Delicious kebobs, salads, and on weekends: loved the chamin. But the jachnoun was so-so, I have a much better version at home. Good place for traditional Israeli/Middle eastern food in this area. The Limonana drink is yummy. Would recommend, just be warned, their kosher kasrut is probably not up to par for most observant people (they're open on shabbat, for example).

We came to eat here once and have gotten take out from here like sooooo many times since then because it is SO good. Its casual but crowded on the inside..its an ok place to take the kids but only if they are in a cooperative mood. They bring you a bunch of pickled items/various small plates of veggies for free and its all very good, the sabich is off the chain and the hummus is probably the best that we've had in S Florida--OMG. Anyway I love it and we'll keep getting it. Also Baba loves it.

There r many Israeli joints in the area but this place blends that Israeli feel and bites with a lower east side ny vibe. Good stuff.

Good food, always fresh, authentic, great variety. Majadera, baba ganush, humus, falafel, all really good... Definately a nice little place to go and enjoy everyday middle eastern food done right. The owner is very kind and makes sure everyone is pleased.

If you can't afford a trip to Israel this week just drive to Aventura and eat here. It's the authentic experience. I would not run here if I wanted a really good steak, stick to the chicken and falafel. Don't be put off by the brusque attitude of the wait staff. They are willing to be very helpful just tell them if you don't speak Hebrew. What you will get here is a heaping plate of fresh and tasty food. We eat here every time we come to Miami. Four stars because it's a dive and the place, especially the bathrooms could be cleaner. Otherwise, if you want a real straightforward Israeli food it's five stars.

We love this place! Excellent home style food, fabulous ambience. Not a fine dining experience, its more like a friends house ! Servers are always extremely patient with me, as i come pretty often and get confused what i want this time :) always leave with to go box, because portions are big and salads are helping it too always perfect and satisfying.

Etzel Itzik has really good food. it has been on my list for along time, but being in Aventura and not being open for dinner, i did not get the chance until now, and i was not disappointed!!! the hummus, the shashuka, the falafal, tabouli were all reaallly goood. the house special lemonade which i believe, has mint, is to die for. they charge you for the little salad plates that they bring, so choose well. they were not as good as the rest except for the spicy tomato salad. if it were not for the small salads, i would have given them a 5 star. it is a small restaurant, basic inside, and i get the feel of being back in Tel Aviv with all the hebrew coming from most every direction.

When I was pregnant I went their every week . This place is amazing. Real deal Israeli food. First of all the fresh pita and several salads already fill you up, I looooove all if their salads. My husband orders the schnitzel pita and I order the falafel. I had ordered the Kabob and lamb before, enough to share. My husband always orders a lemonada which is a mint slushie , that's a banger too!!! Go their believe me I am a picky eater and I have no complaints.

  • Alexii N.

This place is amazing. Everything we had was delicious and very generous portions! The kufta kebab was beyond tasty and I highly recommend. Also, the pita was very, very fresh, along with everything else. It's a tiny place in a strip plaza with very little ambiance, but the food is 100% worth it! I would highly recommend anyone to eat there! I am literally thinking of reasons to go to Aventura so I have an excuse myself!

Authentic Israeli. It doesn't get better than this. I go with my Israeli friend and it's a family favorite for her. It's a regular favorite for me. Many tiny plates of Israeli salads and pita- beets, corn, cabbage, chickpeas, hummus, noodles, tomatoes... It's heavenly and vegan-friendly. I usually order the falafel plate. Perfect green falafels and Israeli salad. Splurge for the mint lemonade icy. Whatever you do- don't miss their TAHINI. Mmm I crave this place!

Yum! This place is well priced and the food is delicious. Came for breakfast and had the Shashuka with eggplant, ordered it spicy. I recommend this dish at this place for breakfast

Horrific experience. The food was cold and the service was terrible. If you are not from the neighborhood, don't expect anyone to smile at you or care for what you ask far. Wouldn't recommend to a friend.

Probably the best Israeli food you will find in or around Miami. To start, you get a side of Pita and a variety of small plates including corn, tomatoes, potato, chick peas, etc. No charge. You can't miss the hummus and tahini or the falafel. To top it off, this place is family owned. The owner, Eztel Itzik, walks around and makes sure everyone is happy. This is a great place to get authentic Israeli food at an excellent price.

  • Shadia E.

I have been to this place many times, the food is good but the service is really bad. If you're not Jewish or speak Hebrew you should not expect some great treament here. We always order a pita plate here to share, because my husband and I can never finish 2 plates. However, this time we ordered a pita plate and they gave us barely any fries and you can see it was done deliberately. Looked around and saw how much fries everyone else had and we only had about 10 fries thrown on our plate. I am tired of this treatment and will most likely not go again.

  • Bonnie L.

I always find my way over to eat here when I'm in the neighborhood. And I've been known to drive my home in Hollywood just to have lunch there. It's been a favorite spot for years. Where shall I start? The little tiny plates of appetizers that are brought out to you before your meal arrives. The pickle plate, the beets , the carrots, the chickpeas, coleslaw, corn. Yum. I usually order from the breakfast menu, so I can only comment on that. Generous portions, very tasty. Fresh pita bread too! I've had the felafel. It's awesome. it can get very crowded in there as its a popular spot. But even with a crowd, service is quick. If you are craving an Israeli breakfast, this is the place to go. Even if it's lunchtime.

This is the closest restaurant you can get to physically being in Israel the food is incredible it's always fresh and it's a warm inviting atmosphere I make it a point to go here at least twice a week highly recommended if you're into Middle Eastern food and culture

Amazing little spit. Felt like I was eating in Tel Aviv. The food was excellent! And well priced. Try the mint lemonade. It probably was the best one I have ever had.

A friend introduced me to this family run spot and I'm in love. It gets packed on lunch but if you've got the time and don't mind squeezing in, then you're in for a real treat. They immediately brought out the complimentary small salads and warm pita which is a meal all on its own. I had the falafel followed by a napoleon cake for dessert and it was all so delicious. I honestly scarfed everything down from beginning to end!

This restaurant is AMAZING for lunch and dinner. I went there with my family for breakfast and I couldn't find anything suitable for breakfast so I look at the lunch section and 95% of the lunch menu sounded INCREDIBLE. I looked at the page for a while and ended up having schnitzel (which are big Israeli chicken nuggets) with mashed potatoes along with rice and beans. After I finished I was stuffed. My family and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. I recommended this place to anyone who has a great taste for food.

Great authentic Israeli food in the heart of Aventura. Love the food and the prices are pretty good. I only wish it was a bigger place.

A true gem. There is just such a variety of amazingly delicious foods available at Itzik (foods such as falafel, hummus, msabbha, shakshouka, couscous, and za'atar ), you'll be spoilt for choice. So put that drooling tongue away and wash those hands...

So to begin with, this is a family owned restaurant and it is PACKED during lunch time. Expect a wait but it isn't too long, you can even see the owner (who is hosting) rushing to clean tables immediately for you. Ten minute wait at max. Fast service too! Immediately, this restaurant provides a FREE pita appetizer with two fluffy pitas and a variety of side dishes such as tomatoe, corn, chick peas, beets, etc. as you can see in the photo. Their meals are all under $15, I ordered a falafel pita plate for only $10. I was already starting to feel stuffed from the appetizer... And the owner even provided more pita the second he saw that i had finished the first tray. Also... They have MINT LEMONADE! Delicious. Absolutely perfect and refreshing! They put shaved ice in it too, so it's a great slushie kick if you drink starting from the top. I am absolutely pleased, the food is great quality and it's filling. I recommend everyone to try this particular Mediterranean restaurant if you guys are ever around sunny Isles!

Always slammed during weekday lunch time but somehow someway the tables turn over fast, food is delivered quickly and consistently good. A MUST if you're in the area. Love the neighborhood feel and family owned, one off decor they have. Best kosher place I've ever been to

  • Rob G.

Went in today for lunch. We beat the crowd and were seated right away. Before I knew it, there were all the small plates/salads for us to munch on. I had my usual falafel plate w/ lemonana. My friend had grilled chicken w/grilled onions, and of course, a lemonana. Everything was good. I always enjoy coming here, but its even better when its not crowded. If you are looking for middle-eastern/Israeli food, this is a great place for a pit stop.

  • MICHAEL M.

I've had many a meal in NYC' Little Italy and this northeast Miami hotspot is Miami's Little Israel favorite! Sit down and server brings you 6 or more typical teasers of salads, pickles and the pita bread to dip into it with! I LOVE the iced tea with mint (limonana) but watch out for a brain freeze...oh yeh, the food. Yemenite soup - many spices in the meat broth with potato chunks and stewed flanken, yummy! All is good - but my other favorite is the shakshouka with eggplant...hot skillet with eggs cooked in tomato, red pepper on a bed of eggplant...anyone that's lived in the area for years knows this place so you may have to wait a few minutes at lunchtime......say hi to the owner, Itzik, who is always there making certain everyone is enjoying.

Ahhh, i wish I could like this place since they closed my favorite Israeli spot that was across the street but I cannot. The food is decent to good but they fall flat in my Israeli rating scale - the falafal. It just isn't that great and to me - that's a deal breaker. On top of that - and the primary reason they only get two stars is the absolutely TERRIBLE service. I have been there 3-4 times and each time I swear it truly got worse. The last time I went (and the last time I'll ever go), we were seated after about 20 minutes. We received our drinks and placed our order. Almost 45 minutes later we still had not received our falafal and hummus appetizer. This is something that should take no more than 10 minutes. At this point we couldn't take it anymore - got up.placed a few dollars on the table for our drinks and left. and NO ONE even noticed that we got up. I am still shocked that a small business like this can treat its customers in this manor, and I will not be back. And with that ...my hunt for great falafal will continue.

This place is fantastic. The food is very flavorful and there is a wide selection of items to choose from. Even their healthy stuff tastes good which is a bonus. They start you off by bringing out an entire table full of free items and delicious warm pita bread: carrots, beets, corn, slaw, pickles, chickpeas, etc. You can almost fill up just eating the free stuff. You don't want to do that, and the reason is simple... the food here is very good. I got the sabich plate which is brown egg, hummus, tahini, salad, pickled mango, eggplant, scallions & pickles. It is all really tasty and you can pick and choose which components to mash up with each bite. The pickled mango and eggplant were exceptional. I had their mint tea which they serve hot. They have a really intense looking mint lemonade which is what most people were drinking, but I didn't go there this time. Almost as good as the food are the prices. Only $24 for 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and a kids meal... wow! Service is a little surly, but they get the job done. I highly recommend a trip out to this place.

In Tel Aviv this place would be good - in Aventura it is in a class by itself. It is always packed - but once you get a seat, tons of side dishes come flying out. I love the sides, they really make the meal. There are so many, it is hard to know what is what. You will feel bad stuffing your face, before you have a chance to order. Overall the food is very good. The pita is great. They grill chicken well and make a good falafel. The service is fast and to the point. This place is mostly for Israelis and locals. You will eat a lot, be filled and probably have a fairly small bill.

Great place to stop in for lunch. It's in a small rundown plaza so lookout for the sign. Lots of food options from chicken, steak, salads, pita sandwiches and it tastes good. As soon as you sit down, they give you the complimentary salad sampler plates. Service was efficient and fast. The mint lemonade is awesome. The decor was a bit overwhelming when i stepped in ( photo overkill), but then i focused on the food so i forgot about all the pictures on the walls and tables.

I have heard about this place for several years from my mother who owns a shop nearby. My one regret was not trying their food sooner. I couldn't help but stare at the full tables to check out what everyone else was ordering, as everything looked amazing. I ordered several salads, hummus, and tabbouleh for take out. Let me just say that every plate that I watched come out of the kitchen while I waited for my good looked fresh and delicious. The tabbouleh and hummus were the best I've had anywhere and the salads were a perfect healthy lunch. Bring your appetite, as there is no shortage of delicious things to try.

Being relatively new to Israeli food. Etzel Itzik fast-forwarded my n00bness to full on obsession. I walked into this semi-hole in the wall for lunch, looking for something quick and simple. Perhaps a falafel sandwich, maybe a side of hummus, whatever. My taste buds were on a mission for some Middle Eastern love. We sat down and got table service here, not sure if this is a pick-up-and-go kind of spot. But regardless, it's worth sitting down for the experience. It's really hustle and bustle during lunch time - Etzel Itzik draws a pretty big weekday lunch crowd, yet we still didn't have to wait for a table. The pre-meal appetizer is standard for everyone - they'll bring you a few small plates of pickled veggies, chickpeas, coleslaw, and some pita to whet your appetite before you order. The menu was a nice surprise - no need to go for the standard Middle Eastern fare (schwarma sandwiches, falafel, etc.) - I was able to order other fun things I hadn't experienced before. My dish was a winner, consider it beginner's luck. I ordered the Sabich platter which came with fried eggplant, hummus, hardboiled egg, Israeli salad, tahini sauce and some MAGICAL curry-flavored sauce. I have no idea what it is, but someone needs to tell me so I can keep a jar at home. Prices are super reasonable for lunch given the festival of flavors you'll have here. New favorite lunch spot.

If I could have fit this place in my car, I would have taken it home. Incredible Israeli food, including the mini-smorgasbord (I know--wrong part of the world) that they immediately serve each table. I recommend the sabich (the unexpectedly delicious combo of hardboiled egg and eggplant) for lunch. Good fresh juice. I went with carrot/celery, and it was served to me in a giant carafe. Nice people. Granted, don't expect the servers to sit down or call you "Hon'" like you're at Applebees or a roadside diner, respectively. It probably helps if you speak Hebrew--I don't, and I'm still infatuated with the place. For fans of: Israeli food; not eavesdropping because you don't know what the people at other tables are saying; keeping kosher

This is one place that is a must stop if you're in the area! Because you will definitely not find this gem elsewhere... If you're looking to satisfy yourself with some Isreali food, this is the place to be... The food is amazing and it definitely shows on the incredible dishes put out by the Chefs of Etzel Itzik Deli. You must come early, because they don't open late and on the weekends, it is a packed house... Hummus Foul - This is a BIG tray of hummus, beans on the center and topped with a healthy serving of tahini and a hard boiled egg along side with their thick pita bread. Wow! Flavorful and wonderfully fulfilling for your tummy. As the waitress said, once you have this meal, you'll be full until 4-5 in the late afternoon. Was she right!?!?! The Israeli bagel - This thing is NO JOKE ladies and gents! This can feed a family! Carefully crafted and toasted, the bagel is the size of the plate. This is not your traditional deli bagel, this is BIG. Toasted nicely, covered in sesame seeds...bute after bite it definitely has a great balance in saltiness, cruchiness, and delightfulness. Mint tea - It's the way to go. Smooth and calming, just what the doctor ordered to knock out that stress early in the morning. Will definitely be back to try other items, as there is so much more to explore.

  • Marina S.

Ever since coming back from Israel I've been craving the food. When on a recent trip to Florida I tried out Etzel Itzik Deli and immediately felt like I was back in Israel. I ordered the falafel and it was delicious, and came with a bunch of free sides. I ordered the sandwich and my boyfriend ordered the plate and he said he didn't think the plate was worth the extra money. The sandwich was really reasonably priced for how much you got. The dessert was also really good, I can't remember what it was called but it was made from rose and was really unique. I had it in Israel as well but have not found it in the states. I wish we found this place sooner so we could have come again before returning home.

We were craving Real Israeli food! A friend recommended this restaurant. It is really a little hole in the wall, located in a small shopping strip with very little parking. We were blessed to find an empty spot to park. The waitress Lorraine was a beautiful young Israeli. She was very sweet and helpful . There was so much to choose from on the menu. She recommended their signature lemonade with mint.... oh my gosh it was so refreshing and delicious, especially on this very hot, sunny day in South Florida. She also recommended to start the Babaganush, Hummus, Tableau, Israeli salad and falafel platter. We were planning on ordering more but could not even finish this platter for one. The pita was hot and fresh. We finished with a very good cappuccino. Lively place with Israelis coming and going throughout our Three hour late lunch. They seem to do a very big take out business. We literally sat at our table for three hours and felt so badly because we really did not order much but one platter. They bring you a lot of extra side salads and ask that you order one entree. We were so full and asked if we should pay extra for taking up our table for such a long time. The owner came over and said it was not necessary and thanked us for our business. We will definitely be back and tell everyone about this great little find.

I always come back to this place when I come home. If you're looking for authentic Israeli food, this is the place to come. A neighborhood place with great food and friendly staff. We came for breakfast and walked out stuffed. The toast with the hard boiled egg, feta, olives, zaatar and tomatoes is delicious. The omelette is also good but I recommended ordering something more authentic. Will definitely come back especially to try dinner.

Very good Israeli food, I usually have the pargiot or the kefta, with fries and Israeli salad. The limonada is as great drink, a bit on the sweet side, but really good. Their humus is also great, I just hate that they are closed on Sundays.

This place is LEGIT. Many memories of living in Israel come to life here starting from when they bring you out a group of Israeli salads to when our waitress questioned out needs for a menu. Almost never in my life have I said 'this is really good chicken', but I did it this week with lunch at Itzik's. It did And finally, try the lemonada. I'll be back on the regular.

I'm a huge falafel fan... and this place has the best! It doesn't matter what time of day you go, this play will be packed! However don't expect to wait long, they always seem to find one table to squeeze you into. The food is always fresh and as a vegetarian one of the best spots in town. The price is right and the portions leave you satisfied. Also don't forget to try the frozen mint lemonade!

Good food, always fresh, authentic, great variety. Majadera, baba ganush, humus, falafel, all really good... Definately a nice little place to go and enjoy everyday middle eastern food done right. The owner is very kind and makes sure everyone is pleased.

A true gem. There is just such a variety of amazingly delicious foods available at Itzik (foods such as falafel, hummus, msabbha, shakshouka, couscous, and za'atar ), you'll be spoilt for choice. So put that drooling tongue away and wash those hands...

You MUST start with the mint lemonade it is like nothing I have ever had in my life! The portion is huge i would share on e $4. You sit and they foods comes, and comes. Little tiny appetizers of salads included for free with your food. The quality was ok most of it was canned I am not a fan. Although I love the Israeli pickles and cabbage. For my got chicken and pita the chicken had amazing seasoned was cooked perfect was really moist. The place has lots of character pictures of customers all over eating inside. Cool little spot if I have a craving for Israeli food this will be my go to place. Thanks yelp for helping me find this little hidden gem.

Love this place. You probably have driven by it a million times. It is hole in the wall in a rather mundane and rundown strip mall. But it packs a punch. To start, if you don't speak Hebrew or are new to Israeli food, this place can be intimidating. Put that to rest. The owner, who practically lives there, and the staff will help you answer any question and with a smile. They talk about "home" here and they are true to their word. Had I not asked, I would not know the joys of Israeli hot sauce with my falafel or the mint infused lemonade. You start off with the server bringing you six or seven bowl of snacks, which range from various pickled delights to other vegetable treats. They also bring you a warm pita. Save that for hummus. Awesome. I have had only three dishes here. They have a tremendous beef soup. Warm, loaded with chucks of meat, and hearty. The chicken pita sandwich is, in the words of a friend, "on lock down." For me, the go to is the falafel. The best around. Sorry Pita Plus. You are not even close. NOTE: There is no shwarma here so you have to go elsewhere if you want this. They have a big menu and I should sample other things since everyone else does. This place is small and always busy but if I have to wait, which is not often, I usually get a table pretty fast. If you are reading this review, you already have found the grail. Now go there but don't tell too many people.

Oh my gosh, this place is fantastic! I went with a friend of mine while it looks a little like a hole in the wall from the outside, the plain exterior hides a gem when comes to delicious, authentic Israeli food. We went on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't super crowded. We got seated right away and a very nice waitress promptly brought over a bunch of different little salads. We ordered lemonanas (blended lemonade and mint leaves) because I read about the drink on Yelp! and both of us loved it. Then we ordered falafels which were AMAZING (the best I've had in Southern Florida). I left the place with a full belly and a promise to come back again and soon :) Hooray for this Etzel Itzik!

Very good falafel. Crispy with lots of flavor. Good balance of hummus and veggies as well - not too onion-y. I really liked it actually. But the highlight is the mint lemonade. It's especially good if you have the green hot sauce on the falafel!

I found this gem one afternoon on Google Maps. I wanted a good sandwich and figured a search for "Deli" centered on my location in Sunny Isles Beach would yield fruit. It sure did! Here's the tale: I find the place via GPS with little trouble. The sign outside is in Hebrew, but underneath there is the English "Deli". Walking in is like walking through a teleporter. I'm no longer in a dour-looking strip mall by the side of some railroad tracks; I'm in a lively, homey deli in Israel. Pictures of patrons taken in the restaurant cover the walls. At two in the afternoon on a random Wednesday, the place is hopping with activity. I can hear Hebrew all over the place. Israeli music pipes through speakers. I seat myself at an empty table and there are menus in a holder awaiting me, diner-style. The menu is laminated and has updated listings glued on top of the (very?) old ones. English text is on the left side, but little in the way of explanations for their anglicizations of Hebrew words like "shaksuka". The corresponding Hebrew is on the right, straddling the very reasonable prices. It's $5 or $6 for most sandwiches on a pita and $1 more for the same on a sub roll (they call it a "baguette"). Shortly, an attractive and smiling waitress drops by with what I presume are the standard appetizers for patrons: three small dishes and a plate with a whole piece of very fresh-looking pita. I avoided the pita for fear of spoiling my appetite, but all three of the other dishes ended up being completely consumed. The first contained a salty cole slaw with a thin creamy sauce that I found irresistible. The second was a chickpea salad that was fresh, if not terribly exciting. The last was my favorite, a pickle dish with some pickled cabbage, amazing cucumber pickles, some savory tiny olives, and a tasty spicy yellow pepper. I have to use my iPhone to look up with shaksuka is. Wikipedia has an article on it (they spell it "shakshouka") that describes it as "a dish from the Maghreb of Tunisian origins consisting of eggs cooked in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, onions, and spices". I can't decide between a sandwich of that or salami, so I ask for a combination of the two on a pita, as I had already put a serious dent in my appetite with the starters. The different attractive and smiling waitress convinces me that the pita can't hold it all and she seems to know what she's talking about, so I go with the "baguette" version of the sandwich. It arrives not too long later and looks and tastes *delicious*! It's a bit messy, but I actually enjoy that. The salami is cooked and flavorful and the shaksuka is yummy, though having never tried it elsewhere, I don't make any claims on how traditional it is or how it compares to the competition's. I leave with a smile on my face and full and comfortable belly. This place was just what the doctor ordered! I will certainly return next time I find myself in the area. FYI: I'm visiting the Miami area from San Francisco. In SF, Yelp is a goldmine of information. Restaurants often get tens of reviews within days of their openings. Using Yelp in Miami is unfortunately an entirely different experience and it's a shame. Many restaurants have no reviews and some aren't even listed! I guess if i'm not part of the solution, though, I'm part of the precipitate ;)

I always come back to this place when I come home. If you're looking for authentic Israeli food, this is the place to come.

A neighborhood place with great food and friendly staff. We came for breakfast and walked out stuffed. The toast with the hard boiled egg, feta, olives, zaatar and tomatoes is delicious.

Good hummus, good falafel, awesome pita, the mint lemonade is very nice. Really busy while we were there and the wait staff was still pleasant. Will try again when I'm in the neighborhood.

Good Israeli food for Miami. Unfriendly service, just like in Israel. Makes me miss the Holy Land. A little expensive for what you get.

Best Israeli place in Miami! Try the Lemonana and schnitzel on a pita! As soon as you sit they serve about 10 little plates with treats such as corn, pickles, beets, and pita! Absolutely love it!

Very good falafel. Crispy with lots of flavor. Good balance of hummus and veggies as well - not too onion-y. I really liked it actually. But the highlight is the mint lemonade. It's especially good if you have the green hot sauce on the falafel!

Food very traditional ! The pictures in the wall and the owner character was cool to see. I had salami sandwich and a taste of humus that was my favorite

Very good, authentic food. Service has a lot to be desired, much the way it would be in Israel. Nevertheless, the food is great and prices are inexpensive.
