Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I am so upset that it took me so long to get here! We have lived downtown for almost 8 yrs now and always had such a difficult time coming here because of the hours. We finally came straight from work one day. I love the indoor decor. It's nice, quaint, and cozy. Ironically, the music is awesome. It's not like soft Italian music playing in the background. It's oldies and hits. Sets a fun tone for the night. We started off with the calamari. Oh me gee delicious. Cooked perfectly. The breading wasn't too heavy and it was fresh. The tomato sauce it came with was so yummy. It wasn't sweet and had a little bit of a bite to it. For our main course I ordered the orrechiette, this was phenomenal. It came with chicken, mushrooms, in a garlicky cheese sauce. It is a great portion too. I had two meals for $15. My mother ordered the bolognese. I normally don't like meat sauces but this was the perfect combination of favors. I would stay away from the cannolis. Wasn't a fan. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because of the wine list. It's small and has very few Italian wines. We will definitely be frequenting this hot spot before we leave Miami! Soooooo yummy!!

Staple in downtown Miami. Great $10 pasta deals every Monday, and Edgard (host/waiter) makes the experience feel like a treat every time.

This restaurant is amazing for delivery! I order about 5 times a week. The steak and potatoes are super delicious. The customer service is even better.

DOWNTOWN LUNCH SPOT I'm sincerely starting to naturally gravitate to this downtown Italian lunch spot. Confidently I can say that the late "King of Torts" Melvin Belli would have approved this venue for a tasty and filling lunch. Visual discovery indicates large servings of pasta. So we tread lite sharing an order of veal carpaccio. Next our proactive server splits and delivers our meatless flawless al dent penne pomodoro. In between bites the chibatta bread is dipped into the olive oil speckled with black pepper along with granules of sea salt. The verdict is La Loggia Restaurante is a primo downtown lunch spot.

I came here on Thursday evening after a rough day at work. I sat at the bar (restaurant wasn't too crowded) and ordered a whiskey sour to start. Drink was made promptly and efficiently just as I requested. The bartender (didn't catch his name) was a great guy who heard me out as I told him about my day. I had skipped lunch that day so I ordered the lobster ravioli. The dish was cooked perfectly and wasn't too filling. The ravioli were filled with delicious lobster and coated in a pink cream sauce (could definitely taste an undercurrent of tomato). Fortunately, I was given a generous helping of bread which helped to mop up any leftover sauce. That ravioli really hit the spot after a rough day, and the impeccable service made the experience even better. Thank you, La Loggia, for making my evening dinner the best part of my day.

Beyond the Atmosphere and the menued items this has to be one of Miami's best hidden Italian gems . The cheese ravioli with pink vodka sauce is a must , the owners are incredibly attentive and the staff follows suit , I give these guys 5 stars all the way !
(5)Christopher C.
Pretty decent Italian Joint... I went for the first time tonight, and therefore have only had one meal to judge it by. I went in the evening for dinner. The place is huge inside and the ambiance is nice. There was two other parties dining at the time. I suspect most of their traffic is at lunch, like most of downtown, but I'm glad they are open for evening hours. I chose the veal piccata, something I try often. The sauce was decent overall. It did not blow me away, but it was good. The veal was pounded thin, as it should be. It was not as tender as I would have liked...and a bit fatty. The service was OK as well. I had a nice, pleasant and cute waitress that took her job seriously. I was happy to have been able to use a 20% off coupon from the yelp app, which made the meal nicely priced. I will return to try their pasta next.
(3)Blake J.
The salad was wilted, the pasta was too al dente, the seats were too close to the kitchen, etc. It's a nice place but the food seems mediocre.
(1)Katherine G.
After not eating here in a long while I retuned to order my favorite salmon penne with vodka sauce...and not only has the price gone up dramatically (to $18!!), the quality and quantity has gone down. No more asparagus or other veggies--just green onions. Less pasta and salmon, too. Sad. Not retuning.

I love this place! It looks very nice and spacious inside. I had the steak salad and it was one of the special; it looked amazing and tasted soo wonderful! I'm not really a salad person but this one won me over. Every single piece was great! And the portion was very good too. I didnt want to give it a 5 star because there was a small metal in my plate. When I told the waiter, she didnt apologize right away and didnt say anything until I called for the bill. God the apology in the end but I think the service can be better. It was not cool but the manager took care of it so all was good. And I dont want this small detail ruin my good plate! Also the bread was a little bit salty for my taste but breads were soft and tasted good! Overall it was a pleasant exp for me and I would come back if I have a chance.

I got delivery from La Loggia an was thoroughly unimpressed. The delivery came quickly, only about 45 minutes but the pasta I ordered (the bolognese) was very uninspired. The pasta was cooked well but needed to be seasoned and the sauce was also bland. I was going to rate only 2 stars but the cannoli was the best i've had in Miami and that in itself is worth a star! Leave the pasta, take the cannoli
(3)Jennifer F.
My tilapia was served generously with rice and broccoli. I found the fish to have too much butter on it. The dish was overwhelmed with too many competing flavors and then topped with butter: jasmine almond rice with dried fruit, broccoli and butter coated tilapia. I bet Paula Dean would dig it! The bartender was very snobby and rather aloof. Whatever. I care about the service at the table and food. Our waitress was lovely. For a quick bite after a courthouse stop, this is a respectable spot.

This place is a Downtown tradition. Great for lunch - the best for Happy Hour, and an incredible spot for an intimate dinner in Downtown Miami. Everyone's here on Friday night. So why the five stars? The Chicken Salad with Basil and Apple for lunch; the Black Linguini at dinner -- the Mango Cheescake anytime.
(5)Susan D.
I love coming to La Loggia during my business/pleasure trips to Miami. The restaurant is a little pocket of excitment in the downtown area, especially during Friday happy hours. I love the orecchiette and the spinach ravioloi since I usually do a pasta, but their specials are always tempting. Once, during a happy hour they passed around salmon appetizers that were amazing (but not on the menu). The churrasco is delectable too. However, my absolute go to item is the chocolate souffle. I once ordered it to go since i was too full just so i could enjoy it on my way home the next day. The restaurant is beautiful and upbeat, and the staff very professional. La Loggia gives downtown life in the evening and sets the pace for lunch in the area. I wish I could eat there more often.
(5)Krupa H.
I came here for lunch today and I will be coming back for more. The atmosphere is great and the place is very well decorated. This would be a great place to go on a date as well. The bread that they give you in the beginning is so fresh and you will want a couple more baskets of it. I ordered the spinach and cheese ravioli with the pink sauce and I almost licked the plate. Parking stinks during lunch hour, but the food is good at an even better price.
(4)Christie A.
I am rarely in the downtown area for lunch, but when I am, I usually go to La Loggia. Great food, good prices, nice ambiance, great people watching, nice looking men in suits (Hey, I am married, but I can look at the menu! lol), and a DELICIOUS tiramisu!!!! My friends that work in the downtown area also tell me that they have a great happy hour here.
(4)Luisa C.
Great place across Miami Courthouse. Whenever I went by here I thought that most seating was in the immediate entrance area and outside, but I was totally wrong. Once you walk in and pass the bar there is a big section with tables and chairs. Service was fairly quick and prices are decent for the location. They do offer lunch specials as well. What impressed me were their pasta dishes, some of which are home-made. When I come back for dinner (btw: if you check through Yelp.com you get a 20% off coupon for dinner) I will give one of those a try. We were greeted with a basket of fresh ciabatta / pizza like bread and evoo/vingegar. I had the grilled vegetable salad which came with 3 pieces of fresh mozzarella, grilled eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, red peppers and a good amount of asparagus. I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side, but boy was I glad that slipped my mind. Whatever they put on there was a great balsamic vinaigrette in just the right amount. I ordered a side of grilled chicken with it, which was approx. 4 oz, well prepared -according to my standards and I eat and cook chicken quiet a lot with the figure competing as my hobby. Although I must say this place lacks flair it does make up for it with the great service and food. Great Italian lunch spot in Downtown Miami for sure.

Was there on their opening night and have to continue to go there through the years. They are consistent in both their service and their food. Always enjoy it.
(4)Ute L.
First off, beware they are not open on weekends, since their primary clientele are attorneys and other staff from the court house across the street. You guessed it, they get packed at lunch and might see a happy hour crowd in the early evening. The interior is actually much bigger and nicer than it looks from the outside. The food is traditional Italian (obviously) with a few healthful (hello Miami) menu options, such as whole wheat pasta or pizza crust. The portions are very small, similar to what one might get in Europe, but the prices are high. Don't get me wrong, I prefer a small serving of quality food over a big helping of whatever any day of the week; I just don't think their prices are justified. Take the $15 antipasto platter, for example. Hardly enough to share. You get a few measly slices of ham, cheese, olives and roasted vegetables. The vegetables are chilled and too oily. That platter was hardly worth $5. The salmon dinner entree with vegetables was also very small. They butterflied the salmon to stretch their portion size, overcooked it and the vegetables consisted of literally two small broccoli rosettes. I call that garnish, not a side. Finally, a winner, seafood risotto. Small portion here as well, but satisfying, creamy and delicious. The rice was cooked perfectly (Gordon Ramsey would be so proud), with a little bite in the center. Love the pink sauce but the seafood was mostly frozen calamari rings with a single shrimp on top. For $19, I expect a couple of scallops and some more shrimp thrown in. Desserts were surprisingly not so tiny and very good. The mango cheesecake was creamy. I've definitely had much better cheesecakes, so I recommend the chocolate soufflé. Nice portion, perfect liquid center, not too sweet, delectable. Without the chocolate soufflé (I am such a sucker for dark chocolate) this would be 2 stars.

This place only gets business because it is the ONLY sit down restaurant on the West side of downtown Miami. Mediocre food and only good for a close meetup after work, if you work in Downtown Miami.
(2)Oka A.
Great service and great staff. I tried one there signature martinis and was amazed of the quality and flavor.mmm
(5)John D.
Wow, where did this place come from? Whoever expected such a nice Italian restaurant in downtown Miami? It is so much like a cool New York style restaurant it almost seems out of place. The pasta dishes and pizzas are outstanding, but all the food is delicious. Best of all are the prices. I couldn't believe that food this good could be this inexpensive.

My boyfriend found this restaurant on restaurant dot com. 90% off coupon code meant $1 for a $25 certificate. Sweet! Off to La Loggia we were headed. Okay...so on yelp it's posted that the restaurant is open till 10pm Mon-Fri. and on the website there were no times posted that I saw. Turns out it closes at 9pm Mon-Thurs. I tried changing that on here but I'm not sure if I did it right. Seeing as we showed up at 8:50pm unknowingly we had quite a surprise. Despite the restaurant closing in ten minutes they still seated us which was very nice of them...especially since we schlepped half an hour to get there. We started off with the mixed Bruschetta appetizer . Out of seven we were allowed to choose two versions for a mixed plate. We ordered the Brie with candied walnuts and grape, and the more traditional tomato and basil. Let me preface this by saying I make flat out amazing Bruschetta which is only beat by my mum's version. I found La Loggia's take on it to be rather boring. The first one mentioned was great in concept but lacking in execution. The traditional version was lacking a punch of flavour. The Caesar salad arrived and was very good. No complaints there. I can't fault this entirely on the restaurant as we did show up rather late by accident, but they pretty much threw the dinner entrees at us at the first opportunity so minus a point on that. I ordered the black linguine with seafood and subbed a pink sauce. It was fabulous! The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was perfectly balanced. My partner in crime ordered the lobster ravioli with a Sambuca pink sauce. I vehemently HATE Sambuca...the smell...the taste...the IDEA make me want to vomit profusely Linda Blair style. I very hesitantly tried his ravioli which was also black. Not a trace of Sambuca that I could sense. The ravioli was bursting with lobster meat. It was quite easily the most delicious lobster ravioli I have ever tried. 5 stars for that alone! If my dish wasn't equally as delicious I would have had buyers remorse not ordering it myself! For dessert we were hit with a dose of indecisiveness. They all sounded so good! The chef made us a tasting platter of four different desserts including Mango cheesecake (boy liked....i thought it was a bit heavy on mango), Tiramisu (good), Chocolate souffle (meh), and guava cheesecake (zomg!! amazing!) So overall: Great ambiance, music, food! We will definitely be going back after I go to the gym for a month straight to recover from last night's carb overdose.

A nice Italian restaurant downtown for lunch or an early dinner. It's near the Miami public libary. The service is fast and the workers are very friendly. My favorites are: a black fetucchini seafood pasta dish, a spaghetti bolonese dish and a pink ravioli dish.

Good spot ! Sautéed calamari are a hit.

They have changed their operating hours and are now open later. I have had this restaurant bookmarked for many years and could never make it there due to them closing at 6pm. On a spree we saw they had changed their hours so we decided to finally give it a try. Parking is either street if your lucky enough to find a spot or the parking lot right next door offers after 5pm a flat rate of $3, cool. They have some outdoor seating and the inside is very long and narrow. The décor is a Tuscan theme, very pretty and relaxing. We started with a bottle of Chianti at a reasonable price. The wine list is decent. Then we had the Calamari. So my daughter and I decided oh yes we are going to like this place. If you can do Calamari this well we were excited to try their pasta. They have specials daily, a very nice selection of menu items, fresh pasta or boxed, meat dishes, seafood, salads, and more. The Foccacia bread they give you is excellent. They heat it up and it is delicious. My daughter ordered the Orecchiette pasta dish and I had the Bolognese. When our entree's arrived we could not believe the size. Literally dinner for two nights, huge portions and so fresh and hot. Wow, first bite and we were in food heaven. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the fresh ingredients and flavor were incredible. Seeing how we love Italian food, this place impressed us so much with their quality of food. The entire dinner I was smacking myself that it took so long to check this place out. The food is a five star all the way, with very reasonable prices as well. The service was friendly but our server played the disappearing act a bit to often. Trying to get water refills and bread turned into a bit of an issue. As we were leaving I spoke with the Manager who was very nice and he told me about the room upstairs for private party's. He was very friendly and it makes me want to have a UYE here. LOVED there food so much. I can see us visiting often. They had a 20% off whole check with a yelp check in as well. Oh very nice!! We are looking so forward to trying many other dishes. GRAZIE!!! XOXOXOX

Funny story. I came into the restaurant and the first thing i saw was people dressed really nice. There was a lady at the front with a computer and she seemed to be checking people in. This made me think that we had to rsvp! I almost walked out the door with my brother. But, my dad pushed us through and asked if there was a dress code and there was none so we entered. The food was good and service was nice. Nice atmosphere. I really liked their decor. Very nice.
(5)Andres G.
Ordered 3 salads and the veal for delivery. The three salads were really good. Great portions and even nice packaging. On the other side , the veal was horrible. After stating that I could not finish that horrible plate, my girlfriend and her sister both tried it to see if it was really that bad. They both thought the same as me and decided to just throw it out with more than 50% percent of the food intact still. So, after paying over $65 for 3 salads ( 2 caprese and 1 burrata) and a veal, I expected to be satisfied to be honest. I regret my decision of trying this place.
(2)C S.
Good solid Italian food. Like eating in Nona's kitchen. Great lunch and happy hour specials. So glad they are open a little later during the week!
(3)Natasha D.
I judge all Italian places by the quality of their gnocchi. Those that pass my test are light, pillowy and have just the right sauce to accompany. La Loggia passed with flying colors. Had it with the pink sauce. During lunchtime this place is packed with attorneys due to the close proximity to the courthouse. The only going that sucked was the parking. $25 at the lot next door. There may have been cheaper options in the area that I overlooked.
(4)Angela H.
Perfectly located across the courthouse and great if you're starving for something that actually has substance and isn't a vending machine snack. The bar sit down area was a quick in and out when I went for lunch. I ordered the strawberry salad and added chicken for under 15 bucks. The salad was large, delish and light enough to keep me awake for the rest of the work day. The candied pecans kept it sweet and the tomatoes and strawberries were fresh. Service started out a little awkward (people gathered in the front which made it seem like I was interrupting) but my waitress was pretty good. I plan on coming back.
(4)Jacqueline B.
I've been working in downtown 30 years and La Loggia has the best Italian fare by far. It's always a treat to come. The place is clean, the ambiance is reminiscent of Italy and the staff are quick and professional. I have two favorite dishes. For pasta, the black linguini is incredible, and believe it or not, the chicken salad. I kid you not. They make this amazing balsamic dressing that is out of this world. The chicken salad is waldorf - with apples and nuts and very little mayo. Served atop a bed of fresh spring greens. If you're watching the calories, this is a terrific alternative. I don't mean to rave about a non-pasta dish when most people want pasta! But you can't go wrong with a meal here. If ravioli, gnocchi or penne is your pleasure, you're sure to find a favorite dish here. The pumpkin ravioli is to die for. You should also consider La Loggia if you have a festive occasion with a lot of people. They handle large parties very well. Best to make a reservation, but they are courteous and friendly to make accommodations on the fly as well. People in downtown rave about Fratelli Milano and I have no idea why. La Loggia is 10x times better in both food and service.
(5)Z A.
We visited twice, once for eat-in and once for take-out. We did not like the service or food. The first time we ordered two sandwich-and-soup deals but the service was over an hour and we had to carryout. The salmon soup was surprisingly good. The sandwich was merely adequate. I would not try again. For soup-and-sandwich, go to Cane a sucre. The second time we ordered two Monday special $10 pastas to-go: spinach ravioli in pink sauce and four cheese gnocchi. Both were way too salty and greasy. Service again was about an hour. I do not expect to try a third time.
(1)Stephanie G.
So, I went back to La Loggia for lunch today because it was raining and we didn't want to walk far, etc. I ordered a filet mignon salad off the specials menu and have to say it really was good. I also noticed that the service was much faster today than it normally is, but they were also a lot less busy due to the rain. My only complaint about my experience at La Loggia today would be that the cappuccino I ordered was all milk and didn't have enough coffee in it, so I didn't drink it. As I left the restaurant, the owner (or at least I think she's the owner) approached me to say that she hoped my experience was better than the last. So, she clearly read my previous review and they're trying to improve their service. I think it's great that they're making an effort to improve and I hope the changes are here to stay.
(3)Karen D.
sitting here for 20 minutes and I still have been attended to by the bar. okay I'm out of here!
(1)Erika K.
This is the place to see and be seen in the Miami-Dade legal community. Other than that, there is no real reason to go there. The food is expensive for the small portion sizes and takes forever to get to the table. Another problem is that the stairs to the second floor are steep and there is no elevator. I could foresee this being am issue for elderly or handicapped patrons. That being said the staff is friendly and I am sure they would find an accommodation should this be an issue.
(2)Glenda R.
What a great place! I started going to La Loggia about 10 years ago. The great ambiance, good music and the tasty, yummy food keep me coming back for more! Consistency is key for them. They have a great menu with much more than only pasta. It's hard to pick a favorite dish... I think it's the "almond crusted salmon", love it! The bruschettas are yummy, very creative, I like the shrimp with the avocado and hearts of palm and the one with bree and grapes. Great prices on drinks and even better during happy hour! I have been to some fun parties on Fridays, with dancers, Dj and good looking people! I usually go there in the evenings, but I hear they are super busy at lunch time. I totally recommend!
(5)Gordon G.
Very fast an easy Italian fare, filled with lawyers if thats what you are looking for.
(3)Zach P.
Located across the street from the Miami-Dade Courthouse, La Loggia makes you wish to have jury duty. Great food, fantastic service and a cool ambiance make it a nice place for dinner or a drink.
(5)Rika J.
Order was wrong. Management unprofessional. Will never order from them again. Buyer beware!
(1)Eve C.
La Loggia is a downtown staple. Any time of day - lunch, dinner, happy hour - you're bound to find some people affiliated with the justice system (lawyers, judges, court staff, etc.) enjoying themselves, and probably talking shop too. But don't let that stand in your way! Offering a vast selection of Italian favorites - pizzas, pastas, and the like - it's a great place to grab a bite if you find yourself downtown during prime lunching hours. The prices are a tad bit high (for lunch), but on Mondays, they have a $9 pasta special that's definitely worth taking advantage of. Service isn't the fastest, so it's not the best option if you're pressed for time. This also means that when you're there in a large group, it's probably going to take longer than normal for you to get your food.
(4)Elba D.
Great restaurant for lunch! I always have lunch here when I have business meetings in Downtown. I order a different item every time to see if it is better than the last! I rarely order appetizers since its too much for lunch! But on Tuesday I was very hungry and decided why not? I had the Fresh Mozzarella and Tomato Salad ( nothing to write home about ) But THEN I had the Pumpkin Agnolotti! DELISH!!!! Ravioli filled with sweet pumpkin and fine ricotta cheese, served in a butter and sage sauce! Let me just say that when the Ravioli was gone I soaked up that amazing sauce with some bread! No way that was going to waste! YUMMY! I am a huge dessert fanatic! But passed because I knew I'd be doing extra cardio just to work it off! Lol I've never been there for Happy Hour but I've been told that its really good! Ill have to try it one day! I highly recommend this place. It has a nice ambiance and the service is top notch. And so far I only have high regards for the food!
(4)Phillip C.
I wish I could spend a few minutes reviewing the food. Unfortunately on Friday, I took a colleague who just flew in to dinner. We arrived at 9:15 pm after confirming earlier that they were open until 11pm. I was told by several staff members that they had just closed the kitchen and weren't serving anymore. I questioned why, since they said (and advertise) that they're open til 11 on Fridays. They just quickly said "it was too slow to stay open". Well.. my comments to them: It's a self fulfilling prophecy. If you are inconsistent with your times, and close early (much less turn active business away). Those customers will stop coming, then you'll be perpetually slow with no hope to build an evening following. For me, I'll not go out of my way in the future as I did Friday to attempt to visit this location. If I had arrived at 10:55, I'd be more understanding... but nearly 2 hours before they are scheduled to close is ridiculous and unprofessional.
(1)Abby G.
This is the go-to place for lunch if you're downtown near the courthouse area. Dependably efficient and friendly service and a great menu.
(5)Kristen C.
I had the grilled chicken panini, which comes with avocado, fresh mozzarella, arugula and balsamic dressing. It was veryyy good. The fresh mozzarella really made the panini. You won't find parking around lunchtime. Walk it out. Parking's easier after 5:30 pm -- and street parking is free downtown after 6. Hope you're comfortable rubbing elbows with all of Miami's attorneys -- because this is their hang-out. Earlier this year, I went to La Loggia for an event and tried a few of their hors d'oeuvres -- most of them were fried, lukewarm and unexceptional. But, to their credit -- their catering menu offers more variety than was offered to guests that night. Nice place -- I'll go again.
(4)Adam F.
My professional organization had its annual dinner at La Loggia. What a great choice! The food was good, the staff was amazingly helpful, the price was reasonable, the noise level was comfortable. The upstairs room worked well for our group of about 50 people. I really recommend this place.
(4)Paul A.
LOVE this place!!! You must try it... Super fresh food priced right! Full bar too... Great happy hours!
(5)Carlos P.
A spacious and clean location provides the perfect backdrop for a delicious italian lunch. As soon as you are seated, you are brought a basket of warm bread and if you run out, they are constantly bringing you more. I ordered the grilled chicken panini and was disappointed that i wasn't hot. Though as soon as i took my first bite, I forgot about that detail. The balsamic dressing it comes drenched in is tasty and not too overpowering. The slice of avocado were a welcome and tasty treat as well. Get here before 12 because as soon as noon comes around, it's a madhouse to find seating...and I can taste why!

I was staying in dowtown Miami at the Hyatt for business for a couple of days and found La Loggia surfing the Yelp for an interesting restaurant close by. This area is vastly different day vs. night and I can see how this would be a great place to have lunch. I walked here around 7 on a weeknight and the walk was a bit sketchy - and even sketchier on the way home! There were a few diners eating outside and after hanging at the front for a few minutes unnoticed I grabbed a seat at the bar. The crowd all appeared to be post- courthouse. The menu looked great and the bartender gets an A+ for service, for friendliness, recommendations and fast service. I got a Caeser salad, which itself could have been a meal and had more shaved Parmigiano chees than I ever have seen (this is a rave). She also brought out a beautiful plate of fresh bread and I put some of my fresh shaved cheese on top for an added delight. For dinner I ordered the seafood risotto which the menu said had a tomato sauce on it. The dish sounded delicious and I wasn't sure quite what to expect based on the description but when it arrived it was a heavy creamy tomato sauce that was a bit too rich and drowned the delicacy of the risotto and the seafood, which was a bit overcooked. All said, I would come back and recommend... and would take a cab next time ;-)

We love everything about La Loggia! Great food, great prices and great service and ambiance. They make the best salmon dishes and all of their soups are delicious. We specially love when Yoli takes care of us, she knows what our preferences are and our food always comes out just how we like it.

La Loggia is the place to be for D list Miami celebrity sightings, a fantastic lunch and low key happy hours on the patio. Carb counters beware.......you'll find plenty of tasty salads on the menu but you won't be able to resist the warm foccacia bread that will land at your table as soon as you sit down. La Loggia features a simple yet very well done Italian menu and everything I've tasted is delicious. Any pasta that comes in a pink sauce is sure to make your mouth water, and they bring handmade pizzas to your table quick enough for even the tightest lunch hour. I miss heading to La Loggia after a long day at the office, downing a few glasses of their house wine and gorging on the delicious free passed appetizers. Downtown Miami can be a little sketchy and random at best, but hit up La Loggia anytime before 6pm to make the most of it.

I ate here few times, when I was in downtown for meetings. I don't understand why this place got so many good reviews. Food is average here, and way overpriced for its quality. Service is also average.

I love going to La Loggia for lunch..but getting there early is a definite must or you will have to wait a bit to be seated. The bread they serve when you get there is absolutely in my top 5 pre-lunch bread ;) Very soft and always warm. For lunch, I'd recommend the gnocchi with a four cheese sauce. The Pomodoro E Mozzarella panini also kicks some serious ass! If you go, make sure to splurge on dessert. Their chocolate souffle is awesome and of course, their Tiramisu is delicious as well. Also--- if you're swamped at work and want to treat yourself to some yummy italian food- they also deliver. Call them up and they'll bring your food in 30-45 minutes usually.

After work hours, Downtown is a dud. And no I am not talking about the touristic part of Downtown (aka Bayside). I mean the place where the average worker is out numbered by the hobos. La Loggia seems to be the savior for happy hour there. The food is amazing! Pasta is too good. I recommend any of their raviolli's. You can pick from spinach, pumpkin, or lobster. But love for this restaurant started with their bread. You will definitely go through rounds and rounds of breadsticks. But back to what kept going back, happy hour. $4 wine and prosecco or $5 well drinks. A little tidbit, when you go in the summer, your first glass of red sangria is free!

Downtown classic!! Great for lunch. The owners are charming and are always very helpful. Chicken salad and their revolving lunch specials are excellent, as is the orichietti. I normally get the four cheese gnochi with chicken (not on the menu but feel free to order it). Miami attorneys mix with county professionals and miami judges.

I realized today, that it's been a while since I last posted a restaurant review. It's not that I haven't been going out to eat; actually, it's quite the opposite. I've been going out to so many restaurants that I haven't really had time to blog in between meals. It's kind of hard to pick up a pen when you won't put down your fork, but I think I'm finally ready! My little food frenzy all began when my friend, Sasha, asked me to grab lunch with her at Greenstreet Café. 72 hours and 7 delicious restaurant meals later...I am finally emerging from the most ridiculous, nonstop, 3-day food coma of my life. Correction, the only 3-day food coma of my life (and I'm hoping to keep it that way!). As I sit here now, trying to figure out on which days and in which order I ate these meals, I realize that it is all just a huge blur. A food blackout, perhaps. But there is one meal that stands out in my memory, and that is my dinner from last night at La Loggia in Downtown Miami. I had a serious craving for Italian food yesterday, and wanted to try something other than the Italian restaurant below my apartment building for a change (Vilaggio). So I google searched the best places for Italian in Miami, and chose La Loggia from the results based solely on that fact that I had never been, nor heard of it. Within minutes, Sasha, Cy, and myself were on our way downtown to get some grub. I got a little apprehensive when we showed up and the place was empty except for the bar, but I was committed to trying something new and I'm so glad that we did! First things first, we got a nice bottle of red wine for the table (aka yet another night that I didn't end up studying for finals) and then we ordered appetizers. Sasha and I split a 6-piece Brushetta appetizer, 3 of which were with Melted Mozzarella with Tomato, Basil, Salt, and Olive Oil, and 3 of which were Petit Toasts topped with Genoa Salami, Goat Cheese, and Calamata Olives. Sasha and I both agreed that the Salami and Goat Cheese was much more interesting and better overall than the Melted Mozzarella one, and there was definitely an awkward moment as we both stared at the last petit toast, wondering who would take it. I let her have it, but it was a self-less act and a tough one at that! Cy ordered the Beef Carpaccio with fresh arugala, sliced parmigiano reggiano, avocado, and hearts of palm. I'm not a fan of carpaccio, but he loved it and Sasha went ahead to order it as her entrée so it must have been good. For dinner, I kept it simple and ordered the Chicken Parmesan. I don't think that you can really get a good read on an Italian restaurant unless you try their red sauce, and I was in the mood for something rich and cheesy. I can honestly say that it was the 2nd best chicken parmesan that I have ever tasted in my life (the first best being at a little hole in the wall spot in New Jersey). The chicken was pounded out to a beautiful inch thickness and it was fried to perfection. I hate, hate, hate when I order chicken parmesan out and it is thick like a fried chicken breast. This place had the right idea though, thinly pounded yet large enough to cover the whole plate. Now let's talk about the red sauce--it was tremendous! It had just the right amount of spice and acidity and it tasted very fresh. The herbs were very aromatic, yet not overpowering and the consistency was great for a sauce without meat. A red sauce with meat (aka Gravy for all my fellow Italians!) adheres to pasta so well because the fats from the meat naturally thicken the sauce and help bind it to the starch. But a common problem for restaurants making a meatless red sauce is that the sauce is too thin and sometimes even runny. Its like and apartheid on your plate...the sauce and the noodles simply won't come together (and this is usually when you end up with sauce speckles all over your shift). Thankfully, La Loggia has mastered the art of red sauce and it stuck to my pasta beautifully, which was properly cooked al dente. I ate everything last bite, much to the waitresses surprise who mistakenly offered me a to-go box before noticing my empty plate. When she saw that there was nothing left she looked at me as if I was Adam Richman from Man v. Food, going on about how "no one ever finishes that whole entrée!" I did my little nervous laugh and then sheepishly asked for the dessert menu (Adam Richman, I could take you any day). I ordered the Mango Cheesecake and a Cappuccino. The cappuccino was very good (LaVazza coffee), but I have very mixed feelings about the cheesecake, which actually tasted nothing like a cheesecake. The flavor of the mango certainly lightened the texture and feel of the dessert, but I was in the mood for a heavy piece of traditional cheesecake and so I was disappointed. Just not what I was wanting at the moment, and I don't think mango and cheesecake lend themselves well together. Overall, I thought this was a fabulous restaurant....especially at the price point too.
