Probably the most unique "non Miami" restaurant lounge that you may experience in Dade (not counting Jimbo's which is in a whooole other category). The decor is a NY:Chicago deceptive hole-in-the-wall, old jazz club that is seems out of your price range. A couple used to sing here...but I think they broke up (it's a piano bar...). One still plays with any excited armature that wants to join. People get into it, before you know it your belting out some Elton John sipping on Port the owner so generously gives out when he is having a good night. The food is great, try the simple duck! Drink prices were typical but with more realistically priced wines. Dessert cart. Sweet rolls you can't get enough of. ON A BUDGET? Pregame a bit, savor the wine by the glass, unlimited bread basket with variety, and the french onion soup. Oh my the french onion soup. And enjoy the music because it is free! (Told you "non Miami")

the place was cool looking. very dim lighting, red velvet curtains and eclectic piano bar area. the ONLY 2 things i liked about this restaurant was the beignets and that you can sit at the piano bar and eat there, THATS IT! the place is overpriced. the food is blah! i am actually kinda shocked, since the reviews are specatcular. i do not agree at all. i would have rathered eat at mac donald's and i am serious.

I love this place! I have only been to the back where the tiki hut is. Cute outdoor area with super comfortable sofas! Bartenders are very nice and social. Drinks are more than reasonable price for what you get. The ambiance is very subtle and chill, I meet someone new there every time I have been there! Went with a party of 10 friends had the entire patio and it was a blast! Ever since then I'm becoming a regular!

I can't say enough good things about this place. Gay bar, gay friendly, whatever. It's fun, it's got class and you can sit at the piano for a more intimate sing along experience. I end up here for most of my birthdays. You should too. Oh AND it's a restaurant with great food ?? What's keeping you from coming here?

Magnum is a fanciful piano bar and restaurant located in the upper east side near the 79th Street Causeway. I love this little neighborhood hang. It is the perfect blend of sophistication and chill. I usually hit up this place towards the weekend (Thursday-Saturday nights) and I'll slip in around 7 to catch the tail-end of happy hour and the first hour or two of the musician's set. I really love coming when Rick and Jonathan perform! Rick can really do a good "that's amore" on the piano and he even acts the part out. We've even hired these two to play at our house-warming party a couple years back. The music varies and some nights we don't dig it. But overall, the quality and range of songs that each musician performs makes for a good, live music set. Think oldies, Broadway hits, and epic love songs. It's a essentially a locals bar and restaurant. Even with the new ownership, the locals still come here to hang. I always bump into someone I've seen or know and it always makes for a nice, little reunion. The bartender, Ray, pours solid and stiff cocktails. Bar snacks are yummy if you aren't looking for a meal, but just want good happy hour prices. Drinks are half-priced everyday from 5-8 PM? ranging between (average drink is $5 depending on your pick). The food is good and selections include: soups, appetizers, steaks, pasta, and seafood items. Prices range from $7-35 per item.

Stopped by here on the way home for some live music one night and was not disappointed! The pianist was incredibly talented! He knew majority of the requested songs and was very lively, very entertaining. The woman singing with him... Just wow. Beautiful. She was great to listen to, and I would go back just for another session of that duo! I didn't have any food so I can't comment on that, and the alcohol is just as overpriced as the rest of the alcohol in Miami, so can't really complain. The outside was a little odd. They were playing loud electronic music, even though there was beautiful live music inside. But, just by pass that and go inside for the good stuff!

Seedy is the best word I could use to describe this place. Even though it closed, was revamped, and brought back-- the awful memories at this place still linger in my mind. About a year ago, my current partner DJed at "the shack" which is the outside bar. We had a lot of fun here, but drinks were way overpriced and remain that way even after being taken over by new owners. For being a gritty old place, its incredible that it is about $8 for a glass of wine that costs less than the bottle. Technically, they're making about 500% profit off a $8 glass of Pinot from a Cavit wine bottle that costs about $12 and serves about 5 glasses. Not a good business decision. Shady dealings went on back then, and from my understanding, they implemented cameras to stop this but it hasn't changed. When I last visited, there was a man openly snorting substances in the patio area. The piano bar is where I imagine older gay men go to die. Seriously-- its sad. The crowd is mostly comprised of 50 & older, hags, and a few couples who just want to visit a piano bar. There was usually an older man who regularly played the piano in this room and would have a few drinks, barely able to walk to his large van due to old age and drinking, then drive off...scary! I hope I never end up on the road at the same time as this man. I've heard their food is good, but one of my friends did claim to get food poisoning here. I would personally never eat here. I would also, personally, never return. Shady as hell.

I love this place. The service is incredible. The hostess ,Elizabeth, is lo maximo. I celebrated my birthday last night and really, it was a celebration. The music, singing, atmosphere, drinks , food, and of course that amazing fried chicken were second to none. All my people ate and drank and did not leave at the Cinderella hour. Way after. So if you want to go and hang at this wonderful miami hidden gem, or have a fantastic any kind of celebration. ....this is it.

The most fun you will ever have in Miami. This place oozes happiness. I'm writing this review based on after hours only not meals but if you are looking to forget your worries, be around happy people, enjoy a nice drink and sing amazing show tunes and 80s and 90s classics, this is the place. It's owned by avra jain of vagabond fame and perhaps that's why it's just a fun, classy good time. This is a gay piano bar joint but everyone is welcome and will have an amazing time. The pianist and singers are seriously talented and don't be surprised that many in the audience singing along to the piano are professional level singers. Leave your cares behind, come with some great old skool tunes in mind and just let go and enjoy yourself.

Pretty cool spot. I didn't eat so I can't review the food. The service was ok, but the place was packed so I am showing leniency. Its a neat set-up with inside and outside having totally differing vibes. The people are legit and unique. Its a "gotta try" hidden spot.

Fidel had it right, below. This place is seedy and unwelcoming. My husband and I went to check it out tonight for drinks for a date night. The stools around the bar were all taken, and when we went toward the restaurant area to find other seating, we were told that we could only sit in the restaurant area if we were eating food. There was one high-top available in the very corner of the bar, tucked behind a column so you couldn't sit and watch/enjoy the piano. Not that you would anyway, because the people playing the piano were making a farce out of it all- doing the obnoxious drag queen shtick. The crowd was all 50+ and kinda sketch. We left without even getting a drink because it was so uncomfortable.

After hearing such great things on here about the "cheers like neighborhood place" I knew I had to check it out. While I didn't quite get the "everybody knows your name" vibe, I did have a good time. The best part of this place has to be the piano bar, I can't imagine why anyone would choose to sit outside away from the fun. I didn't eat while there so I can't comment on the food, but the drinks were good, not too strong, but definitely not watered down. The main problem, is their elderly waitress. The only reason I didn't give more stars was because our waitress was SO rude. I came in with my boyfriend and parents for a little fun after my mom's birthday dinner. Upon sitting down, the waitress came over to take our drink orders. My dad asked if they carried a certain brand of vodka, and you would think- with her response and facial reactions, that he had just thrown a bunch of insults at her. She was so nasty about it, to the point that she had embarrassed my father. And that REALLY bothered me. Make me feel like crap, fine. But my parents?! I tried to make the best of the night, and just enjoy the music, but I couldn't get the waitresses' behavior out of my mind. My boyfriend and I looked around and we weren't the only table having to awkwardly deal with this nasty woman. It was really a shame. I still would like to come back and give this place another chance, however my boyfriend disagrees. After the waitress treated my family and other patrons, he wants nothing to do with the place.

Place closed for a few months, but it's open again! Different owners, but same old timey look and a better sound system for live music. Can't go wrong with it! :-)

The Magnum holds a special place in my heart, mainly because of it's name, but also for being one of the first places I went out to when I moved here. What's great about the Magnum Lounge is the patrons there was ego-free, which sometimes can be difficult to find in Miami. It's really a mix crowd of people which is also nice. The Magnum Lounge for all intents and purposes is a restaurant which features a bar and piano bar, which then turns the Magnum Lounge into a Gay bar. Trust. Go on a Friday night and you'll see. The piano bar is great. Good music, accompanied by strong drinks and friendly faces who sometimes touch you when you don't want to be touched, but hey, that's ok. The bar staff makes great drinks. As mentioned before, they're really strong so bring a DD. Parking is not my favorite thing, but park somewhere on the street and you'll be fine (if your car isn't broken into that is). Every time I come here I have a blast. It really is a place where you can let you hair down and just enjoy yourself and more than likely sing a few show tunes.

Haven't been in a long time .. Over 5 years.. Last night was just great.. Dinner at 9.. Food and service was good and consistent.. The manager accommodated us and after dinner a seat for my elderly mom next to piano.. This place is just plain fun and great dining experience.. Thank you again!!:)

DON'T COME HERE TO EAT! FOOD IS OVERPRICED AND ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. Everything else is fun. Show is fun, bartenders are nice. Waitress was ok. I ate here 5 years ago and the food was bad then too. However the piano bar, red bordello atmosphere is a very different feel than anywhere else in Miami. Just don't eat here.

The chicken quesadilla with bacon is one of the best I've ever had! The burgers are great especially because they are grass fed. Anything that is fried is the best including the chicken wings, fried chicken dinner, calamari and the crab cakes!

Magnum is really a lot of fun. They have a happening Bar, restaurant, and an outside bar with a limited menu. The caberat and singers are worth a visit alone. The food is ok, not great. The service is outstanding, And they have valet parking, as well as plenty free parking across the street. The people watching is really good as is the mix of clientel. Magnum is always fun, especially on the weekend, when it is crowded.

I found this write up and thought it was perfect for a description of the bar and restaurant we all love. You remember the cliché about queens singing show tunes around the piano? The cliché is alive and well at Magnum. Every night, a group of gentlemen gather at this cozy lounge to show off their pipes and musical knowledge. My Funny Valentine, The Man That Got Away and Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered--all the chestnuts get an airing here, and with great gusto. Far away from the muscles and techno of South Beach, this bar is a time warp--in the best possible way. It's warm and elegant: under dim lights, the crimson walls, red velvet drapes, oil paintings, gilt mirrors and wooden shutters create a womb-like vibe. Lanterns, flickering candles and snug booths add a romantic mood. Cocktails are gorgeous, as are the staff. Meals are served, too, and they're good enough to attract a straight crowd. An outdoor bar--the Shack--is open seven days a week (unlike the main club, which is closed on Mondays).

This restaurant is under new management. The new manager is amazing and extremely welcoming, staff is very knowledgeable and helpful! Everyone from service to bartending know what they're doing and do it well!! Great food, music, drinks and they constantly have promotions going on. Don't miss out on this gem of a restaurant!!

I must admit I was a bit harsh and unapologetic about my previous review. New management has really stepped up to the plate and Magnum is back to its old charm and kind service. Keep up the great work, Magnum staff. It's great to see everything come together!

The place just oozes style. Great music, piano bar, super nice bartenders. I guess it caters to a gay crowd but everyone is welcome it seems and the crowd is so diverse it's almost comical. I make a point to stop in at least once a month. Good times.

The location of Magnum Lounge is full of surprises. Be sure not to judge this book by its cover. On the outside, it is not that impressive but the minute you step inside, the ambiance, food, and service will knock your socks off. The establishment and staff are very personable and attentive. This NY piano bar is one of a kind in the area. Magnum is always lively and exciting. It's the perfect place to take an out of town guest. The food is delicious and the margaritas are stellar. The owner is always so gracious and it is clear that he knows what he is doing, because his lounge is always bumping! I can't get enough of Magnum Lounge!!!! It is a MUST experience, promise.

We went to Magnum after dinner at around 10:30 PM. Driving by, it doesn't look like much, but when you get inside it has an awesome look and feel. When you go around the back and park there is a really nice guy helping you find the empty spot and navigate around the crowded parking lot. There are two parts to Magnum, Magnum itself (piano bar/lounge and restaurant) and "the Shack" (a little outdoor tiki bar-ish place) which is more low key and casual. Outside, they serve STRONG drinks in plastic cups, but inside everyone is drinking wine out of nice glasses. Inside of Magnum there is the bar and piano area and also a nice dining area. We did not eat there, so I cannot speak about the food, but the atmosphere was fantastic! It had a lounge like, cabaret feel, with ambient reddish lighting, and unique decor. The vibe at this place can be described as friendly and welcoming. This place is very gay friendly, but there are all types in attendance and everyone feels welcome. The pianist playing the night we were there was very talented, and there were some talented singers joining him with a range of operatic to broadway styles. I highly recommend checking this place out.

This is such a neighborhood gem! Make sure to pay attention to the nightly specials cause they are usually over the top...and sometimes they run out quickly. I always get the crab cakes or opt for Lobster cakes if available. The homestyle fried chicken is a must! The place is very intimate and owner is always personable.

I've dined at Magnums at least 20+ times, here is what it's all about: 1-Fritters! They are served with the bread and I always eat them all before the entree. 2-Music! It's always a good time with showtunes and drunks performing them 3-Ambiance! A vibrant crowd of locals ranging from late-night drinkers to early-bird seniors. Everyone has a good time. 4-Porto! Jeffrey introduced us to the sweet dessert wine almost 10 years ago and we enjoy the after dinner drink with him every time. The Food is sometimes great, sometimes just OK. Always ask for the specials though. Desserts are always great, but Im usually stuffed by then.

Man was I surprised by this place! First off, it is like entering an old Parisian piano bar/cabaret. Dim red lighting, red velvet everywhere, and a piano as the main focus point. I have yet to try the food so I cannot comment on that, but the bar and the music is worth the trip. My experience there is that once the dinner service is over, the patrons are mostly gay therefore, if you are not comfortable with that, then I would say this place might not be for you. Personally I am not gay, but I have had "fabulous" times each and every time I have been there. Great people and great music whether DJ or actual singers. I recommend it.

Very welcoming and entertaining restaurant, with friendly and knowledgable waiters! The Piano bar is great, offering live music while you dine. The food was delicious.. I had the pistachio crusted chicken with mango sauce (delicious) and mashed potatoes (little heavy on the salt... but still good). If you want a nice escape from the 'typical Miami'.. Visit this great little gem... You won't be dissappointed!

Excellent restaurant, great service and a fun little Piano bar. Has a very old school but romantic feel to it. Service is very personal, owner comes by to check on you and personally seats you. as other reviewers have said, very different from the regular Miami night spot but different in a good way. This is a good place to relax and forget the world outside, watch people make fools of themselves at the Karaoke bar and just sit back and not do much at all. Don't be alarmed by how it looks from outside, inside is very different. Easy parking which is also nice in MIami I also liked the gesture when the owner offered free glasses of port at the table to finish off.

  • Adrian P.

Its 5 starts for the outside patio and the little bar that serves 4 dollar margaritas all night, out of all three times I have been there I have not even been the actual restaurant but I did hear the fried chicken is amazing! SO yeah its a cool place to go sit outside have some margaritas for four dollars, and hang with friends. And now that I have been to the inside I wish I can give more than five stars. Not pretentious, you feel at home and the service is great! Especially Guillermo very attentive, friendly and helpful with any questions?

Oh, hell yes. Yelpers, you rock. Went on a Friday despite a local Miami friend's utter disdain of the place (for no reason I could discern) because you Yelpers were so adamant about it. Loved it! Our one regret is not having gone earlier in the evening, because we only got to hear about 1.5 hours of the piano player. He stops at 12:30, sharp. Bang. My friend, herself a performer, practically ran to the piano and asked him to do "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." A couple of minutes into her singing and the owner, Jeffrey, was at our table, asking who her manager was and could he buy us some shots. He was charming and affable and lent even more fun to the place. We'd already eaten, which was too bad, because the food looked really good. Okay, well, even though we'd already eaten, we still had to order some fried chicken, and it was yummy! If you have any fondness for show tunes, piano bars and/or truly chill lounges, you canNOT go to Miami and not try Magnum.

Love this place!! The food, drinks and the staff are great!! Very nice place to have a birthday dinner with friends or a quick drink before going out. This place will set u in the right mood. The Piano bar music after 11 on a Friday night are the best. A must!!

This is how it should be. A perfect and all encompassing atmosphere. A feeling of sheer delight and comfort engulfs you the moment you step foot through the door. Fred Ebb's ultimate philosophy is manifested in this exquisite establishment. One of the greatest pleasures I have experienced. You can not go wrong with any chicken item on the menu. The portion size from the kitchen and bar make you feel at home. The service is so impeccable. You feel as if the employees are peers and simply just entertaining you in their abode. This is one place I would gladly make my dwelling away from home.

I loved magnum. It's got a great feel to it. Part dark, part 50's LA style bar, part kitschy, with GREAT FOOD. From the crab cakes to the fried chicken my girlfriend had- we were over satisfied. If it wasn't on 79th street(part of the charm for me) it would be packed all the time. The owner was super nice as was the total service. Can't forget to mention the piano player was awesome. I'll be going back soon as should you.

The crowd is definiltey diverse, I live near by. I think it reflects the area. The atmosphere is very nice. I did not sit down to eat, I went on a Friday not too late. The bar area was a little too crowded and it compromised the service.

Four stars = 'Yay! I'm a fan.' Such a subjective term. After all, some of us are fans of horror films, others of love stories, others of high-camp comedies, and still others of film noir. At Magnum Lounge, where I went last night, we found it all: horror, love, comedy, and a smoky, sultry joint of old Hollywood (CA not FL.) The horror was twofold: walking in to the darkest bar I've ever been got my hypothalamus gland throbbing at the thought of impending danger. Then, that danger presented itself in the form of 1/2 price cocktails and the mysterious odor of gasoline. (Apparently, there had been a wee spill on the property right after we arrived.) It wasn't a big issue. I'm not sure if the smell dissipated or if our olfactory nerves simply gave in to the numbing effects of happy hour. The love story happened on my plate. I ordered the (sigh) Shrimp Marsala. Now, I'm of Sicilian-descent. Pasta is important to me. I rarely order it out as a result. My wise Aunt told me years ago, "Kenny, why order something out when you can make it better at home." So, why I ordered the pasta, I'm not sure. Oh, how glad I am I did. Like many love stories, it happen when one least expects it. This was the lightest, freshest, most angelic pasta I've had out in...EVER! I'm not overstating this. It was perfect. So much so that this only-child actually shared it with others at the table just to ensure that he wasn't dreaming. I'm not sure whether they make it there or not, and frankly don't care. I just want more. Others at the table ordered the fried chicken which was Flintstone-sized slabs of juicy chicken fried up, and up, and up. Delicious! The entree and app prices were higher than expected, but when all was said and done, the total of our bill was quite reasonable. I think Ditmar (See below) slipped in a free round or two. (NOTE: It is possible that the food was so good because the place wasn't slammed. I'm not sure if the quality of food stands up on busier nights.) The high-camp came in many forms. One of them the chiseled form of our bartender Ditmar, who took great care of us, and made us feel like the only table in the place. Oh, wait, we were the only table. Regardless, he was a joy. Sitting outside in the living room-like setting, eating our meals, drinking our drinks we had a wonderful time in Ditmar's hands. Then, onto the piano bar which was....umm...surreal. We made the mistake of singing along while a performer, who I'll refer to as 'Clutch' (since he never took his hands of the mic for a moment) glared at us for ruining his set. Clutch, it was ruined before we arrived. I'll say no more. Finally, the look of Magnum Lounge is straight out of 'Mildred Pierce'. Red banquettes. The aforementioned low lighting. A dessert cart!? Don't expect Miami. Expect NYC in the 40's. We even had that classic film moment when the boozy bar patrons, comfortable in the darkness, get jarred by sunlight piercing their peace when a new patron opens the door. It was perfect. I'll go back, and yes...'Yay! I'm a fan.' I hope to see your dark, shadowy figure at Magnum Lounge one night. Just use the back door, please, as not to let in that dreaded sunlight.

This review is long over due. On Jose Luis' reco we came here in December for Emilio's birthday. It was a weekday, and the bar was not too full, so we were able to grab a corner of the bar, pull up a few stools and gather round without blocking too much space from other patrons. There are two rooms, one with the bar, the other is a sit-down restaurant; divided by a small wall and the piano. I really liked the live piano music they have, and the piano player was pretty friendly (especially with the handsome men who approached him). He takes requests and knows a lot of songs; mostly Sinatra-ish music, so be prepared to dance a slow one if you'd like. The only thing I didn't love about the restaurant was the entertainment on the TV screens around the bar. It seems there was a variety show type of "show" on, where the men were all naked, dancing Rockette-style and all. Yup - you read right - NAKED MEN. I'm usually not bothered to see a naked man, everyone is entitled to their own dress code, but when it's 10+ men dancing in a kickline, it can be a little disturbing, especially after you've had a few drinks. With that said, I'm sure by now you've figured out the type of crowd this bar caters. So, do not be alarmed if by last call you see a man getting close to your bf/husband and rubbing his back all up and down as he asks for a cigarette :-) It was quite the evening; entertaining and definitely an amusing way to start a new year.

I would give it 4 stars if the food was better. But it's not the food what should make you go to Magnum! It's the piano, the tunes and the drinks! Great ambiance, dark, cozy and loud! Food was fine, decent, but nothing I would never want to repeat. But I will go back just to have a drink and listen to the piano. There should be more pianos in Miami!!

Magnum Lounge has figured out the winning formula! Good beignets, live entertainment and complimentary port. Felecia W. and I came here on a Tuesday night and closed the place down.

After all the rave reviews about this spot, I finally decided to go. My review does not reflect the masses because I found this spot just OK. I agree it is different from the typical Miami scene. The crowd is very diverse (age, gender, sexual orientation), which I love and appreciate. The food was OK...nothing extra special, the ambiance is cool and chic, and the staff is ultra friendly. The piano karaoke is quite cool. However the only people singing were elderly folk. Wish the younger folk would have joined to keep the vibe up tempo. Most reviews compare this spot to an Urban lounge in NYC, but that wasn't my experience (and I'm from NYC). Urban is not the correct word to describe this spot. Next time I return, I wouldn't have a sit down dinner. Rather, I would have a drink and chill at the bar as that is where the most fun is happening. To be honest, the ratio of older folk (50+), was so high that it took away that chic urban vibe. Although it is a nice spot, it is not what I expected.

My first review-/////deep sigh////. I haven't been to Magnum in a over a year, so my review is dated. The establishment is around the corner from my condo and I dropped in a few times for a drink. I found the bartender easy on the eyes, personable and, when we both discovered the other was a father to a young son, he was very engaging. Drink prices were resonable and, having taken music lessons for 10 years, I really enjoyed the piano player. I've taken dates to the dining area a couple of times but have found the food to be over priced for what you get. But all in all, at least a year ago, I enjoyed my visits. I was hanging at my favorite watering hole, the Boy Bar in Normady Village and learned from some of the other patrons that Magnum had added a new 'tikki' bar, so I'll have to drop in again soon. We found a piece of wire in my husbands steak... they didnt "say sorry"... the service was horrible... my husband plays the piano... and the person that was playing that night was pretty bad... I hope Yelp don't erase this review... let's see Si vienen a Miami no gasten ni un peso aqui.

I drove by this place on 79th St. a hundred times and have to admit that it failed to impress - from the outside. Knowing that the owner, Jeffrey was a man of taste and style, and remembering his old jewel-box restaurant "Jeffrey's" from South Beach however, I knew I had to check it out. When a friend announced her wedding plans and I was looking for a place for four 40-something girlfriends to get together for a pre-wedding night out, I decided to make a reservation. We went early - 7pm - and after parking (for free), we had a drink outside at the "Shack Bar" located off the parking lot. Good strong, cheap drinks but we were not too keen on the funky, seen-better-days outdoor couches and chairs... We headed inside and were greeted by Jeffrey, the owner who led us to our reserved booth. Shortly after we were seated, we broke out the tiara with mini veil for our bride to be, and three big red obnoxious bows for her bridesmaids. Our waiter and Roberta, the wonderful piano player/singer both got into the spirit, offering dishes and songs "for the bride" all night. Other customers repeatedly toasted the bride and one bar patron even sang her his rendition of "You Made Me Love You." It all made for a great night and our bride-to-be had a great time! The food was great too! We had 3 apps: escargot, lobster ravioli and calamari, with the escargot taking the prize; 4 entrees: fried chicken, crabcakes (2) and a tuna special, with the chicken leading the pack; a reasonably priced Argentinian cabernet ($35) and a round of espressos for a total of $250 with a generous tip included. And yes, Jeffrey brought us a round of port on the house - "for the bride." Not bad for a Friday night of fine dining, great service and fun entertainment. I will go back again and again....

My girlfriends and I decided to try Magnum last night. We had heard great things about it and were excited to get out of our dining rut. I have to say that we were very disappointed. The food is overpriced and just ok. The pistachio chicken I ordered was so bland. The decor and ambiance are different from the typical Miami spots but then again so is Fox's and their food is much tastier, bigger portions, and comes with a salad. The pros: drinks were a good price, free parking, the beignets were great, and the show tunes playing were fun.

magnum is located in a sketchy area, if it hadn't been for my cousin's fiancee hyping up this place, i wouldn't have ever known it existed. it's the most hilarious, fantastic and awesome piano/gay bar. get your drink on and start shouting your songs, that they'll probably start playing them. then a wonderful sing a long will start. it also has an awesome neighborhood bar feeling to it. everyone knows each other and just enjoy each others company. can't wait to go back!

Was there last night for dessert and drinks. The owner walked us over to the dessert cart, explained everything and then we sat at the bar. We ordered drinks and a few minutes later dessert was out. Love the live piano Player with the witty comments. After Dessert we moved over to the piano and enjoyed the rest of our evening. This place feels like cheers when I go there. I feel like everyone knows your name. Best bartender there is Nick or Scott

Ha! This place is so rad. Bring your red velvet smoking jacket and your sequin shoes because you will be transported to a strange alternate reality where everything is just right when you walk in the door. Also the food was good and anywhere that brings me hot beignets with dinner is an instant classic. Kudos to Jordan for the first review on this one.

Fun, fun, fun! The main room bartenders are fantastic! The live music is great! Food is ok, depending on what is ordered and most is a bit overpriced.

Love love LOVE this place! I've only been once but I can't wait to go back at some point. I can't even remember what I had to eat there... maybe a crab quesadilla appetizer? But what made it a great place to chill with friends was of course the entertainment. The man at the piano was a great singer, sometimes putting in his own lines into old show tunes. I could have listened to him all night. But then he let some of the really drunk people who thought they were Broadway stars sing and... it kinda went downhill from there (albeit their failure at hitting a high note was sometimes funny). It's a very 'mature' crowd from what I saw. All the people sitting at the piano bar had to be over 50, but I think it only made me like it more. It's kind of like a time warp when you walk in... so go and enjoy some live show tunes with a drink.

We usually make it to Miami once a year from Fargo, ND to see family and friends and always on the "To-Do" list is to have dinner at the Magnum Lounge at least twice during our stay. We also love to hit up their happy hour during our visit as they have some of the best drink specials in Miami. Top shelf service, wonderful food, fantastic atmosphere with a stellar piano bar. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Miami area! p.s. Cheers Jeffery!

i used to go to Magnum regularly.... but hadnt set foot in the establishment in about a year until this past weekend.... and im glad nothings changed. ( well with the execption of the dark and sultry outdoor bar area) The reason i visited Magnum in the first place was based on a review I read on the new times ( The area is not "good" by any means and it's relatively far from my house) BUT, the review was great.... and i wasnt dissapointed. Red velvet drapes...really dim lighting .... CRAZY movies playing in the background, ( some that i've seen : carwash ( pryor), wizard of oz, little shop of horrors) and the live piano.... with nonstop show tunes!!!! After one or two cocktails you're pretty much singing along with everyone else. The decor is reminiscent of old hollywood and I find VERY romantic! Ive dined here once and had the filet mignon - it didnt dissapoint. Also had a bottle of pinot grigio with my meal and I thought it was all very affordable.... I already know that if I want to be blown away by the food, ill go to a place that's known for the good food. The bartenders and the entertainment are awesome and if you are ever bored on a Friday or Saturday night, check this place out... It will not dissapoint.

Went for the first time recently and was so pleased. I had stone crab chowder, fried calamari, Caesar salad, and the fried chicken dinner. Everything was delicious. I'll definitely go back. The ambiance and service were great. People who know me know that I don't give false compliments and am very critical. I couldn't find anything to criticize. The owner, Jeffrey, is a real charmer. I'll definitely be back when I visit South Florida.

I've finally got around to checking out the Upper EastSide's famous Magnum Lounge and it didn't disappoint. It's kinda like Fox's Sherron Inn over in South Miami, only it's mostly a gay hangout. There are a lot of noticeable similarities to both spots. They're both very dimly lit, both feature an old school atmosphere, and both have a slightly spendy menu featuring mostly meat. While Fox's has kinda been taken over by a college crowd, Magnum is mostly older and gay, but the good news is that they welcome us all. Just don't go there expecting to pick up on any hot girls. You're more likely to pony up to the bar and meet some cougar's mother. No matter, everyone there is upbeat and friendly. It might have something to do with the piano player, disco ball, and guest singers. I guess anyone can accompany the piano player and sing a song. Maybe like karaoke set up. I'm not sure. I didn't dare go anywhere near the piano. I enjoyed my cocktails from a safe distance. Coward I might be. Virtuoso singer, I am not : )

Wow, wait a minute, Genvieve what is this place... Ahh - what a great establishment , the vibe in there is just low - cool and way chill. If I lived in Miami this would be my spot to go to after pay day, first dates, birth day's, and the place to entertain out of towners. I have only been here once as and we sat at the bar for cocktails. The bar tender was cool- even though he made a remark when we order Mojitos - in his defence they are a pain to make - but hey I'm so close to Cuba and I'm from Cali. Unfortunately we only had drinks since this was our first destination on our tour of a Miami night out- but I did have my eye's on the Calamari plate and from the looks- O.M.G. i'm still hunted. As noted in other reviews the duo singing makes the place even more "marry" , I was there in December and when walking out of this place , I really thought it was going to snow in Miami.

ok im giving the 3 stars to be extra nice.. but really im thinking 2.5 is more appropriate!! arrived at magnum about 930ish found parking in the very tight parking lot and headed inside.. the bar area is really cool, it was packed almost all the way around. then i saw the piano.. soo much fun. the guys were singing (complete with boas wrapped around their necks) people were actually sitting at the piano and eating and drinking. had never seen that before, and that coolness is what bumped from 2.5 to 3 stars!! so we were seated within 5 minutes, the host was a really nice guy! we review the menu, and everyone decides on their dish of choice. our food took a pretty long time, a little too long between appetizers and entrees. luckily we had the little bread basket with those amazing fluffy and delicious beignets. the calamari was barely decent. extremely chewy, which imho is not a good thing. the french onion soup was just ok, nothing special there. the crab quesadillas should have been called spinach quesadillas as that was the overwhelming ingredient with a sprinkle of crab meat. i know its a tough economy, but ggeezzz.. the pistachio crusted chicken at $22 was barely alright. i mean if paying over 20 bucks for chicken im expecting to be wowed and i wasnt. it was pretty bland and honestly a small piece of chicken breast. someoone else ordered the special, short ribs, and they were all fat!! the dessert cart looked amazing with many great options, but we just settled for the rest of the beignets in the bread basket. the host brought us complimentary port for our after dinner drink which was a nice touch. overall the best part of this place is the piano bar, i would go back to sit at the bar for drinks only, eat elsewhere beforehand..

Wow, what I great place !! I took my wife for some drinks after we had dinner on saturday night and I was really surprised by the entire place. Great location, great decor and music. On this occasion, there were a couple of older ladies singing tunes from the 30's and 40's and it was great .. drinks were cheap, three merlots and two glennlevit = $48 with a healthy tip included ! I highly recommend this place for someone looking for something different, this is the cure for sobe-itis !

Love it, what can i say. Brothel-esque decor meets campy piano bar-restaurant. Very good food, friendly host and service. Dinner and a show-what's not to love? Come on, one more over-the-top show tune before they bring dessert. Always entertaining, never dull and ever great. Magnum is not TGIFridays-so don't expect ginormous portions. And it is not typical Miami chic, so if you are looking for that well you can find it, um, everywhere else.

After reading so many great reviews, I had to see this place for myself. The place was easy to find and parking was secured despite the fact that it's in a seedy area of town. Walking inside you feel like you are entering another world. It's very dark and red. There is a large bar right in front of you with the piano and singer dividing the bar from the dining room. We arrived early and had drinks and were pleasantly surprised to be seated in the booth right next to the piano. The wine list was small, unpretentious, and very well priced. Most of the bottles are in the $35 range. However, the servers are just as happy to get you a beer or cocktail. They basically give you doughnut holes as your bread service and of course those were yummy. We also ordered calamari for our appetizer and thought it was some of the better calamari we've ever had. The service is deliberately slow, because of course, you are there just to chill and relax while you listen to the piano and singer, who were great by the way. My wife ended up ordering the crab cakes and I had the half duck for our entrees. Both were great. The portions were pretty large so admittedly I started getting a food coma while waiting for the dessert but I was happy, that's all that matters in the end. The desserts were equally delicious and the owner ended it all with some port wine. Very classy, very chill. If I have to give this place any negative criticism at all, it would be the bathroom situation. Basically, the bathrooms are wide open(no door) and my wife and I employed the gate guard method to ensure we could go in privacy. I found the prices of the food and drink to be very reasonable. No entree was more than $27. So, two beers at the bar, a bottle of wine, appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts came out to ~$150 after tip. Next time we will share a dessert because we left there absolutely stuffed.

I gave into going to this place after having scores of friends tell me it was more than worth a shot and boy am I glad. Food is better than you would think especially for a lounge but the drinks are the real draw. Went with a group of buddies and everyone absolutely loved it. Great live music and a solid wine list are a big plus.

after reading jordan's review, i was uber intrigued. i just got back from taking my girlfriend to a super early dinner here. and wow, what a place! yeah, the neighborhood is shady (it's pretty much the corner of biscayne and 79th), but man... when you walk through the doors you're no longer in miami. the ambiance is fantastic. it's like nothing i've ever seen down here. actually reminds me of a few places in n.y. well, since it was 6 pm, we apparently were the first ones there for dinner. we plopped ourselves in a very comfy private booth in the corner and surveyed our surroundings. darkly lit, a long wooden bar, big comfy red booths, old wine prints hanging on the walls. too f-ing cool. we even said, 'hey, if the food sucks, i'd still come back to drink. we then ordered some tasty wine from oregon. and snacked on the different kinds of fresh baked bread. i forget what our waiter called them, but in the basket were these little breads that tasted and resembled the fried dough you get at carnivals. they were delicious. we killed all of them! i ordered the snapper covered in crab meat in a lobster sauce. it was pretty tasty. i think i would've like a little more flavor in the sauce, but it was still damn good. and my girlfriend got the fillet done med-rare. it was delicious. perfectly cooked and flavored. we both weren't huge fans of the mashed potatoes that came with our meals, but all-in-all our meals were both very good. and the drip coffee was delicious (i wanted a cappuccino but our waiter suggested otherwise, and i'm glad he did). we both killed the bread and our meals so there was no room for dessert, but he still rolled over the dessert cart. i must admit they all looked delicious, and i'll be sure to save room next time. the crowd was very random. some old couples. a couple groups. a few couples hidden in dark corners. even looking at all of them (from what i could make out), i felt like they were thinking the same thing, 'what random people at this random, wonderful place' we absolutely plan on going back! i thought the place was fabulous. so unusual and so enjoyable. one of the best restaurants in the upper eastside. UPDATE... tried to take a friend on friday night. the parking lot was completely full. we figured we'd give it a shot even though we knew it'd be crowded. well we could barely even get inside there were so many people. the owner was trying to find a way to fit us, but it didn't seem like it was gonna happen anytime soon. now i know... MAKE RESERVATIONS on the weekend!!! it was a completely different vibe then when we went early on a weeknight.

I don't come here just for the food/beverages, I come because of the unique and spectacular atmosphere. It really has the perfect vibe; at least for me. I ate there tonight and had a great time eating, talking with friends, and listening to great Piano music and opera style voices on the mic. The decorations are awesome and semi-erotic. The bathrooms are very raunchy, yet artistic. The beers are always cold. I'm a big fan of both the indoor and outdoor area. As far as the food goes, the soup de jour today was a vegetable soup that was surprisingly and delightfully spicy. The buffalo mozzerella salad is amazing in it's own right partly due to the amazing proscuitto you're presented with. The balsamic vinegar is flavored with onions and mini fruits to give it extra "pazang." The quality of the meat is also very good. Its a hybridization of a dive bar, a fancy restaurant, and an overall classy place with a New York/Bohemian feel to it.

I wrote a review of The Magnum on 2/20/13 So this is an update. I'm sad to say that Jeffrey who had been the owner for 15 years has sold the place. Jeffrey was a host that few could find elsewhere. He cast his magic spell over the entire establishment and created an ambiance that was so warm one felt like one was entering the home of a beloved friend. Now there is no one to greet you at the door. a few familiar faces of the waiters remain but all I could do is imagine Jeffrey still standing there by the little podium. Yes one person can create an atmosphere that will disappear when they're gone I went there last Friday to hear the always wonderful Rick and Carla and as usual they did not disappoint. Where and who s this new owner who obviously has no clue of how to run this place. I had asked to be on their E Mail address so that I would know who was playing at the piano bar, but alas, no E Mails have arrived. Come on new owner get with it, it's not just about making money it's so much more than that. Stand at the entrance and say" welcome to my place" and when you do mean it. You see that's the magic!

I'm not really one for fine dining, let me tell you. I'd much rather go somewhere loud and enjoy a beer and some wings, but that's mostly attributed to how uncomfortable I've been made to feel in the finer dining atmosphere. I was here last night with my family, celebrating my sister's arrival into town, and the waitress was PHENOMENAL. I don't recall her name. She was a little older, maybe in her late 40s or early 50s and she carries herself with such grace and poise. She smiled, made the experience personalized by chatting with my family and me. She helped us to pick a good red wine, and trust me, I enjoy wine, but I'm no connoisseur. The food was great, the drinks were great, and the service was impeccable. I will definitely be coming back to see her again.

My first Miami date in October 2012 took place here, so this joint calls to mind fond memories. Naturally. I've never tried the food (outside the calamari) because I'm incredibly poor and can't fathom spending 20 something dollars on pasta, chicken or anything I can scrape up at home for basically nothing. But if anyone were to offer to take me, I'd go for the chicken, the pasta and, well, you get my point. It looks, smells and is described to be amazing. The piano dudes cater a normally older crowd, but you may find a hipster or two too-cool for Twist, Score and the other more sexually infused soirees. Most people under 40 will likely know nothing of the songs they speak of, but luckily my mom has good taste so I'm hip to a good percentage of what they play. I'm often strumming along in a black hole as to avoid the spotlight, and tipping...I tip people who bring me food and serve me drinks, I've never quite understood the concept of tipping a singer, a drag queen, the gas station clerk. Stab me if you will. But the piano dudes are usually always excited to see such a young face in the house that I'm almost always coerced into sitting along the piano and offering up songs to sing, my dollars conveniently tucked away for that next $4 happy hour (all-day) margarita. The outside shack is my usual go-to spot. No real eye-candy. A few regulars who are nice no less. Find 'em pitched before the bar gunnin sticks or slung over second-hand sofas adjacent to. A maze towards back leads to an old shed housing an unused glory hole evoking this bars promiscuous past. It's since grown up, and it's to date my favorite gay haunt in the hood, and likely, all of Miami.

The four of us went there today to have dinner. Half of the place was running on a generator. it was warm, but we stayed anyhow and enjoyed a wonderful dinner , and great service. The generator ran out....somebody who I thought was the owner came to the table with a whole bunch of candles and with an attitude to kick us out. The manager offered another table. I complained to the manager about his attitude...to my surprise "the alleged owner" was THE PIANO PLAYER. The manager was nice and apologized , BUT, she allowed that NOBODY with no authority to go on. She should have MADE HIM apologize to us, since, in spite of the fact that the place was already without power, they sat and served us anyhow , and we were nice and never asked for anything for free in compensation for allowing to be sat and served in a hot place without ac and electricity. I guess one has to be rude, demanding and a b**** to get a simple " I am sorry". That is Miami for you.

Once on my favorite list but not now! I ordered a Veal Cutlet - if what I got was really veal it was not well prepared-dry and tough. A good pork schnitzel would have been better. Whichever it was it wasn't what I expected from my past experience there.

What a gem! Came here late on a Friday with high hopes since I've heard nothing but good things. I was not disappointed. Since my +1 used to be a regular (he used to perform there), he gave me a grand tour which included the separated patio lounge and then lead me inside where most of the guests are. The darkness takes a bit to get used to, but it's charming, cozy, and sexy all in one. We didn't order any food, just drinks and a side of awesome live music. Places like Magnum are in my experience few and far between in Miami, which makes it all that more special. Will definitely come back to check out some of the other live acts.

I came here already drunk with a group of friends with a specific goal of getting more drunk. I can't tell you everything I ordered, (although I do remember a delicious Calamari and a very strong Manhattan), what I can tell you is that this place has an amazing vibe. We opted for seating at the bar versus their very cozy tables, obviously to be closer to alcohol, but I'm so glad we did because the bartenders killed the customer service as well as making delicious drinks. The bill was pretty high, but easily justified by the great service, quality (generous alcohol ratio) and great singing at this piano bar. Will definitely visit again on a date or with friends.

Was hesitant to eat here since the place was recommended to me as a piano bar. However I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The menu is somewhat limited and consists of nouveau American cuisine. My party tried the calamari appetizer, salmon, fried chicken, crab cakes, and pistachio encrusted chicken as entrees. The fried chicken was delicious and the serving plentiful. The salmon was quite good also. The person who had the pistachio encrusted chicken was not pleased with it and found it to be dry. The restaurant is small and therefore can get noisy. The pianist was entertaining and engaged the crowd but not in an invasive manner. I think I would like to come here again but it is so far from everything, which is an inconvenience, and in a questionable neighborhood. The venue is under new ownership although I heard from others that it had previously been around for over 30 years.

A gem. My first Internet date in Miami and she said she'd show me a cool place away from the usual tourist Miami Beach stuff. I was surprised in every way. It looked like a ghetto situation driving there from the beach late but ended up being a real culinary delight. Don't know how it is now but this place was a very pleasant experience ..

Can I give this place 10 stars???? Oh please Yelp?? I LOVEEE Magnum, it is as good as it gets and them some. Great music, showtunes, piano, delicious food, seductive ambiance and spot on service. What More Can You Ask For??? I come here as often as I can and with my move closer to the area, I will be here even more. I love ALL their plates (well no, I did not enjoy the crab quesadilla and neither did my date that night). Although, everything else is great. I have tried either by ordering myself or trying other people's food. SO delicious. Even my stingy brothers do not mind coming by here and spending a bit of cash :) I went here for my birthday and they made the night very special. Even let one of my friends sing for me while the piano played the song she chose :) I felt like a superstar! They always greet you as if they have known you for years and the host always brings an after dinner cocktail, which is yummy. This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Miami and I know plenty of people who share in the same feeling. I cannot BELIEVE I have not already reviewed this place but THANK YOU Yelp for reminding me:) See you at Magnum! .

A reunion with a friend from the past couldn't have taken place in a better locale than the funky, fun and almost retro environment of Magnum Lounge - a darkened little cave of delights that combines, and it works, a mix of octogenarians singing show tunes and a bevy of queens of all ages working the piano bar and hustling and bustling as waiters. Somehow I feel as if I myself am in an off broadway production and when we emerge from the light we'll be on 42nd Street and not Miami's hardscrabble 79th street neighborhood. What really pulls the ambience all together is not the screeching renditions of Chorus Line oldies but goodies (although I think there is something to be said for hearing "One Singular Sensation" more than twice in one night could cause some to lose t heir appetite) is their food. The food is really phenomenal. My gleeful companion opted for a scrumptious seafood quesadilla while I tackled a plate of fried chicken and mashed potatoes that could have fed two of me (and it did as the rest I took home became a late night snack - perfect munchie food). Our dessert which was an Argentine rendition of a banana pudding cake had so much delightful graham cracker crust and whipped cream it was the stuff food-gasms are made of. They have a full bar and a tasteful wine list to boot. I think Evita is around the corner and going to be playing at the Arsht Center in May so maybe when I'm feeling brave enough to belt out "Dont' Cry for Me Argentina" I'll be back to show 'em how its done and try some of the other mouth watering menu items.

Magnum Lounge is definitely a nice fun place to be. The crowd is basically gay with a number of lesbians and few straights tossed in which add up to being a good, diverse, entertaining mixture of people. Add to that the very good bartenders, great live piano music, a dim red, sort of velvet/cabaret décor, some pretty good food and you generally have winner of a winner of a place. There is also the outside Shack Bar which tends to be very relaxed, serving some really good cocktails. It's really nice to be able to go outside, catch a breath of fresh air and have a change of atmosphere without having to do any pub crawl or bar hopping. I'm a fan of the place, but there are some downsides, like being located on 79th street in Miami. That area is certainly far from being even on the moderate let alone on the upscale of things. I certainly wouldn't care to venture outside of the fenced in, gated area. Then, though the food is pretty darn good, it isn't any bargain considering the prices charged. The service, however, seemed to be good, attentive and accommodating. Parking can also be a little shaky as the lot inside the fence fills up rather quickly as the place is clearly popular.

Great place!! The ambience brought me back in the 50's as soon as i came in... Dimmed lit hallway, red painted walls with pictures all over, and a warm environment. .. this place exudes a lot of flavor! Carl and Russel were singing when i came in. These two were awesome!! They could sing almost anything from different decades.. the 60's, 70's, contemporary ones, or even broadway shows like the Sound of music, Les Miserables, Dreamgirls, etc., Oh, I was in heaven belting out from my seat!! The crowd seemed to have a lot of fun too as they sing along!! The food was great, their fried chicken is out of this world!! The dessert cart was filled with attractive treats... my sweet tooth was really satisfied! The staff are fantastic...great service, and friendly environment! I would have never expected to find this sparkling jewel in this part of Miami! Definitely a place to check out!

5 star atmosphere 5 star singing 5 star piano playing 5 star lighting. Loved the music, the drinks, the non-pretentiousness....

This place is special, it lots of different things: bar, lounge, piano bar, restaurant; everything fused together, so its hard to review but I will keep it down to the food. Great service, personable and attentive (mind you, it was tuesday). Food was pretty good and it was a lot of it, it can be a bit pricey for the area. The added entertainment is a nice touch (if you are into show tunes), we had a romantic school day dinner :)

Bartenders are lovely. Lounge is gorgeous, ambiance is elegant and the music is quite wonderful. I went with friends for a cocktail and some live Piano music. A huge draw back on this gem of a lovely piano bar is that smoking is allowed after the restaurant stops serving dinner and kitchen is closed.

The salad was great but the stuffing of my flounder dish was sour. Kind of disappointed because I had a great meal here before.

AH-MAZING!!!! Great atmosphere, owner is super super nice, amazing music, great local spot, and great drinks!!!! I've driven past this place a million times and would have never known that such an awesome place existed there! Will definitely be back! It's a great place to come with friends and perfectly intimate for couples. The crowd is fantastic too, no one bothers you! Just top notch all the way!

Dinner with friends tonight. Music volume was so loud, we had to nearly scream to hear each other. Mediocre food, over-priced, plenty of drunks to keep you company. This is a bar with a piano, and that's about all...

Dépaysement! French lesson of the day: this word means a change of scenery, being out of your element... Magnum Lounge is the last place I would expect to find in Miami but rather in New York or in Europe. A piano bar is by definition a place for live music in a more intimate setting. Nice lounge music, a crooner singing, I half expect to see elderly couples dancing around... when I entered the room, I traveled back in time. Very 1920's, red everywhere, a boa hanging behind the piano, me lip singing "Your song", a birthday celebration with a small Yelp crowd to criticize everything... a delightful evening. Happy Birthday JL! Not familiar with the area I still found the place easily. From the outside the lounge is not attracting your eye but once you get in you feel somewhere else. I love the atmosphere here, very relaxing. The food seemed to be average in general. A nice choice in the menu: calamari, conch fritters, jumbo shrimps, crab cakes, escargot, ... for appetizers. Entrees seemed a bit pricey: lamb, roast pork,... Nothing exceptional for my mouth. My escargots were nice with creamy blue cheese sauce, the kind of soufflé that came with it was not the best thing to add. Desserts seemed very sugary: chocolate and peanut butter cake, milky way cake, cherry cheesecake. Tried a few bites from the first two... not a fan. This is a place to come for its nice setting and atmsophere but not for a culinary extasy. Still a lovely place for a romantic date ;)

A piano bar perfect for downing classic cocktails in a glamorous, drastically dark, and red all over setting straight out of old NY, some long-forgotten Hollywood film, or a tiny, hidden, side-street, European town. Basically, a charmer! Once my eyes adjusted to the dark, it was love at first blurry sight. This place is all burlesque, boudoir, red. There is no cocktail menu just order a classic, I'd suggest a martini, the dirtier, the better, get filthy. There is a small, one-page bar menu. The piano man serenades you all night and if you ask nicely he takes requests. For the record I asked for The Way We Were... I had to. Our waiter like a pianist is a NYer which only added to the charm. He even scolded us to get off our phones when he was reciting the night's specials. The beignets are everything the reviews said they were, sweet, fluffy, addicting. As for the food, from the reviews I gather this place is hit or miss and I missed last night. The star of my dining experience was the mashed potatoes. The lamb and crab cakes missed the mark for me. The escargot was ok but not great. The jumbo shrimp with sweet chili sauce was the best appetizer. I hope I have better luck next time. We did score some complimentary round of port wine shots. A round of sweet drinks and a sweet toast. I was told "all diners receive this complimentary wine." I'm not sure why every bachelorette party doesn't start here and why more women aren't flocking here for GNOs (Girls Night Out) but I know I'll be back for a song and a cocktail and maybe some mashed potatoes.

I like the mystique behind it. Regardless if its a Gay bar, I actually dont find it so gay..is that a proper term? The piano special is on Fridays, you gotta get there early to grab a spot & let the divatitude start on its own. Its a good show, and the drinks are pretty cheap.

We had fun, came here with my gf they had Good drinks and they had live music with a pretty good piano player and very good singer. She mainly sang jazz songs that was also a plus. For the first 30 minutes i was like well these guys seem to be very friendly, actually super friendly and kept pointing it out to my GF. After seeing the dudes making out over a love song i was like oh thats why lol. Anyways it is a good time, if you are into guys you might find yourself someone in there if you just like the live music and a bartender that can fix you a good old fashioned it works for you too. Overall a pleasant experience.

A tad frightening when you walk in from the outside but it is a little gem in miami once you walk in. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Fridays/Saturdays seem to be the most fun nights.

Born and raised in Miami I love finding new spots (new to me) to check out because I get very tired of the same old same old. Thanks to my fellow yelpers I discovered Magnums and visited over the weekend with my boyfriend and loved it. What makes this piano bar so amazing is that the drinks are so cheap!!! $6 for a black on the rock, $6 for a premium vodka cosmo! Umm yes please! Premium drinks at these prices are pretty much the key to my heart and guarantee I will return. Another factor that separates this piano bar from any other bar in Miami is the service. Most places you go bartenders are rude and just want your money. Here the staff is so nice and really make you feel like they are happy you are there and want to make sure you are enjoying yourself. What impressed me the most is when the bartender came from behind the bar walked me to a booth and poured my martini for me fresh from the shaker and later on in the night came again from behind the bar to make sure my boyfriend and I were enjoying our drinks. This is the first and only time I have received that type of service from a bartender. The bar is on the part of Biscayne where it starts dipping towards a not so good area but they have parking in their back lot which is free and they have an attendant siting outside keeping an eye on the cars so there is no need to worry. The inside is decorated very nicely and reminds me of a romantic dimly lit French bar. On a night where you are looking to do something different and not break the bank this is definitely a place worth checking out. Thank you Magnum for the great service! We will be back very soon!

So I went back to Magnum Lounge this past Saturday for my friend Jackie S' surprise party. Once again had a great time. Let me stress that one of the best things about this place is the food. The fish dip is heaven. The French onion soup is the best I have ever had. Piano player was the same one from last time. He's great. Takes request and all. Once again had a GREAT time at this place. My favorite little secret location in South Florida.

I joined a group of friends to celebrate a dear friends birthday party! My only problem with the place was that they did not have our seating available that we had reserved. We where a bit cramped! Party of 10 sitting in a table for 6, and they added a small end table. =( Its a dark and very cute place. Great crowd and the piano man was very enthused, although of course the one song i asked for, "whatever Lola wants" by Ela Fitzgerald he didn't know. FML! I had the french onion soup and although everyone Loved it, i thought it was just OK. I've had better. sorry. I am quite sure that I'll revisit this place with my friends who adore it and maybe I'll have a better review next time. I'll be back magnum lounge, but this time you better have my table!

Yelpers, YOu have to go to Magnum Piano Lounge. This place is so RAD. I went for the fisrt time last Friday and the next day too (saturday), I fall in love with this place. I spent the whole night there. I have never seen a place like this in Miami; I felt like I was in some urban bar in New York . It has three different areas which are: 1. Karaoke Little House. Which is located in a separate buillding (a few steps from the main piano bar.) 2. Pation, with red couches and zebras couches. 3. Piano Bar (smoker's zone) 4. Dinning Room. (same floor as Piano bar) inside its really dark, the walls are red, red velvet curtains, and the interior design its ecclectic with a touch of the french traditional. I don't know how to describe the type of music, I will called it showtune music or standar music, because most of the live music was like old musical movies. Oh! And its not a gay bar even though most of the people that go are gay.

You could walk right by if you werent looking for it. Through the back door and into a comfortable speakeasy interior. Piano centered between the dining room and bar area. I brought my boyfriend here for valentines and Jeffrey's(the proud owner) delivered. The singers were asking for requests from each of the couples which gave the start treatment. Then dinner started and it was delicious. We shared crab cakes which were tasty and chock full of crabmeat. I had the salmon which was a huge portion and my bf had the banana snapper and his piece of fish was awesome. The snapper was a larger piece of fish than mine and was mouthwatering. We were so full and pleased when we left! Only note I would make would be after you leave, drive or have a cab waiting for you. Not the easiest place to grab a taxi.

I couldn't believe how tasty the Homestyle Chicken was DELICIOUS - the lighting, the staff, the music was all amazing. The owners are definately focusing on service and retention of each patron. I loved it and will return - only problem was that the portion of the side items was too little for the price which is also a bit up there. Never the less I will be back and tell my friends!:)

This place is fantastic! When you get there you might be a little concerned about the neighborhood and the exterior appearance, but there are lots of good things happening inside. These are exactly the kinds of places that can turn a neighborhood around, or bring it back! It is very "gay friendly", but there are all kinds of people and couples in the crowd. It's very kool to be somewhere like this, live and let live! The food was very good quality. We Loved the pate appetizer, but weren't crazy about the ceviche. Fried chicken was good, mash was very good, gravy excellent! Key lime pie excellent, black coffee with a little cinnamon, excellent! Service EXCELLENT! The piano bar thing going-on during dinner, a lot of fun! You can sing at your table, or go to the mike, it's all good! I felt like I was eating dinner at a party! At the end of my dinner I said I can't wait to come back! Have not seen anything like this in Miami! Love it!

Dear Magnum, Te amo. Te amo mucho mucho, muchísimo! So tried and true, you have never failed me. Your dirty martinis, the best in town, have saved my life on numerous occasions. Your staff and entertainment, fabulous, lovely, friendly, warm, always take me to a happy place. A happy place with boas, red lights, fried chicken, show tunes, cocktails and a desert cart. In other words, dear Magnum, my happy place is you. You you and only you. Yours always, Masha

Magnum lounge is incredible!! The piano is playing, the show tunes are belted out, the food is served...and what DELICIOUS food it is!!! The best food I've had at any restaurant thus far! There were these little fried-doughy-breads with powdered sugar on top...TO DIE FOR!! The cheesecake is like none I have ever tasted. Everything was just so fresh!! The food is reason enough to take a trip to Magnum! We really enjoyed the show tunes too and the piano playing. It was so much fun!! The only thing I have to say against it is that the drinks aren't the best and the waiter got our order mixed up. But everything else is so great we had to overlook that. Make sure to make a trip to Magnum. You won't regret it!!
