I really enjoyed their lunch menu. The portions are generous and the price is perfect! Service was excellent and the entire staff was very accommodating and attentive. I loved their Thai Tea and their desserts! I want to try their dinner menu but lunch is s winner in my book.

I love the food (lunch specials) when eating there. Cost of lunch specials is good and they have good options (-10% off for LA Fitness members too!). I would give this 5 starts if they were to work on bettering take-out foods. I have ordered take out 2x and food has been terrible (pad Thai tasteless and so was the special fried rice). The sushi rolls I have always enjoyed, so main issue for me the the Thai part of their meals. Not sure if they have a different chef working in take out orders or what not. Overall: I would suggest eating here.... just not a big fan of the recipes they use for Thai meals. Service has been good at the times I have visited (non-peak).

The Tom Yum soup was fabulous.Really great. But the waiter served the wrong soup to each of the two diners. Did'nt figure it out until too late as we had both had ordered Tom yum soups. The smell of "SImple Green" ( a cleaning solution) was coming from the kitchen-NOT GOOD. My "Tigers Tears" were WAY over seasoned. The drinks we ordered when the food arrived never showed up until too late. I wanted the wine with my dinner, not after my dinner.

I've only tried a few things from this place and they're all just so delicious! Let's begin with the That Fried Rice, ever since I tried this rice I no longer like Chinese fried rice. This rice is made with onions, chicken, tomatoes, and egg, it's one plate I always get. I recently tried their chicken Pad Thai and that's really good too! And as an appetizer I always order fried Gyozas but that's more my fiancé who's obsessed. These are the only things I've ever ordered because I'm in love with them all therefore, if it's your first time you must try the rice!

Love the four seasons roll and Pad Woon Sen was perfect. The Tom yum lay is delicious! The only reason I don't give it five stars is because service is slow. They may have been understaffed Again.

I guess they don't know how to cook fried calamari... It's always over cooked. I don't know why I I keep giving them a chance. No more calamari for me.

Delicious food, great service. Never seems to disappoint me. I definitely recommend the pad won sen it's a noodle dish and it is full of taste! Nice relaxing music, dim lighting, nice ambience and last but not least, beautiful decor! Makes you feel like you are in Japan !

Mostly young people for happy hour, there are some Chinese buffets with better food. There are not many dining choices in this area so they get away serving inedible food. The dumplings were still frozen, hard balls of saw dust compressed into a rope texture. The mojito was undrinkable, Thai donuts still frozen chunks of inedible dough. Fried ice cream a ball of inedible dough with medicine tasting ice cream. Draft Heineken was flat and watered down. Sashimi came over a bed of ice which made the fish too cold to taste it, no flavor same unpleasant texture. Mostly everything tasted like sun dried straw or dry agave fibers.

First time trying Moon. I love the set up of the restaurant it was really cool and laid back. The food was great..the best fried rice I've ever had. The drinks weren't overpriced and they definitely had a kick. The staff was really nice also. Definitely going back!

I love this place. My fiance and I are regulars and very much enjoy their happy hour which is from 5-8pm everyday of the week. I recommend ordering their lychee martini, you will not be disappointed. Chicken Pad-thai is excellent and so is their coconut pene. They're sushimi is also fresh. We've seen this restaurant transform within the last couple of years and i'm not too pleased with the current arrangement however, their service is friendly and their food is great.

  • Dorothea P.

There was only one waiter for the whole restaurant. So everything from ordering to getting refills took forever! Then when we finally got our food the fried rice tasted burned ironic I know it took forever to speak to the manager. When they sent us the new one it was good but it wasn't worth all the trouble.

Definitely recommend coming here. Best part it's in Kendall which is in our backyard. Great customer service, and the food was good a well! Another plus was the 2 different menus for each type of food. Loved the fact that they help you when it's your first time and recommend the best dishes for your taste buds! Definitely going to make this our go to spot for date nights

  • Lissette L.

I've been coming to this restaurant since the day it opened. This is the best chic/ambiance restaurant you'll find in West Kendall. They have the two menu options of Thai and Japanese food and they offer a happy hour from 5-8pm. The lychee martini is the best! I have ordered from both menus and all their food tastes great and fresh plus you have a variety of dishes on both. They also have a full bar and tv's are usually tuned to sports. If you are in the area this is a restaurant to try!

We eat here a lot because of the location with most of orders to go. I used to be happy with the consistency of the food served (because I am one to order exactly the same rolls and salad each time). But recently the prices went up and the quality went down. Each time I order the dish comes differently. For example, I order the sashimi salad and some times it comes with more fish than others. Disappointed, I expect more especially because how much they charge. Looking for a new sushi spot!

  • Janis A.

Amazing and fast service! This location is great. The food is a good price and delicious. If you like spicy food this is the spot to go too. Basil fried rice or pad Thai is my recommendation

  • Lauren D.

The sushi is good, but in typical Miami fashion, it's overpriced. I definitely suggest going during their happy hour. They don't have sushi on special, but certain drinks and appetizers are discounted which helps the wallet. They definitely get points for presentation though!

  • Stephanie P.

Love this place lunch specials are great. The atmosphere itself is very chill. you don't have to fight with other people to listen to the conversation at your table. Very clean even there food presentation is on point. Celebrated best friends birthday and she was happy.

Female Manager tonight did not take care of the customer needs and it would have gone a long way. Tonight my boyfriend and I ordered delivery at Moon and confirmed twice with the waitress that we would get the Coconut milk soup, but it came as a sweet and sour. Then we called but she sent it the second time with no spice. An hour and a half later. Must have been too busy tonight and they couldn't keep up. For all that inconvenience, on Valentine's Day, a restaurant should throw in something to make it right, or at least take care of the soup because of the error.

Overpriced chain restaurant. This company restaurants have two menus, Thai and Japanese. We had been there two times and had only ordered Thai. The food is ok. Soups are standard asian themed restaurant. Mushrooms in the soup were rancid. We told the waiter and the guy walked away as if nothing had happened. $ 24.00 dollars for a small portion of over over roasted duck. Lame wine list. $ 25.00 for a Los Vascos Bottle ($ 4.99 at next door Sedano's). Expresso coffee arrived cold, I mean cold. Once again we told the waiter and after 10 minutes the guy brought two overfilled cups of americano coffee in an expresso cup. He told us that the expresso machine was older than he. $ 6.00 dollars to the garbagge. There are much better and honest options just a short drive east.

I'm not even sure if what they served me was chicken smelled foul and I had to remove it from my plate. Coconut shrimp was amazing would only order that for take out. Waitress was awkward with us definitely not warm or welcoming and she dropped my left overs and never informed me when I had asked for it to go she just didn't give me any of my food to go at all. If she didn't want to replace her own mistake fine I wasn't that crazy about taking it home but at least communicate what happen to the customer.

So i was feening for some Thai food and i hopped on Yelp. I see the name of a restaurant I've always seen while going to Home Depot. Its a Friday night and i wanted somewhere i can take the kids, wife, have a drink and enjoy some food. So sure why not this place, review look good, picture of the food looks yummy lets give it a go. So, Friday night we walk in, decently packed but they sat us down right away. Hostess told us it was happy hr and gave us the menu. WOW $3 for draft beer and $7 for apps, count be in. We order the ROK Shrimp and my wife orders a sushi something. Comes out in a good amount of time, and very tasty. Then wife orders a seafood soup and i order the Chicken stir fry. So we look at the time and we notice happy hr is about to end, so what does every Cuban do; double up on the drinks. So we order them with the manager cause our poor waitress was bobbing around the restaurant waiting on tables half way across the room. So, about 5mins after 8 she comes with one beer and tells us "Dont worry i was able to put them both in before happy hr, just let me know when you want the next one and i'll bring it to you" BOOM now thats what i call service. She brings my wife's soup, looks and smells great, then comes my place. Ok, i'm a stickler for food. The chicken was kinda bland (tasted like something out of Costco) but the saving grace was the veggies. Mixed with w/e sauce they had it was great. Now why give it so many stars. Let me be honest, i went on the recommendation of the waitress but every dish i saw come out of the kitchen, looked and smelled amazing. So, maybe i just ordered the wrong dish. So, i will definitely give it a 2nd, 3rd and maybe 4th chance. Service:Could have been better but overlooked Food: Strong B+ Atmosphere: B ( trendy) Price: A Overall experience: B

This has to be hands down the best quality and priced sushi in Kendall. The sushi bar staff are Great, Ray, Jeff as they like to be called, their "American" names, great guys and even during the rush, will make you feel like a king. The only concern is drinking non happy hours can get quite pricey, but the food is amazing. This is a weekly visit where I know I'm always going to have a great meal.

First I have to say that this place has huge potential. Unfortunately, the service was abysmal. We sat at the bar to eat since you can get a good feel for a place by watching the bar staff. This was the first time I was here. The bartender was nothing short of a disaster. She was incapable of functioning as an actual bartender. Wait staff were visibly upset with her and I could overhear them. Her ability to make drinks was a total failure. A second bartender (who once we asked was actually the busboy) was trying to help here and in reality, management should make him a bartender and fire the actual bartender. The Mojito that she made was nothing short of not knowing what she is doing. Let's get to the food. Well, the busboy had to remind her to get us menus. Then she forgot to take our order until she was again reminded to take our order. She turned after taking our order and I said to my friend, "She is not going to remember this". Right on cue, she forgot and had to ask us again since she forgot to place the order. Again, the busboy who should be the bartender saved the day for us. I ordered the Chicken Satay as an app and it was Ok. It is hard to mess this app up since it is just grilled chicken. I will say that they gave a good portion. Again, it was the busboy who actually got our food. I had a clear noodle dish that I asked to be very spicy. Well, it wasn't. The noodles were all clumped together and there was very little taste to it for being a Thai dish. Overall, here is the deal: 1. This bartender should be fired. She was an embarrassment. 2. The busboy should be promoted to bartender. I personally tipped him for his efforts to make our experience a good one. He apologized multiple times. 3. The food was average. I didn't even finish my dish. The ambience and environment is excellent but that's where it ended. Service: Zero stars (except for the busboy who tried very hard to correct the bartenders disaster. He personally gets five stars) Cleanliness and Ambience: Four stars Food: Three stars I doubt very much I will return and I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone else.

Had the sushi / sashimi lunch combo today--the white fish and tuna tasted very "off", very fishy. I've had lots of sushi over the years and I can tell when the fish isn't fresh. The sunomono salad had too much vinegar, it did not quite mask the "off" taste of the seafood floating in it. Waiter told the sushi chef about the bad tasting sushi and his reply was perhaps he used too much vinegar. Not only did he misunderstand the issue, he made no effort to apologize, taste the remaining pieces or offer to reduce the bill. I've tried eating here a few times--not had good dining experiences. The 2 stars are for the cleanliness of the place and cool Art Deco ambience. Hope they work out the food issue.

Nice place for a date. Ultra modern/young/hip/trendy decor. Dark lighting. This place is a sexy, mid-priced Thai/Japanese fusion restaurant. The food is delicious, but slightly overpriced. One might get the feeling that the food prices are a bit high more to cover more of the cost of the ambiance than to cover the cost of the food itself. Still, it's quite a pleasant environment, so perhaps paying a bit more for the full dining experience, not just the food, is indeed well-justified here. Service has always been very friendly and professional. Staff seemed well-trained and kind. Moon Thai & Japanese has what is probably the most chic ambiance/decor of any mid-price restaurant in West Kendall. While located far off in the western suburbs of Miami, the design of the interior is tastefully done and could just as easily be found in any of the trendier Miami neighborhoods closer to downtown. The food here is delicious and as authentically Thai/Japanese as one will find throughout most of Miami-Dade County (with a perhaps a few exceptions). I've never had a dish I didn't like. Definitely worth visiting. I'm a fan.

really nice ambiance. I tried their chicken Pad Thai and Took it to go. It was really good and spicy. My friend got herself some sushi. Price was a bit on the higher end but not very high but it's probably due to the location and how fancy it is. More of a dine in occasion. Recommended it just to try other options as well I would go again.

Sushi Rolls = Biggest Ever Had We visited this place based on the recommendation of another couple. Upon arrival we were promptly greater and seated. It was a bit confusing because they give you two menus and no the hostess does not explain anything to you. Took a little long for the waiter to come, but once he came the service was good. The sushi rolls were large and tasted great. These sushi rolls you have to eat in two bites, no way to easily eat the entire roll in one bite. The cost = not bad for the quality and amount of food you are getting.

I just decided to check this place out for the first time. The place was nice, they have happy hour from 5pm to 8pm. I decided to try their Japanese food and mostly appetizers but they were delicious. The menu has a wide variety of food. :)

Went here with two of my girlfriends last night around 9 pm. Let me start with the place- Very nice and cool atmosphere. Waiters are dressed in asian clothing. Nice decor as well. Service- You walk in and are greeted by the hostess and main manager. Very friendly, our server was very nice and made sure we liked our food. The manager was nice enough to let my friend subsitute her food for a dessert instead. Food- I got the hurricane roll which I didnt like very much. My friend got the playboy roll which was super good! It tasted similar to the crunch roll at bonsai if you have ever had that. Since the place is thai & Japanese there is a large menu with many options which i liked. For a sushi roll, soda and thai donuts it was $17 bucks. Not that bad :) Good place, i would recommend it for a girls night or a date night.

Good news they now deliver! Bad news on a late Sunday night, I was craving Thai iced coffee and Thai doughnuts and called in my order. Yes, it was easy but no it wasn't the best I've ever had. I'm glad they're around and will probably return but with lower expectations.

A friend and I went here for dinner last week and were so happy to 1) have so many vegan options, and 2) be able to have both Japanese and Thai at the same time! The service was prompt and friendly, but Moon really needs to redesign their menus. The server brings each person two menus - one Thai and one Japanese - both of which are the size of an adult's torso. Not only are the menus physically huge, they are really extensive (with a lot of items not being very different from one another), and they are pretty confusing. I found a number of vegetarian items listed in the "noodle" and "rice" sections that weren't listed in the "vegetarian" section, and when I mentioned certain dishes I found in the vegetarian section, the server hadn't heard of them and had to search the menu for it. Too many options! Anyway, the food itself was fantastic. I decided to go with the pad thai with tofu and vegetables (no egg and no fish sauce) and was very impressed. It was one of the best meals I had in Miami! The tofu itself was fried to perfection and I liked that the dish came with "real" vegetables (broccoli, carrots, etc), and not just scallions, bean sprouts, and other toppings some places try to call vegetables. My friend ordered the tofu asparagus, which I thought was pretty good and he thought was great. My reason for thinking it was so-so was that the tofu was medium-soft and sauteed and I prefer very firm and/or fried tofu. The flavor of the dish itself was good. We also ordered a vegetable roll, which wasn't explained very well on the menu so we weren't really sure what to expect. When it came, it was a dried seaweed roll with rice, vegetables and crab. I think they accidentally gave us the crab roll. They then brought one with just veggies, which was better, but still bland. Next time, I think I'll go with either the veggie sushi or spring rolls for an appetizer.

the sushi in this place is superb. Always delicious. The salmon teriyaki is fresh and cooked to perfection. The thai food is delicious. I always get the chicken green curry and for dessert the thai doughnuts. The service is excellent and I have always had an attentive staff.

I have been here a few times, its usually a near place my girlfriends and I go too. Sushi is decent, drinks are cheap, and they have have yummy fried donuts! If you want a reasonable place to go for some local sushi, this is the place. :)

So I found this place when my medical preceptor took me and the rest of the office staff out to lunch on my last day. Why did I not go here for lunch everyday?!!!!! This place is great, they have flat screen tv's everywhere and a huge projector screen for football games. The sushi is not as awesome as "Sushi Bar", but still very good and fresh. The Thia menu is what makes this place amazing. Their Drunken noodles are the best I have ever had!!! Also there spring rolls are very light and not greasy like in most places. Also another thing that I want to try is their happy hour, which looking at the bar menu and prices looks like a great deal. The place is a little bit of a drive out west, but well worth the trip if you are in the mood for some great sushi and Thia food. Enjoy and remember to add the hot sauce that is on the table.

Great lunch specials, although keep in mind that "medium spicy" is really medium-mild, so request a little extra heat if you're into that.

Love this place. The menu is a bit overwhelming so I tend to order the same thing every single time. The peanut dressing is absolutely delicious and the pad thai is oh so yummy. Staff is very friendly and always accommodating to our little ones needs :) great bar also

If the Coral Gables location scared you off, it's ok. This location is the opposite. The sushi is great, the sashimi is on point, and the pad thai is really good. Try the donuts; you'll be glad you did. Service is quick and efficient. I've never had a moody server or even a bad experience here (I've been frequenting for about a year now). The only negative thing I have to say is that it's a too dark for my taste. There isn't enough lighting and in some parts of the restaurant, a candle on your table is the only light you'll have to see your food. Maybe it's all for the ambiance, but when eating with two sticks, light is a must.

Moon has made it to West Kendall! I'm a big fan of the Moon in Coral Gables, so when I saw that they were opening one up in West Kendall I just had to try it. They are located in a new strip mall on Kendall Drive and 163rd Avenue. The service and the food at this location are just as good as they are at the Coral Gables restaurant, but the crowds are much smaller. We were able to get a table at 8pm on a Saturday without having to wait.

I come here regularly with one of my best friends, who is completely addicted to their coconut mojitos. He swears it's the tastiest thing ever. Every time I ask where he wants to go, I always know the answer: Moon Thai. The location is great, and very spacious. It is pretty far west, but then again, so are many of us, and it's nice to have great meal options close to home. My favorite is the Chicken Green Curry. DELICIOUS. The sushi has always been fresh, and the service very pleasant. As a perk, it is located very close to the new LA Fitness, and you see many a good looking body walking by as you enjoy your meal...I like to think of it as: "watching the pretty people go back and forth from their daily prettifying routine" But I digress... If you're in the area, consider this as a great option for delicious Thai, or Japanese food...they have both menus available.

The food is very good here. I like the Thai menu more so than the Japanese. The pad thai is great as is the Tom Yung Geoung soup. I like the fried rice, too. I've been adventurous, too, and tried an item menu called larp and it was very good. I love their California rolls, The service is very good also.

I really try to give places a break, because I don't like to be to critical. However, I'd had sub-par curry here a few times and decided to do a take out for sushi instead. Oh man.. The sushi I had was just odd. There was topping which was supposed to be conch, and I suppose it could have been, but the conch was so chewy, it was difficult to actually eat it. I gave up on the conch, and moved on to a roll that had eel topping. After picking two eel bones out of my mouth, I gave up on the eel too. Score: 2 sushi rolls ordered, 0 rolls fully eaten. When I pick up food, it seems like the people at the counter, who I assume to be the owners, are very nice and interested in making a good place. I hope they read Yelp, because I have some suggestions.

The thai food has been a little inconsistent, but pretty tasty. I especially like some of their "special of the day" soups, but I can never remember their names. Oh, and they seem to only offer them during lunch time. Some of the sushi rolls are pretty good, but there is not enough variety to satisfy my sushi cravings. The best part of this restaurant is the very friendly staff.

We recently ate at Moon on a Tuesday night...it wasn't too busy, so the service was great (we had Joey as our server and he was fantastic!). I wasnt very hungry so I ordered the Pad Thai appetizer and my husband ordered the Geisha sushi platter...my food came out steaming hot and was delicious. It was a generous portion for an appetizer. My husband loved his food...everything tasted very fresh. The two for one drinks are great too! All in all...we'll be going back on a more regular basis. It's nice to have a place like this so close to home!

Finally, a place to grab an amazingly delicious Papaya Salad 5 minutes from my house! Ever since this placed opened I'd been wanting to try it out, since I used to go to the one in the Gables and liked the food. My mom and I went this weekend, and actually I found the food at this location to be tastier than the one in the Gables. This review is going to be a long one :) I'll start with the service. Our waitress was great! My mom wanted to know the ingredients in the Ginger dressing and she had the manager come over to let us know the exact contents. Way to go above and beyond... Other places I've been to would just have someone say the typical "i don't know". 2 points for Moon Thai & Japanese. I ordered a Thai Iced Tea, which is my usual drink of choice whenever I'm at a Thai & Sushi place. They serve it in a big glass, and charge a little less than what I'm used to paying for Thai Iced Tea. It was so good! In my opinion, there's no middle of the road with this drink. People either know how to make it or know how to really mess it up. This place might have the best Thai Iced Tea ever. 2 more points for Moon. For my meal I ordered a Papaya Salad and an eel roll, but I would have been better off just ordering the papaya salad. I ordered 2 things because whenever I order Papaya Salad I'm used to getting a pretty small portion. OH. MY. GOD. This Papaya Salad was a monster of a dish! And what a tasty monster it was. Best Papaya Salad I've tried, hands down. It was so fresh and perfectly marinated! The presentation was also beautiful- they serve it in the kind of way where you're almost sad you're ruining the chef's work...soo pretty! By the time my eel roll came around, I was way too full from the papaya salad to even finish it. But I did give it a shot and it was pretty good. Next time I'll just order sushi so I have enough room to fully enjoy it! My mom ordered the Teriyaki lunch special. I stole a little bit from her plate just to try the different flavors, and I was glad I did. A lot of places that do teriyaki have a generic flavor to their teriyaki dishes, but this one didn't. The sauce tasted homemade and healthy, and the chicken tasted like it was cooked on the grill. If not for my love of sushi and papaya salad, I'd have this dish next time. It's definitely worth trying, although the menu is so big that you could order something new for quite a while before having to order the same thing twice. I haven't been this happy about a new restaurant opening up in my neck of the woods in a long time. I have a feeling I'll be spending quite a bit of my time (and money) here. But both are well spent.

Food is pretty good. Wish the menu wasn't so huge. The food also is in huge portions. So if you are like me and can't eat a lot then sharing is caring.

I've driven past this place a million times it seems and never felt the inclination to enter but my girlfriend finally invited me to go one week night and I was pleasantly surprised by what I found here. The space looked very hip and modern yet welcoming. Very clean and spacious as well. Sat at the sushi bar and were welcomed by really friendly sushi chefs that entertained all night. We started with the seaweed salad which was the down point of the evening as it was a bit slimier than I am used to but everything after that was exceptional. We had squid salad, spicy lover roll, and a crispy or crunchy salmon roll, all delicious. The sake and beer was flowing as well. Overall it was a great experience and am excited to find one more place in Kendall to eat good sushi since there aren't many.

I go here fairly regularly for take out. The food is good, and relatively fast. The vegetable fried rice is definitely above average.

My boyfriend and I came to this place expecting good and traditional Thai food. However, it was a weird mix of Thai and Japanese food. The food was alright. We had a soft shell crab and sushi. The sushi was meh, nothing special. The crab was ok and crunchy, but it was expensive. The service was great. This place gets 2 stars, because the food was disappointing and it was too expensive for the quantity and quality of the food they serve.

Great sushi! I had the playboy roll, even though it was cut a little thin, it was really good. I eat at Stir Moon in Cutler Bay all the time. Same restaurant group. Highly recommend both.

I went there on a Friday night for the first time. The service was good, I found the spacious restaurant a bit too dark, and the food a bit pricy although it was very fresh.

For the last two years, I've been working on broadening my culinary horizons. My boyfriend is quite the adventurous eater and I can't help but feel like I stunt his diverse need for cuisine. So last night I chose Moon for dinner. I had previously had a girls night at their US1 locations so I assumed the food must have been good, no frightening lingering memories. Well perhaps I consumed more sake than food, or maybe the other location is way better but the food was terrible!! To start we ordered the crab rangoon (my favorite) and beef gyoza (they didn't have pork). The waiter though very polite was not exactly fluent in English so the night got off to a slow start, after about 10 minutes I received my wine and a short while later our appetizers came. My first bite into the crab was disappointing, pure cream cheese with slight strings of imitation crab and thinly cut vegetables. And then this hot pink liquid ran down my hand and that was the end of the crab rangoon for me. The gyoza were soggy and not flavor full. Check please, no need for entrees!

Ok Sushi. What we like is that is fresh and not fishy. We've been here more than 3 times. We have not been wowed by their food but never wrong either. We usually order the yokohama roll, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, chicken fried rice and thai donuts. Maybe we should vary our menu, but we are afraid to adventure. Our last visit, 2 wks ago, a friend of mine ordered the avocado tuna salad ... it was great! a little pricey for the size $8 but it was all worth it. She also ordered the pad thai which was good and the salmon sashimi. I have to say that with the new dishes tried we are tempted to try something new next time.

OK, after almost a year (??? has it been that long? Longer?) they seem to be getting better, and they're becoming one of the few culinary island outposts way out here in the taste-forsaken west. The service, as mentioned, is excellent, always smiley-friendly, and alert. They don't get all huffy or PO'ed if you show up with a bunch of noisy kids (with one dressed as a Ballerina, but you didn't hear that from me) and plop down at one of their tables. Speakin' a which; there are few places around where the old folks can have a good and "different" meal (other than your standard issue Cuban/Latin fare), and still keep the 'biters quiet with something they like - Moon's menu is a great example of compromise, and it shows they know their clientele out here. Our latest included one of the specials, which was named "Tropical Fish", and it was excellent - spicy chili sauce around perfectly fried and tender fillet. Just right. Take a look as you come in, there's probably a great special set up right at the counter - I'm payin' more attention to these from now on... The staples are all there - standard Thai/Japanese/Sushi "slashie" stuff, but fresh and well-constructed. Some highlights: Larp. Really nice, love the Pork, nice and limey without being too tart. Yaki Udon, solid and warming. The Pad Ke Mow and Pad See Eiew are fresh and well seasoned. It's here where I see the improvement over time, that they have moved from the serviceable to better than average in prep and presentation. Anything with the Chili Sauce. Volcano anything. Definitely a favorite for me, and not just doused in heat, but a nice sweet tangy flavor. Great. Go for the Thai Hurricane, it's awesome. "Stir Sauce" is the standard stir-fry, with your choice of meats, or vegetables only. Really tasty with sweet undertones, and super fresh. The kids dig the Katsu - occasionally do the Rolls, and sometimes veer off, wobbling into the menu for a surprise item - last time they hogged the Larp, loving it, which is kind of the point - to expose them to something out of the ordinary. My fish-hating oldest daughter now eats Sushi, never thought I's see the day. That's it - a good place to expand your family's taste frontiers! Enjoy...

Eh, nothing to write home about. They do make some awesome Thai Iced tea but the curries and rolls do not follow the same suit. The restaurant does have a great concept of offering both Thai and Japanese cuisine but I have to say that I'm still not a fan of Moon Thai. I've been here about 4 times. I know what you might be thinking... Why do I keep going back if it's so lackluster? Well, sometimes a girl gets hungry and it's literally 2 streets away from my mom's house. ::shrug:: I'm very picky about food tasting like it should. The Thai nor the Japanese food taste authentic to me. So, if you have no idea what any of the entrees are supposed to taste like - you'll find their food palatable. Most of the time I just pick up their Pad Thai because it's probably one of the better dishes they serve here.

Moon over my lunch! Yumm!! Well, I wanted to have some sushi somewhere close to home, so I went on Yelp to check out some places and you guys didn't let me down. The food was delish! I went last Saturday during lunch time. Luckily for me, they had great lunch specials. My meal was inexpensive and I left the place stuffed to capacity! The restaurant is colorful, the service is great, and they had a fully stocked bar - needless to say I'll be coming back real soon.

Went here last night for the first time. I will absolutely be back. The Japanese Bagel Sushi appetizer was VERY fresh! We asked for eel sauce and they brought it very quickly. I had the Volcano Chicken which was a perfect spiciness! The waiter kept my water filled which with spicy food is a must! they opened the door while we were coming in and leaving. The atmosphere is very modern, fun, and the restaurant was very clean. portions were great, had leftovers for lunch today and it was just as good the second time!

On the last day of my Staycation i wanted to go out to lunch to moon and i was soo glad i did. I've been wanting to try moon out for lunch for what seems like forever now, but since i work during the week i never thought i would be able to catch lunch. I was checking out their menu online and noticed that they have lunch specials on Saturday too! When i found this out i knew where i had to be today. Having been to moon in gables area, i already had a good idea of their food, so i took a glance at their lunch menu ready to easily pick out a chicken dish i would like. It took a bit longer since the lunch menu is a small one page menu that has no descriptions. So i found my self having to search through the large moon menu's to find descriptions for each meal that i was interested in. After looking over 3 different menus i was able to decided on the Spring Break Duck . Now unless stated the lunch specials come with white or brown rice, a salad and miso soup. I love their ginger salad dressing but i can pass on the miso soup (not that its bad, im just not a fan of miso soup). My duck came out a minute or so after we finished our salads and it was delicious. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, on top of a small bit of house sauce. My friend had the chicken and asparagus, which i was able to try and it was just as good. Both dishes came out with a nice decorated orange garnish which is fine, but mine also had all this extra garnish that i could have lived without. Too bad i was full from all of that because i was dying to have some of their desserts. Maybe next time ill do an appetizer and dessert run rather than a lunch run. I saw they also have a 5-8 happy hour which might be something ill check out soon.

I went to Moon for a late lunch while visiting a friend who lives near by. The food was really delicious and fresh, and the portions were plentiful. The atmosphere is sophisticated and casual. We were both happy with our meals and the service. Highly recommend Moon!!

I have nothing negative to say about Moon Thai & Japanese. It has a great selection of reasonably priced Thai and Japanese food, whether you're in the mood for sushi, noodles or meat... they have it all. Due to its location, there isn't much traffic, and I've never had to wait to be seated which is a nice rarity in Miami. Their happy hour (5-8PM) is a fantastic deal, and they don't jip you on the alcohol like some other places do. I've eaten here 2 or 3 times already and every time I had a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly and service was beyond excellent. I'll be returning soon again!

Hubby & I decided to try this restaurant as this area has little to choose from in the way of restaurants. We didn't know what to expect but found we were very pleased with the experience. The decor was modern, staff were friendly, tables and restroom were clean. Now for the food: we ordered a shrimp appetizer that was delish, panang and pad thai. Every dish came out nice and hot, ingredients were fresh, and the taste was excellent. We ordered the fried banana for dessert that was soooo yummy.. We are definitely coming back for some sushi and happy hour! So happy we have a good thai & japanese restaurant in west kendall!

West Kendall is no longer considered "the boonies" and has buildings/restaurants popping up all over, Moon Thai being one of them. New to the area but they hire really great, motivated people & (cute people). It's evident upon the first visit. Like Maria A., I too decided to do take out and surprisingly, the service was pretty quick - they did mess up on the order a bit but they were very, very apologetic. The floor manager as well as the rest of the staff, very well dressed and respectful. I appreciate the decor as they tried to make it match the Gables' Moon Thai but also it was nice, refreshing. I like restaurants that have a little flair. Okay - so I gotta tell you, the lunch menu is AWESOME. For instance, you can get a nice-ass size of Pad Thai for $10 which comes with a soup AND salad. Sweet deal. Not convinced? The Sushi, very tasty and also comes with a Salad for about the same price. Really and truly, go during lunch and save for dinner if you must. Quality of the food is not bad - the only thing that might be a problem comes towards the end of the pad thai when it gets a bit too greasy and has an enhanced taste. Kind of overwhelming.

First time and last time customer. Ordered for delivery to my workplace across the street. Service is fast, HOWEVER, the food taste and quality is less than mediocre. In fact, it is horrible. Ordered the dynamite appetizer and it was mainly made of imitation crab with little to no fish. Plus it was not baked on top of a bed of rice. It was overcooked because it was burnt on the edges and dry throughout. The sushi rolls are very ordinary. Nothing special about this place especially for their steep prices. Be careful when ordering for delivery; they tax the delivery fee as well ! Do not recommend.

You might enjoy this place as long as you "manage your expectations". We chose to eat Thai this evening were rather hungry. Appetizer - Mee Kroo? A two-foot tall pile of crispy noodles, fried in honey. Have fun excavating for the Three baby shrimp and two small bite size pieces of chicken. $8.95. Tasty noodles but a joke when comparing the amount of shrimp and chicken. I don't eat Thai often. However, the few times I have I have only gotten plump succulent shirmp and healthy portions of meat (chicken, fish or beef). Moon must choose to pay for fancy decor by being stingy on portions. Give me a whole in the wall with good food and decent portions and I howl at the Moon. Entrees 1- Pad Thai $12.95, heavy dark noodles due to too much oil, few peanuts, again sparse use of poultry. Pei Wei much better!! 2- Whole fried fish, $22.95, well cooked, requested level 2 hotness, but g/f claimed it was bland. Dessert - green tea ice cream (how can you go wrong?) Cocktails - Leichy Martini - too sweet unable to finish (g/f) Decor - beautiful, flowing contemporary lines, an Asian fusion flare including abstract art. Service - attentive and engaging staff. Price - two of us for dinner, desert and two cocktails, 18% tip = $72 Bring your own cooked chicken and shrimp and you might leave full. Otherwise, get ready for a gut full of noodles and an unintelligible explanation by the manager as to the rationed number of shrimp and chicken.

I heard there was a Moon in West Kendall...from the fellas at Moon at Southland Mall...so I hopped in for a quick pickup on a weeknight. Layout of Moon restaurants kinda all look the same..this one reminded me of the one in the Gables..but emptier. Ordered some roll...took about 10 mins or so. Got home and I wasn't impressed..$13 and I got 8 pieces...huge albeit. But the spicy tuna tasted funky..and then tummy ache after. :( Maybe it would be a better experience another time! Tip-bits: Do not wait outside if picking up food, sit on their lovely red couch! Mosquitoes from the Everglades are hungry for your blood! I personally think every single Moon cuts their sushi rolls into very big pieces, request bite-size cuts!

I've been here a few times & each time, the food was amazing. The atmosphere is kind of dark at night, but I guess that would be cool if you were on a date. I was actually with my mom. 1 star deducted for the lighting, but overall, it was great.

I'm a regular to Moon Thai. This place (kendall location) never disappoints. Such a variety of food, great taste, big portions... over all excellent. I always order the No rice rolls and Sashimi combos. Delish! And the staff is always so friendly. I definitely recommend.

Right from jump, this place has a classy ambiance and a relaxing & cheery atmosphere. Moon's green and orange painted walls, plus their unique, wavy architectural structure stands out in a refreshing manner. The lighting is intimately colored a passionate red. Various geometric shapes embellish the room in a fluid and harmonious motion. The comfortable and spacious booths are plush. Murals of Asian plants and flowers adorn the walls from floor to ceiling. There's no staff hidden behind closed doors with Moon's modern open kitchen, busy sushi bar and well-stockrd cocktail bar. I like the way servers and hostesses greeted me with a sincere, friendly smile. Everything seems very clean. I came in to try the pad thai noddles for lunch. It comes with soup and salad as part of the lunch special for $11. The fresh Miso soup was flavorful. The salad was fresh except the tomato, which was way too ripe for my tastes. Service was not only friendly but proficient, the waitress keeps it moving, smiles and makes eye contact everytime. I asked her for her name and she said, "Kim for easy, Quwandron for longer." She's a cute Asian with a winner's attitude. The Pad Thai noodles were perfect. Seasoned with balanced amounts of spices making it taste just right. The Thai Ice Tea also tasted proper, it wasn't too sweet. Big screen TV, I'm coming back for Heat games and happy hour! The only slight set back is the price, but hey you get what you pay for. :)

If I was a food critic for a living restaurants would cringe at the drop of my name. Yes, I am one finicky eater and I like my food as simple as can be. I'm not into fancy names or sauces or all this fusion mumbo jumbo that lots of places have. So when my co-workers invited me out to eat at Moon Thai & Japanese, I shuddered at the thought. Fortunately, one was very convincing and I made it out to try the chicken teriyaki, miso soup and salad. The tea was whatever. The chicken however and I don't eat meat too often was so delicious, I was actually craving it the next day. The only thing, is that the layered on the sauce way too much...so i know for next time to ask for it on the side. Overall, good service, nice looking eatery, affordable prices and a fab spot in Kendall to dine at.

huge menu! too big and way overwhelming. came here with fam so 6 hungry people that love to eat too much despite the serious hazards to their health. there are 2 menus: 1 jap and 1 thai and they are about 12" x 22" in size (this is a guess but they are very big!!! my brother spilled his water after hitting his glass with one of these menus). each person gets 2 menus, so it takes a while to decide what to eat. service: friendly and attentive. atmosphere: big place, lots of booths, TVs on but no sound, chillin' food: surprisingly good, not amazing. for app, we had fried crab wonton and fried calamari and both ok but I liked calamari better b/c dipping sauce sweet and spicy. brother and sister in-law had 2 duck dishes (tom kha kai and ped nam dang) and they enjoyed it thoroughly. I had the pad thai that is mixed with chicken and shrimp. the noodles were a little chewy but tasty and the protein was ok...i like the noodles more than the chicken, pork, shrimp, etc. we also ordered cali roll, JB roll, and dragon roll and none were out of this world and hubby said crunchy roll a little cold...eek. miso soup good. ginger salad good too and good portion. in fact, all portions large (I shared my pad thai with 2 other people). desserts all sound good and we had the thai donuts (they don't sprinkle powered sugar on them and they really should), and fried key lime cheesecake that comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. the key lime was good and v. limey which I love. I would return b/c of their good service and to try another item from their many million menu options, but don't know when b/c it's located in BFE for me. so all in all, I give it 3 stars b/c menu is too big and food was good.

The first time I ate, we picked it up. I ordered the pad thai, which was acceptable but a bit greasier than normal. The red curry was ok too, but did a # on the stomach. The second time I tried it, we ate in for lunch and still not impressed. Overall, I think I won't be going back. Its not authentic, its more like what it is, a franchise.

I wouldn't normally think to mention the decor but as someone mentioned in a previos review, the colors are in this place were not thought out right. When I think Thai or Japanese I think rich, deep colors like reds, purples and golds, not nursery blue,green,yellow,orange,red,...... We were seated in a nice big booth that thankfully was comfortable because we were waiting a long time before anyone came by to bring us water or take our order. Did I mention it was a Monday night and not very full? Okay, now that I'm through pointing out the negatives let me get to where it all turned for the better. Once our waiter came by to take our order the service after that was great. He was friendly and knowledgable of the menu. He made sure to let us know if anything we ordered might be too sweet or too spicy. The food came out pretty quickly after that and I have to say it all tasted really good, so good that my boyfriend and I both kept eating long after we were full. I do plan on going back to eat here and hopefully save some room for one of their yummy looking desserts. I have to give them 3 stars because although the food was good it wasn't what I consider a 5 star taste and I had to take a point off for the wait before recieving any service.

I Went To the Moon on 163rd and Kendall this past weekend, not knowing what to expect, perhaps just another sushi place. It is, however, quite different from the previous sushi establishments I have dined at, and offers a wide variety of Japanese AND Thai food. We had ordered a spicy shrimp Thai Soup that was very tasty, and a seaweed salad that was fresh and delicious. We then ordered some sushi entrees; the London Fog roll and the Volcano Roll. The Fog Roll was actually a real treat, and was truly more than what i could ask for. Unfortunately, the Volcano was not as desired, as the conch was over cooked, spoiling the topping placed on the roll. Once realizing the chef's errors, the server quickly apologized about the faulty meal, and had the Volcano Roll removed from the tab, which was a very nice gesture. For dessert we had the Thai donuts which were a true delight! I enjoyed our stop at Moon, and even though there was a inaccuracy in one of the entrees, it was well accommodated!!!! We will definitely make another stop there in the near future, and I recommend to anybody in the vicinity!

First time I wasn't overly impressed but I went back for valentine's day and loved the food. Highly recommend their lunch specials. I got 2 full size sushi rolls for $13. We also had chicken pad Thai and chicken fried rice. All so tasty and yummy. I don't care for their salads (don't like ginger dressing nor their peanut dressing) nor their soup (I love clear soup and they have miso). All in all def going back for some more sushi during lunch time :)

I went here for the first time on a Friday night and loved it. We immediately got a table for 4 with no wait. I ordered the Red Curry with Beef and it was spicy and delicious. I highly recommend it. The spring rolls are good and the spicy lover roll is yummy. However, I wish the roll size was cut a bit smaller. Our server was friendly and am glad I had him because he recommended the red curry and I'm so glad I listened to him. It's a bit far out west but I will definitely be coming back soon or going to their other location on US1.

So we live right around the block from this restaurant. And we love sushi and Thai food. Should be a great match, right? Only problem is the quality of the cooking is spotty at best. Get the "right" night and your food is probably pretty good. But get the wrong night and everything goes to heck. So you might have guessed, tonight was the "wrong" night. The calamari was so over cooked it wasn't just rubbery it was downright hard. One of us ordered Chicken and Peanut Sauce. It tasted like peanut butter on chicken nuggets. So we sent it all back. Hey, not every dish can be a masterpiece. But here's the part that irked me. The manager came to the table and tried to act like I didn't know what I was talking about. She pulled the we know Thai food better than you attitude. Wrong answer. To try to make me feel like I don't understand what peanut sauce should taste like or that calamari shouldn't be able to break concrete it beyond annoying. She took the dishes back. I just wish she would've saved the attitude. So will we be back? I don't know. There are a lot of choices around here...including other Thai restaurants. Recommendation: look elsewhere.

Awesome! Had lunch here today based on the review of another yelper. I had the number 2 lunch combo. I tried the peanut dressing for the salad based on the waiters recommendation. Sensational! Everything was fresh and tasty. The portions were generous. My waiter Joey was exceptional. He really was attentive and brought a refill without having to ask. I really recomend this place if you're in the neighborhood and want to try fresh Suchi.

Super fresh and fast takeout! I usually go to the one at Southland mall cuz it's closer to my house, but this location is a lot closer to where I work. Ordered their magic moon roll, which I've never seen at the other location and I loved it! I will definitely be going back in the future to pick up lunch.

I'm a big fan of their pad thai! I normally order the appetizer pad thai because the portion is already big, and I doubt that I would be able to finish the entree sized pad thai. The tom yum goong is pretty good, but be careful when choosing the spice level, because for me level 2 was spicy, and 3 is almost unbearable. Service here is good, the waiter/waitresses are attentive, and food comes out pretty fast.

  • Kathy J.

I am a regular customer however, Im not sure what occurred this month but the food tastes different. (And for the worse). The Pad thai did not have a pleasant smell and tasted different. The ramen soup did not look or taste like ramen soup. The pork inside the Soup appeared as chunks of bacon with mostly fat. Another side dish I usually order is vegetable Kimchee of which the waitress informed me they dont prepare??? If all of this is do to a change of chefs, please rehire the old one and notify me, otherwise, this will probably be my last visit. Thank you! !

So far I am confused, bombarded by no less than 7 menus. Japanese, thai, drinks, specials, lunch specials. The waitress tells me don't pay attention just order from the long special. I start with veggie spring rolls. Surprise, not veggie. Some type of chicken in them. They were cold and very greasy. They should be hot, right? Salad came packed into a tiny bowl and I can't eat it with out making a mess. Maybe I'm just cranky but can't even put my fork down the bowl is tiny and dressing piled in top. Fork falls onto table and iceberg Lettuce Flies out! Ok main sushi was good. Should have just gotten sushi! Overall too many menus with dozens of pages. Good sushi and sashimi.

My go-to sushi place in Kendall. BEST rolls: Magic Moon, London Fog (Both are very tasty and fun to eat!) SMALL app to TRY: Tom Yum Talay (Semi spicy {if you order medium} lemony soup) SERVICE: Excellent TOTAL: $30 (2 rolls, 1 soup) WOULD I come back?: Yes WHY?: For how the food, ambiance, service and quality mesh well. Also, they don't charge extra for brown rice in the rolls ;]

Came in here last week and was really happy with my order. I had Pad Thai, get their appetizer plate cause I can't eat the meal portion by myself, and a roll with a pink cosmo. The drink was surprisingly good. It almost tasted like a jolly rancher and the alcohol, though not strong, was a nice and pleasant kick. I also sampled my friends margarita and I am still dreaming of driving all the way over here for one. I really enjoyed my meal and the waiter was also really cool. I noticed that this location I could actually talk to my waiter and get a conversation in whereas the other location (US1 by UM) the people are rushing you a bit for the order and leave immediately. I honestly felt like a friend was serving me my food =} Oh and there is ample parking spaces here too!

By far the best sushi restaurant I've been to in Miami (just like its sister restaurant in US1) I used to go to the one in US1 but when I moved to Kendall I found out this one was also close by. Again, three main factors of why it's great! Quality: fresh food, presentation is always good. Rolls don't fall appart. Pad thai and pad see ew always the same taste. Quantity: rolls are a decent size (unlike other sushi place where the rolls are made extremely small and only serve 6-8 of them) Price: Not over priced like other hyped up sushi places in Miami. Been going to Moon Thai since 2010 It's great for big groups, family, and now babies.

I love the food here but I have to deduct 2 stars for how rude our waitress is being right now. She just accused us of ordering too much food--- how rude! All while making faces at our food choices, as if we picked the worst dishes on the menu. I much prefer the Sunset location.

This place is a fusion of Thai and Japonese dishes. The best part, daily happy hours between 5-8pm, even on weekends. Place is nicely decorated with some interesting and original pieces. Staff is courteous and attentive. Prices are resonable. Have gone back more than a few times. Enjoyed the pad Thai dish with chicken and tofu, extra spicy.

When asked which sushi restaurant was my favorite, I was tongue tied on Moon or Kampai (off Sunset). After trying so many restaurants (fiance and I are sushi lovers), I'd have to say that Moon is one of the most consistently tasty restaurants for sushi. Also! Their Thai food ain't bad either. ;) Whenever we go here, we like to order the Four Seasons roll or the Geisha Bento Box. Their side green salad (that comes with the Geisha box) is always refreshing, cold an crisp. I am in love with their miso dressing and their peanut dressing. :) The Four Seasons roll is soooo gooooooood. If you haven't tried it, I'd try it! It's super tasty. I only wish they had some awesome green tea desserts... I shorted a star because for the price you end up paying per person ($15-20/person -- which isn't too bad, I'll admit), I really wish it was an AYCE sushi restaurant. Would be perfecto! :D

Service and food consistently good. Fridays are way too busy for my taste. When we arrived tonight we were immediately greeted and seated. The waiter was pleasant and explained they were having issues with computers and that service may be slow. I had an 8:30 appointment and needed to leave no later than 8:00. He assured me the service would not be that long and processed my payment manually. I appreciate his honesty and made sure that his tip didn't suffer for any delays. Great service!!!

Very good find. Ordered to go on a Saturday night and was surprised to find the dining area empty. Not crowded at all with loud obnoxious people. The service was friendly, but their online site is horrible if you want to glance at their menu. We had the Basil Pork fried rice and the Chicken & Shrimp pad Thai. Which were both delicious and hearty. We also had the chicken sticks as an appetizer which was also very tasty. Expect to pay a bit more than your usual Asian food, but it's worth it.

The food was phenomenal the Miami hurricane rolls are fuego service could have been a little more attentive but the food made up for it. Didn't mind the price cause the sweet and sour chicken was great, definitely going again

I am new to Thai food. This restaurant was recommended to me by my cousin who lives in the area. I am not mad about going. I loved my volcano chicken. The spice level was right on point. The waitress was very attentive. The decor is beautiful. I'll be going back again and again.

Ok...ambiance is great, best I've seen in a long time, but that is the only decent thing about this place. Went for lunch on Monday. Server did not bother to ask if we wanted anything to drink. The food was NOT good. The sushi combo #1 had rotten white fish. We literally spit it back on the plate and when we informed out server he said "it was because the vinegar" ?? On sushi?? He half heartedly asked if we wanted a new one. We refused. The ginger beef was left over pieces from Sunday and was overcooked. They did not take anything off our bill. They did give us free hot tea.... And as a warning for delivery....we watched their delivery driver repeatedly cough all over the food station, into his hands (never washed them) and on his iPad as he played some game in full site of the dining room. Needless to say we will not be back. Sad because we loved the moon Thai on US1.

My favorite Thai place for several reason. I like that they have an option of two menus, the Japanese menu with a large number of Sushi rolls and the Thai menu with all the warm dishes. My favorite dish has got to be the Pad Thai, I know it is simple but ohh, I cannot stop myself, I have to admit the portions are enormous and therefore I prefer to order the appetizer portion. My other favorite dish is the Mi Krop which literary mean crispy noodle. It is covered with a thin layer of flavored honey, chives, chicken and purple onions. Can't eat it all so prepare to take some home.

My husband and I went there for the first time last Friday. We were looking for a sushi restaurant that also had a full bar and were pleasantly surprised it was so close to our house. This place is awesome. The pad Thai is the best I've had. The tuna tataki was delicious and fresh. My husband had the crispy duck and loved it. The rolls were great and drinks were as good as the food. Totally recommended this place if you want a full bar and fresh sushi. Can't wait to go back!!

I do not know what has happened to this place. My boyfriend and I have come here many times in the last two years. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was completely awful. We came in at the end of happy hour (roughly 7:45pm) and it wasn't until almost 10 minutes later that someone came and asked us if anyone had helped us. Then when we finally got our waters we ordered everything. Our waiter was HORRIBLE we were his youngest table so I guess he assumed we wouldn't tip him so he paid little mind to us. I ordered a passion fruit margarita that took 15 minutes to make and then came out watery and tasted like orange. My boyfriends volcano roll had hard crab on top. We also had to ask a hostess for the manager just to tell her we could not get our waiters attention since he would not look our way and all we wanted was spicy mayo and eel sauce and that my drink was bad. It will probably be a LONG time until I decide to go again, if I do.

Alright well let me start off by saying it was my first time at moon Thai and I was disappointed by my experience. It started with the delay of my drinks. I got them after I was almost done with my appetizer so that was odd. My entree was a chicken curry the red version which was listed as hot hot the curry was not hot, the chicken tasted VERY OFF and i did not enjoy my 17$ dish..... Now on with the next, my girlfriend ordered chicken pad thai which also tasted off to her and she did not enjoy. She only ordered the appetizer size thankfully lol. After that we had sushi as well, the sushi tasted great I have no complaints with the sushi YET the waitress dropped my 4 sushi rolls off my plate on the floor after taking it to put it in a to go container she dropped it by the kitchen so it couldve been any plate but since she never brought it back and just brought our receipt I assume it was the sushi, i just never brought it up again , it slipped my mind and i realized a second later but had left. I just think its unusual thats all, i paid for something i wanted to take home and i didnt get it. If i go back its for the coconut shrimp to go.

When I was a student at the University of Miami, I would go to Moon Thai & Japanese about once a month to indulge in savory Thai and Japanse cuisine. So when I heard that Moon Thai & Japanese opened a new restaurant by my "neck of the woods", I was pleased to find out that I could satisfy my sushi and pad thai needs. But one thing happened that I did not expect from them... my expectations were surpassed from that of the UM location. The inside of the restaurant is more up-to-date and trendier than the branches by the University of Miami, and the food is more delicious. My friend and I ordered a sushi roll which had avocado and tempura shrimp, and it was probably one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. We also ordered vegetable and shrimp tempura which was crispy to our liking, and we finished our visit to Moon Thai and Japanese with a helping of key lime cheesecake tempura, which tasted just as well as it looked. If you are a fan of Moon Thai & Japanese by the University of Miami, I hope this restaurant exceeds your expectations because they definitely exceeded mine. For those on a budget, I would recommend going during lunchtime because they have reasonably priced lunch specials which are around the $11-$13 range and come with a good portion of food. The service is exceptional as they always made sure that our glasses were full of water. When I visited them, the restaurant was really empty, so there might be no or short wait time to be seated.

Well if you drink water lunch here is $12 plus tax and tip. The food however is spectacular. The meal includes a delicious fresh salad, followed by a choice of two soups and then the main course. I ordered a thai chicken that was very delicious and it included brown rice and steamed vegetables. The staff was very nice and fast, if you're in the area definitely check this place out.

Being greeted by a girl in a school girl outfit (plaid short and white top) almost made me rethink this place but once I sat down I figured this wasn't on of those restaurants which offer a show of sorts. Though this was the 1st place I didn't like my sushi (too fried for my taste) I loved everything else. The food was delicious overall (TRY THEIR THAI DONUTS!) and the service was downright excellent. I haven't been to their other location and don't plan on to- why change something when it's so good?! They have decent drink specials and nice TVs so you can always change up your routine of your usual sports bar to watch the Heat (win- naturally of course) game or any sport of your choosing. 2 things: -Music selection is- interesting to say the least. You'll see what I mean. -There's a lot to choose from. Almost TOO much so if you usually take a long time to order (like yours truly), prepare to double that time

Table for one. For the record, they have great happy hour specials here. The sushi chefs are very delightful. They chat, suggest different plates and seem like they are having a great time. I've been here a few times, I've had the pad thai which was hot, fresh and I enjoyed very much. I've also tried a handful of spicy rolls and it is never a let down. The decor is nice too. I wish more restaurants in Kendall were designed like this, instead of tacky wall paper that is found in most shopping plaza restaurants and restaurant chains. Sigh.

Had a great lunch today with my BFF and had the shrimp pad Thai which was spicy but so good I could not stop. My friend was adventurous and tried pad see Eiew and it was AMAZING! It was like fresh made tagliatelle in an incredible rich sauce with mushrooms and broccoli, spicy but you just couldn't stop! I will be back soon for that VERY soon. Portion was generous, couldn't finish either dish all around great experience.

Great food ruined by horrible managing. OK here we go: My waitress, the poor soul, misheard my order for a Spicy Tuna Roll and brought me a Spicy Shrimp Roll, I bit into it without looking (my fault , which is why I did what I did later on) and quickly realized this was shrimp not Tuna...The Waitress came by and I explained that she had brought me the wrong roll. Any other place would have had her go back to the Bar and order me up the right one. End of story right? Nope, she apparently had to go and confess to the manager that she ordered me the wrong meal and then the Manger comes back over to me and makes me feel like a jerk by telling me that the waitress will have to pay for the roll out of her pay. WTF? Seriously....I will not give this place another dollar as long as there are 2000 other places in Miami that sell the SOS. Needless to say I gave the girl a $20 dollar tip on a 30 dollar bill to cover for managers poor judgment and lack of professionalism about the situation. Hopefully this will shed some light on the type of place this is. I for one, will not be eating here again....Not because the food was bad but because the MANAGER IS AN ASS! My Suggestion: Lower the ridiculously loud asian techno, (I'm there to eat, not dance) the orders might actually be audible.

The food is pretty good here but there are some foods you typically have to stay away from. The concept of having a Japanese and Thai restaurant kind of fused together is a bit weird but it works. But I've noticed that people tend to either stick with the Japanese or Thai, perhaps it's because Thai is often really greasy and sets the mood apart differently. I'm a sucker for soft-shelled crab but this place's soft-shelled crab wasn't great at all. Their sushi's are pretty much just monstrosities of what Americans expect Japanese sushi to be. But their sashimi sets are very good, nice chunks of raw fish artfully placed together with a bed of rice on the side. As for Thai, their basil fried rice, pineapple fried rice and drunken noodles (pad se ew) are very good. My friends always stick to those three when we're eating there. Though I've only mentioned a couple of things off the menu, their menu is quite extensive and somewhat daunting. The pictures help but a lot of the stuff on their menu I don't think I would even try. Wait staff is nice, always have been really friendly. I've only had one experience where the wait staff was mean. And when you go order take out they'll serve you water and they have a little area where you can play a game of chess! This place's service is very good. Overall, I like this place, I just think that they're trying to do too much.
