Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We've eaten at Amigo's twice and both times been very pleased. The chips are served with a pico, a green sauce, and a red sauce. For our main course, we shared the combination and ordered an extra a la carte enchilada. Not only has our food been delicious, but in talking to others seated nearby, they too have raved. The draft Modelo was a bit flat and not cold enough for our taste, so the second visit, we ordered bottled beers. Going back again tomorrow night with friends!

This has to be the worse restaurant I have ever ate at as far as the rudeness and totally condescending attitude of the waitstaff (and these were adults). I will never return. My husband and I eat out a few times a week and we have never had such a bad experience. I have seen similar posts about this restaurant...can't imagine how they stay in business!

This is honestly my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Mexican cuisine, and I was a bit skeptical about this place when I went. It's an awful small little place that doesn't appeal to the eye from the outside, but once you walk in, it's quite adorable. The servers are so nice here and the food is absolutely delicious, definitely not like Taco Hell. They also serve SO MUCH FOOD. I recommend the chicken fajitas, it's my favorite thing on the menu! If you're looking for delicious Mexican food, this is the place.

I'm surprised to see so many terrible service reviews for Amigo's. Every time my family and I go there, the servers are so nice! They almost have our entire 5-person order memorized!! They also always keep our drinks refilled and will bring as many different hot sauces to our table as we want. Sometimes on a Saturday night when they are busy, you will have to wait a little. But I have never felt like they were being rude or demeaning. The restaurant is old, but I think they have put in new booths in the past year. No more struggling to get our of your seat. My family and I love the chips and spicy dips. The fajita plates are flavorful and a decent portion. I love their little chimichangas. Amigo's isn't world class dining, but I always leave satisfied after dining there.

Well my friends this is the real deal with a twist.....real Mexicans making a tex mex personal version of excellent food at a great price. I have been frequenting this establishment for years and they have NEVER failed me. Courteous, friendly, and never a belly ache after eating .....ever! Love the chimichanga with chicken, the frijitas, huevos rancheros, home made chips and salsa and on and on. Cool wine and beer bar ringed with every hot sauce imaginable oh and the atmospheric Mexican murals on the walls and cloud ceiling and sometime during the year real Mexican music performers....well what can I say They have always served me well when I came in from a shoot in the Everglades. My wife and I love this place!

I came here with a group of five this evening. We had a decent meal here but the service was lacking and unapologetic. Slow service all around and orders came out incorrectly. Then they forgot to charge us for an item on the bill but instead of letting it go (one of our appetizers) they insisted on bringing out another bill. One would think they could throw in a dessert or let the 5 bucks go considering the bad service we had. I will say that everyone should order the Horchata - delicious! Be aware that the food runs on the bland side, even if you ask for it to be spicy.

This is some really good Mexican in southwest fla (Naples area). Try one of everything if you can. The pork is excellent.

The food is competent. The very best part of the meal were the chips that were served. Definitely homemade. But the menu is clear -- your table (no matter how many people) is allowed exactly one basket of chips. You want more, you pay $2.75 for each basket. The food was ok. As described by one of the other posters, somewhat bland. I had a burrito. Cheddar cheese and sort of a barbequey beef. Rice was pretty bland. The service stinks, just stinks. This is the second time I've gone. The first time, apparently the entire restaurant was reserved and one of the waitresses erroneously seated us. After waiting quite a while for our order to be taken, eventually the owner asked us TO LEAVE her nearly empty restaurant because other patrons were coming. So we did. WOW. We foolishly tried again. We were shushed to a dark corner booth (with one side blocked by the chair from another table) because, again, some VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE were going to show. Again, half of the restaurant. Regrettably, we did not get in an out fast enough not to have the waitstaff slammed by having the entire place fill up in one fell swoop. No beverages refilled, no one checked to make sure the meal was ok, to see if we wanted anything else. Waited ten minutes for the check. So, if you want, OK, not great, but OK mexican food and you have a party of 30 and reserve the place, I guess its the place to be. If you're not, expect not to be welcome.

This is my family's favorite Mexican restaurant. Every time we visit Naples, we come here. Margaritas are perfect, I love everything I've tried. Fantastic service. Little hole in the wall, but this place is so magical.

I was skeptical when I took my family in on a whim. BUT! We were all pleasant surprised. Awesome salsa and chips, very taste rice and beans, entres were all great. The atmosphere doesn't match the quality of the food. It's basically a bar with tables and booths. I think it's Probly one of the best kept secrets in Naples!

It's been years since our last trip to Amigo's and unlike others on here, we are a fan. The chips are very good, you can tell they are made in house. I ordered the chicken fajitas and was given a man sized portion and it had great flavor. The pitcher of margaritas were quite tasty. Our server was great with our kids and made sure their ice cream had plenty of chocolate syrup and cherries.

Authentic. .. not so much.... yummy? Heck 'yeah! I always get my "fix" when I'm visiting my parents in Naples. They are regulars there, and call in "to-go" orders all the time. IMO, this is a great place for a casual lunch or dinner!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Living in Miami, there is a dearth of good Mexican restaurants. Loved the chimichanga which was perfectly light and crunchy on the outside, but cheesy and with flavorful pork on the inside. My husband ordered the very popular fajitas and those were absolutely wonderful - flavorful, fresh and sizzling. Service was attentive and prompt. And save room for the fried ice cream which is decadent but worth whatever workout you have to do later!

Let me say everyone has a different experience at restaurants, everyone likes something other's do not. Having said that I had a simple taco salad. I knew I wasn't going to enjoy it when the waitress came out with a pinkish/red taco shell. Yuck! That for me was a turnoff. The taco salad inside of the shell was just OK. I would not be running back here anytime soon. Decor was nice tho.

Stopped in for lunch with a co-worker. We both ordered the 'special' (chili rellenos) which was rather disappointing. The rice and refried beans were bland and the meat inside the pepper had to be doused in hot sauce to make palatable. I had a soda and my friend had a water. The kicker? Our meal cost $36 dolla. We almost fell out of our booth. Totally not worth it IMO.

Wife and daughter went to Amigo's for lunch today. Daughter found toothpicks in her Chimichanga. Management didn't even want to take this item off the bill, until they complained. Someone at Amigo's needs to brush up on their customer service skills. Foreign objects being ingested can cause real problems in someone's GI tract, and things like toothpicks cannot be picked up on x-rays. Won't be returning back here!

Best steak fajitas!! Bar full of hot sauces! Love it! Always great service! Recently renovated. Very nice.

When I travel to Naples, I always swing in to Amigo's. I love mexican food, and this is near where I regularly stay. I can't saw that the staff is warm & friendly, so I always attributed it to a possible language barrier & they are just being "reserved". Food is good. I wish they served Daquiri's, but they don't (for some reason). The booths are old & worn so prepare to sink down LOW & struggle to get up out of them. It's never been packed but I've never been there during regular meal times.

I measure all real Mexican places by this place.. Locally owned. Shrimp fajitas and the Guacamole is so good...
(5)Tanya S.
The best authentic Mexican in Naples. I highly suggest their Pork Burrito. Also, Guacamole is fantastic. Another favorite is their Spicy Shrimp dish. Excellent!

So-so food. Service is unacceptable. But there's an explanation. Several years ago, this was a good authentic Mexican restaurant. The patrons were mostly Mexican, with the occasional tourist stopping in. But then this restaurant was "discovered" and the problems began. Unfortunately, a lot of non-mexicans started going to the restaurant for it's reputation for great food but treated the Mexicans there poorly, restaurant staff and patrons alike. It really saddened me to see this. Within a year, the number of mexican patrons had reduced dramatically and the staff at the restaurant was treating the non-mexican customers with attitude. This included me, a long-time loyal customer. The food is no longer anywhere near as good, the margaritas are watered down, and the presentation is like a fast food place with condiments like salsa coming in mcdonalds ketchup style plastic squeeze packets and sour cream coming in little plastic tubs that are simply dumped on the edge of your plate. Now, on the rare occasions when I go to this restaurant, I witness the staff treating some patrons with disdain and/or hatred. It's shocking how bad this restaurant has gotten in just a few years. Don't go!
