I love, love, love Rigatti Cafe! I can't say it enough! Went back today for lunch and had the special of Pear & Cheese Fiocchi with a 4 cheese sauce. Fiocchi are little pasta pouches filled with goodness, in this case, pear and cheese. This dish is very similar to Perricone's Fiocchi with Pear and Gorgonzola, but much more mild. Their specials come with a soup or salad. I chose the salad, a fresh mix of greens, tomatoes, onion and shredded carrot. You can't beat the quality of the food for the price. $11 for my amazing pasta & salad! Make sure to ask for extra garlic bread to soak up the sauce.

I went to this fantastic downtown restaurant with my brothers girlfriend a few years ago. I remember I had the penne pasta with arrabiata sauce because it is now what I compare others too when I have ordered it elsewhere! This past week, I was scouting out a venue for my sister-in-law's wedding and I realized we were in the area so I suggested we check Rigatti's Cafe out for lunch. I'm so glad the girls said yes! It's not very big but it's very cozy and has a NYC kind of vibe to it. You can go with a small group on your lunch hour...the service is great and the food comes in good time. It was a hard decision because everything looked so good but this time I ordered the grilled mahi sandwich. It's very simple with red onion, tomato and sliced avocado...just delicious. My Sister-in-law ordered a sandwich with proscitto and cheese that she said was amazing and we both loved our fries. My mother in law ordered smoked salmon since she didn't want to eat too heavy and she said it was "esquisito" which is exquisite in spanish. Since we were celebrating finding and securing the wedding venue we ordered a tiramisu and a brownie to split between the three of us. The tiramisu is OUT OF THIS WORLD and it is a very very very generous serving! The brownie, served hot, was oh so good and was also enough that I was able to bring half of it home for my husband. We capped off our girls day out lunch with an expresso. I definately recommend Rigatti's if you're downtown for lunch!

DOWNTOWN LUNCH SPOT Lunch business is no doubt competitive as hell especially for downtown. Fast delivery, friendly accurate service with a smile, good value and comfortable seating is always the expectation. In nearly every instance, a feature or so would be lacking... if you find an excuse to come back, it's something intrinsic that warms your soul or heart. Rigatti is busy like dining on a crowed gondola. The good and caring nature of the staff who delivers wonderful homemade like meals that makes you forget the surrounding tight quarters. Lunch specials are slightly higher but doesn't supplant the excellent quality and value. Let's just say you'll leave full and satisfied. Oh yes, it's Italian cuisine prepared by a very Peruvian kitchen. So a papa frita might show up here and there. LoL

Telling by the daily lunch time business crowd, Rigatti's is a local favorite for the near by workers. I myself came here after a recommendation by co-workers in the nearby court. The service is polite and prompt. The atmosphere is comfortable, family, and relaxed. They know how to turn the tables and get the food out fast for the lunch crowd. I've only ever had the chicken marsala dish with linguini. It is absolutely delicious. My only compliant and reason for 4 and not 5 stars is the portions size. For the price, $11, the plate should be bigger. Although I suppose its the perfect portion if you want to feel fed but not full. That being said, the taste has been enough to bring me back multiple times despite my disappointment with the portion size.

I'm in Miami for the week and since I really enjoy eating at local places, I thought "what better time to try something new?" I came across Rigatti's today while looking for another place that I found on the internet. I decided that since I was already here and it was insanely hot outside, I'd just give it a shot. It's a very small place in a busy area; there are about 15 tables total. When you walk in, you are instantly greeted by the staff who are all extremely friendly. I was seated immediately, despite having arived 10 minutes after the lunch rush started which was a relief because I was starving. It was a bit of a tight fit since the tables are pretty close together, but it wasn't uncomfortable or crammed at all. I ordered the hot veggie sandwich and a side salad. First the bread came out which was just delicious, but just a little chewy. It tasted like garlic bread with a nice touch of oil. Then within about 5-10 minutes I had my order on the table. It was incredibly quick which is perfect for the business-person looking to sneak a sit-down lunch during their break. When I got the sandwich, the vegetables were all cooked very nicely and tasted fresh. It could have used a little more substance - maybe some more squash and veggies, but it still tasted really good. I imagine their other dishes are probably amazing, but I was hoping to avoid too many carbs and opted out of everything else... ultimately it was the garlic bread that really got me though. I ate 3 pieces of it before I finally asked them to take the basket away. The staff was friendly and I never felt unattended, the food was delicious, and it came out quick. Rigatti's is definitely worth the stop if you're in the neighborhood.

Working in Downtown one gets to sample a wide array of foods that just aren't available to most Miamians. Why, you ask? Because most of these places shut down after 5pm and on weekends. It's quite sad actually. Miami's Downtown is a bustling commercial district by day and ghost town by night (although it's getting better). Rigatti's is one of those places that i'd never have stumbled upon if I didn't work in Downtown. One of my colleagues had been talking this place up for months and we finally got to pay them a visit a few weeks ago. Both times i've been there i'veI had their soup & salad lunch special as i'm a creature of habit and both days it was quite chilly outside. The first time I had their Greek salad with grilled chicken and their creamy tomato soup. The veggies were fresh and the chicken was perfectly grilled and not at all bland or dry. The soup was WONDERFUL! I loved it, and i'm not really a soup person. The second time I had the same salad with their minestrone soup because they didn't have the tomato soup that day. The minestrone was good, but not as good as the tomato. The salad was just was as great! The service at Rigatti's is quick and efficient. The staff is very friendly and the joint is a pleasure to patronize. The only drawback is that the place is quite small, so if you get there at 12:20pm you won't be getting a table. So, get there early & enjoy!

I will begin this review with a caveat. I love Rigatti's like a member of my own family and, therefore, this review may be biased. My wife and I eat lunch here so often that it has become as familiar to us as our own dining room. Judging from the number of other regulars we see there on any given day, we are not alone. At first, what kept us coming back to Rigatti's was the food. It's comforting and delicious. The mainly Southern Italian menu offers enough variety to prevent boredom and includes decadent entrees like lasagna and chicken parmagiano alongside light and fresh salads and sandwiches. Two daily specials supplement the menu, and include a soup or a side salad. Some of the daily specials, like Wednesday's grilled steak and fries or Thursday's meatloaf, have their own fans who come to Rigatti's specifically for that day's special. Freddy, Rigatti's loveable owner, is quick to point out that the chef can make any special on any day, upon request. My favorite off-menu specials are the fish pizzaolo and the pear and gorgonzola fiochi. What turned us from occasional customers to full fledged regulars, though, is Rigatti's homey atmosphere and the people who work there. Freddy and his lovely daughter Carina know most of Rigatti's customers by name and vice versa. They couldn't be more welcoming. My week just doesn't feel complete without a visit to this wonderful place. I absolutely recommend it!

This place is so good! Delicious food, great staff, very nice & never rude. I go here during my lunch as well as all my coworkers from the firm I work at. It's a tiny hole in the wall but such good food. Their lunch deal is filling and good portions. They do get busy and they are kind of cramped, they deliver (two thumbs up) but call ahead to see how busy they are. all in all, great place!

I took advantage of my day off and visited my girls for lunch since they were stuck at work... so we walked over to Rigatti's. We were greeted by a friendly waitress and after mulling over the menu and specials for a few minutes made our choices. I had the chicken melt... mmm... Chicken breast, cheddar cheese, tomato and basil. This seems like a really cool spot for lunch any day of the week, I also thought it was nice that they offer breakfast and free delivery since I'm sure not everyone in downtown wants to leave the office to have a decent meal. If I worked downtown I think this would definitely have the potential to become a regular on my lunch list.

It's a charming mom and pop restaurant located in downtown Miami. The mahi sandwich I ordered was fresh, well seasoned with enough accompaniments to compliment the fresh piece of mahi but not overpower it. Service is great. Support your mom and pops!

I work in downtown and I'm always looking for a new place to eat. Found this on yelp and tried it today and it was really good. I had the lunch special salad and soup, lentil soup with the grilled vegetable salad with goat cheese. Service and prices were great. I will definitely be putting this place on my weekly lunch rotation. Excited to go try more things since everything sounded so good.

Yum Yum Yum! I have been going here for years and am a HUGE FAN! Put it this way, I have had days where all three meals come from Rigatti's kitchen. Best part about this place is that portions are HUGE! (Second best part - it isn't expensive.) So, where to start? I suppose the logical start is breakfast. Seeing as how I am usually running late, I order my breakfast for delivery. Lately, with the weather being chilly, I have opted to have hot chocolates and lattes, but once it warms up again I will return to my usual fresh-squeezed orange juice. As for what to have, I mix it up... Eggs, pancakes, bagels, muffins, you name it, - they make it. And, not to steal some other place's slogan, but you can really have it your way! You want cheese? What kind of cheese? You want sausage, bacon and ham - no problem! You want some sliced tomatoes on the side of your egg white omelet? You got it! To my husband's dismay, I have become spoiled by their accommodating nature... And this doesn't change for lunch. The place is your typical neighborhood Italian joint. Nothing fancy about it - no white table cloths, no snooty service, no b.s. -just great homemade food at great, non-fancy prices. You have a good selection of salads, to which you can add or take away anything you please. My favorite salad is the Grilled Veggie - grilled yellow squash, zucchini and eggplant with a scoop of goat cheese over greens. They make their own dressings, and the creamy balsamic vinaigrette is perfect with this salad. I usually add some grilled chicken breast to it, smear the goat cheese onto the chicken, dip it in dressing, and stack it with greens to make forkfuls of deliciousness. Add a cup of soup and life is perfect! (Creamy Tomato soup on Fridays is the BEST SOUP EVER!) As for the sandwiches, I love the Skirt Steak sandwich best. I am pretty sure the owner is the guy who runs the front of the house. He's Argentine, and this shows through in the juicy skirt steak! (Oh, add some steak to the top of a Caesar salad and you are so set! A waitress suggested that when I was undecided between the two one day and I have had it that way ever since!) What would an Italian place be without pasta? Again, you pick what kind of noodle you want, what sauce you want and what you want in it. Adding shrimp to the Primavera pasta was a genius move on my part. I recommend taking home some spaghetti and meatballs; they reheat nicely and serve two (hungry people) easily! There are daily specials: a soup, as I had mentioned before, an entrée, and a pasta dish. I have figured out only a part of the schedule thus far, and that is that Thursday is Meatloaf Day. This is not your mom's dry block of meatloaf! (Sorry Ma.) This is yummy in your tummy, gravy-covered with creamy mash, meatloaf. This special runs out quickly, so I ask them to save me a piece when I order my breakfast. For dessert, if you have room for it, I recommend the tiramisu. They make it right on site, and it is fantastic. Not at all heavy, actually quite light, creamy and coffee-y. They know that the Downtown business crowd is in a hurry, so they make sure the service is quick enough to have lunch within an hour. I have to warn, as did another Yelper, come early, or risk not getting a seat.

I dropped in to Rigatti's for lunch with the W. After 1:30 pm, it was not crowded. I had the Tortellini Alfredo which was excellent. The W ordered Pasta with Olive Oil and Cheese. This is a classic Italian joint that you might find in the Little Italy sections of most larger cities. The pasta was perfectly prepared al dente and you can order your pasta with any sauce or type of pasta. Unfortunately, they are only open for lunch!

I really can't complain about the lunch selection in downtown Miami. If you are in the area do yourself a favor and don't just stop at the first hot dog cart selling pastelitos and week old dogs, head to Rigatti's for some honest, fast and friendly Italian. Even on the most humid Miami summer days I would sweat it out in my polyester work clothes and walk the 3 blocks to Rigatti's for a hot lunch. They have a great selection of sandwiches, pastas and salads. Pretty basic Italian fare with a few hamburger type of items as well. I love that they will hold or add just about any ingredient to your dish- they aren't afraid of special orders. The pre-meal garlic bread is great, and the staff is super friendly, always greeting you with a "hello sweetie". If soup is your thing call ahead to see what the daily specials are, usually anything with "cream" in the name is great at Rigatti's. My only complaints: this isn't a great lunch place if you are running tight on time, during the 12:30 popular lunch spot you can expect to wait a few minutes. Also, as someone often downs a big gulp of diet coke before even getting out of bed, those cute little glass bottles they give you really don't cut it- especially with all of the salt and garlic going on with the food. Unlimited soda refills please.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
