Wife said...." So my husband and I love Italian food and he wanted to take me here but i was a little sketched out by the location. Its right next to a gas station and kind of has the "hole in the wall" look to it. However, this place really surprised me. I ordered the chicken alfredo and it was amazing. The serving sizes look huge because they come on a long plate but really it was enough for one person. All the dishes that came out were really good and flavorful. I would defiantly come back here next time I'm in FL." Hubby said..."So our friend recommended this place and yes it's a hole in the wall. Yes the gas station can get a little scary looking, but this restaurant serves some really good pasta. I got the spinach ravioli and while it's no Il pizzco its really good. This place is really laid back and they usually have one waiter who will strike up conversations with the customers. Makes you feel like at home, so don't expect some top notch serve because that's not what they are about, they are about good food and a home like atmosphere."

if it was any more bland, it'd just be eating dough! I figured it'd be good since it's a hidden hole in the wall w reviews from locals, and it was packed by 7pm on a Thursday but I regret going. don't get me wrong, I ordered a little bit of this and that just to have a taste but there was none here. the food was fresh (hence the only reason for 2 stars) but rather bland. the rolls were just out of the oven without nearly enough garlic. a very tiny salad came with the dinner. after tasting the chicken/pasta, we gave the pizza a try. once again, obviously made fresh but short on the sauce and....bland. I don't think I could even eat the left overs. sorry sorbello

The food is good. However, the portion size can vary greatly. For example, my co-workers and I will go for lunch and I seem to order the smallest dish. I have returned at a later date and will order something that my co-workers couldn't finish, only to receive a smallish portion. Despite this complaint, the food is good. I do recommend the Sara Special with shrimp and scallops. It and the Nick's Special are consistently good (but the portion size is not). Make sure you do have a little time because the food is not pre-made.

Food is very good Italian done in a Sicilian style. The place is in a strip mall and the exterior is bland. We had initially doubts whether this restaurant was as good as the reviews. The menu is also bland in appearance but descriptive enough. Not a great start. However, the food is anything but bland. Each dish has plenty of personality and was very good. The veal was tender; sauces were hearty, tasty and satisfying; eggplant and pasta was cooked just right. Wines were ok. Beer selection minimal. Restaurant wasn't very crowded for a Saturday night so the service was good though the waiter had an accent that some getting use to.

Top notch food, if you want a delicious homemade Italian meal this is the place to go. Everything is cooked to order so you may have a small wait but it is so worth it! :)

Would certainly rate this higher for food taste, but we had non-existent service during our entire meal so tainted our whole experience. I ended up having to share my drink with my husband as no one ever came back after our food was delivered and I had to stop someone other than our server and ask for our check. Chicken Caprese & Spaghetti Carbonara were very good. The lack of fresh drink or server attention will make us hesistate to return. Also, they appeared to be out of quite a few items and several at the nearby table of 10 had to reorder more than once because of this.

Our first visit was today. We ordered a pizza with ground beef, onions and mushrooms. It was fresh!! Nothing canned...no gross tomato sauce on the pizza...crust was soft and delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more items from the menu!

Wow - The Yelp reviews we read are spot on! This little restaurant has outstanding pizza a price that should bring a smile to your face. This is small family owned/operated, local secret, Italian Restaurant close to the Orange Park Mall. Nothing fancy. They have a nice dining room but we chose to sit at a elevated table in the front room so we could watch our pizza being made. We went there for lunch after shopping and we're happy we got there before the local crowd arrived. My wife is a pizza lover that is always in search of the perfect pie. The Gazzella pizza and the house Chianti took her to heaven. We'll be back!

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Jacksonville now. My friend took my husand and I to Sorbello's since we are not familiar with where to find good eats in Orange Park. I am glad she picked Sorbello's. She did warn us that this is a "hole in the wall" restaurant and don't expect anything too fancy. No problem... afterall, it's almost a rule that 90% of the good Chinese restaurants you find would be a "hole in the wall"... so I am comfortable in sitting in a hole in the wall restaurant... We walked in, and my heart sank. My definition of "hole in the wall" doesn't include "no AC". It was hot. But then, thankfully, that was only the area for people to wait and order take outs? Cause the host/server dude took us to the next room, and it was actually bigger than I expected and with AC! My friend later told me that they must have expanded cause she didn't remember this second room. There were already a few tables, but still many tables available. We quickly sat down and looked over the menu. We were pleasantly surprised to see Spaghetti alla Carbonara on the menu. One of our fav Italian dishes. We also tried their chicken marsala, ravioli alla fiorentina, and shared a capricciosa pizza. Everything tasted excellent. The carbonara was very flavorful and generous in portion and the ingredients. The spaghetti was cooked al dante. The chicken marsala was not breaded, but very tender and the sauce wonderful. The ravioli came in a sauce that is to die for. The capricciosa pizza was probably one of the best, if not the best I've ever had. It came with proscuitto, mushroom, and slices of hard egg with mozzarella and marinara sauce. I am determined to go back and try every gourmet pizza they have listed on their menu.... Though it will be very difficult not to order that again....

My husband and I tried the place out for our first date night since baby was born. From the reviews, we were excited to try it. From the outside the place is nothing special. It is in a strip mall setting. The inside is pretty bland too. The waiter was nice, although not very attentive. I was never given a re-fill. The appetizer of bruschetta was good and flavorful. I ordered the chicken parm. Honestly, the pasta was bland and the sauce tasted like it was from a can. The chicken was fatty and tough. Really disappointing

Just visiting the Jacksonville area, used Yelp to find a place close to the Club Continental where we're staying, but first my GPS had to take me to the old location. Google maps found the right place, but from the outside it really doesn't look promising, it's in a strip mall. The sign asserts that inside we will encounter (outside quotes are mine, because I'm quoting from their sign, the inside quotes are theirs, which gave me pause): "Authentic "Sicilian" food" . . . so it's not authentic Sicilian, but rather.... authentic "Sicilian?" Well, as it would turn out, their pasta is much better than their proofreading or punctuation skills. First, we got a teenage "waiter," who asked us if we would like a drink first. While I was looking at the wine rack behind him, he said that they have "Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite...." so I interrupted and asked about the wine. He told us they had "Marlo, but no Chant-illie." Chantilly? After some decoding, I figured it out. "Did you mean, Chianti?" "Yeah, yeah, that." "This Italian restaurant, with authentic "Sicilian" food, has no Chianti?" "Umm, maybe I should go check, you gotta excuse me, I just got called into work after three weeks off." "During which time the place ran out of Chianti?" About this time I figured out that "Marlo"= Merlot. He went back to some woman coming out of the kitchen, together they looked at the wine rack, but sensing a pending unpleasant public scene, the Chief of Staff had already trotted over to said wine rack, identifying a cheap but acceptable Chianti, also ruling out some Sicilian red, and then the first waiter disappeared, not to be seen by us again. Shortly, a different, slightly older waiter came out with our wine, took our order, simple salads with too much Italian dressing and antipasto salad shortly followed. The place was empty, except for a couple of regulars who were clearly enjoying their lasagna. While we were waiting for our pasta, another regular came in, solo, refused to give the order to the waiter, instead asked for Sara, who turned out to be the owner, and the cook. Sara came out, gave him a cheerful greeting and took his order personally, I thought it was funny. My spaghetti and meatballs was excellent, the Chief of Staff's caprese pasta was reportedly quite good too. I'm not sure I would call this authentic Sicilian, and I wouldn't call it authentic "Sicilian," but I would call it authentic Sicilian-American, like any of a dozen restaurants run by a ma-and-pa team with red and white checked plastic table cloths on Taylor Street in Chicago before the University of Illinois expanded, and re-gentrification transformed Little Italy into another soul-less, expensive, non-neighborhood. Here at Sorbello's, I even got a sauce stain on my shirt, just like old times. Sara, the owner, came out to our table to say hi, and until we were done, we thought there were only the two of them, the owner-cook, the waiter, and the kid who was playing waiter when we arrived. Oddly, as we became the last people in the restaurant and they were approaching closing hour, from nowhere appeared three more employees, and all five of them (not the first kid, who knows what happened to him) sat at the counter looking sad and tired. They all perked up when we got the hint and thanked us as we were leaving. I recommend this place for visitors staying in the Orange Park area or nearby in the Southern end of Jacksonville, as well as locals, looking for a casual, relatively inexpensive Italian-American restaurant. A much better choice than one of the corporate chains like Olive Garden or Carrabbas.

Best Italian in Jacksonville! Cooked from scratch, every dish is prepared by a Sicilian Chef. The food is amazing. I had mussels in a red sauce.

This little Mom and Pop (literally) Sicilian food place is worth the stop. The location may leave some in doubt but you can't beat it. The one drawback is they at times run out of menu items such as lasagna and tiramisu so get there early if you want to be assured to get what you want. Great food, great price, great family and wonderful Tiramasu.

This was the second time we've eaten here and only went back because we were part of a group. Overall, the food is just ok. Members of our group had the lasagna, gnocchi, eggplant and some pasta dish. All of us said the same: "It's ok.". The salads are fresh and the tiramisu is outstanding, but all of us would choose other Italian restaurants over this one. I read other yelp reviews and was surprised by the rave reviews. We haven't found anything to rave about and are not likely to go again.

While the ambiance of the interior (and exterior) of the restaurant left a bit to be desired, the food was amazing. The bread they brought out was fresh, hot, and clearly homemade. My pasta dish was super delish, and my husband's dish was excellent as well. Honestly, it made me sad that we seemed to be the only ones in the restaurant. I would love to see them do well because their food is so darn good. This is the best kept secret of Orange Park. It's hard to find non-chain restaurants, so having Sorbello's in town is fantastic.

I came to visit Sorbello's on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the area after hearing me complain that I can't find a decent pizza in the area. After a trip back from the Airport I decided to stop in and give them a try, Sadly we were the only ones in the place but I was pretty early for lunch (11:25) we were greeted promptly with a menu and our drink orders were taken. Moments later fresh baked rolls arrived at the table, I of course asked for a side of marinara sauce and I'm glad I did.. Outstanding. After looking over the menu, pizza was not on my mind anymore. I ordered the Sara's Special (Shrimp, scallops or both sautéed with mushrooms and spinach in a pink sauce) My lunch date ordered the Nick's Special (Chicken, artichoke, spinach, and bruschetta all sautéed together, then baked with cheese on top) I had a good view to the kitchen and could see that Nick didn't look to happy about the first orders of the day being those two items.. As in really dude? It's lunch! I could see he was still prepping for the day but he proceeded to get right on our lunch order. The items arrived at the table after we ate another basket of fresh garlic rolls and asked for a 3rd to sop up all of the delicious sauce on our plates. The ingredients were fresh, the service was great, I've been back twice and have yet to try the pizza. Maybe soon. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the the place needs a good cleaning top to bottom. Cobwebs on the knick knacks throughout the place and the bathrooms could use some attention. But these folks are serving nice fresh food and will get my hard earned money any time I'm in the area. Mangia! Mangia!

I have been coming here for about 3 years....I have never been disappointed! The food has always been exceptional! For the longest time I would only eat the lasagna.....until one day I stopped in and I was told I had to have something different :) In a good way of course. This place has been a second kitchen for me, after mine of course. Some of my favorites are the chicken caprese, lasagna, chicken Marsala, chicken piccata.....my kids love the pizza, stuffed shells, and the ravioli. Love this place!!

Picked up a small pie and soda for a friend in the hospital yesterday. Found this place and figured I'd give it a try. Was smelling really good! Just like NY style pizza. Tasted pretty good!!!

My husband and I decided to give this place a try. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a very friendly server/host. We were seated, drinks were delivered, so far so good...Until I caught something out of the corner of my eye. A tiny roach crawled across our table, then another and another. The waiter came to the table and when we pointed them out, he tried to squash them with his fingers, on the table. He asked if we would like to move. Umm no, we are leaving. I do not care how good others say their food may be, I will never know. I will never set foot in there again. I am curious when the last time the board of health paid them a visit.

Just....no. Wretched looking place. They sat us at a dirty table and never came to clean it. The interior is almost comically offensive - I thought the food would make up for the filthy, stained up church basement chairs. Nope. Sicilian antipasti= Lunch meat and deli cheese served over lettuce with tomato slices and olives and some Italian dressing. Meh. Spaghetti Siciliano= Lousy sauce made with dried herbs and canned tomato. All 4 of us tried to eat it and we couldn't/wouldn't finish it. (Tried to order spaghetti alla vongole, but they didn't have any left). Cheese Pizza= My 3 year old took a bite and said "No" and refused to try anymore. I can't blame him. I ate a piece and my wife ate a piece and we just left the rest. The waiter was seldom available and usually only came to tell us they didn't have something. They refused to honor the "free glass of wine with entree" coupon via Yelp. Way to start off on the wrong foot. As if the crappy looking place wasn't enough. I lived in Napoli for 3 years and visited Sicily a number of times and we love Southern Italian food. I heard them speaking Italian in the kitchen and was really hoping for the best, but we make more authentic Italian food here at home. When we left I said "well, that sucked." My 3 year old said "big sucks, Daddy." Yep. Big sucks, buddy".

Driving around, looking for something not a chain, we found this jewel. I had Nicks special, my wife had chicken riccotta. Mine was great, hers was awesome. Good service, great food. We'll be back!

The food is fantastic. Grubby place to visit and poorly decorated. The restrooms are obviously the last priority. I hope the employees wash their hands...AFTER they wash their hands in the bathroom. Beer on tap is warm, and they keep a pitcher of the foam around????Did not see why, but i kept my eyes on it.

For someone who lived in Italy (Sicily to be exact) for 3 years, this restaurant by far serves the most authentic Italian dishes. I am very picky when it comes to italian food, but I have never eaten anything bad from this restaurant. Unless I am mistaken, I believe one of the owners/cook is Sicilian. I've met him a few times while dining here with my family. He is very welcoming and cares for his customers. You can really taste the flavor profile and taste that fresh ingredients are used. I love the frutti di mare! It's filled with so much seafood, unlike other restaurants that only give you just a bit of clams, shrimp, mussels, and octopus. I've also had the vongole, pasta alla Norma, manicotti, penne puttanesca, ravioli, and I think a few years back they had a lobster ravioli. I've tried a handful of other dishes, but I usually order the same thing everytime (frutti di mare). If you're craving for real Italian food, Sorbello's is the way to go!

Perfect random lunch stop. I was happy with the friendly staff and the atmosphere and the food was fresh, authentic tasting and delicious. I'm Italian so I can vouch for the authenticity of their taste.
