Travel is stressful enough without having to deal with more stress in trying to get a decent meal on a layover. I have so much disdain for this airport, and my recent experience here did not rectify that at all. The decor is great and the menu looks yumtastic but dear god the service is so spotty and confusing. They are severely understaffed and some of their servers just don't have what it takes to properly keep things going. There was no host or hostess so after standing at the entrance for some time I just sat myself. When no one came to wait on me I moved to the bar and was taken care of well there, although my order was not filled correctly. Food is overpriced, as usual, but OK. Overall not worth the hassle. Unless you happen upon the restaurant when it is dead and you have a lot of time to kill, I would avoid this place. Don't even try it if you are pressed for time.

This place is so amazing!! The menu is perfect with an option for any person (vegan, vegi, meat lover) The sauces are amazing and you can't find a better burger anywhere else. I always get a beef burger with mozzarella cheese, baby spinach, and believe it or not tzatziki sauce! The sweet potato fries with the horseradish aioli is also out of this world. The staff are extremely friendly and know what they are talking about. Also, when you ask for medium or medium rare, you ACTUALLY get what you asked for. Made this spot my #1 burger joint. My ONLY issue with this place is that the door and the hostess counter aren't properly positioned to accommodate each other. You'll feel like you're walking in behind the hostess and catching them off guard.

I'd say the counter is above average food for an airport. They have the standard menu as a regular Counter, but the fries are included unlike a regular Counter- of course, the prices reflect that plus the airport premium. I enjoyed my burger though, and they were reasonably fast when I told them I was running late for my flight.

Overall not a bad burger, not cooked to my specifications of Medium, but I came in with low expectations. I did over hear the waiter put in an order for a Turkey Burger, and the cook responded with, " there's two already made" which leaves me to believe not everything is made to order. The fries were luke warn and not very good. Not the worst burger I've had but definitely not the best.

Totally NOT recommended! at the beginning I thought the hamburgers were good and big because of the price of them(around 15$). I'm a tourist and at the moment of looking at the check I was amazed, it cost me around 21$ a hamburger with a lemonade poorly prepared. Apart from being small, the taste was bad and not recommendable. The worst place of food in the entire airport!!

Service is terrible. This place is understaffed and the two servers in the restaurant appeared too stressed to deal with you. There is no one at the hostess stand, and there's a counter at the front to order which makes the service model completely confusing. I ordered at the 'counter,' told them I was going to sit down and sat down for almost 30 minutes before they figured out that I had gone to sit down (as I had told 2 servers already). Thus, my food arrived - soggy, cold sweet potato fries and a lukewarm veggie burger. No one apologized. When I asked for the drink I had paid for and a regular glass, I was told that it would be a few minutes and it was brought in a to go glass. I was never asked if I wanted a refill even though the sign states free refills. I finally had to ask the manager. Don't waste your time here. If you're looking for mediocre food, at least go somewhere else in the airport with mediocre service.

Awesome burger and really nice staff!! Both the bartender and the waitress were really nice! The burger is made with top grass fed lean angus beef and the whole wheat bread is really special! Can't miss the sweet fries too!! A really good surprise on my lunch break from one flight to another.. Too bad they don't have restaurants in Mia outside the airport..

Horrible service, okay burgers. Yesterday, I was on a quick layover and thought I'd stop in for a burger. The waiter (and many of the wait staff) were walking around like snails, acting like they didn't really want to be there. After I had finished my burger, which was supposed to be medium rare but came out rare, I asked for my check. The waiter never even returned to the table for a refill on my soda or ask if everything was ok. I had about 5 minutes to get to my gate. The waiter said okay and walked to the computer to print it out. The next thing I know, he goes back to the kitchen area without bringing the check. He spent about 5 minutes talking with the other waiters and kitchen staff. With their backs turned on the customers, I couldn't get his attention. I threw down a $20 bill and left, telling the hostess that the service was terrible and I left the money on the table. He probably got a 73 cent tip. Food is overpriced for what you get, service is terrible.

I love the Counter! Chicago used to have one, it recently shut down, so I was really excited to see it in the airport! Me and couple of people decided to eat here, the service was excellent, we got out food pretty quick, and the food tasted great. I love that they have all sorts of sauces/vegetables/cheeses you would want to put in your burger. I also love that they have texas toast! The only downfall - the counter is Chicago had pretzel bun, but this one didn't. Probably one of the best places to eat in the Miami airport (from what I saw in Terminal D). If you love burgers, you should check out this place.

You write down your order & hand it to the waiter... You'd think this be impossible to screw up, right? Well the folks at Miami airport's Counter did a fantastic job doing this. This was hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had, service & food wise. Where do I even begin... We placed our orders, 4 burgers and a full (large) order of sweet potato fries. For a burger place, not asking how you want your burger cooked. STRIKE #1 A small order of fries came out... easy mistake, asked the waiter to correct it. Brought out 4 orders of small fries instead. Ok, sure another mistake, but his Latino accent was thick, the confusion between "full" & "four" is understandable. Brought it up to his attention. His response "Oh I thought you ordered 4 instead of a full order" Normally he or the manager would just correct this mistake on the bill, but no nothing, not even an apology for making this mistake. STRIKE #2 After waiting an extraordinarily long amount of time we received our burgers. Out of the 4 burgers ordered: 4 of 4 were burnt to a crisp 3 of 4 were missing items listed on the order sheet 2 burgers (which were the same) were prepared differently, rendering one completely inedible, how is this even possible. The food was almost inedible, most of us couldn't get through half of it. STRIKES #3 & #4 The Counter is a franchise so I cannot blame the corporate owners, but I am blaming the owners of Miami airports Counter. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. This place deserves a ZERO.

Great concept, but a huge miss in quality. Ordered a turkey burger and it was very dry. Ordered cheese, they forgot to put it on the burger, so they gave me a side of cheese. Lastly, stay away from the whole wheat bun. It was so dried out it crumbled in my hands. The waitress said they get a bunch of complaints about the bun. Well here is an idea, listen to your customers, if they tell you something is wrong, do something about it. The waitress must have seen me writing this review, she comped the burger, due to that, I may give this place a chance again next trip through Miami.

Upon waiting for my plane back to NY, this was the only spot that had seating available for us to eat. At first I didn't want to stay because I realized they only served burgers and vegetarians do no eat burgers, but then I saw a veggie burger on the menu and I was set. Sl So you get a sheet of paper and you fill in what you want. I believe for around $10 you get the protein of your choice (beef, veggie, or turkey burger), one type of cheese, 2 toppings, and 2 sauces. Anything additional is like under a buck. You can do this on bread or in salad form. My burger was good. Actually the toppings are what made it so great. I also had this "grown up" shake, the Bananas Foster to be exact. Oh my gosh was that thing rich and delicious. It was a milk shake with liquor. It had vanilla icecream, stoli vanilla, fresh bananas, baileys, 99 bananas, caramel, and a bunch of other stuff that just made my heart melt. The fries were also good, much like McDonald's. I thought this place was really unique. I had never been to a spot like before, and ill defintely be back on my travels to Miami.

This location for The Counter really let me down. This is my absolute favorite burger place in Southern California, but this attempt at it in the Miami airport gives it a bad name for people that have never been to the real thing. To start off, it is a limited menu which is understood at the airport I guess but they didn't even have the fried onion strings which is one of the best sides they have. I ordered the burger with a side of sweet potato fries and a root beer to make sure I kept it "All American". The sweet potato fries were not warm when they brought them out and the wheat bun was really hard. Overall the burger still tasted good, but not as good as the real restaurants. It's not the worst thing I've had at an airport but I won't go out of my way again to go to this location when I'm craving my favorite burger while traveling away from home.

Considering that airport food is just chain restaurants or prepackaged items that have been sitting there all day, The Counter is pretty good! It is a bit pricier than eating at Wendys etc but I think the experience is worth it. I love the idea of picking my own toppings and making a super loaded burger! I really enjoyed my burger (topped with a poached egg on texas toast!), fries and milkshake. After a meal like that I am so ready for a long flight haha! However, the service is not so great. They are not very attentive; they give off the impression that they are always understaffed so if you need something you really need to stand up to get the attention of the servers. If you are not in a rush, then this may not be such an annoyance.

Alrighty...I was super excited to stop in at The Counter during my layover in MIA. I have been to the Atlanta-area Counter and it was superb, so I was looking forward to the experience. I guess it would be more fair to compare The Counter MIA to other eateries in the airport, and I'm guessing it would blow them out of the water. Certainly compared to what I ate on my outbound flight at the Atlanta airport, The Counter was a superior meal. But I'm forced to compare it with The Counter location I've been to before, and I have to say, it's just OK. The food, I mean. The service was great, and our server in particular was really great. But the burgers were just...fine. Which is not what I was hoping to say after. It seemed like the choices were slightly more limited as far as toppings, buns, and sides...my favorites from Atlanta, the rosemary fries and the black bean & corn salsa were absent. I understand that the airport poses some challenges, as far as getting food out quickly so people can make flights, etc., but overall, the experience was just a little lackluster. Our total, for two sandwiches (no premium toppings), one shared side, and two beers, was about $50 before tip. Yikes (and seriously...$8 beer? Really?!?)...And The Counter MIA becomes a place I would only go if I were on an expense account.

Had to buy a ready sandwich on the go. Price $11.99 took it with me in the plane, the bread was soggy/wet! Pretty nasty! Next time I rather make my own sandwich at home rather than paying a ridiculous price for wet bread.

The food was good...glad I had a 3 hour layover. They are slower than molasses and it's not even crowded in here. In addition, the staff isn't friendly. Won't be back to ask for hot fresh fries.....

It's always kind of dicey when you eat food at an airport eatry. Big problem with these places is that they over promise, under deliver and charge you an arm and a leg for it. I was in Miami during a stop over on my way to Costa Rica. I was in the Gate 30 to 39 area and they had about three areas that were kind of interesting. I ruled out TGIF because it was a chain, there was a cafeteria style place I avoided as I seldom have good experiences with buffet type joints. That left the Counter. The counter is just off of Gate 33 and is a stark, white set up. At first I thought i was a wine bar but a closer examination showed that it was a place that boasted of grass fed hormone free beef burges that are custom built. Looking at the menu, I noticed it also had a veggie burger. As I am currently in a quasi vegetarian mode right now, I decided to try it out. Each table has a clipboard and you choose the kind of burger you want, type of bun, toppings, cheeses and sauces. There actually was a pretty wide variety of things you can pile on top. I ordered a veggie burger on a whole grain bun, with jalapeno peppers, pickles, onions and lettuce, tillamook cheddar cheese and a chipotle sauce. Bottled water to drink. The burger came out in about 15 minutes nice and hot. It was appropriately sized, about the size of your average 1/3 pounder. The thing that gave this dish flavor was the condiments I choose. Veggie burger was a bit tasteless and the texture was pretty mushy. Whole Grain Bun seemed a bit dry. But I admit, I had to remind myself that this was a veggie burger and to expect it to be a hamburger was unreasonable. The Counter also offers grilled cheese, sandwiches, various kiddie options, fries and sweet potato fries. Alcohol is also available. Waitresses were pleasant enough although they do seem to be easily destracted and prone to clustering together and talking. The price? Tip, Burger and Water $20.00. Pretty steep, even if it is airport food.

I was determined not to each bad food at an airport on this day. I had the worst experience at Sushi Maki so this time I took my time walking around and scouting places. We have this place in Houston & friends rave about it so I decided to try it. I don't eat red meat and with it being Lent- I chose the veggie burger. I also had the sweet potatoes fries and a bloody mary. You know what? I liked this place. Food was tasty especially the fries. The only thing that left a sour taste in my mouth was the bill- about $30! Ouch. Might go back - just depends on how hungry/desperate I am.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here at MIA Terminal D. I ordered the "Unique Veggie Burger": a home made veggie burger on whole grain bun with spring mix, roasted red peppers, purple onions, alfalfa sprouts, and balsamic dressing in the side. I ordered fries on the side(all items sold separately). It was packaged nicely as well. Why 3 stars instead of more? You have to prepay. My order took longer than expected and my flight was already boarding by the time it was ready. Also, the fries were kinda skimpy and should have just been included with the burger.

Hormone-free, grass-fed beef is an amazing find at an airport. Thank you "The Counter" for providing an edible eatery in this maze of an airport. From the main hall, you can easily find The Counter across from the Bitto art store in Terminal D. It's almost like eating at home, because get to build your own burger from a ton of unique and classic toppings. It's a very friendly staff. Always willing to help. Get the sweet potato fries! Delish!

Considering Airport food usually sucks I was very impressed to see The Counter! I love their food always, they even had outlets where I could charge my phone while I ate. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the service here sucked. The girl at the bar, Peggy, was nice and helpful but service was a LITTLE slow but that wasn't her fault seeing as how every person who walked in was greeted by the hostess with "you can sit at the bar, or we also have food to go" she just sounded like she really didn't want you in there. NONE of the other employees even flashed a smile while I was there and no one but Peggy helped me even though I was clearly done with my meal and waiting for my check. I expect more from The Counter. Shame on you rude employees, shame on you! lol

When you are stuck in an airport, it's a like spotting an oasis in the desert when you find a place like the Counter. Granted the prices are a little higher than the McDonald's or whatever garbage fast food you typically find, the extra money you'll spend is worth it. Service and food quality are outstanding. If you've ever been in a "make your own" burger place, you'll love the options and setup of the Counter's burgers. I had a veggie burger with blue cheese, grilled pineapple, roasted red peppers, jalapenos, dried cranberries (cool!), and I think Ginger soy glaze. Wow. it was super yummy and a great "last meal" before I embarked on my flight. Special shout out to our server Karrie who was very patient and explained all the sauces. Thanks for the great dining experience.

We were starving and search of something that will satisfy our appetites. Came here with hopes of similar experiences as back in Cali. Sadly we were disappointed. My burger came over cooked, fried egg was completely over cooked, and that was the big kicker for me. Despite that big no no, service was good. I guess you shouldnt really complain about airport food, right?

    (2)
  • Mac O.

3.5 stars. I rarely, if ever, get excited about airport food. It rarely, if ever, comes close to anything I'd elect to eat in real life. The Counter, however, kinda does. The concept of this California-based chain is "custom built burgers." Menus come with a checklist to fill out. Pick your own everything (humanely raised, antibiotic and hormone free beef, veggie burger, multigrain bun, English muffin, Texas toast, jalapeño jack, brie, horseradish cheddar, cole slaw, grilled pineapple, corn and black bean salsa, satay sauce, sundried tomato vinaigrette, chipotle aioli) and hand your checklist to your server. Any burger you can conceive of -- turkey, chicken even -- you can build at The Counter. SIL and I happened to pick off their composed menu on our visit, tho. She had the Grilled Cheese Trifecta with Tillamook cheddar, American, and Provolone. I had the Asian Veggie Burger in a Bowl: organic greens, carrot strings, red onion, grilled pineapple, roasted red peppers, scallions, ginger soy glaze, and peanut sauce topped with a 1/3 pound house made veg patty. It was surprisingly delicious and filling -- I barely finished half the salad. We also shared a plate of The Counter's extra-thin, crisp fries. Service was okay and prices were outlandish, but we were fat and happy the whole plane ride home. When was the last time you could say *that* about a flight?

Really bad service. The staff lacks the basics of hospitality. I stopped here for a burger, I waited for 15' before I asked for a server. The lady seating people did not show any interest in the fact that there were at least 3 other parties waiting to order. She simply said we're under staffed and we have one waiter only. She then continued to argue with her colleague at the to go counter! I live in NYC and this type of service and behavior will kill a business in a week in the city.

I have spent way too many nights in the crappy terminal at the Miami airport and man was I stoked to see The Counter - finally something veggie friendly, semi low in calories (depending on what you order). Although way less toppings than their out of airport locations - this was definitely the best I have had at the Miami airport.

The burger meat was excellent, but it was over $40 for 2 beers and 2 small burgers. My husband was less than happy with the portion size. I enjoyed every bite and the waitress was very friendly, but it was too pricey for what you got - no side items at all at that price, not even a pickle.

The woman at the entrance was totally absorbed in her chat in Spanish with some other woman, and paid no attention to me whatsoever. After waiting for a few minutes to be seated, I decided to seat myself. Again, nobody paid any attention to me, even though several employees were slowly walking around. I had to go and grab the checkmark menu myself from their front desk and wait for more time before someone decided to take my order. Burger was well done even though I had ordered medium.

I'm surprised others aren't giving this place better reviews. Organic greens, grass-fed beef, vegan options! I loved it. I went vege, and it was delicious. Better quality than one would expect in an airport (by a lot), and the scene is a little more rarefied than the usual pub/Cuban fare that you see across MIA. Service is prompt, although since the burgers are cooked to order, it does take about 10 minutes to get your food. You're presented with a breakdown of how you'd like your food, such as Protein, Toppings, Greens, Cheeses, Sauces, and Buns. For the health-nuts, such as me, you can do the following: - Veggie burger (outstandingly delicious, a touch sweet with the sweet potato, and very savory) - Organic mixed greens (forego a bun, even wheat, and you can have it on a big bed of lettuce) - Roasted mushrooms, tomatoes, guacamole, fresh avocado, pickles, etc. add flavor and color to the meal - There are a lot of sauces to compliment the dishes All in all, a great experience for airport fare.

We had a short layover on our way to California and wanted something fast. Burgers came out great and really fast! The service we got was wonderful! He was helpful with the menu and really friendly. Sweet potato fries were really good. They have a great beer list as well.

After a week out of the country, I craved a good burger, and for the most part, the Counter delivered a pretty tasty beef bomb. I love the create your own customization aspect of this burger joint. I opted for a medium rare burger with blue cheese, grilled onions, mayo, and Thai peanut sauce...Ok, that last part, the peanut sauce, might have been over the top, but I was swept up in the condiment magic The Counter's create your own style. My burger was good, but I do wish it was a little cold, even for medium rare. Also, it seemed a bit expensive with a price tag of $33 + for a burger, fries and 2 light beers. I guess Five Guys still rules the day.

Nice custom burgers as advertised. Had the veggie burger, guac, cheddar, olives, pepperonicini, ranchero sauce, mixed greens, good fries. Son enjoyed the banana shake. For airport terminal option , recommend this place. :-)

I've been to this location twice. Both times I have been very pleased with the food. There is a wide range of burger combinations and they are cooked well. A little pricey, but given that it is an airport restaurant, it seems worth it for higher quality food. Unfortunately, both times it has seemed like the restaurant is horribly understaffed. While the staff is friendly enough, I consistently had to wave someone down to get silverware, more water, etc. On my most recent visit, I had to wait fifteen minutes for someone to come get my credit card. If you have a tight layover, I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.

  • Lauren M.

I had some time before my flight, so I stopped here to grab a burger, thinking it would be fairly quick compared to the other restaurants. However, the service was painfully slow, especially considering it's an airport. While there, two other guests sitting near me got up and left because they needed to catch their flights and they'd been waiting way too long to either a) put in their order, or b) get their burger. I had enough time to spare that I was able to sit and wait for my burger, but I had to scarf it down when it arrived. And then I had to ask another server for my check because I didn't see my server anywhere in sight. I did not leave a generous tip, to say the least. My veggie burger was alright. I added carmelized onions as a topping, and for some reason they tasted really off, so I ended up taking them out. But it still left a bad taste in my mouth. All in all, it was better than eating a McDonald's burger given the abundance of topping options (and the fact that it was vegetarian - hallelujah!), but it was not good enough to return to that location. The sweet potato fries were delicious though. When you're at the airport and don't have a lot of time to fart around. While in Miami, maybe I should have stuck to a solid, reliable Cuban sandwich.

  • Jennifer S.

First time eating at a Counter and I'm SOLD. I freaking loved that burger so much. Granted I was ravenously hungry at the time, but the burger was cooked PERFECTLY, the condiments were delicious (although, with a build your own burger, i sorta got to take credit for THAT), and the service was fast and friendly. If you're in the Miami airport and you want a burger... GO HERE. DELISH!

    (4)
  • Lance S.

An amazingly different "fast food" restaurant in the Miami airport. Highly recommend the sweet potato fries. We got "salad bowl burgers" with thick & "meaty" veggie burgers and lots of yummy condiments. This restaurant is not cheap! Be ready to spend $50 including tip for a lunch for 2. But if you want really fine & fast lunch food this is the place.

    (5)
  • Ashley G.

They are your typical airport restaurant. The servers are nice. But they had 1 task. I ordered a BLT with avocado and it came with no bacon. That's the main ingredient and it took 20 minutes to come out. After I got my side of bacon and assembled my sandwich I can say that it tasted just okay. But again you are at the airport don't have high hopes.

    (3)
  • Matt Z.

Am a fan of the chain and the concept, but not the location. I had to flag down my own server, then wait 30 minutes watching as others who came after received their food. Somehow ate a burger in less than five minutes, but had to skip the fries to make my flight. Worst service ever and I should have walked out.

    (2)
  • Matt S.

Awful overpriced food. Ordered the classic breakfast sandwich before my flight. Tasteless and dry. Menu said it comes with potatoes, they charged me for them and it was a pre frozen hash brown like the ones at McDonald's. Much better options then this at the airport don't waste your time or money.

Ambiance nice, server and service good; but $26.76 for 1/3 cheeseburger 50/50 fries and Coke zero...not! Is this normal for MIA?

    (3)
  • Savanna M.

Decided to grab a bite to eat here before our flight. The reason for 3 stars? The prices...I get that it's an airport and I expected it to be over priced, but seriously 1 burger, 1 small egg sandwich and 2 bloody marys for more than $50 is a bit steep! The food itself was ok. Steven C. did a customized burger with peanut sauce and lots of other yummy toppings, and I did a customized egg sandwich that came with no sides and sadly was a bit small. We sat at the bar so service wasn't really an issue for us, but it did take a while for our food to come out, especially when you consider the restaurant was maybe only a third of the way full. The best thing about this place was the hostess/greeter in the front who was extremely friendly and enthusiastic and was probably the main reason we ate here. BOTTOM LINE: Stick to the airport "food court". Things will still be expensive but at least you'll get your food quickly!

We've been to TWO The Counter locations and this one at the MIA airport was not as good and as expected, since it's at the airport, definitely more expensive. We filled out our burger order sheets and I wanted mine with the avocado on the side which I wrote in and they just stacked it in the burger. I also had whole wheat buns and they were cold and dry, not toasted. The plain buns look and taste better -- and they're toasted! Had I known, I would have asked for toasted buns. Fries were hot and fresh but something was just off about the MIA location. It was just okay and not great as the one in Walnut Creek, CA. I think with the add-on avocado, it was about $18. Pretty pricey for a burger but sure beats eating at Wendy's or some other fast food place that was a few doors down from here.

The MIA Burger in rare form was great! Sweet potatoes fries were good, but almost cold. Heribert runs the front end like he really loves the customers and wants you to feel welcomed. The down side is that he's 1 of 2 people in what could turn into a very busy set of tables and the bar. Also had the Strawberry and Banana shake and it was perfect. With all this comfort food on board, I'm sure to nap on the flight out of MIA. I would eat at this place outside the airport if possible.

The service here was SUPER slow which can be a real pain when trying to eat before your flight. Sat down at 11:30 and didn't leave until 1, just for two people. My friends order was completely wrong, which I feel is hard to do at the counter because you order by using a checklist. They gave her a 10% discount off the bill for the mess up, didn't have time to send it back and have it corrected. The food was still good and counter quality, it was just the time spent waiting that was annoying.

Been here twice before during layovers and have had the build your own burgers and salad. Always great. Very surprised today when I had an amazing breakfast...build your own omelet with a side of plantains that are always sweet and cooked to perfection. The staff is always super friendly, even early in the morning. Love it here and I am extremely particular about where I eat especially burgers. You must stop here if and when at the Miami Airport.

December 27th, 2014 - My fiance and I were greeted by a very friendly hostess. When we came in there were two tables being attended and a few people at the bar. I had time to fill out the "create your own burger" card without any instructions (about 4-5 minutes) before we met our waiter, Alfredo. He then took my card and asked me what I wanted to drink. I ordered a tall Stella, but it had so much foam, I asked him very politely to top it off for me. Unfortunately, that would be the last interaction I had with Alfredo for about an hour. A busser brought me my food, I finished my drink, a busser came by and got my empty plate, and I sat there another 25 minutes until I asked another waiter to speak with a manager. In stark contrast to the service I received, the table next to us was greeted by a waiter immediately where he went over the menu options with those patrons, took drink orders, and even came back to check on them. In fact, I asked that waiter if we was the manager because of his service to the two tables he tended in our area. Also, when the manager came over, she first gave her attention to the table next to ours, as if it could not have been us who asked to speak to her. I don't want to assume the worst, but it crossed my mind at that time that two of us, black customers, may not have received equal service or attention simply for that reason. After speaking with the manager, who apologized and offered me another drink, Alfredo came over, apologized, provided us with a discount, then pointed at another table (one that I knew the waiter was tending) telling me that he was "busy with that large party". I told him that I did not want a discount-- just the check, but he insisted. This is the kind of thing that ruins your dinning experience, no matter how well the food was made. While I appreciate the manager for acting swiftly, this wasn't something a discount would fix. I make sure to regularly tell managers when the service was exceptional, great, when I noticed the waiter was very busy, in large parties, etc.; it is rare that I leave feedback otherwise, but this experiences warranted such feedback.

Food wasn't fresh tasting. No vegan bun options, but the server upon inquiry investigated this for us. And as always for airport food, overpriced, but this felt especially so when considering the quality. Probably will look elsewhere on our return flight.

Good burger just a little pricey for my taste. ($16) They have lots of meat, toppings, and bread options which I like. I did a build your own burger (beef, provolone, lettuce, onion, grilled pineapple on wheat bread with sweet potato fries) The grilled pineapple was disappointing but still a good burger.

Total waste of money. 15 for a tiny (it's the smallest patty I've ever seen from the counter) burger with limited sides and their selection is so small. This is not what I expected when I asked for a seat. The taste was alright though. I'm not planning on going there again.

My ranking is based on the fact that they have Gluten Free options and separate friers. No cross contamination. burgers are good Not awesome, just good. The prices for the food is a bit step but hey we are in an airport, it's expected

Great burger, gluten free bun option, crisp fries AND they rushed our order so we could make our flight. Friendly hostess and server!!

Out of all the veggie options, and lousy in attentive service.

Breakfast food was below average for the Counter. Service was very slow and to get my check even took longer. For an airport location it was a real bad experience.

Food = good. Service (at the bar) = ridiculous. If you are in a rush, best to avoid sitting at the bar here. Guy was just chatting with a patron and completely ignoring the rest of us!

They had cold fries!! How is that possible for a burger joint? Disappointed Priced higher....at least 25% higher than Reston price....probably because in airport? Burger: was consistently good so that's a plus Ordered a glass of cab: what was i thinking. Need to make a mental note to go with beer when at a burger joint Cleanliness: fine

The food here was great! Customizable meals with quality ingredients. The reason for the 3 stars? The environment created by the employees there made my boyfriend I feel uncomfortable and almost tense. They would argue with each other, yell at each other, and say inappropriate things to each other. The way the restaurant is set up, you are a part of their kitchen, bar, and computer area. I would definitely recommend that they keep their personal issues or discussions for off the floor or to the side, so that their customers can have a comfortable experience, especially for the price we have to pay for their food, which is pretty steep.

The food was delicious, but the service was even better. I have never had such friendly and fast service!

It's fairly good as an upscale burger. The issue is it just isn't fast enough for an airport selection. If you have a lot of time, it's pretty good though. Also, missing from their menu are the onion strings! This is a favorite of mine at the Palo Alto location.

If you like raw hamburgers and warm milkshakes, this place is for you. However, the shoestring fries were good.

The counter is always a classic destination when I'm in the airport. A creative take on your average burger joint. I was able to get exactly what I wanted...chicken sandwich with bacon, avocado, grilled onions, and delicious blue cheese. The burger combinations here are endless. A bit on the heavy side but highly recommended next time your in Miami!

I am a big fan of the Counter chain, but have had trouble at the take out counter here twice: on both my visits I've encountered rude staff, and on my most recent visit my food was inedible. Both my veggie burger and sweet potato fries were burnt black and tasted terrible. On both visits, the staff was unwilling to answer basic questions about the food (ex: what is Texas Toast?) and was snappy when I asked for an estimate on how long it would take to prepare. I hope they take my feedback (and that of others) to work on improving the experience. I fly through MIA often and would like to be able to eat here again, but at this point, I would not.

We visited The Counter while on a layover in Miami. We were coaxed in by the hostess and sat down right away. We ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, a BLT with avocado, and an order of fries. After we sat down, our friends came to join us, but they just wanted an order of fries, and to chat while we finished our food. In order to accommodate us, they moved us to a table for 4 in another section and told me and my husband we would be keeping our waitress, but that our friends would have another waiter, who I think his name was Manuel. I kid you not, that when Manuel found out our friends were ordering "just fries" he threw a complete grown man hissy fit. In front of us. He complained to the hostess that she better give him a "good table", he complained to our waitress, and to anyone that would listen to him. Needless to say while this ran went on for the duration of our meal, our waitress decided she would take over for him for our friends, and she was the one who gave them a check. Not once were they asked if they would like anything to drink, because who knows? Maybe they would've had a $50 bar tab? I guess we'll never know. It's really a shame that the service was lacking because our food was quite good. My husband said it was probably the best sandwich he had on our entire vacation even.

Stopped in here on a layover. Burgers were really good and cooked exactly as specified. The chipotle aioli was awesome. In response to other reviews, of course it's expensive ($20/person), it's the airport! Service could use a little work, but I would go back. I'd eat a stick if that aioli were on it.

Its only one of those and recognized by things that you think about and say to yourself: why didn't i think of that? Someone had the ingenious idea of getting something so simple, popular and craved by everyone and turn it into a F@&%?! big deal. They have exactly 312,120 plus different burger combinations (ITS A BURGER BAR)!!!! You step in and you are greeted with a clipboard so that you can engineer your gourmet meal the way your gut tells your brain it needs to. You get to choose the bun, the meat, the ingredients which are all very fresh and extensively long. They have signature deserts, if you are not a bread person you can have your burger on a bowls with all the toppings you desire. They offer beef, chicken, vegan veggie and a market selection burger. You can pick any topping you like from dried cranberries to onion rings to mushrooms anything you can think of. Its burger heaven, offering different buns to choose from like traditional, ciabatta, wheat bun, glutten free and english muffin. I personally had the vegan veggie burger on a ciabatta bun decorated with soft ripened brie, dried cram berries, baby spinach, sauteed mushrooms. It was WOWWWWWWWW. They rarely make a burger exactly alike the same day, you can pretty much say they are as unique as every single costumer they see. They have a nice modern set up. If you haven't experienced this before you should come try it. They have cold beers, unique wines and all the burger styles and types you can imagine. This place is fill your tummy and satisfy your mind because you'll get burger options only limited by your imagination. Come try the counter, the food made from your imagination and delivered to your table!

A Standout among terminal food. We travel a lot...and we loathe overpriced airport food. Enter The Counter to save all our problems! This is a made to order burger joint. (You can get your burger as a salad.) You pick your meat (or veggie burger) and all your toppings. The burger itself runs about $10 and does not come with sides but the sides are only about $2 per order and are large enough to share. You can really customize your order to be just about anything you like. Service was excellent. It is small place so it can get a little crowded but they have a to go counter as well.

What a great start to our trip! If you ever have the opportunity to drop on at this spot and be served by Heriberto you'll know what I'm talking about. He is one of the friendliest bartenders I've ever had. He was greeting people left and right, welcoming people passing by to drop in for food or a beverage. His Bloody Mary was top notch! A perfect start to our Sunday morning trip to Nicaragua. Mom ordered the old school burger and insisted that we all try it because it was that good! She was right. When others ordered self created burgers, Heriberto would announce to all at the bar, "Check out this beautiful burger!" When it arrived. Each one looking better than the one before. GREAT FOOD! Thanks for a great send off, Heriberto!
