Happy Hour is pretty terrific! $2 Sake and $4 Shrimp Tempura Roll, you cant go wrong. Fresh food, good service and worth a try. BJs, Kendall Conservatory of Music and a Jewlery Exchange are all in the same shopping center. I like to stop in for quick bite. Yum!

FOOD: I had the sushi bento box. I came with a delicious miso soup and cold and crisp side salad with homemade ginger dressing, Both were great. A few minutes later, my bento box arrived which not only looked great but tasted delicious. It had 4 pieces of assorted sushi, California roll, pickled cucumber salad and some vegetable and shrimp tempura. The whole thing was delicious. SERVICE: Very friendly and efficient. VALUE: Very fair prices with the amount and quality of food I received. ATMOSPHERE: The place is beautifully decorated with contemporary Asian tones. I really enjoyed the upfront kitchen and sushi station were our food was being prepared. I could not only see my food being prepared, but also smelled other delicious dishes being prepared. A plus.

I have been eating here since the 80s if not before. I first started eating here when the original owners still owned it. The food has always been good. The service has also always been decent. My daugther loves it and asks to go eat at Tokyo when she wants to have Miso soup and edamame for food. For decent Sushi it is the place to go.

I went to the bathroom and there is mold all over the ceiling, I even took a picture and posted it on facebook to warn everyone, later I saw a roach waking inside the restaurant right next to my table. This restaurant used to be my go-to place for a sushi fix whenever we weren't in the mood to drive out to the Gables for Moon Thai and Sushi. Although it's prominently surrounded by several plazas, I've never seen this place packed. (good thing for those dining there!) They have a pretty extensive sushi and sashimi menu that's sure to please anyone who loves the stuff. The prices are reasonable and the service has always been good when we've gone. An all around solid Japanese restaurant in the heart of Kendall.

We went here on Saturday, and my wife discovered a live maggot on her plate. Then we started looking around and found 2 more live maggots and there were insect wings all over the table. We told the waitress and she acted like it wasn't a big deal. We left before we threw up and went to five guys a few units down.

we used to go here a lot and the rolls were HUGE, fish was fresh and service was good. I love the ambience of this place, the way the sushi bar is set up. The last time we went back the rolls were significantly smaller but still, very yummy. good menu, lots of selections.

Stopped in for lunch. Empty joint, seated quickly. Had sashimi bento box - very filling. A lot of food for $10, and tasty too. I'd probably eat here again. It's somewhat of a sad place. I get the feeling it's been around for a long time, and there is some definite loss of luster in the decor and especially the bathrooms. But, the prices are good and the food is decent, and the service efficient. It's a good stop for lunch.

I almost hate posting this because I'd hate for this place to get crowded and lose my seat by the bar ;-) , but I'll take a chance because they deserve it. I've been a sushi lover for over 20 years. This is absolutely the best and freshest sushi this side of South Beach. The place and location does not look like much but if you want amazing sushi, caught fresh each day, served up by the best sushi chef in town, this is it! That's all I'm saying.

The best fried rice I've ever had, even without that yummy pink sauce. Now, don't you dare ask for that pink sauce, though, The unfriendly waitress will give you a blank stare and pretend like she's never heard of such a thing before. There's a funky smell to the place when you first walk in. Its a faint roach smell mixed with fried japanese food. It's truly a shame this restaurant is going downhill and losing its customers due to lack in service, because their food is delicious and pretty authentic. You're better off bringing your own bottle of water because that one time of water serving is all you're going to get. I left the place still thirsty. Overall, this place would be OK to go if you're not in a hurry and you dont care about service. They have great tasting food but lack staff and customer service.

About as authentic as it comes. Delicious rolls with fantastic prices! Definitely the bang for your buck. Portion sizes are huge and everything on the menu is devine. Miss the old location, but this one is cozy. Recipes haven't changed and that's all that matters. This place is a must try nestled in a little shopping plaza.

Sorry to crush everyones dreams about this sushi experience, but it was my worst yet. First off, there is one sushi chef and one waitress during lunch! Bad idea when your little establishment is rockin with hungry people. Once you walk in, you can assume it's seat yourself otherwise you'll be waiting a loooooong time before someone even approaches you. I felt like a good samaritan and actually did some hostess duties while waiting for our waitress to come around and I let people in on the seat yourself rule. So while we waited more than we should and were about to leave to another sushi restaurant nearby, the waitress finally comes over for our order. We could tell she was rushed so we were as efficient as possible. Nothing complicated...two waters, a Bento Box and a Shrimp Tempura Roll with eel sauce on the side. After waiting another unreasonable amount of time, we finally got our meals. I speak for my roll...it was all rice! They looked rather large, but it was all a fraud. The roll was mostly rice. It fell apart easily and was not wrapped tight like my usual shrimp tempura rolls. In addition, waitress never came around to replace my eel sauce or water refill and was literally running from table to table. This pressure of course compromises the service. She never smiled, seemed irritated and rushed the whole time. I said thank you several times- once when she brought out food and the second time for the bill and both times I was ignored as she hurried off to handle something else. You would assume that service was fast, but the truth is it took almost an hour and a half between start to finish and we were only 2 people with very simple orders. Sorry Sushin, no plans on returning anytime soon...your rolls weren't worthy and neither was your service!

Man, what a disappointment. There were 3 tables in the entire restaurant and the wait staff still took forever. The tonkatsu ramen had no flavor, the rolls were missing ingredients, and the hamachi was over cooked.

First and last time. Had the California Roll and Caliente Roll. California had no cucumber, all sticky breaking apart. The caliente roll didn't even have the spicy mayo, I had to ask for a side of mayo. Sometimes you have to stick with what you know. Get out make a left and drive to Kampai 72st and 87 Ave. they are the best

The food was pretty tasty. We started off with the Yakimatsu which is a mushroom and onion dish sauteed with ponzu sauce. It was very tasty for being a pretty simple dish. We then asked for the Dragon boat. This boat was exactly enough food for 3 people. It included a dragon roll, JB roll and California roll. You also had the choice of appetizer and desert (off of a given list not just any on the menu). We had the crab rangoon. It had to have been the freshest rangoon I have ever had. We ended with the Thai donuts which of course, who can ever get that wrong. Overall it was good food and the cost definitely fit the meal. Service was a tad bit slow but overall our waitress was very nice.

I don't usually post reviews but my experience at this place was so unique that I had to share. After placing my order with a less than customer service oriented woman, who took about 10 minutes, I was asked to wait approximate 45 minutes for my order. About 10 minutes after, I receive a follow up call asking for additional details as to where my home was and was happy to answer. Hoping that this would only decrease my wait time, given that I was starving!!! An additional 20 minutes pass by before I receive a final call from the same woman who took my order asking me to pick up the order since they were too busy. Since I could not do so at the time, she simply apologized and hung up. Needless to say, I'M NEVER trying this place again!!!! Might be great for dine in but don't hold your breath if you're ordering for delivery.

I love the dragon boat combo here. Its a great price for the amount of sushi you get, plus spring rolls, and a dessert. Also, the pad thai and stir fried udon are great and pretty cheap. The staff is alright, and sometimes can be slow but overall I definitely would come back.

Fresh sushi and delicious rolls. The portions are extremely great for the value of the price. Service is amazing, and very welcoming. One of my favorite places to have sushi! Try the spider roll with some kimchee- you won't be disappointed.

I would like to say that my husband & I frequent Sushin quite often ever since we first discovered in 2 years ago. While the staff isn't the friendliest, the food has always been great, & that was more than enough for us to keep returning. However.. Our experience today was.. Really gross. There's just no other way to put it. I found a baby cockroach in my food today. First of all, that's just beyond gross on so many levels, but I do understand that hey.. Sometimes stuff gets unbroken food accidentally. I get that. However, the way they handled the situation was beyond unacceptable. The waitress looked at it & stated it was part of a vegetable. My husband & I clearly noted that it was indeed a cockroach because of its antennas & pincer like rear end. The waitress gave a very unenthusiastic apology & stated she would tell the owner/chef. There were no further apologies, not even an offer to deduct my half eaten meal off the bill. I was incredibly disappointed as this has been a favorite spot of ours for quite some time but I will not be returning. Any establishment that cares so little about the experience their customers have & won't be bothered to come up with a way to rectify the issue (or at least offer up an apology) is not an establishment we want to support. :(

Clean, fast service. Love the sushi, price is in the mid range but in the area it's in that's the norm. Good quality- I usually show up around 2pm on a weekday and it's empty which is really nice!

I am so happy to find this place again!! They used to be located on Kendall and 107 and moved from that location here. It's a smaller and more intimate place as the last place they were in always looked empty which I never understood because the prices are GREAT and the food is fantastic! I used to go there at least twice a week! I'm really happy to say they have not changed! Yesterday I ordered a blue island, a fried fish roll and gyoza. I was in heaven again! Their food is fresh, the place is clean, the ambiance is pretty and relaxed and the service is great! I will most definitely be coming back regularly!

With so many great sushi options in the area, it's hard to justify coming here. The prices are fine. But the quality and balance left a lot to be desired. The rice was too sticky and there was too much. The seaweed was chewy. The selection leaves a lot to be desired, too. So so many of the rolls involved something being deep fried. If that's your thing, it seems to be the best bet. The shrimp tempura roll we had was perfectly fine. All of the options with just raw fish and vegetables were off-balance. Odd texture combinations between the fish and vegetables or different kinds of fish. A test of good sushi is a balance of simplicity and complexity: it was just all over the place here. Importantly, the fish was not cut properly. Each piece was inconsistent throughout the roll and even within a piece you could tell the slices were not cut right. Service was also...off. The waitress seemed like we were breaking her heart if we asked for a beverage. When we couldn't finish one piece of one of the rolls, she harshly questioned us why. We were full and it was the least appetizing roll we got. She kept asking us to finish it and we kept declining. Just not our jam. Sorry.

The part of me that wants this place to survive is just barely holding at bay the part of me that wants this place to get no attention at all and be our little secret. This is up there with some of the best food in all of Miami. Fresh, quality stuff. We are very picky and we were very surprised. I'd put this on par with, or above, the local competition for sure. (Though I'd be remiss if I didn't also say that expectations were quite low) Favorite thing: The Tuna Sandwich. Brilliant: layer of rice, firm and sticky, a piece of seaweed, another layer of rice, a layer of spicy tuna (mayo, not Kimchi), another layer of rice, another piece of seaweed and a final layer of rice, cut into little triangles, like a sandwich with the crust cut off. It was phenomenal and deceptively filling. Ramen was good, a little clumpy in spots, but the egg was clearly fresh, the broth was not too salty, and the chicken was well cooked. Ambience is nothing special; low key, strip mall sushi place that doesn't really give two poops. My wife got a Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box. No complaints... so, in other words, it was a box of miracles. I don't want to oversell it. A more discerning palate might have another perspective, but we'll certainly be going back.

Friday Sushi at Sushin is a staple in our household. The sushi is fresh and delicious, the shrimp fried rice has that smoky goodness flavor, and they have this huge seafood soup that's incredible! It's around $12 but it's a meal in it of itself, just Wow! Try the Dragon boat combo, it's what my husband & I share every time. Highly recommended!

Went for a late lunch on my Monday off. You have no idea (or maybe you do!) on how wonderful it is to have a Monday off that's not a holiday. Well, for the ambience: little hole in the wall with dark decor and little wooden tables with chairs that wobble due to the uneven floor (a little uncomfortable). The service was ok, and I'm really big on service, but I'll get to that. Me and my oldest ordered the dragon boat. It had 32 pieces and came with appetizer (we chose rangoons) and dessert (donuts with ice cream). The sushi was just ok; I had really expected to be wowed due to the great reviews, however, I was not. I've had better. My baby had another roll i cant recall and it was also just ok (no fireworks). The rangoons were not what I expected and had a couple but they didn't wow me either (I wouldn't order them again). The donuts were very good. They were served with ice cream and an icing that you poured onto them. But we didn't get extra plates to put them on so it got messy. My gripe with the service: asked for water and didn't get it. I asked a 2nd time. When we were done eating, we had about 8 pieces left that i wanted to take home for later. the server brings a tiny box and when i asked for another one she got snappy and grabbed my chopsticks and proceeded to shove my pieces (dropping some on the table in the process), into the little box. i was pissed. come on, i spent 70 bucks for 3 people on a day that the place was empty and you can't splurge on a bigger takeout box? or give me 2? that really ticked me off. Will I go back? Maybe. The menu is extensive and they have so many rolls. But that server...

My first time going tonight. Small place, not the greatest looking place, but clean. I sat at the bar. Service was good. There was only one sushi chef running the kitchen, but we did not wait too long for our food. The sushi chef was nice, asked us how our food was. I ordered the Chirashi, a mixed assortment of sashimi on a bed of rice. The portion was very generous. Very good. Very filling. The sushi chef even prepared a complimentary dessert for us. The waitress was very helpful and nice. I will be eating here again in the near future.

Sashimi is ok if you know how to pick the nicer cleaner cuts. Price is not bad if you eat sahimi and sushi. Get filled with fried, breaded stuff, and you waisted your money. I went to POC asian at the miracle mile in coral gable after drafting this review with 3 stars. Dinner buffet at POC was amazing compared to here and just for 2 or 3 more dollars per person. It was a 5 star, setting a higher standard and pushing sushin down to 2 stars.

AMAZINGG!!! Definitely worth the bang for the buck. My favorite is the Dragon boat combo, that runs for about 30.00 and it comes with 2 Dragon Rolls, 2 JB Rolls, 2 Tuna Rolls, choice of Crab rangoons or Edamame for appetizer and choice of Thai donuts or Tempura Ice cream. Cant beat that!! =) Fish is always fresh, definitely miss the old location because it had the cool sitting on the floor. But still the food quality is superb. You wont be disappointed. PS. I don't know what he puts in his tempura batter but every time I try the shrimp tempura or vegetable tempura the batter is just perfect and Crunchy and NEVER oily. Also try the red bean tempura ice cream! MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH!! =)

We love Shushin! Their original location was nice but their new place is cute, too. We've been coming to Sushin for delicious and reasonably-priced sushi for quite a while and have never been disappointed. The owner and waitstaff are very friendly, and it's always a joy to eat there. Try the Miami roll if you like a savory & crunchy roll, or the Mexican roll if you like a little spiciness with your sushi! P.S. They have a "happy hour" from 4:30-6:30 Mondays-Thursdays during which you can get certain rolls for $3.99! Love this place!

I've been to this place a few times, at their previous location in Kendall. I have yet to check them out at their new location, but the owners/staff hasn't changed (from what I've heard), so, my review should still hold useful. With that said, here's my opinion. First off, the best thing about Sushin is the value. Very decent prices, and you get a LOT of food (I can barely finish a bento box, it's really filling.) I don't claim to be an expert on Japanese food, so I can't say how "authentic" it is -- but, what I've tried was tasty, so, there's that. My go-to when I frequented this place was the sashimi bento box. Really good! The atmosphere is quiet and serene, very relaxing. At least in the old Kendall location, it reminded me of those scenes from summer festivals at night with the paper lanterns. A bit "cliche" when it comes to a Japanese place, but, hey, it works. It's really cute, specially the little sealed-off room near the back for larger parties, where you can sit down at a traditional-style table (remember to take off your shoes if you use that table/room!) Service was good (waiter came by a few times, without being called, to ask if we needed anything.) An absolutely wonderful experience, I would definitely recommended this place.

Su Shin is sort of a well-kept secret here in Kendall. It has changed owners several times over the past 10 years, but the quality and variety of the food has little changed in all that time. I love to come here with my girlfriends during the week to sit on the floor in the back room and chill out with sushi and sake (available hot or cold). It's also my go-to place for take-out sushi when we're going to eat at home. There are a few kid-friendly items on the menu, notably chicken katsu and french fries, which serves perfectly as chicken figers as far as my kids are concerned. I'm only giving Su Shin three stars because the food has never "wowed" me, though it is consistenly good. Also, the decor and furnishings have not been upgraded or refreshed (to my knowledge) since I started eating here in 1997. Two menu items that I do almost always get because they are not available anywhere else are the beef youke (spicy raw ground beef) and the "tuna sandwich" roll, which is not a roll at all, but rather looks like a tuna sandwich on white bread that is cut into four triangles with the crust cut off. The white bread is, or course, sticky rice, but the presentation and flavor of this roll is outstanding and I love its quirkiness.

I can see where people might get irritated by the slow staff cause these people really are moving slow. But i went on a day that was pretty much empty so I didn't have it so bad. I thought the sushi was excellent. I will go back again :)

Been a fan of this restaurant since their original location on Kendall drive. They know my family by name! Their wonton soup is pretty darn good. You MUST have the fried icecream!

This place is amazing. I love their food. And the service is always great. My boyfriend and I go here all the time. They know our orders by heart but always let us look at a menu incase we want to change it. I love this place!

Delicious! Always fresh and consistent. The chef is always on top of his game and is generous with his servings.

Great Sushi and Excellent Service. Make a reservation is a plus to avoid long waiting periods for a table.

Sorry.

Very relaxing & small restaurant. Will definitely be returning. The Octopus Sunomono is a must-have. Service was great, the food was excellent, & I loved the atmosphere.

Highly recommended!

the food is ok, the services is slow and little to no communication. would not be my first pick but its ok for the money.

CLOSED. They're going to open a 100 Montaditos in this location! I absolutely loved this place. Delicious and cheap sushi like 5 minutes from my apartment. So sad :(

I have had sushi all over Miami and have come to love a handful of restaurants that consistently serve fresh sushi. This place is one of them.

Pretty new place at the end of the BJ's shopping center on Sunset and 117, albeit much smaller. Same menu and friendly service. Good Japanese food.

Been here quite a few times and the food never disappoints. My go-to neighborhood sushi place and the prices are cheaper than most sushi places. When I place to-go orders, ready almost immediately.

Just lovely. Very fresh and delicious plates. I had my first experience with raw slices of tuna a was amazed by it's taste! A must for beginners and experienced sushi lovers. I am a convert.

Pretty good hole in the wall sushi place. Had a volcano roll and it was filling and tasted great! Most likely going back again. Heard the ninja roll was amazing too.

This is a cool little spot with great food that I hope stays just the way it is and doesn't become too popular.

Fresh Sushi at good price. Not the best I have had in the area but its up there.
