This Steak and Shake rates in the top 10% of all the ones I've eaten at. It does get quite busy at lunch time so that does speak good for this location since there are lots of choices in the immediate area. We've always have gotten good service and the food is presented well. I love their banana shakes always order the premium ones in case you don't know they use fresh bananas for the premiums verses flavorings for the regular ones. This is solid burger joint.

Can't beat the price if you are hungry at $4 a dinner I love the fries they are small in size. And the shakes are the best

They need to put more effort into cleanliness. Restrooms were horrible, and smell like mildew & rancid soap. Seems like they use dirty mop water to clean and you can't help wonder if the kitchen is just as filthy.

I've eaten at Steak 'n Shake for many years. My experience varies. This experience was rather Blah....not horrible and nothing happened that would make me not return. But a few 'sins' were committed by this particular establishment. I was greeted rather quickly by the staff and shown to a seat. The greeter was very friendly and I had hoped she would be my server. But, that didn't happen. In fact, having a server didn't happen for almost 10 minutes (sin #1).. Not even a fly-by to ask if I wanted water. The restaurant was about half full / half empty and it looked like a decent amount of staff were working so I am going to pawn this to lazy.. Then my waitress arrived. Took my order and seemed friendly enough.. but then suddenly her attitude changed. it was a bit particular. I hadn't spoken about anything other than my order. After she took my order she continued to speak to me while walking away and not facing me (sin #2). My drink did arrive rather quickly. So that's good. Then shortly after my food arrived. As I said in the beginning of this article I have eaten at steak 'n shake many times. I was a little disappointed to see my burger and been thrown together with the meat falling out off the bun instead of crafted together as usual. It seemed they just didn't care. Most of my meals at Steak n Shake do look like the menu items. But, I pushed the food together and ate. Positive taste.. no issues with the quality of food. Everything was cooked correctly and tasted good. The short order cook that day was spot on...taste wise.. I had no further communication with my waitress (sin #3). She never bothered to check on my food status or my drink refill levels.. not once. When she saw I had consumed the entire burger and fries then she appeared to give me the check. So, where does this leave me.. with the bill of course.. Not bad.. I believe it was a little under $6 all together.. Nothing is free really.. I did leave a tip more out of guilt than anything earned. I base my Blah experience more on location. This is Orange City, FL.. nothing worth seeing here expect maybe Blue Springs. The city is crap and old.. so guess what you have working fast food.. well, you guessed it. If you must have Steak 'n Shake than it's ok to stop.. Don't expect to be a wow factor.

Management needs to be GONE !!!!! Walk by customers and ask if everything is ok and doesn't wait for a response and keeps walking. Cooks yea need to wash there hands and clean the grill or simply wipe it down. you don't make pancakes on a grill that just cooked onions. Staff is good. The coffee was filled and was polite and prompt. Again the management NEEDS TO BE GONE !!!! Rude management in the morning . I wouldn't treat my enemy the way he treated me. Ohhh and when you need to blow your nose. Customers GO TO THE RESTROOM! !!!! nothing worse then eating hearing that sound

Half price happy hour on Milkshakes between 2pm-5pm is what brought us here, the aroma of greasy burgers and fries are what kept us here! This location is always busy. You can expect to wait in line for a few minutes while the waitresses hustle to get tables clean and ready. Is it worth the wait? My inner frugal says HECK YES! Where else can you get two large milkshakes and 2 meals for under $15? Besides drive-thru! I'm loving their $4 menu, it has classics like burger, fries, hot dogs, and chili. Healthy? No...but they have options for that too! If you get the $4 chicken tender meal (my fave) try the honey mustard sauce! Great customer service, too!

If I could give this a lower rating I would. Worst food ever. The hamburger bun was so stale it was rock hard and my food was ice cold. I called the manager and she did not offer to do anything she just said oh my. A twenty year old twit does not need to be running a restaurant. Keep letting these idiots run your places of business and let's see how long it takes before you go out of business.

Ok, I'll admit it already. I love Steak & Shake. The place isn't always clean. The food isn't even remotely healthy. The service is average at best. But you know what? I absolutely love gorging on a double steakburger every once in a great while. I try to avoid coming here b/c of the health issue, but when you make up your mind to go, it's delicious. Their steak franks are the best hog dogs I've had in Florida. Even better than my own on the grill I think. Of course, they have shakes. What with it being in the name of the place and all. And the shakes are good. VERY good. I will confess to more than one late-night shake run.

HOLY SNORKIES THIS PLACE IS ALWAYS BUSY. I'm giving it four stars only because they make some of the best burgers, fries and shakes anywhere around. I'd give them a 2 star rating for speed of service--usually lots of empty dirty tables and a long wait to be seated and more often than not, a long wait for servers to take order, check up on orders, etc. Unless you sit at the bar. Then you get pretty darn good service. The prices are decent, the burgers are YUMMY. I love the cheddar cheese steak burger and the mushroom and swiss burgers. I also love the parmesan fries. I'd take the wait and dirty tables (actually, to be fair, the whole place is rather a wreck--the FLOOR desperately needs to be stripped and waxed, the windows and glass between booths regularly cleaned, menus need to be wiped clean, the windows need to be washed, the tables need to have everything removed and wiped as well as the seats--but I guess with their turn around they figure people won't care about the cleanliness...and they don't seem to. I have to just ignore my OCD about clean restaurants when I am there. Still, I'd rather eat a burger there than Wendys, McDonald's or Burger King any day of the week. And the shakes are to die for delicious.

Great Burgers, my favorite is the Royale, which is a double cheeseburger topped with a fried egg

Considering that I am the Duchess of this establishment (and believe when I say this responsibility is a load on my shoulders), I feel as though I should make a statement: You already know what Steak 'N Shake tastes like. Carry on.

Hard to try the food when you can't get waited on . Waited 10 min with 5 servers working and it was like we had the plague or something. This was at 8:30 pm so it wasn't like they were swamped. We finally just got up and left. This place is a s*ithole. Dirty tables, etc, the first review listed here has the place down good. They should bulldoze it over it is so dirty. Steak & Shake should be ashamed to call this a restaurant.
