This is the spot for morning smiles and jokes. They have a father son dou (regulars). The food is always good and a very good deal and it comes with a drink. They offer discounts to school board employees, students and county workers.

Another hidden gem that I have to expose, this place serves home style food from breakfast to lunch and if you choose to come here - your taste buds will Thank You! This place has been serving hearty soul food since 1956 and sits directly in front of the North Campus for Miami Dade College on NW 27th Ave, although the name of this business has the wording of "drive in" you should expect much more... You order from a central area (an open bar layout) but there is an outside seating (pretty large) area that is covered if you wish to enjoy your selections! The service is good and the employees seem happy to help with anything asked and are always wearing a smile! In my times coming here, it seems that they have many regulars as many people just walk up and the cashier will automatically say outloud what they going to ask for! This place is well known and specializes in root beer as apparently this was a previous A&W root beer warehouse and they are continuing the tradition by adding eating items. You can taste the difference in this root beer compared to something you would just purchase at the grocery store... The root beer is really tasty, has that natural foam and a burst of vanilla flavor (a must try)! I usually get the smoked sausage with grits and eggs, it's never greasy and is packed with flavor, let's just say I never ask to pass the salt or pepper - I'm able to dive right in! The quality is present and the quantity given will leave you full for awhile, you'll also be pleased to see or be given a complimentary shot (due to the size of the cup) of orange juice! Please note that they only accept cash (I wish they would take the cards). Overall, if your in the area and just want some great food with good quality, you should stop by, let your taste buds roll and smile as you walk or drive away... I know I do!

This place is a gem. There are few places in Miami where you can get a home cooked breakfast. I've been eating here for years. As silly as it seems, what turns me off from the typical Denny's & IHOP is the fact that I can taste the oil in my food; which is a turnoff, at Rootbeer I don't have that problem. For what's it's worth, give this place a try. Service is swift and courteous while the food is excellent!

Great breakfast and the prices are amazing.... And the best sweet tea ever never tried the root beer but I hear it's great...

This place is awesome! Great onion rings and they serve root beer in a frozen beer cup that's amazing. My favorite thing to get here is steak with peppers mushrooms and grilled onions.

Root Beer Drive-In (RBDI) was a total Yelp find for me on a recent trip to a paint store in Opa Locka. It's not a part of the city I've been to much, if ever, and it may be years until I'm back, but when I do the trip will definitely include another meal here. According to the menu, RBDI has been operating since the 1950s! Pretty incredible that this local gem was serving up diner fare when greasers were "driving in" in hot rods, and my parents were kids. I had to have the signature homemade ROOT BEER: you could taste the love. It almost tasted like a root beer float, it was so creamy and full of vanilla flavor. I asked if they sell it to take-away, and was told the largest size is the 32oz large, though my very helpful server said I would be welcome to bring in a container (like the growlers you fill at a BEER-beer brewery). I am seriously considering this as a basis for making a future trip to Opa Locka. Seating is all outside, either at a bar area or some covered picnic tables. Fortunately my visit was during the couple of weeks of the year in Miami where the humidity is zero and it was the perfect day to be outside. The STEAK SUB (a/k/a grinder, a/k/a hoagie) I ordered for an early 11am lunch was solid: large fresh bun, chock-full of juicy beef, and served with the aforementioned drink and some good onion rings for about $10 even (note: Cash only! and I had exactly $10). When I come again (with my container to fill with root beer), I'll try a PATTY MELT because I think this is the kind of place that would do it right. The server was very friendly, brought out my order when ready, gave me a refill on the drink and answered all my questions about that amazing root beer.

I order a root beer float with vanilla ice cream and it was great ! the server also gave us a small cup of more root beer to pour in half way, to get more flavor. I didnt try the food but it looks like your average sports stadium food. Try the Root beer floats !

Excellent hospitality from the lady working out front; good customer skills goes a long way. The food was edible but nothing to write about except for the root beer exceptionally tasty. Overall experience okay if you're hungry and in the area; nothing to drive across town for.

I was at the car registration place next door and saw this place. It is a walk up order ki nd of place with sit down outside or take away. The service was very courteous and fast. I had the Philly cheesesteak loaded with french fries. The Philly was only $6.95 with an extra $1.50 for the fries and drink. Great deal. The Philly was loaded with meat, which is rare anymore, and it was delicious. The fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.
