India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

Delicious gulab jamun!! Got Chana masala to go, with tandoori toto. Did a superb as always and aloo masala delicious! If kid were fresh and soft! Coconut Chutney generously served and awesome!

Amazing Indian food slightly more affordable than its major competitor - u must order the chilli paneer and the paneer makhani. The Indian tea is also very good. The staff was courteous and professional. Overall a must visit for every tourist to Orlando who wants to taste good Indian food.

Terrible place. Worst service I've ever had. Came in and had to leave because one of the owners came peeking around the corner then I could hear them making fun of my ethnicity in the kitchen. Unacceptable, racist, I wouldn't eat their food even if it was the best in the Orlando. Came in hungry for some samosa chaat, and left within 5 minutes of being seated. Absolutely unbelievable. The hostess had hickeys all over her neck, very unprofessional. Go there if you don't have class, and be sure to leave a good tip if you eat. They definitely need the charity.

Bombay is amazing and better than woodlands in my opinion! This is a favorite spot of mine and so affordable.
(5)Andi P.
Heck. Yes. This place is at the end of a long, obscure hallway, sandwiched by Indian markets and clothing stores. You may feel a bit out of place walking down the hallway but don't worry! This restaurant is fabulous for newbies to Indian cuisine! The service is great and I was so excited about how open the server was with explaining each dish to us! I started with the Samosa Chat (Indian small street dishes) and it was AMAZING!! It was like a deconstructed samosa in a bowl (with Tamarind sauce baked right into it... MMMMMmmmm!). This dish was a bit spicy, but manageable, and the flavors were on point! This was the favorite dish and my friends and I were all able to share. I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to spicy food so I definitely recommend getting a Mango Lasi to sip on between spicy bites! For my main dish I ordered the Masala Dosa and oh, man, was it big!! The sauces were great and the giant crepe was sooo flavorful (even on its own, without the dips). Be prepared to use your hands! You'll be ripping pieces off of the Dosa (crepe) and using it to grab potato and sauces. I absolutely love this dish because it is easy to share, huge, and pretty fun to eat, tbh! I wish I had had enough room in my stomach for dessert, but next time I'll be ordering the Gulab Jamun (sweet dumplings) for sure!

If you ever pull a muscle or sprain yourself, head to Bombay Cafe and ask for their dosas. They will give you one, along with an ice cold cup of chutney which you can apply to the injured area. This place is abysmal even for an Indian restaurant. The food is sub-par. I got the "ragra pattice" (for heaven's sake, it's patties) and I got a scalding plate of peas in some salt-less sauce. I got the Jaipuri Dosa and while the dosa itself was passable, the sambar and chutney were horrible. If a girl made this when a potential groom came to visit her, she would be sent to an orphanage that very night by her own parents. I visited Orlando after a while, and when I checked in, Yelp said it was my second check-in. Looks like I don't learn from my mistakes. Don't go here. I repeat. Abandon this seedy restaurant. There is a reason it's always deserted.
(2)Shannon S.
I love the food here. The service is always nice and quick. The prices are good too. I usually get a spinach dish but everything else I've tried is good too. The meals are never too spicy, but if you like spicy make sure you let them know.
(4)Aditya V.
First thing : they don't care about the customers. Our waiter was so late in attending to us that we almost wanted to leave. I wish we left. The food served ( onion ravva dosa ) has human hair on it. I am not sure why am I still giving 2 stars to it, may be because I ate here so many times that I wanted to give these guys some credit. But hair on food - Never GO!!
(2)Ann M.
Amazing!!! Close to highway
(5)Varun S.
Decent food... I was there just at the last minute, so a little slow service could be attributed to my wrong timing also I ordered North Indian and it was fairly good food. Roti and paratha seemed too white for my liking, because I prefer wheat only Indian bread. Sabji we ordered were also decent. All in all, I won't mind going back to this place
(3)Patti M.
This is the best vegetarian indian restaurant hands down. I loved the somosas and my vegetable korma was so flavorful (and not spicy which makes me happy). Our server was a doll and brought a few things out for us to try without charging us. Many of the dishes are also vegan or can be made vegan so just ask. The place was busy with many Indian and Pakistani families (all the natives are clue that this meal is gonna be GOOD!). It is located in the same building an indian grocery so if you find you cannot get enough curry head over the the store where many things are very reasonably priced.
(4)Sarah B.
Bombay Cafe is by far one of the best Indian Restaurants we have ever had all around the US! If you live or are visiting Orlando. I highly suggest it! They are also very helpful if you are unsure of what to get.
(5)Gwanda P.
Friendly staff! Food is delicious. Great place for lunch and it didn't take long. Do not be afraid to ask questions about the menu! Koorma yummy and please try the samosas with all the sauces....
(5)N R.
The food there is still super awesome.. But seems there is a manager in training who made our last visit(2 weeks back) kinda mushy.. He made a mini scene when we decided to sit at a larger table- we order tonnes of stuff and hence need a larger table than usual even though there are only 3 of us... But he was adamant that since it is just 3 we sit on a smaller table and we had to use our circus skills to keep all the dishes on the small table we were assigned to .. Fire that manager in training.. Nah just kidding.. give him a good scolding.. And box his ears..He did THE one thing that most sane managers won't do.. pick a fight with a lady.. In this case me wife Number one rule mr n00b manager.. Don't argue with women unnecessarily
(2)Laurel T.
Delicious, deep, flavorful curry. Weird little shopping center that is a bit scary at night. The service is pretty good and the curries are incredible. We are vegan and had no problem finding wonderful options. We had vegetable samosas and a curry with potatoes and cauliflower. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Orlando! 5 stars for food. Took a star off simply because the shopping center weirded me out a bit.

So for most of my trip to (mostly) sunny Orlando this past week, food was always looked up and decided upon using Yelp's handy dandy iPhone app. Bombay Café was no different. __________________________________________________Â__________ Convo with the boy went something like this: * Me: If you could eat anything right now for dinner, what would you want? * Boy: Indian would be nice, what are you in the mood for? * Me: Indian works! Let me look on Yelp. [Intermission as I look] * Me: Oooooh, look! Bombay Café has raving reviews and is only a 6 minute drive from where we are, let's do it! * Boy: Let's do it! __________________________________________________Â__________ Upon arriving we found this place nestled in between an Indian supermarket, Indian video/DVD store and Indian Photography Studio - I already knew this place was going to legit. Bombay Café itself is cute, dimly lit and we were greeted by a warm and friendly hostess who seated us, gave us menus and promptly had a waiter come over and bring us water. Service throughout our whole dinner was on point. After looking over the menu for quite sometime I couldn't find any of the super mild dishes that I normally order at an Indian restaurant (I don't do spicy, but enjoy spices) so waved our hostess/waitress over and asked her if they served Chicken Tikka Masala and she responded with, "No, we're a vegetarian restaurant"... I felt as if the entire floor had been wiped out from under me and I was going to drown in a prolific sea of spicy vegetables that I simply do not like :(. The boy pointed out every potato based dish or anything that looks mild and slight not too crazy looking and I began to work up a sweat thinking that I might have to deal with just buttered na'an and white basmati rice for dinner...when I found it...all on my own... KHOYA KAJU - cashew nuts cooked in thick creamy sauce...I figured what could go wrong with nuts cooked in a thick creamy (ie. NOT spicy!) sauce right? Well what went wrong was NOTHING!! My Khoya Kaju was amazingly delicious, full of flavor and spices! It was a little spicy, but very mild and palatable nonetheless! The boy ordered something that was super spicy with potatoes...don't remember what his dish was actually called but he loved it and what I tried of it was delicious and CRAZY spicy...just the way he likes it :). We also ordered buttered na'an which came served with the standard chutneys (red, green and purple - that's all you're getting from me because I don't know their respective names, lol) and the green chutney was sooooooooo delicious. I also asked for a separate side of raita sauce which I poured all over my entrée dish along with spoonfuls of the green chutney - my food looked like a swirly mess of different colored sauces, but it tasted like a super exclusive party in my mouth in which only delicious spices were invited! So SO happy we found this place! Bombay Café is delicious, excellent service and super reasonably priced. Should I ever find myself in Orlando again I will totally make an effort to return here! YUM!!!

Look, I honestly have no idea what I am eating when I'm here, but it is so good. So good. Batata wada chat. What is that? I don't know, but it has crispy tidbits (direct quote) and it's delicious. Rava dosa with mysterious chutneys. Fabulous. Just close your eyes and pick some things and they will be good. The service is attentive and polite. It's in a shopping strip off OBT with an Indian video store, Indian grocery, and Indian photographer. I just want to affirm that everything about this experience, from price to food to service, was 100 times better than the much-raved about Raga.

When I first got here I wasn't sure if I was in the right place because it wasn't very welcoming I guess. I came here a few weeks ago. I walk in and there's an Indian market on my left an Indian shop on my right then further down an Indian video shop and my right and a the end was the Bombay Cafe. It was my boyfriend and I and just one other man in the restaurant with us. Two TVs playing different Indian stations. we sat in a corner I was on the booth and my bf on a chair in front of me. It was a cute restaurant with nice furniture and quiet surrounding. Our waiter had a bit of an accent but was very helpful and patient. I didn't know what to get and he quickly recommended the cottage cheese curry and it was AMAZING. I loved it, I had it with garlic pita bread and rice if I remember correctly. My boyfriend had soup and cheese pita bread and liked his meal too and he's picky. We also tried their special dessert drink don't remember the name but it had all different kinds of stuff in it noodle looking things cherry etc. it was too sweet. Overall very good food, nice restaurant, and great service!
(5)Ryan l.
Very authentic and delicious. The wait staff was excellent and very friendly. The shopping mall plaza where the restaurant is located is older and somewhat run down looking but once inside, Bombay Cafe is clean and cozy. We will be back.
(4)Ty F.
Oh My Chutney! Phenomenal food, service and price. It is a must go. My second time eating here and everything was just as good as the first time. Asked waiter for recommendations, and everything was great. Palak Paneer and Samosas were extrodinary.
(5)Jamie C.
I don't understand the 4.5 star review for this place. You order and pay at the counter and you place a number on the table and wait for the food. Everything was way too salty. The Dosas were good. I tried 3 different ones. The Pani Puri was a little too tart. I've had much better at indian festivals or buffets. The Chinese style indian food must have been made from salt or soy sauce cause that's all I can taste. Overall, the food was ok but not great. I guess I was more disappointed because of the great Yelp reviews and my expectations were high.
(3)Shashi R.
Definitely a good place, esp for Vegetarian. Food quality was really good. Good customer service. It's not a luxury restaurant so don't set expectation very high, it's budget restaurant.
(4)Shayan K.
One of the best bhael in USA. If you want some desi snack this is right place. They need to work on beverages bt food is delicious.
(5)Christopher O.
There are no words to describe just how amazing this hidden gem of a restaurant truly is. We had ordered a lot of food here and have gotten nothing but the best service and the best quality of food. We are vegans and the manager personally verified that our dinner was animal product free. The food was so delicious, we put in an order for take out as well. Definitely get the Dosan and the Manchurian.
(5)Kanchan B.
This is our family's weekly Saturday late afternoon brunch pit stop. Sometimes we even end up going twice a week! We love the rava masala dosa - reckon its the best in Orlando. The dosa is crisp, flavourful and melt in the mouth piece of goodness. The paper dosa is light, fluffy and crispy and huge!! Another fave is the channa (chick-pea) bhatura. I also think the Indo-chinese noodles are fantastic. The new menu chaat's are also amazing. However I would recommend getting the Kachori chart as a main and not as an entree as it's incredibly filling. The Kachori chaat is my fave and its this medley of flavours that is tart, sweet, crisp, crunchy - the topping is this incredible layers of flavors - yogurt, green chutney, tamarind chutney, coriander and some sev. All in all, great food and good, generous services. And for an even more authentic experience, afterwards go to the Indian shop and buy a paan for $1 (only available on the weekends).
(5)Aayush P.
The chaat and bhel was well prepared. Although they do not serve alcohol or meat dishes. No bottled water only tap. When I asked for a Dr. Pepper, all I received was a can, no glass with ice or anything. Bathroom was not clean, no soap, no toilet tissue. The dosa was poorly made and the utapam was undercooked. I would never eat here again... I was disappointed
(1)Talie S.
This place is located in the back of a little Indian shopping plaza. It is small and cozy. The food here is good. I like the paneer chili, malai kofta and the aloo gobi. Pretty much I love it all. I always leave feeling fat and happy. That being said I am always surprised I don't see more people dining here. The service is super friendly. Highly recommended
(5)Radhika G.
Loved the food ! The service was fast however not very impressive. Total paisa wasool.
(4)Kaushik S.
When looking for authenticity, I try to see if a person with an Indian name has reviewed the Indian restaurant. So as an Indian from South India - this place is really good! The masala dosa was great, although the filling was lacking in onions and the chutney was made of dry coconut instead of raw. But the other entrees were fantastic! The dal makhani and bhindi were really good. The chapatis were fresh and soft. The service was great, and the ambience wasn't bad either. Looking for good Indian food in Orlando? This is the place to go to.
(4)Emile M.
I have been here a few times now. Most of the stuff I have tried has been good. Good chili paneer, samosa chaat, dahi puri, and chole. Pau bhaji was a bit bland. Update: I recently had Chole Bhatura and it was fantastic. The Bhatura was huge, and much puffier than I normally find in Indian restaurants.
(4)Vineet S.
Its the best place to have Indian snack items. It is a small place but the service is good and staff is friendly. I particularly love the dalhi sev puri over there. I always have it when I go there.
(5)Ryan K.
Don't judge a book by its cover.....judge it by how it tastes Bombay Café had the honor of popping my Indian food cherry. This is the equivalent of losing your virginity to someone who from afar looks like a $10 street walker with too much makeup and not enough clothes but once she gets closer and you begin talking to her you realize that she is a nice girl who is disease free after all. FYI, if you're into that $10 street walker sorta thing you can probably find it not too far from here. You see, when you first pull into the parking lot it may take some self-convincing to actually venture into this place but I promise it is worth it. FUN FACT: This place is vegetarian so if you're worried you might eat goat or something without knowing it, don't worry BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK: Lunch special; they recently switched it up so there is like 4 different lunch combos based on the different regions of India but any of them will do (I don't know all the technical names for the stuff, it's all good though and tons of food) DO: come here if you have never tried Indian food and are looking for the perfect first time DON'T: expect terrific service or a refined dining experience
(4)David M.
We were in town for the Disney Marathon and we're looking for a local restaurant with quality food. We got lucky and found the Bombay Cafe. We were the only tourists and were made to feel very welcome. The food was outstanding... The only problem is that my goto place for Indian food will no longer suffice. I've got to travel to Orlando to eat!
(5)Mark H.
Tasty Indian Food. You know it must be good when most of the people dining in are Indian. It can be a bit pricey for dinner (~$9-12 for an entree), but I haven't been to too many Indian restaurants for comparison sake. The atmosphere was nice and the service good. However, the restaurant can be a bit hard to find. When you arrive at the plaza, you see a huge sign for House of Spices. To the right is the door leading to a hallway, and all the way at the end on the right is Bombay Cafe. We almost left because we thought maybe it had closed down, but I'm glad we found this place. The Veg Samosa were really good, with just a little kick at the end. It came with three types of sauces: Tamarind (sweet and spicy), Tomato-based, and Mint (only a hint of mint, maybe cilantro and other herbs?). I thought there were all very good. We ordered two curries to share, the Tadka Dal (tomato-based) and the Paneer Makhani (onion-based). They were served in a small dish with another dish of rice. This is great for groups as you can all order different dishes and are able to try them all easily. The Tadka Dal was really good, slightly sweet and really creamy with lumps of cottage cheese. The Paneer Makhani was also good in a different way and had different vegetables in it. I think I liked the Tadka Dal slightly more. You'll have to order some Naan (we tried the garlic one) to eat with the curries. We got two pieces, each about the size of a pit bread cut in half. So overall, a great experience and great food (oh by the way, its all vegetarian). Even if it is located in a questionable area, bring a group of friends and try it out! Next time I'll try the Mango Lassi and one of the Dosa. We saw many people order the Dosa, which looked like an awesome looking giant loaf of bread, but very thin and hollow.
(4)Bob D.
Went there after checking reviews on Yelp, but was disappointed. We had idly , kachori ragada, Manchuria & veg pulao. Except idly everything else was ordinary. Kachori was hard as a rock, Manchuria was not even close & pulao rice wasn't mixed & cooked properly. Never going back.
(1)Premal M.
Tasty food and decent variety of food options for Vegetarians and especially lovers of indian fast food. Service was decent but probably is much better than what we received during the busy time at dinner.
(4)Michelle R.
This restaurant was delicious. The food was the perfect amount of spicey and the garlic naan was awesome! The service was wonderful, too. They were very attentive and wanted to make sure we were enjoying our food. Will definitely go back again.
(4)Jhoshua C.
Wow, just WOW. Ive been here a total of 5 times, never been let down. The service is great, the servers are very attentive since its a small restaurant. They will recommend plates according to your taste. They only have vegetarian dishes which are all delicious, I would recommend the Okra or Paneer dish, delicious! The naan bread gives everything a good touch of flavor. The food comes out relatively quick and made fresh. Its always clean open late and very affordable, i would recommend this place to anyone!
(5)Gina H.
Just landed and came here. So good! All vegetarian and all tasty. The best part was the service. Incredibly sweet lady. She was helpful and friendly. If I lived here- I would come back.
(5)Kathy G.
Love this restaurant, is affordable and delicious! Vegetarian, but you'll never notice the difference, because is just so tasty! Was there today for lunch, and it was delicious! Good vegetarian Indian food! Very clean great service!
(5)L P.
Delicious Indian food! As a vegetarian, I love finding places that only have veg options! The wait staff was very friendly and helpful! We had the Aloo Paretha (whole wheat bread stuffed with spiced potato). The consistency was perfect and it had just the right amount of flavor for a bread. I had a green chili curry that was delightfully spicy! It was perfect on a cold night! My boyfriend had a curry with potatoes in it and he thought the spices were excellent without being spicy. This is definitely my new favorite place and I would recommend it to anyone!
(5)U S.
If you are looking for some authentic Indian food.. This is the place to be.
(5)Steve P.
I had another great experience at Bombay Cafe, and again the drive from Tampa was well worth it for the variety of vegetarian food that is sorely lacking in the Central Florida area. I went with 2 friends this time - one vegetarian and one meat eater. Both guys were happy and satisfied with all that we got, and the leftovers were even better the next day. These two happy converts have said they will come back here again and again. Appetizers: Samosa Chaat - Amazing. The samosas were fried crisp, and were not oily at all. They were topped with a medium heat chickpea curry, as well as yogurt and tamarind chutney. The flavor combination is amazing, you get the crisp samosa with its potato filling, a little bit of the wonderfully seasoned chickpeas, and some nice cool yogurt and chutney. Gobi Manchurian (Gravy) - Even with the sauce, the cauliflower had an amazing crust still on it, and the sauce was a great addition. I normally get it dry, but a friend wanted to try it with the sauce. The addition of the peppers with the sauce really made this dish, and there was a nice twang of soy sauce with the flavor of the chili and garlic shining through. This was spiced about medium as well, and was even deemed "amazing" by one friend that does not like spicy food (he ordered everything else mild). Entrees: Spring Dosa - this was my Entree, and one of my new favorites. This Dosa was so filling, I couldn't even finish half of it. The fresh and crisp cabbage, carrots and onion were delicious, and when combined with the freshly griddled Dosa, was a match made in heaven. The Dosa was crisp, not oily, and had a great flavor. Malai Kofta - the sauce was creamy and well spiced (not hot), and the dumplings were perfectly seasoned. The sauce was so good, actually, that I stole some from my friend and used it on my Dosa. Palak Paneer - even mild (not exactly how I would have ordered it), you can still taste the greens, and the cheese was a great addition. It was well spiced, and the next day, the flavors had some more time to settle, and was even more delicious. Extras: Butter Naan - brushed with Ghee, the naan came out hot, fluffy, and perfectly cooked. Chai - Hot and Delicious, as always.
(5)Frances F.
Everything is delicious and cheap and I enjoy browsing around the Indian market afterwards. My main concern is the toilets. They woman's bathroom can be scarey sometimes and last I heard there's an 'out of order' sign
(3)Janelle S.
I have never had real Indian food so I decided to try it without my travel buddy who is so very picky. I picked up a menu and had no idea what to order, approached the counter and informed the cashier that I was a vegetarian and had never had Indian food before and he suggested a few items and asked what vegetables I liked best. The food was amazing! I will now have to eat Indian not often. Only thing I wasn't fond of was how you order and pay. I was confused as to when to pay and tip as well.
(4)Jayson W.
Torrential downpour date night adventure to OBT! Yelp delivered on its good reviews. First of all, be aware that the restaurant is at the back of the plaza that it's in, drive around and park out back, fewer other cars and if it's raining you don't have to swim to and from the building. The food was excellent. I am not a vegetarian, but I don't miss meat and cheese when they're not there -- particularly in good-quality Indian. I didn't miss it tonight AT ALL. We had the Samosas Chaat, which were wonderfully crunchy and buried under a tasty smother of a beany, creamy, slightly spicy sauce. Before we had finished our entrees were out. I had the Black Lentils, my wife the Malai Kofta (vegetable balls with "rich sauce"). With the plain and garlic Naan they were great. The black lentils had just the right amount of "charred" taste to them, they were softly spicy and filling. The Malai Kofta balls were a bit mushy (but I don't have anything to compare it, so I don't know if that in itself is good), but the sauce was... well, like they said, rich -- and, again, mildly spicy. Overall the food was good, not the best that I've had either vegetarian or here in the Orlando area. I'll definitely come back and get some other options. My two actual complaints: - I often don't know what I want, and the host/server here wasn't very helpful. His response to "what's are some of your specialties?" was, "Oh, they're all specialties." Not helpful. I *want* you to tell me what you like! Sell me on something. - I *hate* the pay-before-you-eat model if you have tips involved. I don't have any idea how good or crappy your service is going to be. I don't know if I want to drop 15% or 20% if you're excellent or less if you're a jerk. Also, I'm always afraid that under-tip, I'll get some extra spit-sauce on my food.
(4)Gaurav B.
We went there after reading some of the reviews on Yelp. Not a good experience. Ambience 2/10 - over crowded table arrangement. They have also put 2-3 tables outside in public corridor to earn extra revenue. Food 5/10. Service 3/10 - The owner (or who ever that person was at the counter) sounded and acted very rudely. His attitude might be because of high demand for Indian food in this area. You have to wait in line to order food and then take a number to your table. Food is tangy but not well cooked. Paper dosa is quite big and tastes good. Other than that, not a good experience. Relatively pricey for an Indian vegetarian cuisine.
(2)Elizabeth P.
Authentic Indian food at its best. I tried the Vegetable Jalfrezi which is a vegetarian curry dish that was exquisite. It was aromatic, spicy (not too hot) curry vegetables sauce served with rice. And the butter Naan is a must have with this dish, too.
(5)Sherry N.
Stopped by to get a quick bite after a exhausting day at Universal. We were greeted with a smile and was led to a good table. We ordered Gobi manchurian, Chili paneer and Veg pakoras for appetizers. We did not order the maincourse since we did not like their food. Veg pakoras was mediocore with no salt in it. Paneer in the chili paneer was rubberised mess ( the best i can describe, i have never eaten such a mess ). Gobi manchurian was ok, again needed some punch that manchurian usually has. In Short, Food gets 2 stars and the service gets 4 stars. Hence the three stars. We left hungry to an another restaurant.
(3)Melissa T.
This place is legit. There were nothing but brown people in here. Please note - if you are looking for meat, look elsewhere cause this place is vegetarian. I rarely eat Indian food, so I went off others' recommendations. Here is what the bf and I got: -Vegetable samosa: delicious and crispy. I loved the sweeter brown sauce. -Masala dosa: huge crepe with potatoes and onions. I did not know how to eat this, but I went with it. Not my favorite, but every table had this! -Malai kofta: my favorite dish! I love curry! -Naan: soft and buttery -Panni puri: my least favorite dish. It's a crunchy puri filled with some garbanzo potato mixture. It was served more on the room temperature side. -Mango lassi: good flavor. I've never had lassi before, so I didn't know what to expect with this drink. It turned out to be too creamy for my liking. All this food was waaaaay too much for two people, but our bill only came out to ~$26. This experience has made me crave Indian food, which never happens.

Very nice food. It is also probably the cheapest Indian restaurant in Orlando. I tried Masala Dosa, Paneer butter masala and some Indo Chinese entrees. All of them were really good. I went the next day to try Pao bhaji and Chana masala and those were just okay. All in all, a pretty good Indian restaurant that I'd definitely recommend to friends.

Not the prettiest area of town, The Bombay Cafe (which was not our first choice) was a pleasant surprise and we are super happy to have found it! The staff was very helpful in explaining the menu, which is all vegetarian, and the quality matched the presentation...very nice. The pricing was good as well. The next time we plan to have a stuffed (almost looked like a giant, bloated nan) pastry...I don't recall the name, but the neighboring table ordered it and it looked delicious. I would've given it 5 stars, but the area and general atmosphere doesn't warrant 100%.

Food is okay but horrible service! I don't remember if he was a server or manager but he was really rude. My work place people had ordered something from thr and we couldn't find one appetizer which was like $2 worth. So we gave them a call and this guy was so rude and argumentative.. The food was good but the ppl working thr need to learn some manners!

Good food and I love the fact there is an Indian Market close by. The lunch thali plates are a great deal offering two versions, north and south, and the chai is good. The service is great.

I was quite impressed with Bombay Cafe. I thought they wouldn't stand a chance being located right across the street from the ever popular woodlands, but I think they might be able to give Woodlands a run for their money. Maybe they're on par in terms of quality, but quantity... holy crap... their portions are LARGE! I'm south Indian, and I love south Indian food, and this was pretty close. Not as good as mom's food, but beggars can't be choosers :) Definitely try the chaats. The Paneer 65 was a great appetizer. I had a Paper Masala Dosai which was HUGE. I could only finish half of it. Hooray! More good south Indian food in Orlando. I just wish they weren't all so far away from Maitland.

This place is a hidden gem and one of my new faves! I'm pretty sure this will become my new ritual after Bollywood dance classes. I am relatively new to FL, was spoiled by an abundance of good South Indian food in CT where I'm from, and have to admit that it took 9 months to warm up to the whole idea of trying Indian food in Mouse Town. How stupid, because there are plenty of pleasant surprises off the beaten path and Bombay Cafe is one of them! You know it's a good sign when you're the only white girl in an Indian restaurant, and this tends to be the case every time. I've been here a few times and have yet to try any of the curries, because the dosas are so good, I never want to order anything else! The dosas are a satisfying meal in and of themselves, and the spiced potato filling has just a little bit of heat that sneaks up on you. I had the Spring Dosa today and loved the veggie filling. The accompanying sambhar and coconut chutney are divine. The idlis here are nice and fluffy, too. Next time, I will live on the edge and try their curries. This is a vegetarian restaurant, so if you're craving tandoori chicken, you'll have to go elsewhere. But let's be real: there's so much other delicious stuff on the menu, you really won't miss the meat. This would be a great place to take vegetarian friends. For added fun, make sure to go to the Bollywood DVD store and check out Prerana's for gorgeous sarees and Indian bling!

Forget the food; I'll just come here when I want to believe I'm out of the country. Cool shopping center with a little boutique offering women's jewelry and Indian apparel is very close to Bombay Cafe. Love it!! Great place to buy belly dance wear! I love the masala dolsa. I could not believe how much of the potato filling I was given with an order. It came on the side, so you have to fill it yourself. Palak paneer, my default dish, was disappointing I have to say. It was too onion-ey and not creamy enough. Seems as if it was just chopped up spinach and onions with the cheese chunks. I still believe Ambar in Cincy has the best Indian food I have ever had. Despite the palak paneer fail, I enjoyed my dolsa and also a very hot and spicy soup that I'm believing is complimentary. I did not ask for it, it just came with. So good! And not that it matters, but the take out containers are of such good quality I'll have to use them again. . .I love reusing take out containers. . .I'll never have to buy any glade plastic ware! At any rate, def worth a stop by to try, if only for the cultural feel. Woodland's is closed on Monday, so Bombay is open then, and closed on Tuesday when Woodland's is open.

For my first time eating Indian Food, My sis and I decided to check this little treasure out on a shopping trip for Chai Tea supplies at House of Spice. WE LOVED IT! We ordered Samosas, Malai Kofta, Paneer Chili, and Naan. We were so satisfied we vowed to return again. Delicious food, adorable setting, great prices! I would recommend Bombay Cafe to anyone and those who are worried they won't find anything to eat at this Vegetarian restaurant-Fear not! you will be thoroughly satisfied.

What a great surprise! I lunched there on Monday. I've seen the House of Spices sign there since the 1970s when I worked in the area, but never gave it any thought. It turns out that this spot on SOBT is a little Indian mall, with a full-sized Indian grocery, other boutiques, and the Bombay Cafe in the very back. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you once it is ready. I ordered way too much, starting with Bhajji Fritters (onion fritters), which is about the size of the bloomin' onion at Outback, but cut into spidery shapes. It would have been a meal unto itself. I moved on to Masala Dosa and butter naan, just wonderful, and another huge portion. I'll know better next time not to order so much. I arrived there after 1:00 on a Monday expecting to be the sole diner, but much to my surprise, the place was nearly three-quarters filled, all with Indian people, and me the lone Caucasian. Many of the women diners were dressed in beautiful and colorful saris, and they were so friendly! I also noticed how well they treated their children. Loved it! It's all vegetarian and all wonderful!

Its all its cracked up to be. I can't remember the last time that I was so pleasantly surprised by all the delicious flavors! We had the dosa and chana masala with the tika masala sauce. Now we cant wait to go back! EDIT: We came back and loved it just as much as the first time! Bombay Cafe is my new obsession!

Eating adventurously is one of those things that ALL of us need to do more often - and Bombay Cafe is a perfect example of that credo. It is NOT on a particularly good area of OBT and it is all the way back of an indian style mini-mall but it is worth seeking out this delicious and unique (for Orlando) food. First of all you have to understand the set up - think Pei Wei style where you order at a counter, are given a number and then the food is brought to you when it is ready. The menu will also have some items that you have never heard of before, EVEN if you are very familiar with Indian cuisine. Also - you will be surprised how affordable everything is....so trust me - you will over-order. I personally loved the Pani-Puri to start - it is true street food and an awesome experience. Ladle some of the flavorful liquid into small little cups with chick-peas. Cool! Then grab some ridiculously big dosas or some incredibly flavorful samosas. Everything on the menu is good and will not disappoint. Bollywood music and movies are playing on TV's and the sounds and smell of the other Indian businesses fill your ears and nose... Are you in India? Nope - you are in a special little corner or Orlando.

By far the best indian vegetarian food we had in the whole of US. The Gobi manchrian was to die for...the dosa and chana batura was v.v.yummy....service was v.good and v.quick...wish we lived in Orlando just for having the bliss of visiting this restaurent regularly!!!

I was so sad when Udipi closed down and thought I'd never find a local Indian restaurant with better food. And then (thanks to Yelp) I came across Bombay Cafe. BY FAR the best Indian food I've had in Orlando! It's quite a hike for me (I live in Winter Park) and it's totally in the ghetto (off of Orange Blossom Trail), but it's totally worth it. It's inside of a small Indian strip mall that also has a grocery and video rental place...atmosphere is totally weird, but kinda cool too! I realize that i've said "totally" a million times in this post, but I totally mean it. Totally. The people who work there are gracious, friendly, and kind. Your food comes out almost immediately. ALSO - found out there are lunch specials M-F...tons of food for very little money. For dinner for two people it was $30. That includes three dishes plus garlic naan plus a mango lassi. Paneer makhini and gobi machurian are both the best i've had. Bombay is CRAZY CHEAP and totally satisfying. Try it out if you know what's good for you!
(5)Praveen P.
It a nice little Indian restaurant with good number of options. We loved the "Chilli Pakoda Chaat" and Kids liked crispy dosas here. I would surely recommend this place for any vegetarian friends.
(4)Shaggy L.
My review counts only for the items I ordered and service I received. I never miss trying the Dahi puri in any Indian reaturant if it's in the menu. It's my fav. It is one of the best I had in US. The other item I tried was pani puri, it was avg. Dahi puri - 5/5 Pani puri - 3/5 Decor - fast food kinda atmosphere Service - 5/5 Bottom line - I wish I stayed for long in Orlando to try their other items in the menu. Definitely a go to place for cheap Indian food.

This was my first time here and after reading all the good reviews gave this place a try. We ordered Paneer chilly which smelled like the paneer was fried in oil reused several several times. Chole bhature which my husband ordered tasted so bad and has this typical taste of ready to cook frozen chole..bhatura again not fried in fresh oil tasted very bad..the only decent edible dish was rawa masala dosa..the sambar again was very watery and sub standard..people who have rated this place so high have no clue about Indian food what so ever..stay away if possible...

Bombay Cafe is DEFINITELY my NEW favorite Indian spot in Orlando! I haven't been to many places on the EAST coast where they serve a masala dosa....and I was super happy when it came out to be larger than iCould ever imagine! Also, the FAlooda drink was delicious! And iOnly spent $10 for dinner! :D IF you want to experience REAL South Indian Eats, then come here. I find it hilarious that my meat-lover friends exclaimed how they were wary at first to eat @ this vegetarian Indian spot...but were so full after the delicious vegetarian dish they ate! Also, Charley's STEAKhouse is next door! LoL. I'll be back Bombay Cafe! :D P.S. Everyone that came into the restaurant while we were there were Indian and Paki....so u know this place is legit! ;)
(5)Lisa S.
Everything was great. The price was reasonable too... We turned to this restaurant as woodlands would not take an order over phone and the wait time in the restaurant for take away was close to an hour... We loved the food and i think it was a good choice

Hey hey Bombay ;) This place is slightly hidden, it can be found inside the Laxmi Plaza where House of Spices is located..all the way in the back. It is open Monday through Sunday 11:30 A.M to 9:30P.M..and this is why this place is awesome.... They have flavorful, delectable Indian cuisine ...mainly everything on the menu is vegetarian and consist of alot spices with flavors that can make u coming back for more. A must buy is the vegetable samosa which is a spiced potato and pea turnover with a sweet dipping sauce! So good just might order 2 servings next time O_O also try the Malai kofta which is vegetable balls in rich creamy curry sauce with poffy, moist rice. YUMMMERZ! Bombay serves chaats, dosa, rice plates, and curry dishes...if you have questions they have a very customer service oriented staff who are willing to school you in on Indian food if you have no idea what anything is. Judgement free zone with a staff who can provide clarification when needed.... its100% in my book! Did I mention they play entertaining cheesey Bollywood movies on the tv? U just gotta try Bombay..

In Orlando for business and snuck away from the quacks and squeaky mice...,I yelped for vegetarian nearby and Bombay appeared...I've been on an Indian food fast since starting a hard core diet but the combination of good reviews, veg, and location was irresistible. Stage set...plugged it in to my gps (I am an addict going for a fix here). Walked in to the informal restaurant buried inside a very small strip mall. Casual and clean...walk to the counter and order your food then the wait begins...worse than an expecting father...arrives after some recommendations from the very pleasant kid taking my order. Very good food (salt lasso, onion bhajia, and palak paneer. Right amount of spice, arrived quickly. Only thing was I asked for less oil....I don't want to see "more" oil.
(4)Mohun K.
Very good, authentic South Indian food. Rava masala dosa was very good, as was the sambar vada. A little off the beaten path, but definitely worth a visit. Will revisit when I am in Orlando again.
(4)Nirav S.
My 3rd or 4th time here. Well worth the trip. They give a good amount of food for the price. Both punjabi and south Indian dishes are excellent and tasty. The restaurant looks a bit run down but the service is good as well as the food. Recommendation: leave the parks early and grab some dinner here
(4)Amy Y.
This place is good and inexpensive. If you want fast Indian food come here. We got our order within 5min. I enjoyed my mango lassi. It was creamy amazing and sweet mango drink...what a treat esp if you have a sweet tooth. I ordered the algoo golbi curry. It was good but I had better and spicier. I will have to try different things later since the price you can't complain. The purri is good and a bit on the oily side. i would score this 3.75. The style of the cafe is: order first, sit, eat, and pay later. Great food here and busy for a small cafe. The cafe is in a small plaza. Go way back in and pass the grocery store. Next time I will have to play with the music videography n studio room next to it ;P

I had been to this place about 15 times. Half of the time I still don't know what I am ordering. I am a very picky eater and when I am ordering blind it is a risk. For someone who does not know Indian food nor the language it is like throwing darts. The food is good I really like the peanut curry, the bread is real good. My Mother loves the spring dosa rolls.
(4)Megan R.
This hidden treasure, located in the back section of an Indian shopping center (that is a treat to visit) could become a weekly pilgrimage for me. We repeat the Kathi Rolls, samosas, and dhai sev puri, but always look forward to trying something new from the menu. A wonderful value as most of this exceptionally fresh and flavorful food is under $8. Very friendly service, you will not be disappointed!
(5)Prof J.
Good amount of proportions for what you pay for. I had the Samosa, garlic naan bread, palak paneer, chana masala, and onion chili dosa. yeah, a lot of things to share...and boy i was stuffed. but as most indian food, they don't do good on your belly. but it was pretty good. place was quiet and clean. good job bombay cafe!

We were in Orlando recently and visited this place for dinner one night after reading good reviews on Yelp. Service was very good and food came out very fast. Gobhi Manchurian was very crispy and delicious. My older son loved the Chinese bhel and I found the flavors delightful. My younger one loved the paneer makhani and finished all paneer pieces which were soft and cooked perfectly in creamy gravy. Hakka noodles were very good once we added some hot sauce and vinegar. Overall, we had a very good experience. I would try this place again when in Orlando.
(4)Nidhi S.
Good food, but we found it robe inconsistent for the two lunches we had there. But would recommend this as one of the better alternatives in the area.
(3)N N.
Wish I could give this a zero rating. Horrible, repeat horrible food. The only redeeming part was that it was cheap. Not worth the effort to come here. Awful !!! I think a lot of folks who have given it a good rating are not Indian and hence don't know good Indian food. The papri chat was especially bad- who the heck puts hot chole in a papri chaat. Also the food tasted like one of those pre packaged sodium loaded frozen meals. They definitely take short cuts. Also it would serve the guy taking the order to be a little friendly- after all you are in the service industry dude!!!
(1)Andrew G.
The place it really in a crummy area of Orlando and in a crummy little shopping center. But the dining room itself is clean/modern and overall the staff was nice. They were understaffed and they messed up our order so we had to wait almost an hour, as you can imagine we were pretty disappointed..... until we got the food. The food was good. The crapes were amazing and the curry was delicious. I would have gave them 4 or 5 stars if they would not have made us wait an hour. I may change the rating on another visit. But I will go back for those crapes.

where should i start....first of all the location is easy to find. located on orange blossom trail. its not the best location but it is also not the worst. the restaurant is located inside a building where there are other Indian stores. i myself find that very interesting because you are able to shop after eating or before if you choose to do so. now lets get to the main point. the restaurant!!! the restaurant is kind of small it self but the atmosphere is very comfortable and also the restaurant is very clean. which is very reassuring in my book:)The service is very good. if it is your first time eating authentic Indian curry and have no idea what your going to be eating have no fear the employees will explain what it is you are about to consume. by the way did i mention this place only serves vegetarian food? oh yeah, all vegetarian baby!! if you love meat and can not eat just veggies for a main course then this is not the place for you. i however, did not have a problem even though i love meat as much as any other carnivore out there.. the food is so delicious that you will not mind missing the taste of meat. the Naan is awesome. it is made fresh for your meal. i love the taste of Naan and this place is the reason why!!! i am sure you can tell from my review that i think this place is terrific if you are looking for a good place to eat Indian food then i recommend you start here:)
(5)Anna V.
The eggplant dish had huge pieces of stalk and the spices were off. The idli and dosa were good, but could be better. I prefer the quality and authenticity of Woodlands.
(2)Sally D.
South Indian! Chettinaad is definitely spicy (hot). LARGE portions for chaat (well, I had bhel puri) enough for 2 people to split and not be stingy. Naan oven was out the day I came but the paratha was fresh! Mango lassi was blended perfectly and was great to cool down after the meal. Great hot chai. Got a Manchurian 65 to go for my husband later, and tasted like they just made it 1.5 hours later when I got home (they separate everything so nothing gets soggy and give you plenty of rice). Really enjoyed this place because Woodlands was closed on a Monday.
(5)Sonia K.
I LOVE this place!!! In the short amount of time since I've discovered this place, I've went back several times. Prices are great and food is AWESOME! Masala Dosa is crispy yet chewy, stuffed with yummy potato masala, and sambar is very flavorful, and coconut chutney is yum!!! Samosas are crisp, and chaats are flavorful! For a small place in Orlando, this place beats the expectations. Heck, even beats the Vegetarian Indian cafes of all major US metro cities.
(5)Steven I.
Ok, since I have been accused of only writing negative reviews I will tell you about this place. In a word, exquisite! This is a small restaurant located in a mini mall of Indian shoppes. Informal enough to go have a quick lunch but formal enough to dine at night. --Great Price --Great People --Lots of Parking --Clean --Ambiance --Languages English, Indian, Spanish Lunch specials M-F. More than you can eat. Try this place. I love it but I live 45 mins away. What a shame.
(4)Christian G.
I ordered the lunch special for $5.99 and left full and satisfied. I didnt realize it was a vegetarian restaurant until I got inside but dont let that scare you... the flavors are great and portions large.
(5)Terri K.
Just visited Bombay Cafe for the 4th time. Every time we go, it's consistently delicious. This place is a hidden gem in the Laxmi plaza (all indian stores) just north of the Florida mall on 441. It's a small mall, just enter thru the center door and walk straight down the corridor to Bombay Cafe on your right. Small but charming, clean and cozy, pick up a menu as you walk in then go straight back to the counter and place your order. A very pleasant, helpful young man is always behind the counter. Anyway, the food is amazing. I've had Palak paneer twice and I dream about this dish, it's so good. Their garlic naan is aromatic and delicious. Can't remember the names of the other dishes we've had but one was vegetable balls in a creamy tomato-type sauce and there was a chickpea dish....all were delicious. Had dessert for the first time and it didn't disappoint. If you love Indian food do yourself a favor and seek this place out. We have always been the only caucasians here so you know the food must be delicious and authentic.
(5)Rodrigo B.
I didn't know it was vegetarian when I got there (I pretty much always order meat at Indian places). Don't let that stop you. Employee offered help in choosing even though she was not a waitress. Food was really delicious. I loved the Paneer 65 and Gobi Machurian gravy.
