This is a family-style, diner-type restaurant. Big space, lots of seating. Coffee was excellent. Good basic breakfast. Fast, friendly service.

Great place for breakfast. Would definitely come again. I'm not a big eater and a lot of food is wasted on me at most breakfast restaurants. Here I got a breakfast sandwich with one egg, one slice of bacon, one slice of cheese on an English muffin. My husband got a Mexican omelet with a side of grits. Wait staff was helpful and friendly.

Awesome breakfast. A lot of room inside of this place the breakfast as on point and the coffee was really good. The eggs were over easy and the best I've ever had. I don't know how they cooled them, but they were unbelievable. Highly recommend!

Wow, this place was Crowded on the Sunday AM we visited. Bu they seated us quickly and we got served waaayy quicker than I expected. Food was pretty darn good too. I found it strange than so many other reviewers mentioned the restroom renovation here, but now I get it. The restrooms ARE nice. I only wish the test of the place looked half as good. It's a bit... Run down. Too put it nicely. But hey, the food was good, and that's what matters most. I do have to say that wen though service was pretty quick, I just wish the waitresses had been a bit nicer. They were all business an I didn't see a smile among them. Oh well. I'll probably revisit it just because of the food.

Friendly and prompt service a little limited on the menu for a breakfast and lunch place. Good was good but not spectacular. I would visit it again but not a regular basis.

I am being very generous giving two stars this is a "greasy spoon" we both had the sausage patties, scrambled eggs and I had grits she had greasy potatoes. OMG the plate was saturated in grease the cook apparently doesn't care how he or she plates the food and the owner apparently never tasted or looks at what is being served. The service was okay and the coffee was okay so this why they get a high rating of two stars. The place is worn out and dirty there are way too many places to eat breakfast to have to put yourself through this. Under no circumstances will I eat here again I hope they read this and instead of getting mad they take a look around I doubt this will happen.

Wow! Found this place on Yelp! A nice little diner with a family atmosphere. Friendly staff, very punctual as soon as we sat down. We had both looked at the special board and right away the Spinach and Swiss omelet caught my eyes. My first omelet ever! They didn't skimp on the cheese or spinach. Cut into it and the cheese oozed out. Mmm!! They hash browns were nice and crunchy! Some places don't brown both sides and are often mushy. These were perfectly golden, nice crunch to them. Coffee was good too, just a bit of cream and no sweetener needed. Definitely will come back when we roll through to the beach! CASH ONLY !

We visit New Smyrna Beach several times a year and always try to go to Ruthy's when we visit.. (we are from Virginia) Today we stopped in at about 10:00AM for breakfast. There were two younger waitresses on the floor; one blonde, the other a dark haired girl with glasses. We were seated quickly and the blonde girl came over to take our order. The food came out quickly... delivered by the dark haired girl... but the order was wrong. I had asked for hash browns, but got home fries that were way under cooked. There were more raw pieces of potato on my and my husband's plate than there were cooked pieces. Our waitress (the dark haired girl) was sitting at a table right beside us texting. She was even getting up showing the other waitress her text messages. The blonde waitress was talking to someone at another booth about "going out tonight" and where she was going. We were being completely being ignored. I tried to get either one of the waitresses attention to get a refill on my tea and inform them about our home fries, but was unsuccessful because they both were too busy texting, reading text messages and planning their evening out to pay attention to us. When we got ready to leave we had to ask for our ticket because no one was paying attention to us. The blonde waitress overheard me talking to my husband about not leaving a tip due to the poor service and ignoring my empty iced tea glass... she called the dark haired girl over and said "well I can't help it if she sucked her tea down and I didn't see it". The comment wasn't made directly to me but was said loud enough for me to hear it. Both my husband and I were VERY disappointed in the service and the food today. I'm sorry to say today was our last visit to Ruthy's.

Went here today 3/09/15 for breakfast was seated quickly by a robot like waitress never spoke except to take order. I asked if toast came with the special she told me no I would have to upgrade to the $8.00 dollar special. I agreed and when asked how I would like my eggs told her over med and received them running off the plate my wife's eggs where the same. The so called home fries where not even cooked the coffee tasted like dishwater, I got up from the chair left the food went to pay the bill when cashier asked me how was everything I told her it was the worst breakfast I have ever had and she attacked me saying never ever had a complaint before that's a lie and went on to say WELL DONT MATTER YOU ARE PAYONG FOR THE SHIT ANYWAY WE DONT GIVE AWAY FREE FOOD HERE. I was devastated I never asked her to give me the food for free or even a discount. I'm an older man and have never in all my years of dining out been treated that way, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE

Dear Mary L. I can only apologize for what happened, and Can offer you a free breakfast on us. I'm the 30 year old dark hair girl with the glasses and also one of the owners. Unfortunately I wasn't aware of your food not being up to par nor was I your waitress bc if I was I would have notice the mix up. She more and likely Misheard you when it came to the potatoes it's a common mistake. It still doesn't excuse them being under cooked.. As for my phone I'm constantly doing business on it. That's how I contact staff,do scheduling, food representatives, and so on. I been was working on are website that day I was taking photos of food.. Probably why I was showing my staff to get there opinion. I can only apologize how it looked. As far as the comment about the tea. It was not said to me bc I would never allow that talk on my floor or ever about are customers.. I will address the other two waitress's there that day and show them your comment and concern. I apologize again. There was another dark hair girl there that day as well and I will address there chatter on the floor. we always work with three. We do have a closer relationship with are regulars. I find it completely okay for the girls to talk about there lives as long as it doesn't compromises there ability to give good service. These comments help me be aware of things I sometimes don't notice myself. Thank you again I myself will pay more attention!! If you do decide to try us again all you have to say to get your meal on us is Amanda Fike sent me in. I do work Sunday-Wednesday.

Everything you would expect from a traditional, southern breakfast joint. Classic dishes like biscuits and gravy, grits, etc. Those inclined to talk down a place like this may not be familiar with southern diner style eating. It is what it is and it's good. Friendly service and decent coffee. These are the no frills gems that are harder to come by nowadays.

Although the staff was friendly and accommodating, the food was not up to par for this food warrior. I asked for cheddar but got american cheese on my omelet (ugh!). The server never came back and asked if everything was ok, so I just sucked it up and ate the fake cheese. I wouldn't go back........
