Good Drinks, and Ok Food Driving by this place on almost a daily basis I finally decided to give it a shot after hearing mixed reviews. Overall I'd say this is a good place to grab some drinks and an Ok place to grab dinner. The bar selection is very good. Lots of great beers on tap and the Bourbon selection was quite surprising. Dinner on the other hand was not overwhelmingly good. We started with the Beef Kabobs and Grilled Oysters. While the Beef lacked flavor the Oysters where probably the best thing I tasted all night. Grilled to perfection with a layer of parm cheese and lemon. For entrees our party had the pork tenderloin, beef stir fry, shrimp and grits, and grilled chicken. All lacked flavor and where nothing to be impressed with.

The kale Caesar salad is huge, hearty, tastier than it sounds and comes with hard boiled eggs and bacon. The veggie flat bread is to die for. The specialty cocktails are really good and priced very well.

Strawberry shine cocktail is smooth delightfully strong. The nachos are packed with warm melted cheese and tons of beans and jalapeño. The blt could be changed up to include goat cheese instead of pimento cheese spread. But it was still super yummy because it comes with pork belly!

Comfortable atmosphere and good service! Ordered the Ribeye steak with grits and house salad. Steak was cooked to the appropriate temperature, tender, juicy, and nicely trimmed so 8 ounces was plenty - a little under-seasoned for my liking, but salt fixed that. I really liked the grits - didn't taste smoked gouda in them but I did like the fresh herbs (rosemary?). Salad was nice mixed greens with a honey mustard type dressing. Will definitely revisit.

Good food, service and atmosphere Prime rib was delicious and a good cut Liked the honey mustard-ish dressing on the house salad Back wall is glass so you can watch the chefs work Happy hour had draft PBR for cheap. Hipsters unite!

What a great spot! It always helps when you have friendly attentive staff also, which we did. Her name is Jess. You MUST try the candied bacon, and the shrimp-stuffed portobello. Unique & delicious. Bon appetit =D

The food was mediocre. Service was good. I ordered the roasted beet salad with goat cheese and arugula. Since it started with the name roasted beet, I was surprised to see a mound of arugula coming my way with four tiny fried balls of goat cheese mixed with other things. The beets were thinly sliced on the bottom of the plate. Not exactly an entree salad more like a side salad with a hefty price tag. The nachos that came out were on the weirdest crisps (they weren't chips so I'm going to call them something else) I've ever had. It wasn't standard nacho chips but something like fried rounds of dough or something. Most of the layer of crisps didn't have toppings and it was bland beyond bland. The crisps were very flimsy and broke easily. They also quickly became soggy and inedible. The two skewers of filet mignon were good but tiny so definitely not something to share. I tried a piece of flat bread and it wasn't bad. None of the dishes were shareable. I wouldn't rush back here since the food wasn't particularly memorable.

After two friends rescued me from the east coast to tour their digs in the West I was so enthusiastic to embrace the fresh seafood that seems more readiily available in the greater Tampa area than what we get here in Miami-Dade/Broward. So even after my introduction to the place treasures of the World Market in Naples as we continued north the ride seemed it would never end; as you can guess we are not only hungry but getting grumpy. I was assured this was a great tavern with goodies on the menu, but I might have to wait for my search for fresh (affordable) oysters. Look no further kids, they're on the menu at Salt Rock, fresh and at a very affordable price. Our dashing young waiter, Chad, waited on us assiduously as we then tucked into a duck flatbread (pizza) decorated with splashes of balsalmic (it was fantastic). Realizing the hour and how we weren't nearly as hungry as before we all opted for sandwich sized options that one might be more inclined to eat at lunch, but never-you-mind, they were quite filling. I had the meatloaf sandwich with truly delightful hushpuppies (seems like a weird combo but it works) and was quite full after scarfing down bite after yummy bite. This resto-bar is just one of several culinary establiishments owned by a group of very creative people and I have to say, if they can afford east coast rents, by all means please come to Fort Lauderdale, you would be most welcome indeed! And bring Chad!

We seem to have mixed experiences here. It drives me nuts that the inside tables near the bar are 1st come so you're forced to stalk people leaving in order to get a table. But if you get a beeper & wait outside 10 other people are seated 1st. Ugh. I didn't come to compete for tables. Only solution is to have a reservation which rules out any spontaneous visits in the future. Plus they forgot to give us forks so apparently they thought steak knives were all we needed. They brought ap plates 15mins after our nachos arrived. The Guava margaritas, Long Island & tuna napoleon stack was great so I'm happy......or possibly just tipsy.

Just dropped in and had a great meal here! So many things sounded good on the menu, that I couldn't decide so I ended up ordering 3 small plates. The filet mignon k-bobs, rock'n shrimp and the fried green tomato 'blt'. The k'bobs were cooked perfectly, lots of flavor. Rock'n shrimp were great, just the right amount of spiciness. The blt was my favorite though, big fried green tomato, pimento cheese, and pork belly.... Could you ask for a better combination?! The wait staff was very friendly as well as the manager, who came by to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. Drop by here you will not be disappointed!

Great atmosphere, lovely staff. We avoid this place many only because there aren't many healthy options on the menu - had issues in the past when attempting to modify a dish to make it healthier (it was re made a second time incorrectly). Last time we were in we enjoyed drinks and salads before going to dinner at another place and really enjoyed our selves at salt rock.

Glad I finally made it to this place. I've tried to come several times before and it's always been jam packed...There's definitely a good reason for that. This place is great! The first thing that stuck out to this beer lover was their extensive draft beer list.. It was huge! It was not the typical Bud,Coors , Miller selection either . It was filled with some of the best craft breweries in the area ( Cigar City, Florida Ave, Tampa Brewing Co...etc). A huge plus for me! The food was delicious. I went with the rotisserie chicken and was not disappointed one bit. Everyone else in my party raved about the food as well...Even my grandparents who are typically very picky when eating out. Service was wonderful. Our waiter was very friendly and helped us with food and drink recommendations anytime we needed them. My sister received the wrong dish at dinner but both the waiter and the manager were very apologetic and quickly fixed the problem. They even offered free dessert which was nice to see. Will be back for sure!

So another one of those places that just feels too "franchise-y" for me. It wasn't a bad experience - rather pleasant really, considering the large group that showed up. And the food itself, at least my kale caesar salad, was pretty good. The service was decent though we had to flag our server down once or twice to get drinks refilled and for napkins, but they were quick to show back up with the required items once we got their attention. Don't know that I'd go out of my way to go here, but I might try it again.

I debated whether or not to give 2 or 3 stars. My husband I went for a late lunch today (2:00 PM) and it was our first time at the restaurant. When we walked it, it was not that busy yet there was nobody at the hostess stand to greet us. To make matters worse, at least two staff members walked by us without saying a word or evening a greeting. Finally a server asked if we had been helped and then proceeded to seat us even though it was not her job. Jason was our server and he was GREAT! Very high energy and friendly. Food was just OK, nothing great! Deviled eggs were boring. We had the two favorites deal where you get salad, small entree and dessert for two for $25. I had the coconut shrimp, only 4 shrimp and didn't eat them all. Wasn't very good...tasted too fishy. My fries were also soggy. My husband had the roasted chicken and he liked it. Our salads were good and dessert was pretty good. When we left, there were THREE people standing at the hostess stand and not one of them said a word to us...NOTHING! No goodbye, thank you, drop dead...nothing! That is a big pet peeve of mine! If it were not for Jason, we probably would not go back because there are so many other places to go. But we might give it another try if we are in the area. The restaurant is nice and clean on the inside.

Solid Brunch & Burgers. Love their Asian inspired Wings. The Supper Club that they offer on Weekdays is a great deal. It's a local go to spot with excellent Beer on Tap.

Disappointed this visit. Service was extremely slow. We just stopped by for apps and drinks. We ordered the nachos. They were ridiculous. For $9 There were 7 nacho chips and when you tried to pick one up off the plate what little topping there was on it stayed on the plate.

This is a fun little gem, especially during Happy Hour. They have all kinds of beer on tap - quite impressive, if you ask me. Their appetizer menu is vast - although who the hell serves up deviled eggs besides Grandma? Their Crab Stuffed Portabella is to die for. Love their pulled chicken sandwich. The fries are presented in an adorable fry basket and come fresh. No soggy fries. Yes! I was impressed with their drink list as we'll. They have quite a few tasty cocktail offerings. The time we went it wasn't very busy and the service was undeniably slow. I'm not sure why either, as there were many staff that evening. It was a unique place for dinner though we more than the average 'bar food'. Prices were reasonable and the facility was very clean and trendy.

Stopped here after a movie based on location and interesting menu. Found a moderate selection of beers and some creative appetizers (truffle fries, stuffed portobello). The chef adds focus to locally sourced foods though a little predictable on the steak and seafood choices. Overall food was pretty good but the service was abysmal - slow and sloppy. It didn't appear to apply to all but clearly the servers who worked our table had never been trained how to take orders or present food. The table was not cleared between courses, no fresh silverware and the entrees were practically thrown down at random and not in front of the diner. Just amateurish - kids serving without thought. Kind of ruined the night really. - originally a lower rank but Chef/GM followed up after which was nice.

We arrived ten minutes before opening, but without our asking the bartender setting up the patio bar cheerfully suggested that they they would probably let us into the dining room. He was right. By the time we got through the door, the hostess was grabbing two menus. She warned us that the floor might be slippery as they had just finished cleaning up. As we were approaching our table, a man who may have been a crew chief gave us a similar polite advisory. We were getting the impression that the staff here was either well-trained and/or extremely thoughtful. Our server confirmed that impression. I asked her if SRT had a draught list or if she could name their IPAs. She showed me the list and then named all their IPAs, skipping the merely pale ales. This from someone who may not have been able to vote in the last election. We ordered a couple of brews and half a dozen grilled oysters to go with. Raw oysters were listed at the same $5 happy hour price, but we tend not to eat raw oysters in months without r's. Not for health reasons, but because oysters spend most of the summer procreating. Think about it. Anyway, three things stood out about the oysters: they were incredibly free of grit, the shells were pristine, and the cheese was great without overpowering the mollusks. We asked our server if the kitchen scrubbed the oysters and if the cheese was American Parmesan, reasoning that the Italian stuff would have been too intense for this application. After checking with the kitchen, she reported that they did not scrub the oysters and that the cheese no longer had a label. The oysters were too good to quibble about minor details. We ordered more. I'm perfectly happy eating grungy oysters with a reasonable amount of grit. But these seemed as if they had prepped themselves for a white glove inspection with the prospect of a weekend pass. If you try them, I hope SRT happens to be using the same supplier. We finished up with an Ybor burger and Parmesan truffled fries. The juicy burger was cooked to order and had fresh vegetables. The list of ingredients was as long as Star Wars credits. The house-made pickles and pickled onions were colorful and tasty. The burger came with spectacular bacon. Next time, I will have to check if they have BLTs. Any of the three dishes we tried would bring us back again. We had just a narrow slice of the menu and would like to try more, especially local seafood. The outfit that owns Salt Rock Tavern appears to be a class act. We have eaten in five of their venues and regularly revisit four. It's clear that a lot of money and effort went into outfitting the place and building a competent and friendly staff. Cons: 1. Given better taste and lots of money, I might build my own SRT. Its industrial design appeals to me: servers could probably schlep dishes from the kitchen to most of the tables with a small forklift. What I think diminishes the property is that it could be anywhere, say Las Vegas or a high-end food court, or a mockup in a New Jersey warehouse designed to impress potential franchisees. Other Bay Star properties, such as the Salt Rock Grill, are more successful in asserting their Florida roots. 2. One of the joys of dining in Florida is being able to eat outside. While nicely laid out and equipped with lots of fans, SRT's outdoor area appears to catch a lot of the afternoon and evening sun. This might be great in the winter but was a definite show stopper in late June. 3. My guess is that the entity that owns SRT does centralized buying and menu planning. This is useful for quality control and economies of scale and probably essential if the menus are centrally planned. But it does leave us with chefs who may not know what kind of cheese that they are using. 4. The hand-written notes on most of the doors linking the dining room and bar are a little tacky and leave the purpose of the doors ambiguous. Are they emergency only, staff only, exit only, dictated by the fire code, vestigial anachronisms from a previous lessee or what? This may be too picky, but if you think of the Bay Star eateries not as a chain of identical spots but as battle group of mission-specific ships, a tightly run ship would have better control of its doors. As it is, an approaching customer must navigate a gauntlet of false entrances, and a departing customer must risk the possible wrath of staff or take the long way out.

Upon the suggestion of my girlfriend we paid an impromptu visitor to the Salt Rock Tavern on New Years Eve. It was a great choice for many reasons! First let's start off with the hand crafted cocktails and their large selection of craft beers. To start Renata had the Tavern Pearl which has goose, St. Germaine, red grapefruit juice, lemon and simple syrup. It was exquisite. I had a Jai Alai .. (Gotta support the local beer) it too was exquisite. For an appetizer, and since it is in season, we ordered a dozen raw oysters on the half shell. The oysters were sooo good we ordered another dozen! Try this.. Squeeze a little lime and a dash of salt on the oysters... Phenomenal! As for dinner, I went with the shrimp and grits and she had the Mahi Alfredo. The shrimp and grits were on point. They were seasoned just right with a nice richness to balance the spice. The Mahi Alfredo was also pretty good good.. It was what you may expect.. Grilled Mahi with pasta Alfredo. The shrimp and grits was by far superior to the Mahi. The service was great and the prices where reasonable .., this place could be the spot in Oldsmar!

I am visiting Tampa to see some family. My Uncle happened to point this place out the other day. Said he "heard it was good". I decided to Yelp it and I am glad I did. The atmosphere was alive even on a Wednesday night. Walking into the place I liked the decor and bar. We were greeted and sat immediately. Our waiter, Jason, checked in on us shortly to explain the specials/happy hour. We chose the Raw Oysters and Grilled Oysters to start. Only $5 per 1/2 dozen! Beer list was on point and the Softshell Crab Sandwich caught my eye. We both got the same thing. I requested to make my fries Truffle Fries. Food came before our appetizers on a busy night. The manager came by and apologized and picked them up. This was not our waiters fault. Sandwich was excellent. Great flavor and perfectly cooked. Truffle fries were the bomb and I got to take a breather and enjoy some delicious oysters in between. I thoroughly enjoyed the place and will def be back!

Delicious! My fiance and I came here with two of our friends and all four of us could not stop oohing and ahing over our food. Our waiter Ryan accepted our picky requests without hesitation and exceeded our expectations! I had the honey garlic chicken wings (which I had asked them to make non-spicy if possible, which they nailed) and Parmesan truffle fries which were also fantatstic. The other three had burgers/chicken sandwich and all of them thought the flavors were phenomenal. Their specialty mixed drinks are also spectacular (even though I had to get my blackberry bourbon lemonade without the alcohol this time, it was still super tasty!) Will definitely be trying again! My only slight complaint (which was okay for us because we dined later so our waiting time wasn't that long) was that there was no waiting area. There is one bench outside available to sit on, which was sufficient for us but I can see how on a Friday night at prime time this could be a problem.

I have wanted to go here for months. I was so disappointed. We went for Sunday brunch and if you decide to go, take a designated driver because the only thing with flavor are the make your own Bloody Mary's. The eggs Benedict really had no flavor. Fresh roast beef was tough and over cooked. The paella was dry, and I am pretty sure the yellow rice just had food coloring to make it appear yellow. The grilled vegetables were there for at least an hour and a half and never refreshed. Same thing with the grouper cheeks. There appeared to be no one person in charge of the brunch food to keep it coming out fresh. It is pretty bad when the crock pot of soup hadn't been touched in two hours simply because there were no bowls. We were not rushed which was nice. The dessert serving sizes were good. You really couldn't over eat on them.

First experience 4/20/15. Drinks were well done. Service was spot on. Food was cook well, but small portions for the price. I expected more. The Key Lime Pie was nice. I do believe they should consider their location when pricing there food, in a strip mall, with a view of the traffic, not the water

Salt Rock Tavern is a great addition to the westchase/oldsmar area of town. Located next to Rumba Grill, Salt Rock Tavern offers a wide array of tap beers, fancy drinks and some good food. The layout is opening and inviting and open enough that you don't feel cramped or on top of each other. We met for a work function and grazed on appetizers and beers. We had their version of bang bang shrimp (bonefish is better), the tuna stack, flatbread, French onion dumplings (skip them), buffalo chicken dip and the apple crisp. Most of the appetizers were good , although a bit pricey. Their beer selection was phenomenal with about 7 different seasonal beers. Would I return? Yes, but from a price standpoint, I don't feel as though their going to win Happy Hour of the town award. They'd need to lower their prices or offer 2-1 deals.

Went with my parents, and none of us really loved it. I guess we expected a little more from a restaurant related to Salt Rock Grill and Island Way. Positives: Service. The staff was friendly, prompt and inviting. Water in a wine-bottle on the table is a nice touch. House Cabernet was tasty and appropriately priced. The house salad was delicious and so were the mashed potatoes underneath the steak stir fry. Needs work: The food. Food is the primary reason for dining out. The only thing that I ate that was really good was the house salad. The steak stir fry had a marinade that just didn't jibe with the rest of the entree. The Parmesan truffle fries we ordered as an appetizer were too soggy, probably due to the overwhelming amount of truffle oil that was used. The wings we ordered as a second appetizer were served with a meager portion of blue cheese dressing. It came on a small decorative ladle which was cute, but not enough for the portion of wings that is contained in the order. The wings weren't very meaty and the thick glaze on them just caused a giant mess instead. Maybe they could add some bread to the table? I know that I left slightly hungry... Entertainment: TVs in booths are a nice touch....but not if you have no access to changing the channel! The server explained that they kept the remote control in the servers' hands to protect them from theft and/or damage. That just makes the server's job more difficult as they then have to stand there and tune to the channels for you. Since the server did not know which channels the restaurant subscribed to, we were stuck with the Direct TV screensaver for the bulk of our dining experience. This feature needs work. Overall, it was...meh. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine there unless there were a massive special going on.

Since opening last Tuesday (5/8) I've had a chance to visit on more than one occasion and already have plans to go back. This place is part of the Salt Rock Grill, Rumba and Island Way Grill family. It has a very modern and contemporary look and feel to it. Lots of beer on tap and and if you're hungry they have a great menu to choose from. The restaurant staff are very friendly and personable, they really make you feel welcome. The manager, Andres, is really on his game and goes out of his way to make you feel at home. We most recently came here for a Mother's Day Brunch Buffet that they were hosting; hands down it was one of the best ones in the area! They had something for everyone. There was your typical waffle, omelette and carving stations, as well as, a large selection of seafood that included smoked salmon, blue point oysters, crayfish, shrimp and a variety of fish dips too. For those that are looking for more or are not big fans of the typical brunch fare: there was also, homemade Cajun Gumbo, blintzes, pastries, fresh fruit, french toast, potatoes, turkey sliders, variety of salads, Eggs Benedict, salmon hash, they even had paellas. Just make sure you leave room for the dessert bar! Best of all they had a huge bloody mary bar where you could mix your drink the way you like it and garnish it with anything you could possibly have a desire for. Not only was the food great, but the price was affordable. Overall the food was great and the staff was friendly. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

This was our first time here. We had amazing service. Emily was great. She made sure we were good even though we were only ordering cocktails at first. We ended up ordering maple candied bacon and nachos (on Emily's suggestion) and they were delish! Our drinks were never empty and the general manager Tyson came to our table and he was so nice (even though he was a Gators fan). We will for sure go back for many more date nights. Drink prices very reasonable and the atmosphere was chill and welcoming. Can't wait to go back and try more of that awesome food! The bacon made my fiancés nipples hard ;)

We decided to sit on the patio to have appetizers and wine at about 8:45 pm Friday, as it was too late to eat a full meal. Sitting outside turned out to be a poor choice, as the music across the street at Rumba Room (Same owners?) was so loud that we pretty much had to yell to hear each other. In addition, the music on the patio from Salt Rock Tavern was on as well.....the cacophony was nearly unbearable. Appetizer food: Fries w/cheese and truffle oil - were not crisp, lukewarm. We would have enjoyed them had they been freshly made and hot - what a shame. Filet Kabobs: Meat quality and tenderness was not up to standard, according to my friend that had eaten there before. I thought it was tasty, but she was right about the meat....this was disappointment #3 (music, fries, kabobs ) Dinner Plate: (we split this entree) Shrimp and Grits: Anson Mills grits (true South Carolina Grits!) were great. Sadly, these great grits were pretty much ruined by the overly spiced sauce on the shrimp (way too spicy, overpowering and I really LIKE spicy) AND the shrimp were disguised by a couple nice sized ones in the middle of the plate, that covered the other (41-50 count smaller) additional shrimp of lesser quality. Overall: This is not a restaurant that befits the quality of a Chivas establishment, period.

Shrimp and grits was amazing! Our waiter was amazing! Can't remember his name but I'm sure he could make a career out of being a waiter. He's that good. We went with another couple who love this restaurant and now we love it too. Hubby had the meatloaf which he says was the "F'ing bomb". Truffle fries...yum! We will be back, no doubt!

I am giving this place 2 stars based on the food. The atmosphere is pretty cool and they have TVs at each booth. The food however was not good. We had buffalo wing dip as an app. It was all dark meat chicken and it was sort of bland. I had a burger which I had high hopes for but fell short. The French fries looked about as good as fast food fries. My friend ordered chicken rockin' bleu and it was a small over priced piece of chicken and a small side of corn I absolutely LOVE salt rock grill on Indians rocks beach so I'm not being biased!

Came here on a saturday night at 810 or so. It was a really busy night I supposed. There were no booths or tables available. But there was a high top available but we had to wait for that to be cleaned off. We ordered drinks first: I ordered a hibiscus lemonade- amazing, and my friend ordered the snap, crackle and pop- pretty good too. We ordered hush puppies as our appetizers. A soft shell crab sandwich for me and some beef stirfry dish for my friend. The hush puppies came out in about 10 mins. And the actually food didn't come out until 8:55 AFTER I asked out server if she knew our food would be coming out soon because we had somewhere to be in 20 mins. So quite a bit of a wait for the food- 20-25 mins. We scarfed down what we could and to-go'd the rest. I ordered my sandwich with no tomatoes but there was tomatoes. The server was attentive and friendly though. Food was pretty good. Just a failure to follow a simple order and a long wait. Atmosphere was okay.. Lively. Loud music, lots of loud talking. I'll give it another shot and see how the service and wait time goes.

I've been here twice now, both times for dinner....once just me and the hubs, the second time with our kids for my dad's birthday. We've had good experiences both times. The first was date night...we made a reservation, but they were slammed so there was still a 15 min wait. We opted to sit at the bar immediately. The bartender was very knowledgable on their large beer selection (great craft beers, btw), and she allowed us to sample a few before we made our selections. We ordered several small plates...beef tenderloin skewers, French onion dumplings, truffle fries, and the rock 'n shrimp. All were great, but the dumplings were amazing!! The next time was a Friday night. We were seated immediately when we arrived. Our server was wonderful, especially for my dad who was being particularly indecisive. We again ordered the dumplings and truffle fries, but we all opted for entrees this time around. Parents both had burgers, hubs had the oldsmar flatbread (awesome!), and I had shrimp & grits (also great, but very filling). Only complaint was on the burgers...kids also had them, ordered medium, came out rare. We did send them back and asked for well, they came back just over medium. Other than that, no complaints!

'Yay! I'm a fan' of their Sunday brunch. The brunch variety is simply wowing. There is something for everyone. From breakfast type items to full Lunch dishes. Take tastes and you realize each dish is the same quality as if they were served during regular hours right off the menu. They don't cut any corners around taste. The Paella to gumbo to stir-fry to eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, self serve soft ice cream with pick your own toppings and added two Mimosa per adult patron - a killer combination of brunch variety to get lost in. They keep the brunch tables well attended and you will not find any dish running low for more than a few minutes. The staff are very attentive and tend to your needs carefully. It is clearly evident that Salt Rock Oldsmar is trying to impress their brunch crowd - I'm impressed. I have to return for regular hours dining to get the rest of the scoop.

Salt Rock Tavern is a great new restaurant that has opened in the area, and I have had the fortunate to eat there several times. First, the location is great. Plenty of parking, a great open air bar area, the only way it could be better was if it was on the beach. Inside it is clean and modern, and they have a giant set of windows that lets you look right into the kitchen, so you can see your food being prepared. The drink specials here are great, and you will find quite a few unique entries. They have beer cocktails, which isn't something you will find that often. They also have a few unique signature drinks that really play well with the American pub food theme. The prices aren't bad and you get extremely large filled glasses. As far as the food, everything is cooked perfectly. I enjoyed a burger and several appetizers. Now, I feel they do rely a little bit too much on fancy additions to items, using truffle oil and the like, when in reality, the quality of the product is so great, you don't need those big ticket additions to enhance it. Over all though, the food was excellent. Service was a little lackluster, took time both for drinks, getting orders taken, and getting food. I attribute this though to how recently the restaurant opened and assume that it will get better over time.

Had dinner here this past week. It was quite amazing. We ordered a couple of martini's off their $5 happy hour menu. They were quite delicious! I recommend the Key Lime Pie martini. Yum! Our dinner entrees were very good too! We'll be back to try another menu item, or even their brunch on Sunday! :)

I've been twice now, and I like it. The drinks are really strong and really interesting--I had the blackberry bourbon lemonade both times and it was amazing and delicious. The food I've tried has only been so-so. The nachos are not nachos but little rounds topped with cold chicken and cilantro. Not very good. The truffled parmesan fries are delicious, though the order we had could have been hotter and it'd be nice if they offered a sauce to dip with. I've also had the buffalo chicken dip which was perfectly spicy. For the desserts I've tried the strawberry shortcake which was disappointing as the basil aioli was extremely bitter and did nothing to compliment the sweetness of the berries. The chocolate coconut in a mason jar is OUT OF THIS WORLD and I would seriously go back for just that. The apple crisp was tasty as well. I'd like to come back soon to try an actual entree and more dessert. The atmosphere is fun, and the servers are pretty okay. Me likey.

Great food, great beer selection, with a casual upscale environment. I really enjoyed my visit here. There is a variety of seating from high tops in the bar area, seats at the bar, booths, and other tables, plus outdoor patio seating. (If not for the awful live music over at Rumba next door, we would have sat outside.) It's a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside. There are several very large tables in the bar area that would be perfect for large groups. We had the onion rings which came with a ridiculously tasty maytag blue cheese aioli. Wow. My veggie stack sandwich was awesome and I especially liked the lime flavored sauce.,The truffle parmesan fries were also a nice touch. I tried some of my wife's shrimp and grits, and it had a wonderful smoked gouda cheese sauce mixed in. But by far the star of the show was dessert. The apple pie crisp with cinnamon ice cream was so good it would make yo' momma cry. I'm not a big dessert person but this was one of the top 3 desserts I've ever had. I would go there again just for this dessert! The service was outstanding, and other than a funky tasting drink my wife ordered from the bar, everything was perfect.

I went today for brunch and was pretty impressed. The selection was extensive from traditional breakfasty stuff to hot pasta dishes and paella. There were also complimentary mimosas. For 10.95 it was a great deal. The server tells us that price won't be that low forever so I recommend going before (and after) they change it. Can't wait to try their regular menu!

Having only been once, I'm hoping that I can go back and update this review as I just wasn't really impressed. The place was packed on a Saturday night and we were able to find a seat at one of the bar tables. It's got a dark, bar type vibe and it's got numerous tv's which was a plus for watching pre-season football. Our server took a minute or two getting to us at first but then the service was good after that. I was starving so we started with the french onion soup ball app was pretty tasty as was my wedge salad. Unfortunately, the shrimp and grits were only so-so and my boyfriend's burger was dry. On the plus side the apple crisp for dessert was delicious. I would love to go back and sample some other dishes because I see a lot of great reviews on here.

Enjoyed an dinner dinner with several friends on the outside covered patio. I had the meatloaf dinner which was quite flavorful, but not overpowering. I ordered the asparagus as a side item. I was disappointed in it for the spears although quite long in length, they were overly thick, nearly the roundness of my thumb. Four spears to the serving and they lacked flavor and were too chewy. Other than that, the meal was good and I will go back again.

I've anticipated the opening of this new drinking/dining establishment for quite some time now with much curiosity and enthusiasm, as my office is nearby and had learned of its concept and development as I watched its construction these past months. It is a Baystar Group venture from the proprietor(s) of Salt Rock Grill, Rumba, Island Way & Marlin Darlin, being familiar with all, and having had varying experiences with, said all.....So now introducing Salt Rock Tavern! At first entrance you notice all the large screen HD TVs, the long metal bar exposing 30 + beers on tap (many, local and/or Florida brews), the beautiful high-top pressed wood tables, ceilings made from the recycled dock wood from the Salt Rock Grill at the beaches and the booths with individual HD TV screens to accommodate and entertain all. (Already looking forward to perhaps a new home for NFL Sundays) - Just outside are a number of patio tables and high-top tables/chairs along side of the Tiki Bar for those desiring to enjoy a meal/beverage outdoors. (Don't sweat it; you can catch the games out there too!) My first visit, opening week, was to check out Happy Hour with a few colleagues, for Beer/Wine/Drink specials from 4-7 and had the opportunity to meet a few of the staff/bartenders who were very personable and shared with us some cool info about the restaurant, served me up a few glasses of wine and some beer on tap, and was able to sample a few of the appetizers on the menu. The General Manager, Andres introduced himself as he delivered us some Truffle Parmesan Fries, the Oldsmar Flatbread and Beer Battered Onion Rings with a Blue Cheese Aioli. The Drinks...(Wine & cold draft Beer served in a Goblet)...Can't Go Wrong! The Food...Tasty! The Service...Impressive! My return visits were later in the evening for a night cap, where I indulged in a few other beers on tap and a shot or 2 while enjoying the NHL playoffs and conversing with the bar staff and management - followed by a fantastic and enjoyable Sunday, Mother's Day Brunch. Another pleasurable visit, although this time, was able to try some more of their food. Waffles, Omelette Station, Salmon Hash & Eggs Benedict, Carving Station with both Roast Beef and Ham, various Pasta's, Salads, Cold Cuts & Blintzes, Paella's and delicious Gumbo, Raw Bar with Blue Point Oysters, Shrimp Cocktail, Smoked Salmon and Fish Dips. A true smorgasbord and assortment of foods which one would expect at Brunch, coupled with some Mimosas and a "make your own" Bloody Mary Bar complete with all the fixings. All this great food...wonderful service...in a terrific atmosphere...Anxious to head back soon for more Drinks & Dinner! Welcome to Oldsmar....Salt Rock Tavern!

Affordable, great atmosphere, good food! I had the meatloaf and would not recommend the meatloaf. Someone else in our party had the meatloaf and thought the 'sauce' was like a bbq sauce. I drowned mine in ketchup. Now my husband had the grouper sandwich at like $14.50...he said this is the 2nd best grouper sandwich he has ever had and he has them everywhere we go. His favorite grouper 'wich was in Key West, but for this one to rank so high, really says a lot. Another in our party had the shrimp and lobster penne pasta. He said it was his 2nd time (in one months time) ordering it bc he enjoyed it so much, so I think that's saying something too. Their kids meal fried shrimp poppers apparently are quite tasty as well. Maybe add one of these to your to-go order or borrow a kid.

Went yesterday at 5pm with 3 other people. We had a reservation which we didn't need but when we left at 6:15, the place was packed. The bar area seemed to be a pick up place for 74 year olds at five but the scene was younger at six. My husband had the fish and chips which were grouper and rates them the best he had in years. I had the Marguerite Flatbeard. It was overcooked and lacked flavor. The waitstaff was excellent - attentive but not bothersome.

Had to make a reservation but when should up they rushed us to grab our own table? As we were sitting the waiter puts a dirty beer glass right infringe of me , almost hit me in fact.

Great atmosphere and outside bar. Wasn't impressed with the rockin' shrimp app, so I was a little concerned about how our entree would turn out. I had the blackened grouper on grits and it was GREAT! Huge piece of fish and I got the lunch portion. Matt got the Rooster burger and it was cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back!!

This place is pretty new to the Oldsmar area. I visited this weekend and we decided to go for dinner. It was kind of a last minute , so we did have to wait a for about 45 minutes, but they do take reservations. They have a great selection of beer on tap and they the atomosphere was nice- it was dark, but with good "mood" lighting, and some of the booths have TV's in them. There are a lot of big screens around the bar area, and they had the popular games. The service was decent, nothing special but nothing to complain about. All of the food would be considered "bar food" but they has a fun twist on a few of the items (ie. the french onion soup ball appetizer). I'm knocking off a couple of stars because during our 45 min wait, there was no place to sit. It was raining, so we couldn't stand outside and there was absolutely no waiting area inside, so we had to stand in front of the entrance, and move every time someone came in the door. To make it worse, they put a table close to the door, so when it started to get crowded, the group of us that were waiting we in the couples space as they were trying to eat. My recommendation would be to take out a few of the tables by the door and add a waiting area. Overall, the experience was OK. I really think it would be great if they worked on the waiting area situation.

Visited tonight, and enjoyed my dinner MUCH more this time around. Service was great, as was my first visit. Tonight, I ordered the mile high meatloaf, and it was not only generous, but delish! Their happy hour featuring $3.50 wells and house wines, is quite stellar, too.

On my first visit I had the rib eye steak sandwich and peel-and-eat shrimp which require little or no cooking skill and I had a great first impression. But the second time I had fish which was overcooked (possibly in a microwave) and extremely salty-- inedible. My wife had stir-fry of some kind of meat and vegetables which also seemed like it may have been cooked in a microwave and was extremely salty and inedible. The restaurant concept and location are great, but it appears that they have it geared to run with on autopilot with dishes that only require thawing and microwaving. It's designed to run cheaply with minimum-wage high school dropouts in the kitchen doing the "cooking". Too bad because the atmosphere is great. There's fresh oysters, a huge variety of beer, and. TV's in every booth.

Had dinner there with friends over the weekend. Wife and I got the French onion soup dumplings for an appetizer. They were pretty good, kind of like eating the top of a crock of French onion soup; something a little different. Their burgers sounded pretty good so I opted for "the rock", which is ground chuck, caramelized onions, Maytag blue and gruyere cheese. See why I got it?? Very good burger, cooked to order. Juicy, lots of flavor. Took a couple extra Lipitor, no problem. Wife got the shrimp and grits. There were a couple of large shrimp topping the dish, and smaller sweet shrimp cooked in a creole sauce, served over the grits. She said it was very good. Place was pretty crowded and noisy, but they take reservations. Lots of T.V.'s on the walls make you feel right at home. The menu is interesting and has a number of unique items we'll be back to try!

Salt Rock Tavern is one of the new places in town. We went on a Friday night. Of course, that was everyone's idea too. Parking was a challenge to say the least. The place was full; however, we did find seating outside. They have a very nice drink menu that includes beer cocktails and a full liquor bar. The blackberry bourbon lemonade is very tasty. My group ordered the lobster and shrimp pasta, shrimp and grits, the big burger with a fried egg (sorry forgot the name) and the half rotisserie chicken. Everyone enjoyed their meals. A few notes to keep in mind: the lobster and shrimp pasta says light sherry cream sauce but it was still very rich; the shrimp and grits had a nice flavor, rich but not too spicy. Bottomline is we will return for seconds. I got my eye on a beer cocktail.

This place is run by a Group that runs several restaurants in The Bay Area including the across the parking lot Rumba..when you walk in it's clear the Owners are well capitalized because they spent a ton on Leasehold Improvements...great looking bar with Flat Screens everywhere and then the restaurant itself has TV'S everywhere also..this place is clearly trying to be an upscale Sports Bar because they don't have your typical Bar Food Menu and they have high end booze and a ton of good craft beer taps...having said all that I would categorize our visit as about one or two exits from a complete debacle..we must have gone the day after The Staff all attended a Raging Kegger or all went to a Midnight Laser Light Show playing Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of The Moon and lit up cause they were all moving in slow motion and reminded me of The Zombies in 28 Days..first thing was the restaurant was practically empty and the Hostess sits us in the worst booth in the place next to The Waitress Station..Garbage..and view straight into The Kitchen..B-I-L quickly nixes that and gets us moved to one of the other 98 empty tables in the place...then we ordered and waited and waited..finally got drinks...then waited and waited..I was thinking to myself this is taking way too long since no one is here; but I did not want to complain since I was the out of town guest; but finally my Sister piped up and complained to the Waitress and she appeared surprised we had no food...magically she goes back to the Kitchen and comes back with food...she apologized and said a Manager would be over to speak to us...no Manager ever showed up...as for the food..my Meat Loaf was lukewarm because it clearly had been sitting out on the counter for a while..it was not that good anyway because it seemed like it had a ton of bread crumbs in it...Mom liked her Burger..Sister liked her Filet Stir Fry Dish and B-I-L thought The Shrimp and Grits spiciness overpowered the dish and he orders that dish pretty much everywhere he goes..after that it took forever to get a bill...then forever to get the credit card back.. Waitress was prolly hungover in the back with the rest of the Staff was our guess..I think the place has a great beer selection and a good menu so I am giving it a second star but keep in mind if you go that operationally even though it has potential this place has a ways to go..I'll go back...in 2014 when the opening year kinks are hopefully worked out Note..Management from Salt Rock Tavern contacted me regarding my recent experience...they apologized profusely and invited me and my family back...have not been yet; but that tells me they are genuinely concerned about running a good place so I felt like I should let other reviewers know...I will update my review after I visit again

Food and drinks are very good. My only complaint is the small portions. With the exception of the flat breads, which are quite large. I think they did a really very nice job on the interior and, in my opinion, the drinks are 100% better than their neighbor, Rumba.

First visit to this place but have been to the Indian Rocks location many times over the years. Was greeted and seated quickly. Great drink specials for happy hour. Ordered several small items to try. Wings were naked, crisp, excellent, and served with celery and a sweet habanero glaze. Rock shrimp had that bang-bang feeling but could have been a little spicier. Coconut shrimp were extra-jumbo and very, very good. Fries were ordinary, cold and soggy. Fish (Grouper) sandwich was served on sourdough toast and while tasty was an extremely small and thin piece of fish which only covered 50% of the bread. For dessert we tried the apple crisp with ice cream and was absolutely sinful. Overall a good experience and will return.

We have been to Salt Rock Tavern at least a dozen times since it has opened, on average once a week. We have never been disappointed and the staff is outstanding from the people at the front door, to the servers, to the managers who stop by to make sure all is well. We are fans of Salt Rock Grill but it's too far away for most nights and we are so happy to have this alternative. Can't recommend the apple crisp enough for dessert - the perfect end to a good meal at Salt Rock Tavern.

So far I've been there three times and it has been very soso. There service at both the bar and table side have been very slow and un attentive. The food is nothing to write home about as well, apparently all they've done is taken several recipes from there other restaurants and put together a menu. Hopefully they will make changes and consider my critique

Excellent food. Great selections for both food and liquor, and some fantastic novel dishes (try French Onion Soup Dumplings). This place combines the eclectic nature and commitment of a small start up by a really good up and coming chef with all the glitz of a high-end chain.

Did not like it at all! Pork chops looked like they were purchased at the local grocery store (on sale!). Service was nice but the food was not worth it. Did not taste bad - just thought it was a meal I got at a friends house back when I was in grade school. Sorry - really wanted to like this place.

4 of us dined here tonight. Started at the bar with Rachel, great bartender very attentive and nice and good food advice. Moved to a table with Mark, excellent server. He spent a lot of time discussing the menu with us, really enjoyed our service. The food was excellent. We started with the ahi app and truffle fries, yum! Then key lime butter grilled oysters were to die for, you have to order these. We each ordered a different entree, shrimp and grits would not be my first choice but the grits were made with smoked Gouda and I could have eaten a whole bowl of them. I had the rooster burger with the neuske bacon, mark said this bacon was the best and he wasn't lying. The burger had great flavor and that bacon topped it off. Another meal was a New York strip with a lobster tail, again tender and juicy. Last but not least was the red grouper, bursting with flavor. We all left saying we will be back. We had it all, great service, great food, nice atmosphere. Happy night!

Although not too far from home, I had never tried this place. It is quite nice and we will be back. Salt Rock has a nice atmosphere -- upscale, but fun and comfortable. There is an extensive selection of beer, wine and craft cocktails at reasonable prices. The menu is interesting, and all of the selections we saw in our group were creative, high quality, and presented very nicely. We had a great evening with friends. If you sit in a booth, there is a TV in each booth, which is nice for Saturday nights when you might want to keep an eye on a college game. ;)

Goodness everything looks soo good...... on paper. The descriptions of the items were droolworthy...when they were presented 'meh'. Definitely disappointed. We did tapas style and ordered a whole bunch of apps. Prices were bad but food was just OK. I think the kitchen staff was paying around with each other because our burger took about an hour to come out to the table and when it did the whole bun was bloodsogged (i got medium rare burger) and the truffle fries were more dried out than crispy. The waiter, I don't think he ever told us his name, was very nice. Drinks are awesome here. I'd go back to grab a drink at the bar and eat the candied bacon...after I ate somewhere else...

Not a great night. Good food, not amazing. I will try this again. Mainly we had a bad night because of perhaps the worst service I've ever had. 1- Waitress never told us which oysters were on the menu that night despite being asked twice. Salt Rock, you might have sold some more oysters last night if you waitress knew that all oysters are not alike and if she cared about her customers. 2- we had to ask twice for her to bring us another round of drinks. A third round was out of the question since she disappeared. 3- We didn't get our salads...again...had to ask twice for these to be brought out well after our dinners were out. 4-food runner lady- UGH. She looked like she might be a manager helping out, but when my dining mate asked her for something she replied with...I'm not your server. WOW. The best restaurants I worked in...EVERYONE was responsible for making guests wishes happen. Bad form...get rid of those who think they aren't there to serve customers. 5- Grits- apparently, grits come under the portabella mushroom app...even though the menu doesn't mention it. I would be ticked off if I had a plate full of grits that I didn't order. Even more so by the fact that they were this gray, hard, mealy mass on the plate. I don't like grits...but I do know they should be white, fluffy, and tasty...not the way they came. In fairness, the waitress offered something else, but only when pressed. She really could not have cared less. In closing...I will try them again. But if the service isn't better, this place will never make it. Unless I'm missing something and the Oldsmar professional crowd that frequents this place has decided that shi++y servers are in.

I need to start off by saying.......I struggle to give poor ratings but have to be honest. I believe this place deserves a 2.5 ratings. Why....well, let me start. When we arrived we stood there for a few minutes...not being greeted by anyone. We finally decided to just sit at the bar. The bartender was very nice. We decided on two apps, a salad and a burger. When the apps came out they just didn't look appealing. The rockin shrimp were anything but rockin. Actually, the shrimp were rubber and the batter was burnt. The staff was kind to amend the order and re-fry up a new batch. Unfortunately, the shrimp were just a rubbery. I didn't have the heart to tell the staff. Moving on to the 2nd app--- the only good thing I can say......the small piece of pork belly was tasty. As for the rest, not so good. The fried tomato lacked flavor and the pimento cheese spread was overpowering. Moving onto my salad--- I ordered it with dressing on side. It came out fully dressed. The staff was very nice to make me a new one. And last, the burger......we ordered it medium rare and it came out well done. The piece of steak on top was chewy....and my friend had to ask for the cheese he requested and mayo. They literally brought out two slices of cheddar on a plate.... Needless to say, our experience was subpar! The staff was friendly to fix the issues and they took the shrimp off the bi. But in the end.....we won't be returning.

First, let me start off with first impressions. The hostess greeted us and then proceeded to take us to the back of the restaurant, passing about 6 empty booths and tables. Now I understand why, so that all of the servers can get their share in the serving, this I learned later but as a patron of your establishment, this doesn't mean anything to me. If I see empty tables sit me there. The place is a cute little place and the ambiance is very grown and sexy. I think this will be a nice place to come for an adult evening out. There is an outside area with a bar that is nice. We sat inside and the booths are roomy and each booth against the walls have televisions in them which adds a nice touch. Now to the food. We had the buffet brunch, and it was average. The selections were few but fitting for the audience, which was middle aged to older. There were eggs, an omelet and a waffle station, bacon, sausage, salmon, potatoes, and biscuits and gravy. They also had a warm lunch food station that had grouper in a red spicy sauce which was ok and beef tips with onions and red peppers. The beef was tough and lacked flavor. Then there was the raw bar which had oysters and peel and eat shrimp. I don't eat oysters but the shrimp wasn't cleaned and the cocktail sauce was spicy which made my nose flare up. You get 2 drinks with the buffet which could be a mimosa, a screwdriver or a Bloody Mary. I had the mimosa and they were delicious. My husband went to get waffles and the guy only made him one which was very small, and my husband is no little guy. He said the omelet was really good and they are made fresh which makes a huge difference. There is also a dessert bar, which has pudding shots, cookies, fresh made waffle bowls with all of the toppings and ice cream. The staff is ok but nothing to 'Yelp' about they are very average. No one went out of their way to make any of the guest feel welcomed, from what I saw. Overall, I would not recommend this place for their brunch but I would like to come back on another day to try their menu foods and check out the adult ambiance vibe. I give it 3 stars because in my opinion, the Hard Rock has a much better brunch buffet at a better cost, if you don't mind the drive.

me and the misses were real excited to try this place as we heard that they served chargrilled oysters. after coming back from new orleans, we have been on a hunt for these little suckers and thought we had a spot. unfortunately their version didn't come as close as we wanted. none the less they did have a lot of other cool looking things on the menu. we decided to go tapas style and elected to order a whole bunch of the interesting appetizers vs the main dishes so we were able to get a good sample of many of the more interesting dishes. menu wise theres lots to try, and appeals to all types of hungry diners.with many cool and interesting things to try however the food just fell short. tastes were pretty bland and didnt live up to the expectations set forth by their menu descriptions. the interior was nice and modern looking inside but just fell short of our taste buds that night. the interesting drinks they served up however were pretty good !

I came here with a friend for a late night dinner on a Monday night. She wanted to try it out as a friend of hers is a server here, so we knew we would get good service. We started off with the deviled eggs of the day. Apparently it's one of their signature items and they have different styles of deviled eggs on the menu each day. On the day of our visit it was topped with candied bacon and jalapeño. Since both the server and manager were raving about them, I figured they were worth a try. They were just alright, but seemed like they had been in an overly cold refrigerator all day, as they literally had ice chips on top. They didn't quite live up to my expectations. From there we just decided to get a few more small bite items, but none of it was really worth writing home about. The experience ended up being average overall. I might try it again, but won't be rushing back soon.

I'm so glad I finally got to eat here. Wow! I've been missing out. Being a craft beer drinker I never knew how close all these varieties were to my house till now. Their HH which is from 3-7 is a deal. $5 pub glasses? YES please! Wish I would've tried the HH apps. Definitely next time. I was with two other girlfriends and we ordered dinner. I had the Crabcake sandwich. Delicious! My other friends ordered meatloaf and a burger. Both DEVOURED their food before I could finish mind and I was scarfing mine down. Loved every bit of this dining experience!

Casey makes this place one of my favorite restaurants. Despite me having an allergic reaction to the truffle fries (seriously?) the first time I dined here, Casey was super awesome, off the wall, and friendly. This second visit was no different, Casey was witty, and had us chuckling along to her antics throughout the night. This place rocks.

Meh. I went with a friend for Sunday brunch and was totally underwhelmed with the quality and selection for the price. The omelet again had very limited ingredients to pick from and there were more sugary pastries and desserts than normal breakfast food. I much prefer the brunch at grille 54 to this. I will go back at some point to give them a try for something other than brunch to give them a fair shot at wowing me.

My review depends on when you are going. I've been there numerous times for happy hour and their awesome $5 martini's and appetizers are great. The problem was when I suggested to take out of town guests there for dinner. I was hoping there was a more substantial menu but no. Still burgers, flatbreads, salads and a rib eye steak and grits and shrimp. Was hoping for a great seafood or filet mignon entrée. After raving to friends, we all had burgers, which was not what I was hoping for. I will return for happy hour but it's just not my kind of place for dinner.

This place is good, but pales in comparison to its sister restaurant, Rumba. The food was okay and eating in the extreme darkness was a little off-putting. While it's neat to have your own personal TV in your booth, we found it to be distracting. After all, we could eat and watch TV at home!

Salt Rock Tavern is a fun spot in Oldsmar for craft beers, handmade cocktails, and a nice mix of menu options from bar appetizers all the way up through full-on dinner entrées. Salt Rock Grill can be found along Tampa Road (Hillsborough Avenue extended) in the same shopping center (and directly across the driveway) from their sister restaurant, Rumba Island Grill. While Rumba promotes themselves as a playful Caribbean tiki bar, Salt Rock is a more elegant setting for steaks, chops, chicken, and seafood. Other members of this restaurant family include the Island Way Grill, and Salt Rock Grill, both closer to the beach. Salt Rock Grill doesn't open until 4pm for the dinner crowd, and they offer a very generous Happy Hour lasting until 7pm with some fantastic pricing on food and drinks. Many of the appetizers are priced at $5 during Happy Hour, which gives you lots of small plate options while you enjoy a drink, visit with your friends, or ponder your dining choices for later in the evening. The menu contains a nice mix of grilled meats and seafood, along with some classic comfort food. You'll see rotisserie chicken, ribeye steaks, and roasted pork loin, together with meatloaf, shrimp and grits, and chicken Cordon Bleu. They offer salmon, fresh-caught Grouper (in season, of course), and some stir fry options. You can also choose, soups, salads, burgers, sammies, and flatbreads. If you're a regular diner at Salt Rock Grill then you might want to scope out their Tavern Favorites deal which gives you two full meals for $25. That includes a house salad, choice of entrées, and ends with your choice of a mini-dessert. I was there on a drizzly weekday night, and ducked inside in between the torrential downpours. To my delight I was there during Happy Hour and took advantage by ordering a dozen char-grilled oysters and an ice-cold beer - all for special pricing. SCORE! After slurping my way through the oysters I also ordered their shrimp and grits which turned out to be big, plump Gulf shrimp simmered in a spicy creole sauce, and served over creamy, smoked gouda Anson Mills grits. Very tasty, and definitely worth a try. If your travels take you through Oldsmar on Tampa Road, then I think you'd enjoy Salt Rock Grill as a nice place to stop for Happy Hour or dinner. It's classy, yet casual, and the food is delicious!

My fiancé and I went to Salt Rick on a recommendation by family. We had a long over due date night and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is very nicely done, cozy for a date night but still family or friends out night kinda place to, .the food was delicious. The service was great and the prices are reasonable. We will be going back again when we find the time.

While looking for a brunch to attend, I came across this one. It is by the same company that owns Island Way in Clearwater, so I didn't think it could be too bad. It runs from 10-2 on Sundays and is $19.90, which is an easy price to swallow. When we arrived, what used to be a Melting Pot is now a very open seating place, comfortable with plenty of tables. The food was laid out on different tables, and while the selections were decent, they were kind of picked over by the time we got there at 1pm. There were an assortment of breakfast foods: Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, blintzes and even hand made omelettes. There were stir fried items, beef and chicken and there were oysters and shrimp on ice. The buffet also includes 2 drinks in the price, either a Mimosa, screwdriver or a do it yourself bloodymary. It's a pretty good deal.

I really do not understand how people can rate this place more than one star. I guess the only nice this about this restaurant are the TV's that they have in each booth so that you can watch a game. I am strictly rating this place one star for the food they serve. My boyfriend and I ordered their hush puppies, chicken wings, rock'n shrimp, cheese burger, fish sandwich, and truffled fries. Let me start with the hush puppies. I feel as if they were over fried to the point where they tasted extremely salty. I love my food on the salty side; however these hush puppies were over salty! The chicken wings had a weird taste to them. Although I do not know how band aids taste, I guess you can say that they tasted the way band aids smell. The shrimp batter was also over salty. I'm not sure if my boyfriend and I came on a day where their flour batter had more salt than usual. My boyfriend asked for his burger to be medium rare, and of course they cook his patty medium well. I'm sorry but it does not take a brain surgeon to cook a medium rare burger! Now with my sandwich, the famous salt rock tavern grouper sandwich. They claim to catch their own grouper but I have had grouper sandwiches that have tasted way better at a fast food joints! I feel as if the fish had a tiny metal sort of taste to it. I literally only took about three bites of my sandwich then I had to put it to the side, which I hate doing. Last but not least, the Parmesan truffled fries. All I can say is they tasted more on the salty side probably because of their overuse of Parmesan cheese. I also thought they were a tad bit soggy. I feel as if French fries should be nice and crispy. I am not sure if we came on a bad day, which was on Memorial Day; however our appetizers took about 45 minutes to arrive and our entrees took about an additional 25 minutes. It seems as if our waitress was the only one serving and there may have only been one chef in the kitchen. Remind you, I do not like reviewing based upon the service because each time can be a hit or miss practically anywhere you go. I guess that pretty much sums up our experience with this place. I do not give restaurants a second chance if I do not enjoy it the first time. Would I return? Definitely not. Would I recommend this place for others? Not a chance. Me recommending this place to others would make look bad.

Really excited to finally get my manthing to try an extension of the Salt Rock Grill. He had no idea what to expect and while the beach location can be hit or miss at times, Nathan knocked it out of the park and totally reinforced my expectations about this place. While Mark H. really says it all in his account, I can only hope that each trip is as all-around satifying as this first one. They really set a bar with us that's going to be hard if not impossible to uphold. Just keep it up with all the small stuff that matters because the food has certainly arrived.

Yes and focking YES! This joint has been here next to Rumba for almost years now, and I've been a little standoffish for two reasons. One, the initial reviews from some of my Yelper buddies were less-than-favorable. And two, I had no idea it was associated with the Salt Rock Grill in IRB. I guess I thought it was some sort of cheap rip-off. I was wrong! On the menu, they list a "just caught" grouper dinner, as well as a sandwich. These folks have their own fleet of boats that go out and snatch up fresh grouper, so their fish were literally swimming around minding their own biz just the day before. It's never frozen and brought to the store packed in ice. I'm so down with grouper that I couldn't even contemplate ordering anything else. I went with the blackened grouper sandwich, which is served on a La Segunda Bakery "coca roll," which is similar to pan sabao, a Puerto Rican sweet bread. It's topped with a tomato, baby Swiss and some house-made tartar sauce on the side. Normally, folks get fries, but I decided to try out their bacon-laced Brussels sprouts. Listen when I tell you that this meal was fantastic. I gormandized in ecstasy. I'm just not sure if I could have been served a better grouper sammich, and hey them sprouts weren't bad either! To drink, I ordered up an old fashioned. The bartender mixed it up perfectly. Nathan was our server, and he was on the ball. He carefully guided La Chica and I thru the menu, making sure to lead us to what makes this restaurant special. While eating, a gentleman who I assumed was the manager stopped at our table to ask how everything was, and I really like that. It shows that they pay attention to detail, and give a care about the customer experience. Salt Rock Tavern is such a better option than the Melting Pot, which used to occupy this space, and they earned a loyal repeat customer on my first visit.

Another great experience! Hit this place on way home from a soccer tourney at 4:30pn so it was not busy. Kids got burgers that were fabulous. Yes, I tasted the burger and fries. Flat bread was amazing. Filet kabob was small but tasty. Craft brew was icing on the cake. Not too expensive for quality food in cool hip atmosphere. It does get crazy busy at peak hours. Beware!

The beer choice is excellent many great craft beers on tap not your typical bud, coors crap! The service is polite and fast! I had the kale salad as my app, it was smaller than expected and did taste very good! My main was the soft shell crab sandwich which was awesome except for the white bun! You would figure they would use a quality bun instead of crap cheap white bun the fries are good not to salty! My wife had the arugula & beet salad with chicken also smaller than expected but delicious! This place has amazing potential just get a better bun and maybe 10-15% larger salad size.

I've only been twice but this is my new favorite restaurant! The food is fantastic, and the service is stellar. We thought the first time we'd just had a really wonderful waiter but the second time the service was just as good. Both times the chef came out to our table, you really get the impression that the whole staff really cares about what your experience is like. Also, both times we've gone it's been mid afternoon during the weekend and we haven't had to wait to get a table. The french onion soup dumplings are out of this world, and the hush puppies are fantastic. The best part is they don't give you ridiculously huge portions, the appetizers are great to split between two or three people and the entrees aren't so huge that you don't have room for dessert, which is great because you NEED to get some of that apple pie crumble. If you want to try something different, check out the Ybor Burger. The guava jelly is surprisingly delicious on it. They have a huge craft beer list but I'm not a beer person, I did have some cocktails and they were perfect. Tell your server what you like and have them recommend something... they won't steer you wrong. I've personally tried the Kentucky Peach and the Strawberry Shine and they were both fantastic. The atmosphere is nice, very quiet, dimly lit, laid back. Could be good for a date or just hanging out with friends. I found the prices to be extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and service, about the same as going to a chain restaurant except the experience is 1000 times better. Good happy hour deals too.

We only came for drinks so I can't comment on the food but the service was very good, and the atmosphere seemed very inviting. Drink prices were fair and they kept them coming. Clean bathrooms. Would love to try the food sometime but it is definitely kind of off the beaten path.

Went there for Sunday brunch arriving at noon. The greeter was condescending and downright rude and judge mental. So was the bar tender. Apparent they disagree with me bringing my young asian wife. The Food was very low Quality. The Eggs must have been cooked in a batch at 5 am and were actually turning green when I looked. The eggs Benedict was not much better and had an unappetizing appearance looking like the poached egg was boiled in a lot of water rather than steamed to perfection. The smoked salmon was well picked over and just appeared nasty. The Roast beef was very tough. As we left a Rottweiler attacked my wife and had to be restrained by the female owner who was chain smoking at the outside bar.

Burgers are sub par to average at best.. Looks like Florida is just use to this level of average. Nothing special about the place. Manager was nice, but it's about the food isn't it? Food is average that's it. Better off making your own on a grill. Oh, but they do have a seating area ON THE PARKING LOT! Ugh

Popped in for a happy hour drink to wait our five o'clock traffic. Brittany, the bartender, was attentive and more than happy to tell me about the specials. I had a great red wine and, after hearing Brittany's recommendations, an appetizer. I left full and happy!
