High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. I'm so glad that Burger U replaced the prior place, what was it... Tailgaters? Anyway, Burger U reminds me of Pine 22 (now closed) that was downtown. You walk up to order your burger and pay at the counter then take your number to your seat to wait for your food. I thought the burgers were really good- but thought mine was, at 4oz., a little small. Good thing we ordered a side of their garlic fries. Again, I expected more quantity (I guess I'm spoiled by Five Guys portions) but they were excellent. They were perfectly crispy and flavorful. They have a great beer selection too- I even found one of my faves, Rouge Dead Guy. We also tried the brownie sundae which was served warm with vanilla ice cream. It was very good. I really had to hold back and NOT try the Krispy Kreme milkshake. Yes, you read the right, they sell a milkshake made with real Krispy Kremes. I had to hustle out of there before I caved in to temptation and ordered one!

Food is decent but they don't know how to run a kitchen. Waited over 40 min for a burger. Really 40 min. No apology, no warning before ordering. Just pay and wait. Not a place if you value your time. Atmosphere is nice and clean.

Great place, lots of beers, good burgers, and friendly staff. Not bad prices on the beer either. I've been to only a few bars in my two months here in Orlando but I can definitely say this one is worth coming back too. I give it a thumbs up. Also the night I went it was fairly quite so if your not looking for a huge crowd that might be the spot.

Burger U just opened up a few weeks ago in Knights Plaza on the UCF campus. It replaces the old Tailgaters that closed up a while ago and is situated between the UCF Arena and Brighthouse Networks Stadium. Even though the place has only been open a few weeks, I've been over there several times already. I LOVE a good burger and don't understand why it is so hard to find one. Look no further! This is the real deal. First off, their burgers are cooked to order. I like mine cooked medium with a nice pink center and so far they have been spot on. Their buns are delicious and the right size for the burger, something other places haven't seemed to figure out yet. The toppings are top notch as well... spicy maple bacon with bleu cheese has been my favorite! As far as sides go, they seem a little pricy, but are enough to share. The home made chips are great, but OMG just order the garlic french fries!!!! I'm not kissing anyone on my way out, but man alive those are good! Lots of garlic!!! Milk shakes....also a bit of a splurge, but thick, creamy, delicious....Chocolate Peanut Butter....oh yeah! For those enjoying the bar atmosphere.... their "signature snack" is a Spicy Maple Bacon Caramel Corn. Really good house-made caramel corn with bacon pieces mixed in and a bit of a spicy kick on the back end. Works well with a cold beer. I haven't tried the wings or tenders....their name is BURGER U, right? That said, I haven't had anything bad there yet! Fantastic food, full bar, good beer, nice college atmosphere, amazingly friendly staff! I always enjoy swinging by campus to see what all has changed and to enjoy the atmosphere/scenery, but this definitely gives me a reason to head back to UCF more frequently!

I came here a while back with a friend and I will admit I had one of the most unusual burgers I had ever eaten. I have been reluctant to return because it is on a college campus. If I was 20 years younger, I probably would not give it a second thought. After reading the reviews I will have to go back in the near future just to see what insanely decadent creation they are offering... I saw some really crazy creation being advertised and morbid curiosity made me order it. Instead of a bun they used a glazed doughnut and topped the burger with an egg and bacon. I have a feeling I am missing a few items because this was a few months ago but I did take a picture for everybody to see. One thing I will never forget was how insanely good this burger was. It was decadent beyond belief but the sweet and salty of the bun and bacon really stood out and I have been craving one ever since. Now for the other reason I hesitated going back for another one... It was insanely rich and I ended up paying for that richness the rest of the evening. That was by far one of the harshest cases of indigestion I have had after eating a meal BUT... That burger was so good I simply could not stop eating it. In my 20's I had a cast iron stomach but pushing 50 I can't eat burgers this rich every day and not expect for my stomach to remind me to act my age. lol I also sampled the wings and fries and they did not leave a lasting memory but I will NEVER EVER forget that burger. I had a chance to meet the head chef and he was a great guy with some insanely fresh ideas when it came to food. I meant to write up a review about this long ago when it was fresh in my mind but I was not a Yelper at the time, let life get in the way and that bloody CRS set in. Better late than never but I will just have to go back again so I can give all of you one of my usual reviews along with photos and eye rolling comments. I would definitely recommend the food but I will be torn if I see that "Gut buster" on the board because my silly self would probably order it again and willingly pay the price for indulging in such an insanely rich burger but what the H... You only live once... lol

I go to burger u every now and then. It isn't the best burger in the world but it is typical. I like to get the burger of the month. That's usually what keeps me going back. The service is great. Everyone is extremely friendly!

This restaurant is on a college campus. The food was decent. I had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and the dressing was rather tasty. Service was adequate. I found the ambience to be rather on the loud side and I might be under estimating that statement. But it is college life after all!

I just had the most amazing burger with my glass of wine!! Medium rare burger, wings, and chicken fingers. What a way to end the evening!! Love it and highly recommended

I am quite torn because I mean the burger was actually really good but the fries was such a fail... Burger U is a counter service restaurant where you order your meal when you first walk in and then go take a seat with your number then someone comes out with your meal. We came here for lunch and they were pretty fast granted it is not packed like other places on University Dr. when you just gotta grab a decent burger on a regular lunch break. I liked the fact the restaurant didn't make it feel like you're at UCF but like a little better than a university joint when you're off campus. The outside music would have been too loud for me (I'm not old, I just want to talk to my fraaans!!) but inside music level was great! The burger was pretty darn delicious. I got a 1 patty with cheese, grilled onions, ketchup and lettuce. Pretty basic and thats how I like it. The burger was a little greasy but I think it has to do with the grilled onions, I was okay with it. Seasoned nicely. The bun was so pillowy soft but didn't lose its shape. I opted for a side of garlic fries and if I didn't ordered those fries, I would have ranked this place 4 stars. The garlic fries are tossed in what looks like a garlic infused oil or just regular oil with chopped herbs and maybe garlic. If you ever read any of my other review I absolutely LOVE garlic but I hardly couldn't down these fries because they were SOAKED in oil. Sad Face. I strongly suggest they find another method to make garlic fries such as tossing them in a garlic powder and fresh garlic with fresh herbs. Fries tossed in oil? No bueno. Just No. Other than that, many may like this cause they have beers and stuff which is cool and decent pricing. If you're on campus and want a burger, I highly recommend this place over the other place that takes forever in the union....

I was expecting more i guess. I ordered the cheese burger and it was just a regular patty that you buy from wal mart. Nothing special..However, the burger had good flavor, which is the 2 stars..being gracious. but hey what do you expect for the college crowd on campus at UCF.

If I wanted something so greasy, I could have stayed home and had a straight shot of cooking oil. Every second spent in there either chewing my food or even staring at my food I felt my arteries clog a little more. The garlic fries had a good garlic taste to them but each one tasted like oil with a side of potato. I had the chicken and avocado sandwich. The toasted bread so overly buttered and hard I thought one of the main ingredients was salted cardboard. Even the coke machines were'nt working when I went in. The place itself was clean and I'm sure that going in for a beer would probably be a better experience. However, if you want to eat oil, save yourself the $10 and stay home.

While visiting Light Up UCF my daughter and I were a little hungry. I am not a fan of franchises so we decided on here. Though they do not have a kid's menu they do have a 4oz burger for less than $5. That works for me. I went the double option (8oz). The burgers were very tasty. They also have seasoned fries sold separately. The dinning area has multiple screens with many different games on (Sunday). The food is self-service so you order and they bring it to you. I can see how this place can get a little crazy during the game day since it is literally across from the UCF Arena. Overall, a great burger at a great price.

BURGER U GETS A B+ ! Hopped on their freebie golf cart shuttle from the parking garage. Didn't even see an All American obsessed "Tip Jar" mounted anywhere! Wow! The ordering lines pace was swift and before long we were sitting in the throughs of college life waiting for our beers - again. That wait proved to be reasonably short. Probably cause we got the shuttle to the restaurant and didn't have to do that lengthy walk in the 92º heat. Perception = Reality to the subconscious mind. (and no, I was not subconscious!) I ordered the Dbl. Burger with all the offerings but tomato. If you are a fan of Five Guys, you'll love their burger. True, it's not suppose to be heart healthy and all that jazz, but an indulgent. The Sriracha mayo must have been lost after my waaaaaaay too pink burger returned from the kitchen closer to my perception of Medium. Hated to turn it back, but 2nd time was a charm for this one. Fingers lickin' good stuff. The garlic fries are a bit frightening to behold as the garlic sauce is overly generous and unfortunatly limps em' out pretty bad. Too moist for the parmesan to standout. A tasty thang shore nuff, but this was pushing the "allowance" for this Paleo targeted palate. Next time I'll opt for something different. Maybe the sweet potato fries? The AC could have been cooler, but on a sweltering day like that, most well attended places were probably wanting for less BTU's . Being crowded doesn't help! Loo Review- Exceeded my expectations. Why? I guess I just need to adjust my overly critical anticipation of restroom conditions everywhere. Been quite a while since I was horrified -anywhere. I'd say ya gotta try this place - if you are there for a game for sure. Predator fans can get a bit costume-y and quite entertaining. Just get there early to stake your claim.

Great place for a cheap burger and beer. The burgers are mostly build your own so it can get a little pricey but so worth it when you want a over med egg on a burger with pepper jack with hot peppers with doughnut buns great place. Super nice staff and the beer selection is pretty good to.

This review was based on food and not the bar: The burger itself was pretty decent. The meat tasted high quality and it was cooked well. However I ordered bacon on mine (which cost .99 cents) and they only gave me one strip. They must have skimped on my cheese too (also costs extra) because I couldn't taste it at all. I ordered the seasoned fries (which costs extra as well) they give you a HUGE portion, and while the seasoning was yummy, I didn't want to finish them because they were very greasy and salty. When it came out my first thought was "that burger looks pretty small" and I left still hungry. For $10 I think you could do better. I would have rather gone to Five Guys. This place could improve by offering much larger burgers and less greasy fries.

BU Margarita was delicious...and fairly healthy too! I had the grilled chicken sandwich which was served on toasted sourdough bread. Really enjoyed it. The chicken could have been marinated a bit more, but all the flavors were good. Is have it again.

I was here briefly to get a quick drink before heading into a UCF football game. They setup about 6 lines outside to order drinks quickly. There were about 6 people in front of me and I probably waited less than 5 minutes. My friend was able to order drinks quickly, but when it got to me, there was so much confusion she just overlooked me and took the order of the people behind me, who weren't even in the same line as me. I tried again asking the bartender for the drink I wanted, but then she disappeared for a while, and the game already started, so I gave up and just left. I'm not sure if I wasn't pushy enough, or if she thought my friend had ordered my drink already. It was just so confusing. My friend also had confusion with the bill and he felt she may have charged him more than once. There was just a lot of money and drinks and people passing back and forth, that we don't know what was going on, and have no idea if they ripped us off. The place does have a good selection of craft beer and liquors, and maybe I'll give them a chance again, hopefully when it isn't as hectic. I just think the way the crowds were, it was going to lead to disaster.

Amazing! Burger U catered my baby shower and the food was beyond delicious! We had burgers, wings (coconut curry sauce is to die for) and ceasar salad. The food was fresh and hot. They make majority of their menu items in-house and you can taste it. They exceeded my husbands and I expectations and my guests. Darren and his staff were very attentive & extremely professional. By far the best burgers and wings I've had in a while!!! 5 stars!!!

The burgers are so good! I always get the single patty cooked medium. I add a side salad as well. The side salad is really good and big. The Siracha Mayo is a must for your burger and garlic fries.

Ate there for the first time today, and it was EXCELLENT! Burger had good flavor, toppings were fresh, and food came out quickly. The garlic fries were covered in a homemade garlic pesto sauce and yes, they do contain oil so don't be surprised! The soda machine offers tons of choices and it was very clean inside. I thought the price was a little high but then again, I know how ridiculous their rent is, so I'm sure that's a factor.

Dining in for lunch (more than once)...They actually ask you how you want your burger cooked. That's a good sign. They actually cooked it how I ordered it (even better). Great flavor on the burgers and the fries were cooked to perfection. I actually like not having to worry about a server at this place because they are readily available to address any needs you may have. In and out in less than 30 minutes. TOP NOTCH.

Truly excellent service, food quality, and atmosphere. Their entire menu is delicious - from the chicke n, to the burgers, to the shakes. The burgers I've had have always been temped correctly and are extremely flavorful. Try the sriracha mayonnaise on your burger for a bit of a kick, and the double burger if you're really hungry. Overall, a great place to be with friends and family. Highly recommended!
