I dont get takeout BBQ unless I can see smoke. The smoker is right in the parking lot smoking away. The pulled pork is firm, not mushy, and has a nice smokey flavor. The food is a 5, we always get take out, the restaurant is a little dark and dank for eat in.

I have hesitated to go because of the reviews but finally went tonight. I totally disagree with the negative reviews!!! Now it might not be a 5 star restaurant but still super delish!! The beans are the BOMB!! Crazy affordable and I will definitely be getting takeout from here often! Oh and it is 100 times better than Dustins!

Love BBQ? In town for business, I asked the manager of the resort I was doing work at where the best place for barbecue would be for lunch she didn't know the exact name but gave me directions from the beach. It was actually quite easy to find. It sits on the corner of Dixie Freeway and Orange. The property is wedged in between the two streets. There are barbecue smokers on the Dixie Freeway side which are easy to spot. They also have a large sign outside. The building can hardly be passed by either, as it's an extremely gaudy green color. Because of this, I'll start off with the negatives to get them out of the way. The place desperately needs a makeover appearance wise. The buildings color is hideous and the inside seems more like a dive bar and less like an incredibly great place to get barbecue. The air is barely functional as well and as a result they have a large industrial fan in front of the window AC unit attempting to circulate the limited output. There are several TVs in this location. I counted four from my vantage point, which was a high topped deuce. All of the chairs are worn barstools that have duct tape on the seats but they are comfortable. Now let's talk about everything I liked. I excused myself to wash my hands and discovered that the restroom was immaculate, which was quite a nice surprise. My server was Anna she's a full of life twentysomething with an incredibly infectious smile and positive attitude. From where I sat I could clearly see the grill. The gentleman manning the station really impressed me. I watched him work and after every order was complete, he would clean the grill with such care it was almost like he was going to be shutting down for the night. Furthermore, as he prepared each sandwich, he really seemed to care almost like he was making each sandwich for himself. Truly impressive! For my lunch order, I had the beef sandwich which was served with beans and I chose potato salad as my side, as Anna informed me they make it in-house. I chose beef because I initially asked if they had pulled pork and was told that they mainly serve slices. In my head that instantly said this might be processed pork. Although I didn't order the pork I bet I was dead wrong. When my sandwich arrived I was slightly taken aback. Instead of a larger style hamburger bun that you typically see, this sandwich was served on large pieces of Texas toast that were perfectly prepared, not to toasty and not soggy. It's amazing how big this thing is! And it had the perfect amount of sauce on it. I didn't feel like I needed to add anything, not even pepper, which is pretty amazing in my book. As for the sides, my beans were completely unique. They had a cinnamon taste to them. It was interesting and foreign, yet incredibly good. The potato salad unfortunately was rather bland. I added salt and pepper which did help but it could use a touch of paprika and some small chunks of celery to really bring it forth as a competitor to the beans. Also included is a wedge of pickle. Now I know what you're thinking why the hell do I mention the pickle? I mean it's just a pickle right? I took a bite of this pickle and I was really surprised. Typically I had a little bit of pepper to my pickle when I eat it but this already seemed to have pepper on it, crazy! After finishing about 90% of everything I was stuffed. But Anna came around with that infectious smile I told you about", and convinced me" to try the desert. They serve up what I consider to be a unique dish. It's called fried bread pudding. For $2.50 you are brought out a rather large dessert item that looks basically like a pastry version of a burrito that is stuffed with bread pudding and has powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Holy moly is this good! In fact it's so freaking good that I literally could not stop eating it. Even a stuffed as I was I pounded that thing! Okay small side note here. I gathered that this place was just your typical dive bar so as such it does have a bar with draft beer, three domestic choices, and they serve a few bottles along with some wine. They also serve Coca-Cola products. There are booths, hightops and of course the bar to sit at. There are also some picnic tables outside when it's a little cooler or windier it might be nice. Okay so here's the real deal if you like barbecue, or love barbecue like I do, then you simply must try this place. Even if you're not staying by New Smyrna Beach and just driving from say Daytona to Cocoa it's worthy of a stop. I know I'll be back.

Horrible! Worst ribs ever, anywhere - tasted like lighter fluid. Sandwich was so bad, couldn't even eat it. And filthy, dirty tables. Beer was good.
