Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Below average pizza. Crust dry and tasteless.

Pretty good. Like a dive.

My husband and I had a craving for pizza. Tired of the same "chain pizza", we searched for something different. We found Vito's and were excited to try it out. We went after 2pm and this place was fairly busy the whole time we were there. It's a fairly small restaurant with only six or seven tables, but don't let the size fool you! The menu is simple, mostly serving pizza, calzones and cannoli. We ordered a large pizza with three toppings: pepperoni, bacon, and onions. They pile the toppings on too! The price was great and most of all the pizza tasted awesome! The crust is a thin New York style with a very nice texture and flavor! The sauce was tasty too! Our children raved about this pizza after they gobbled down the leftovers! The servers were super nice also. The prices are very reasonable. We will definitely eat at Vito's again!

Wanted to try new place... Friend had told me about coupon in "Enjoy The City" book for free large pizza. Called ahead to order, was told they no longer honor that coupon, now must be buy one, get one free...WTF? Coupon book only valid till 6/30 - you put coupon in book, you honor it! Not only won't go there, will tell others as well. Boo!

Wanted to give them a try but didn't happen. Bait & switch type experience; brought in by lure of a "Meet the Manager" free one topping pizza but once there you have to buy a pizza to get one free because they "no longer" honor their OWN coupon. A more appropriate action would have been to offer half off your first large pizza. Poor sign of customer service so left and won't be back.

This local family owned pizza restaurant is a hidden gem. I really enjoy the food and they really give back to the community. Their specials are tremendous. They offer pizza by the slice! The crust is made from fresh dough daily. Toppings are plentiful. The staff really seems to want you to be happy. Sooooo, here goes....(fingers crossed)....."'My only request is please look into fresh mushrooms instead of the canned, pretty please (-1 star)." The prices are incredible, the food is great the staff is wonderful and the owners are incredible. I love that they practice Christianity first and run their store second, as it should be. They close up shop to worship with their family on Wednesday evenings and all day on Sunday. Its a hidden Gem as I said.

I see reviews on here, and it's rather annoying when people don't rate it on what it is. It's cheap. If you want divine perfect pizza, go to Moon River. If you want something that tastes good and will fill you up with a drink for $3-4, go to Vito's. It's good eats, and it cuts through your intestines like butter, prepare to poop out your soul!

Hands down the best pizza in town with the best price for a one topping carry out

Great NY style pizza. Hand tossed, thin crust. I ordered a medium cheese pizza and the lady behind the counter told me I could get a large for the same price because of a special they were running. The guy making the pizzas in the back was also very friendly and hospitable. If you're craving a good pizza this is the place to go.

My boyfriend is really picky with his pizza but he liked it. friendly staff, just worried about hygiene sometimes because I knew a guy that worked there smoked weed and wouldn't really keep himself clean...

Ordered a Large half double pepperoni and sausage half mushroom green pepper and onion. The pizza was ready in 15-20 minutes. There was hardly any grease in the box. The crust was light and crispy. The pizza is normally awesome. But, this was the best one yet. Vito's consistently provides quality food. My family used to say "let's get pizza from ___". Now they say "let's get pizza". It's always Vito's now.

Love Vitos, the whole family does. Don't live close enough anymore, but going back for a visit in May, and it'll be the first place I stop.

Don't be a victim of expectations. I had read all the glowing reviews, and seen the Best in Jax Award so this place being in the neighborhood I was fairly pumped to give it a try for lunch. I'm not complaining, its just not that good, hell I don't even think its the best pizza on the 1100 block of Blanding! What you can expect is an outstanding value. I don't know where you can go for a 2 slice/drink lunch for $2.99, and 10.99 for a large 3 topping pizza is the best deal around. There's better pizza at The Infield, but not at these prices. Your first trip out you may have some communication issues with the lady behind the counter. And I had to laugh when she came out to change the TV, complained nothing was on, being a football Saturday I naturally suggested ESPN, and she said, "No, I think we'll watch something educational." So in the next 10 minutes I learned how to drill a door for a lock-set. And its hot out there. It was 68 outside, must have been 80 inside and the fans were no help because they weren't turned on. The one thing this place really has going for it is the amazing crispy thin crust, its as good as you'll find anywhere. Definitely worth checking out, just don't be seduced by all the hype.

We had a voucher from an online deal so we decided to check them out. My husband and I are novice food critics since we eat out often. And pizza is high on our lists. The staff was very courteous and filled our order to perfection. I had the white pizza which had broccoli instead of spinach, a nice twist I might add. My husband had the meat pizza with double anchovies. We both enjoyed the pizzas, they were cooked very well without burning. Its a tiny hole in the wall in a small strip mall But I encourage others to check them out.

Although this place has minimal resources and very few bells and whistles, the food was great. Everything was authentic and the meats were far from fillers. The crust was probably the best I've ever had. I'm iffy to give it give stars because of the ho-hum kind of new business feeling, but that's why I'm giving it four.

Naomi B, you were spot on. :-) Nothing special or in your face, nothing that would make me run home and tell mama. Just great NY style pizza, with prices I wish all other business would mimick and a warm staff. They obviously love what they do and don't need to throw a parade to do it! The Walls of Appreciation is pretty impressive too...that on top of everything else mentioned is what gets these folks a strong 4 stars from me. I have only been a couple of times so once I get a more thorough experience, my rating will probably be bumped up or down, depending. Simply put, this is a great lil mom 'n' pop pizza joint!

I have been waiting for 2 1/2 hrs now for my pizza. It's 8:28 and my kids are hungry. I keep calling and the staff is very rude. They don't even apologize for being so late. They just tell me what street there in. Which is no where close to me. If they needed directions id give it to them. But they won't even take my call. I'm having to go get something else for my kids now. Never again will I use them

I.must say. It is. A great honor. to be able to work Around such an amazing group of people. Even on the busier days everything just seemed to flow like an production,I like that they use fresh ingredients in their pizzas /pies. Instead of all that other crap other companies pump into theirs. and Nothing Is pre ready it's always made Fresh You should peek in one day and watch the pizza makers in action I'm telling you it's such a. Intricate art that is amazing!! There was only two places that I would only my children to eat at and this was my #1 choice We try to stray away from the frozen conveyor belt pizza companies and prefer the fresh homemade instead. One day while waiting on my pizza I sat and watched as the workers made my pie I literally was in awe and amazed at how organized they were and how everything just flowed from the spinning of the dough to the baking l! To the actual packaging. Very little needed to be spoken to each other everyone just knew what they were doing it's like a great symphony and the staff what can I say they're just as WONDERFUL it feels like family. I enjoyed what. I observed and experience during my visit there so greatly that I've decided join them and it has proven to be great decision so come by and see me enjoy some GREAT food add as well

This is our go to pizza spot! We order at least once a week. Good prices, no complaints on service and the pizza is the best around this area! We have tried others but always come back to this place. They also have a good lunch combo for 2 slices and a drink. Don't expect fine china and butler service but if you want good pizza this is the place.
(5)Jenn S.
Delicious, homemade thin crust pizza. Exactly the way I like it. Greasy? Yeah, but it's pizza. I don't expect any less. This place isn't like the normal take out pizza places with boring crust. I truly appreciate this place & I'll be back. :)

This is what it's all about, Yeeps. I love Vito's simply because they're Vito's. They don't need 50 different kinds of pizza, pasta and accompaniments to set themselves apart from the rest. They do NY style pizza, and they do it well...so well, in fact, that they've been a fixture in the community for years and years...and this is a tiny, no-frills, family-owned establishment, not a big-name chain. It's located in the Blanding Square Shopping Center (next to McD's), on the corner of Blanding and Jefferson, Orange Park area. Eats: $2.99 for two large one-topping slices and a drink, $3.99 for the three slice special, and a large 1-topping pizza is $7.99 That's some awesome deals, especially if you're rolling on a tight budget. I got my two slices with bacon, and they were LOADED with thick yummy bacon. No, these weren't bits...but good sized real-deal bacon pieces. The sauce was pleasant as well, as it wasn't overpowering, but instead played an equal part to all other components. Being that it's a NY style thin crust, I was a little worried that, at such a good price, taste and/or texture would be compromised. To my relief...nope. The crust served as the perfect vessel, providing just the right amount of crunch to complement the cheesy, bacon-topped goodness. It may not be the best slice I've ever had in my life, but it's definitely a true contender, and the top ranked for value! All-in-all, I'll go out on a limb and vouch for this joint and call it a definite hidden gem. "So why the 5 stars?" you ask? Easy. As I sat eating, I looked around this 7-8 table basically nondescript joint, only to find, upon closer inspection...that their walls are filled with "Thank You" plaques, pictures, and letters. All coming from various local youth sports teams, schools, charities, and organizations that they've contributed to throughout the years. THROUGHOUT. THE. YEARS. They don't pump money into chic decor, instead they let their food speak for itself and give back to their community. This experience alone amplified my profound admiration for the family-run joints out there that struggle day-to-day to make it. From the Lunchbox Deli to the Whiteway Deli...whether by European Street or Maple Street...support your local restaurants and businesses! For great service, food, and value 5 stars and 2 thumbs way up for Vito's!

Walked in at 12:00 for lunch and was confused by the process to get pizza. Do I order and have a seat, wait to be seated and then place a order. I walked up to the front counter and a young woman just looked at me, I asked if we just seat our self and is there room in the back, to which she answered there is someone sitting back there. O.K. ! are they having a private party is there more room What? we just went back and sat down hoping that was the protocol. The place smelled pretty good but it looked dirty and dingy. Mom and pop place O.K. but keep it clean. A male employee came from a back room sweating profusely, wiped his forehead, then took the same hand put his finger over what I guess was salad dressing plastic bottle and gave it a good couple of shakes. He then sat it on the counter and washed his hands and used the damp towel to wipe his sweat again. We had been there for a while 10 Min. and no one came to take an order or tell us we needed to order up front or any thing. Bad Vibe dirty little place left, clean the place up get better hygiene for your employees and be friendly ALL the time to EVERYONE! the pizza smelled good, may have been a good spot but not dirty and unfriendly for me to spend my hard earned money, too many choices out there!!!
