BEST THAI SECRET This place is truly a hidden gem. It is not on the beach or near where the tourists hang out. In fact, it is in a strip mall that no longer has its anchor store anymore. There use to be a Sweet Bay Grocery store next door but it is now gone. So I feel sorry for this cute little Thai restaurant which has no foot or car traffic but I don't feel too sorry because if you are in the know about this place this is your secret spot. I must also warn you that GPS will take you to the wrong location and it doesn't matter if you're using Google Maps or a Magellan because both won't get you there. My only advice is if you see the Starbucks on the corner then you will find this place somewhere behind there. This place has some great lunch specials but what I want to talk about is the First Seating for dinner. There is a special menu but you must ask for it. It is a dinner for two people and will cost you $39.95 and you will be full with everything you get to eat. We had to ask our waitress for it and she seemed to act like she didn't know about it. The hours on this special first seating is from 3 to 6pm, so don't be late. The special menu has a variety of items you can choose and it goes like this: 2 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees & 1 dessert. So we decided to start out our night with two glasses of Pinot Grigio which were very good. We then moved on to our appetizers. We started with the Goyza pork dumplings which can be ordered steamed or fried. We didn't know this until after we ordered them and we ended up with fried. I must say that they were really good. The pork on the inside was incredibly tasty. It also came with a soy dipping sauce. Our other appetizer was the vegetable spring rolls. Again these were deep fried with a sweet dipping sauce. They were perfectly cooked with a nice and crispy wrapper. I must admit its great to have homemade food and not some frozen item tossed in a deep fryer. We were so impressed with our starters we could hardly wait for our main courses. For our main courses we ordered: a spicy basil leaf sauce with pork snow peas, carrots, onion, bell pepper chili sauce and white rice. When the dish hit the table it looked like art. The spicy sauce was amazing and I soaked every ounce of it with the white rice. The pork was great quality and had a very clean and fresh taste to it. I would order this dish again in a heartbeat. Our second dish was the Chicken Pad Thai flat rice noodles sautéed with eggs, bean sprouts & ground peanuts. Again the plate looked like art. Our waitress giggled as I snapped photos of our food. I explained to her that I had to shoot it now because no one wants to see a dirty empty plate in a photo. I ordered the dish with medium spice and it was a perfect compliment to our spicy entree. Again the quality of the chicken was really good and the peanut sauce was fantastic. Even our little one tried it and loved it. She thought it was funny making a sauce out of peanuts and putting it on chicken and noodles. We now have a new fan of pad Thai in the family. Our little one also ordered a bowl of Chicken Soup with vegetables. She loves soup and she was really impressed with it. She really can't wait until I let her start posting her reviews. At this point we were really stuffed but we knew we had dessert to order. We decided to get the Fried Ice Cream. Again this was a first for our little one. She is a huge fan of fried ice cream now. The crispy batter was full of flavor and the ice cream was perfectly frozen on the inside. I am not a dessert person but I would definitely order this dish again. This place is fantastic and I can hardly wait to come back here. The food came out to our table piping hot. We know other people know about this place because the carry out orders did not stop flying out the door. Also by the time we had left most of the tables had filled up. I could only imagine how crowded this place would be if it was on the beach and not in an abandoned shopping mall. So next time your looking for some super Thai food then this is your place. Make sure you have some patience when trying to find it and when in doubt just give them a call. The staff knows GPS doesn't work and they will give you some directions to find this hidden Thai gem.

Meh. Food was overpriced for what we received. Service was non existent and poor because of inexperienced waitress's inability to speak English and suggest/describe items. No check back after apps or entree to see how we were. Tempura was mushy. Papaya salad was lacking. Udon soup was well executed but scarce of seafood ($15.95). Too bad. You read Yelp reviews and get psyched but unfortunately this didn't go our way. Should have gone with the Green Curry or to another place. But hey, it was slow, so maybe they were just having an off day.

This place has great food. We ordered the Avocado salad with crab and it was so great with yummy ginger dressing. We also got the green curry seafood and the curry was amazing. Last, we got the Hamachi Kama which was crispy on the outside and delicious. The waiters are very quiet but they are very attentive and we never had to ask for anything. I can't wait to go back and try more things! This was a great find in a strip mall ~

I walked in here with high exceptions since their yelp page is "glowing." My husband and I ordered two appetizers and they were delicious. Knowing how good our appetizers were, we were SUPER excited for our entree. When my dish came out, the first thing I noticed were the shrimps. They were partially cook!!!!! Half looked orange (cooked) and the other half was grey (undercooked). I was simply too hungry to ask them to remake my food, so I just removed it. Also I had 2 mussels on my dish. As soon as I took a bite, it had a foul taste!!!! Service was good but the food was horrible. MY CONCLUSION: A: Either their business is really slow so they can't afford to throw away OLD seafood and replace it with FRESH seafood. or B: They are cheap.

Coming from DC I did not have high expectations, and I was just looking for it to be enjoyable. My first issue was that they have watered down the spice level to the point where I was asking myself if they forgot to make it "hot". The pad Thai was fine, I just think they should have not used spiny lobster (gross) and also, they should have left both tails on the plate as proof that indeed there were 2 in the dish. Otherwise it seems like there isn't enough lobster. That dish also was totally not spicy. I asked them what was THE best dish they had and they recommended the special chicken and shrimp dish on the Chef's Special list. That dish literally was SO bland that my mom had to take some of my red curry sauce and pour it on her dish. I ordered the red curry shrimp. This was the best dish but next time I will need them to make it Thai Spicy just to ensure that its a tiny bit spicy. The green papaya salad was presented beautifully but the salad was warm and the amount of actual green papaya was little compared to all the other filler veggies. The sauce was good. I did like that brown rice was an option. The kids chicken teriyaki was presented nice. The entire bill was approx $85. I think I would give it one more chance during the first seating.

I had a hankering for rice, and my husband had a hankering for curry. If we had two more elements, I'd call Thai Udon Cafe "Captain Planet." It's the all-encompassing, global, take a ride through curry goodness NOW just to save the planet. This small restaurant is the place to do some serious damage to great Thai curry. We had Panang and Massaman curry, both separately with chicken. Both dishes were generous portions and came with some disproportionate rice. If you dare to eat the bowl of curry, I'd order two bowls of rice. Otherwise, just drown yourself in your big bowl of curry. We both ordered medium heat, but the heat got to me and cleared it all out. I typically have good tolerance to spice, but I was sniffling and it made the heat all the more addicting. If you are not familiar with the different types of curry, the Panang curry (in coconut milk) was served with basil, peppers, broccoli, and the Massaman too was coconut milk-based and served with potatoes, onion, other good stuff. (I'm still sniffling, by the way.) Side Note: If you are scared of spicy things, they do a mild version, and have spicy things are not only good for the soul, it's good for your digestion. :) This place isn't a hybrid of sushi and Thai food, but they have an extensive menu of Japanese Yakisoba and beautiful Udon soups. Also, they have all of the essential Thai noodles more than just Pad Thai. All in all, this place has great Thai food. The bad thing is that it's in a plaza that is no longer visible with the absence of Sweetbay for regular traffic, particularly at night. They probably do a great job at lunch, but when we went for a late dinner, we were the only ones in the restaurant. I'm hoping that people revisit the reviews and fall in love with this place again for some Thai food. If not, I'm having the restaurant to myself again. You snooze, you lose! LOL 13-2015

Sweet.....I mean the food tastes sweet. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the sweet taste of the food. My 1st couple bites I really enjoyed it, but as you keep eating you realize it may have a lot of sugar in it. This was our 1st time there so we ordered a bunch of dishes. The green curry chicken as well as the Massaman dish started out great but were too sweet. The Krab Rangoon was like non I had ever eaten before.....had more of a curry flavor than cream cheese......but it was really good. Lastly we had the soft shell crab appetizer and it was really good as well. I would go back, but I would ask them to hold the sugar

Not good. Not Thai. This is Vietnamese food. We had eaten here before back on December and it was great. Then changed chefs and now everything has gone to hell on the menu. The sauces were not good and the waiter fought with us over the food and still charged us when my sister sent her order back. Will not be back.

Great overall dining experience. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I was shocked at how quickly the food came out, and the prices appeared to be pretty reasonable. I had the Spicy Cashew Nut Saute (Hot) with Beef and Steamed White Rice. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, and the beef was tender and juicy. I had some difficulty finding the place (thanks to Google Maps), but I'm glad I didn't abandon my search.

Good was extremely fresh. Tasted great. Service was fantastic. I highly recommend the mango sticky rice. It was the best I had since Thailand. This place is only Thai. Not Japanese. Don't expect sushi.

This Thai food is authentic and tasty. The food was made fresh and didn't take a long time. The medium spice was just enough to make you feel like you went over the top with heat, bit allowed you to be able to finish your meal. The Pad See Ew was delicious, noodles and eggs were perfect. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Decent food. Traveling to the area and wanted something quick and to go. Ordered chicken pad Thai. I would have liked for it to have a little kick to it. Portion is small compared to the price.

Do we need yet another Thai eatery in #Naples? If it's as good as this one, yes. Don't let the strip mall fool you. Great place for dates, beautiful inside decor, fast and friendly service. Of course, can't forget the food. Amazing! Def spend a little more for the Chef specials. Less expensive Lunch menu is available all week. Lots of gluten free and veggie options. Must have mango sweet rice or sweet potato rice for dessert. Beer, wine too. No tv, so your marriage will be saved here! Opening up another next to Chick filet off Airport Rd. See you there!

I absolutely loved this little spot. I was craving thai food and so glad I looked on yelp first! The food was flavorful, fresh and delicious. I appreciated the fact that it wasn't a greasy soppy mess of food as Asian food can usually tend to be. Unfortunately I was enjoying my dinner so much I forgot to take a picture. The restaurant is clean, modern, and staff was friendly. It concerns me that it was so empty however, it would be a shame for this gem to close it's doors. I think the main issue is it's location, it's surrounded by businesses that close early and therefore it doesn't get a lot of nighttime traffic. I will definitely be back. I recommend the pad thai and pineapple curry...nom nom nom

Items ordered: Crispy Spring Rolls, Green Curry with chicken (spice level 2) and Pad Thai with shrimp/tofu (spice level 3) were both delicious! Super fresh veggies; tofu and shrimp were really flavorful. Our server was friendly and passionate about being from Thailand, nice conversation. Great place, we'll be back!

We found this place last year and try to go once a week. The food is so fresh and artfully prepared and presented. Nice ambience and considerate staff. THE GREEN CURRY IS THE BEST WE HAVE EVER EATEN! And we have eaten it in NYC, San Francisco, Boston and lots of places in between! Today they had a special green curry with soft-shelled crab/calamari/scallops and shrimp that my husband may never recover from, it was that perfect. The crab was fresh, light, crispy and beautiful. I stayed with my vegetable green curry and was, once again, over the moon. We try to branch out and have enjoyed their Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles), Pad Thai, Ginger Chicken and others, but we guiltily sneak back to our curry again and again, even though the other dishes were very good as well. Lunchtime is busy there but don't worry! They will take care of you!

I hate to be a hater but I have to tell the truth on this one. This place is average. Now granted, we did arrive fairly late around 900 PM (they close at 10 PM)--- The owner/ manager was not real enthusiastic about anything really. We went in there because of all the five star reviews. I was expecting premium food even if it were expensive, I was ready for some good food. I had one of the specials and my friend had the scallops. They were both just ok. Nothing special. I'm not saying the food was bad at all, it was just ok. If I give five stars, that means it's exceptional on almost all levels. This place is in a strip mall, not great ambiance, ok pricing, food ok. So if I were a teacher, this place gets a C+ or B- Defiantly not a five star restaurant though.

READ THIS FIRST: The food is average but that is good for Naples. They have a few izakaya dishes that differentiate it from other similar type places and there's an interesting break up to the menu. It is reasonably priced and the service is good. Although over all the food seems to be very well executed the flavor profiles are again only average. I do frequent the place because of comfort, cost and location. Try the age-dashi tofu.

Had dinner here, last night. Grilled pork dumplings were a yummy appetizer. For our entrees, we enjoyed the Pad See Ew - we asked them to kick up the spice a bit - and they did. We also had the Tofu Panang Curry - we asked for an extra order of rice, to go with the curry. The restaurant was a bit difficult to find, but worth the trip.

Pleasant, friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere. Tempura was very crispy, not greasy--yum.. Remainder of noodle dishes, Thai and Japanese noodle dishes plentiful but rather bland, uninspired.

Went for lunch today at Thai Udon and found it to be very nice. The menu selection gives you a lot of choices. They have a lunch menu. The food was excellent! Everything fresh. I will definitely be visiting this place often.

I had the lunch special today. 7.95 for the red curry. There were many different thai and japanese specials to choose from. It was wonderful. All lunch specials also come with a cup of homeade soup and egg roll. It's a very small place in the same strip mall sweetbay just closed down in. I accidently drove past it at first! Great place!

Mr. C. and I had dinner here last night. Interesting menu with both Thai and Japanese options available. I started with traditional miso soup and was delighted with the nice tofu and greens. Mr. C. had his favorite Tom Yum spicy Thai soup and was pleasantly surprised by the portion size and that he got three good sized shrimp. We shared a dish of chicken with broccoli, carrots, cabbage and mushrooms in a garlic sauce. Food, service and ambiance were delightful. We will definitely be back.

I just enjoyed the best curry I've EVER had ... Pineapple Curry, if you can believe it! The pineapple adds just the right amount of sweetness to the red curry sauce. Super fresh veggies and chicken in it. Friends came here last week and I'm SO glad I took their advice to try it out.

The food here is very good--no, it's excellent. My wife and I have been here for lunch twice, and we found it to be most tasty both times. The only drawback today was that it took the servers an unusually long time to take our drink orders. Once that was done, they were delivered quickly. Again, there was a longer than average wait before they took our food order. I ordered the chicken volcano lunch-medium hot. My wife ordered the chicken and eggplant lunch special with the house salad. My lunch included a cup of chicken rice soup and a spring roll. The soup was light, delicate and very tasty. The spring roll was the fried variety, not my favorite, but, with the light sweet and hot chili sauce, it was eminently satisfactory. My wife's salad was the usual for a far eastern oriental, restaurant, and the ingredients were very fresh. My lunch consisted of a grilled chicken breast with a light sweet chili sauce. It had been cut into bite sized pieces and was resting on a bed of steamed vegetables. The entire plate was very tasty. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her eggplant chicken, which had a medium bite to it. We passed on dessert, but we did order Thai coffees, which, to our surprise were served iced. I do not usually order iced coffees, but I am looking forward to having this again. All in all, a great experience.

I've been to this wonderful Thai restaurant at least 5 times and the quality of the food has continuously been above average. Every dish we've ordered has been exceptional. The location of the restaurant is a bit off the beaten path and is in a location that appears to be a vacant shopping center. Don't let that discourage you from giving it a try. You won't be disappointed. I would rate it as the best I've had in Naples.

We had a spontaneous lunch. Very happy to see lunch specials not limited to certain days and extended to 3 PM. The setting was ideal. Very quaint and comfortable is a good description. The music was appropriate and the ambience was wonderful. We chose the large hot sake and it was served with a simple napkin offered as a heat band. Nice touch. The entrée was preceded with a great tasting coconut soup with Thai spices with chicken and varied vegetables. The spring roll and duck sauce was crisp and tasty. I was impressed that the menu was beyond the lunch specials and included some chef specials. They were explained thoroughly by our attentive waiter. My wife chose the Pad See Ew and was very impressed. She stated that she has not had better in the entire Naples area. I had a chef special of shrimp and scallops in garlic sauce and brown rice. It was done to perfection and left me in satiety. I was so full, and was willing to try a dessert but it was never offered. I know we will be back many a time over for sure and highly recommend this place to everyone.

Great pad tai!! Had it 3 times so far! Always so so so good! Huge portion for the lunch deal and they give you soup and an app --- that's the bomb!! My girlfriend LOVES the massaman curry dish w pork or tofu, this place does it like all the others, cashews, avacado, BUT instead of potatoes, this place does sweet potatoes, interesting twist and the lady loves it! South Florida has screwed my view, thinking all restaurants should do sushi and thai, but that's a regional thng here in Naples, anywhere else Thai places stand on their Thai food alone and this place knocks it out of park! glad they finally opened!

Great food! Fresh authentic Thai. My wife and I shared the chicken pad Thai and pineapple curry. Both were as good if not better than any we have had before at other places. Service was great. Hopefully the word will get out about this place! We will be back to try other dishes for sure.

Amazing food, great people! Highly recommend! I ordered Volcano Beef, it was super yummy and meat is very tender! I came to Naples for work and was looking for a good Thai place. I went to Thai Basil first and that place is so bad, I actually walked out! Come to Thai Udon Cafe!

Winner! Small mall setting with very nice decor. Drove by on a ride home from downtown Naples and caught their sign small sign on Goodlette/Frank road. Went for dinner and it was excellent. Pad tai was best ever. Yaki soba was delicious and thai soup was very tasty. Be sure to get the triple set of condiments brought to your table; Spicy fish sauce was off the charts. A worthwhile destination for a fresh quality meal. Will frequent for sure.

Excellent! Definitely the best Thai in Naples. Great lunch specials for only $7.95. I've had the chicken fried rice, massaman curry, pork dumplings, chicken pad thai, wonton soup, and thai donuts. EVERYTHING is delicious! Staff is super friendly as well. Happy to find my new place!

We were given a warm welcome by Khwan Sawai, the owner of this cozy new spot herself. Every element, from the art on the walls to the service and food preparation was carefully crafted. For appetizer, my husband and I had krab rangoon and shumai (tasty shrimp dumplings). We continued with boneless duck and yaki soba (egg noodles sautéed with fresh vegetables and seafood). A wide range of authentic sauces from ginger and basil to carry or volcano could be selected to accompany the duck. I only planned to eat half of the generous yaki soba serving, but it was so good that I couldn't stop. We definitely recommend this place to all Thai and Japanese food lovers, and we already have plans to go back with friends.

Had been wanting to try out this place based on friends suggestion and yelp reviews. I think my expectations may have been a little high. We went for lunch, they do have great lunch specials! Staff was friendly, but slow. Took a little while to get out order and there weren't many customers seated, but I will say lots of take out orders coming through. That may have contributed to the slow service. In addition, when we finally got our food, they brought the wrong order. The waitress noticed right away though and was extremely apologetic. My boyfriend ordered the masamang curry, he loved that they used sweet potato! I ordered a yakisoba dish, also delicious. Super flavorful and loved the large quantity of veggies they used. Good portions for lunch as well, satisfyingly full. Overall for thai food I prefer Emon Thai, but if your hankering for a Japanese dish, this is a great place to go as they offer both Thai and Japanese food!

Our new favorite Thai restaurant in this area. Very accommodating staff, quick, friendly & welcoming! Food is consistent, extremely flavorful & tasty. We haven't had a bad dish yet & we eat there weekly. Waitress we usually have is so efficient - she remembered exactly what we had ordered prior! Very clean & when we've gone in there right before closing they were extremely welcoming and didn't rush us one bit. Love this place - you will too! Soups, noodle dishes & curries are phenomenal.
