Stopped by here because I was in the area and figured I'll have some Chinese for Friday night dinner. It was "eh" I ordered the general tso chicken dinner combo because I'm still in search for the best general tso chicken in Miami. Well it wasn't here. Start of with the rice. They definitely need some work on the rice. All it was, was rice and these little pale squishy pieces they call pork? Yikes lol. That was their fried rice. Nothing else in there. The chicken looked really good but was tasteless. The lady asked if I liked it spicy I told her yes. It was very sweet and nothing else. Very awkward tasting. The egg role was okay. And soup was eh. I would give them a 2.5 to be precise. Only reason they get a 2 star from me is because of their portion size. They give you a good amount of chicken and rice to some other places I've been to in Miami. But quality still beats quantity in my book.

Nothing you haven't really seen before. I saw a lot of Chinese-Peruvians in here on a Friday night, so I'm sure some of the food they were getting must've been more legit than mine. We had potstickers and an eggroll. The eggroll stole the show--it was obvi homemade with pork and shrimp inside and fried to perfect. At the waitresses suggestion I tried the Hong Kong style Sweet and Sour pork. I don't like sweet and sour much, and this didn't really change my mind--but it was homemade and not repulsively sweet. More like tangy and zesty. If you like SS, give it a try. Service suffered on a Friday night. The lady forgot our rice and we didn't see her again until we were done eating. There was only one waitress (plus an assistant--she didn't take orders, just brought food and bussed tables) for about ten tables. She apologized profusely, though and it wasn't a big deal. Next time we will order delivery. P.S. Fried cheese-honey wontons??? This item escaped my notice until they had given us a delivery menu and sent us home. I immediately frenzied. How could I have missed this? This changes everything.

I've been ordering from Chef Chen for a couple of years now and I must say they are the best Chinese Food restaurant in the Kendall Town & Country Mall area. Absolutely LOVE their Almond Duck. Their special fried rice is yummy and the shrimp are decent sized and clean. Pepper Steak is good too.

Service was decent. Only reason I'm giving it 2 stars. Food wise? Don't waste your time. Chicken fried rice is just that chicken inside fried rice, with no vegetables. Mongolian beef meh I asked for extra spicy and it was bland in flavor and not spicy. Didn't have to keep asking for water so that's about as good as it got. Water was on point but maybe that's because I was thirsty...

Had my doubts about this place, it's very small and at the time there was only one other couple seated. My boyfriend was eager to try someplace else but I convinced him to not judge a book by its cover!! Well, our waitress who also seemed to be the hostess was very nice... The food was also very nice... And so was the bill!! To break it down, my boyfriend paid less than $25 for two separate huge orders of honey chicken (had we known they were so large we would've gotten one) two bowls of soup, two egg rolls, two bowls of rice and drinks. The food was delicious.. We both had leftovers which is absolutely no problem!! Love this place, I feel like it's somewhat a hidden gem of Kendall. We can't wait to go back!!

Best and most affordable Chinese food in the area. The menu selection is great and ample and the flavors do not disappoint. I have not eaten at the restaurant I always order for pickup and they are quite fast. The place is small in a popular shopping center and based on the staff I have encountered I am sure the service must be fine. The staff is always polite and friendly. This is my regular spot for Chinese takeout

Chef Chen is a great bang for your buck. We were hungry one night after struggling with a teething baby who wouldn't go to sleep and decided on them from the reviews we saw. We called and placed our order and they arrived in 40 minutes which is not bad. I had the masaman curry with veggies, no meat. It wasn't the best I ever had but it was very good. We also had steamed dumplings, they were good. My bf had their fried rice, it looked like it only had chicken and bits of egg and that's it but he actually really enjoyed it. He also ordered honey garlic chicken, it's fried chicken with the sauce on the side. Overall good and we will be ordering again once our Chinese cravings hit us again.

I ordered from there today after reading some of the reviews and to try a new inexpensive place. We ordered special fried rice, beef Lo Mein and spare ribs. We also got a free order of fried cream cheese wontons. The food was good. I liked the customer service. They were very friendly, welcoming and as I said before to me customer service is very important.

Chef Chen is conveniently located 1 shop down from my kickboxing studio. Because, you know, there is nothing like killing yourself for one hour at kickboxing only to stuff your face with Chinese food right after. That is what people do right? Their food is good. It's not necessarily the best take out I've had, I feel some items are hit and miss. Last take out we ordered was Szechuan chicken dinner combo with wonton soup. This came with a complimentary eggroll which I found a tad too dry. The soup was good, broth needed to have a little soy sauce added. The chicken fried rice was plentiful and tasty. The chicken szechuan was a missing a kick, or perhaps was a bit under seasoned. All in all, it's a fine place. Maybe as I explore the menu more, I'll have a better idea of what their specialties are. It's not necessarily bad either, so I am not yet ready to rule it out. It's well priced and has very friendly service, so for now, they're still in my good graces :)

Weird not ordering from Canton like I am used to but this place made it all better. Delivery was standard for a chinese place. Glad to have a good place nearby.

I figured if I find it through Yelp, I have to give feedback...lol. This place has great potential; there are veggies and meat in the fried rice when ordering a combo, and the wonton soup has them as well. The egg rolls are big and meaty and the service and employees were great. My 3 star grade is based on flavor; unfortunately everything I had was pretty bland. I usually don't have to add soy sauce to my food, but I did here. My other suggestion is to possibly devein the shrimp. I had a lot in my SFR (5 stars there), but I saw too many black veins!

My husband and I come here regularly. Everything from the service to the food is Excellent. Our favorite server, Jessica, walks us through the authentic Chinese menu (you have to ask for it). By the way, their duck sauce is home made...not from those pesky hard to open packages.

Seafood Pan Fried Noodles. A seafood medley in a light clear sauce served on top of a bed of cirspy pan fried noodles. If you get to the noodles fast enough before the sauce softens them up you are rewarded with a crunchy, crispy bite if snappy noodles. If you like your noodlea soft, stir the sauce around and let them sit until the noodles get a little thicker and plump. This is a classic dish. Always good. Go for it!!!

Found this restaurant by accident three years ago, and I've been a steady customer since then. The food is consistently delicious. The chicken and beef dishes are outstanding! Chef Chen has become my go-to for good Chinese food, fast. I love the crab wontons and their honey garlic chicken is always perfectly fried with delicious sauce. My hubby likes to rode something different every time and he's never been disappointed. We usually order take-out but have dined in on a few occasions and the servers are friendly and welcoming. Delivery is an amazing option also! There aren't that many Chinese restaurants with such close proximity to my house so Chef Chen is definitely the way to go!

Hhhmmm.... I have a new favorite Chinese restaurant in Kendall and it's called Chef Chen. They have your typical Americanized Chinese food; a table behind us was having this and it smelled delicious. We opted for the Chinese menu. Yes, this tiny little hole in the wall next to Pet Supermarket has a Chinese menu. Who knew? Anyhow, the food was very fresh, and everything we ordered was VERY GOOD. We had baby bok-choy, fried stuffed tofu balls (can't remember the name), Peking style pork chops, steamed pork slices in Asian spices, roasted chicken Chinese style. Yes, it's a tiny little place but very tastefully decorated, clean, friendly, helpful staff. They seem to have a good clientele as we saw people coming and going, getting take out and dining in. I will be paying another visit soon.

Ok so I don't like to bother with restaurants on Yelp (so you're out 20 bucks... get over it) I do have to speak up here though, mainly because the delivery person was so surly to me and immediately complained about not understanding the special instructions I put on the order form--no greeting at all just launched straight into a complaint (My mistake I guess for tipping him ahead of time?) Soon, however I was disappointed with the food. My favorite part of fried rice is always the scallions, and there were none. whatsoever. The orange chicken barely had any orange flavor nor much of any other flavor. Oh, and the soup? I got one wonton, so basically I ordered a bowl of broth --all of which I would have overlooked had the service been more polite.

I've been ordering from this place for a good 15 years and the fact that's it's still around says a lot! It's consistent and fresh! You don't get that icky Chinese restaurant take our feeling. It's clean and the chicken tastes like chicken! They usually send a free appetizer with every delivery!

One of the best Chinese places in the city. The food is so good that for a while we were ordering once or twice a week. Now we just order from time to time. The fried rice is delicious. The service is great. I'm glad I have this place so close to my home.

Since the new management took over last year, this place is AWESOME. I am very picky about Chinese food (especially exploring menu Items I have not previously tried) but this location is a great place to order well prepared food. The owner is extremely courteous and is onsite to greet and serve customers as well as answer the phone. I really recommend this to anyone looking to try family cooked Chinese food - I have yet to try something I have not liked from this location! (My new favorite - the Orange Chicken and Ham Fried rice they serve here is out of this world good!!)

Small family restaurant, excellent food, sloow service We had a family reunion trip to southern FL and this restaurant is within walking distance to our hotel, which is why we went there for the first night of our stay. It was the Saturday before X'mas and we had a big group of 10 people. There were totally only about 6 tables (including ours) in the restaurant, and we waited for 2 hours to get our food cooked and served! Yes, 2 hours, no kidding! We were so tired that day and also kinda mad as we didn't order anything special and they didn't inform us the wait would be that long. The food, on the other side, was very decent -- genuine Canton style Chinese cooking. The next day we had a trip to Key West and after a long day, we were longing for some Chinese food again. Learning our lesson from the previous day, we called them 2 hours before our arrival time and pre-ordered the food. This time they did a much better job -- we didn't have to wait long at all and the food was extremely delicious and they offer a LOT of food with very reasonable price! It was a very satisfying dinner for the entire family. We went to another popular local Chinese restaurant on our last day of stay, and we ended up spending more $ with less food, and the food quality is not better than Chef Chen either. So I highly recommend this small family restaurant to anybody who is traveling to southern Miami area. It may not be very famous, but it's indeed very good. Just remember to be patient, or call ahead to make your order :-)

Just about every chinese restaurant you order from, they all make the same things. Same plates / same combos / same dim sum. Chef Chen is no exception to this. They offer all of the same...and in similar digs (an empty restaurant with 1980s furniture and some seats ripped) BUT they have some really good crab rangoon. in fact in the face of a thousand similar chinese places they're rangoon is much better than the majority. plus the prices are still pretty cheap, especially the combo dinners which include soup / egg roll and chicken fried rice w/o the extra charge most chinese joints are charging now. Good for some quick chinese if you're stuck in the kendall area.

Been ordering delivery from here for 11 years. Always delicious and arrives fast and hot! Price is reasonable as well! They already know me and always throw in some extras for me! Thank you Chef Chen!

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I have to admit I was not expecting that quality of food BUT we have wings (excellent ) Fried rice (excellent) Honey garlic chicken (excellent) Beef and broccoli (excellent) And above all service superior ! The place at 6 pm packed with people waiting I love the place Joan Seattle

(5)EvoL L.
(2)Jamie M.

(5)Christoph R.
Best I've had in a very long time. My food tasted fresh arrived hot I even received a courtesy call when my food was ready. I'm excited to try every item on the menu

(4)Mirtha G.
First time ordering, used their online system. It was easy and food was ready when I arrived. I ordered their vegetable soup and cream wontons. Soup was very hearty . I will be ordering from here again to try other menu items
(3)Maria A.
(4)Francis H.
Ordered for takeout per a friends recommendation. Everything we ate was delicious / top quality. Specifically notable were steamed dumplings; orange and honey chicken and the Mongolian beef. Online ordering was very efficient and easy to use.

(3)Melanie U.
Weird not ordering from Canton like I am used to but this place made it all better. Family ordered for delivery and we got ribs, crab wontons, Hawaiian fried rice, and dumplings - ALL SO DELICIOUS. oh and some sort of fried pork which was yummy too. Delivery was standard for a chinese place. Glad to have a good place nearby.
(5)Ebone' W.
(3)Ana D.
My husband and I come here regularly. Everything from the service to the food is Excellent. Our favorite server, Jessica, walks us through the authentic Chinese menu (you have to ask for it). And, if they don't have something listed they will prepare it for you. This has become our Wednesday date night ritual.

(5)Pedro O.
Overall tasty and low sodium food. Lo mein is low on vegetables but also very tasty. Fried rice and chicken is also of high quality. Excellent service.
(4)Eli Z.
Definitely should go for authentic Chinese ! Highly recommend! Service is good and food really good
(5)Jerry S.
Found this restaurant by accident three years ago, and I've been a steady customer since then. The food is consistently delicious. The chicken and beef dishes are outstanding! Plus, the portions are huge and the cost is more than very fair. You can also order Chinese style dishes for authentic taste and appearance.
(5)Mike G.
In the realm of neighborhood staples, Chef Chen is our go to place for Chinese. Always fast, consistently delicious and a serious knack for good customer service.
(4)Dorothy F.
Very good food!! I'm very glad I stopped in. I found my new favorite Chinese restaurant! The egg rolls are delish and so are the cream cheese wontons! They also have great portion sizes - I ate dinner and had more than enough for lunch the next day.
(5)Ashley S.
(4)Amanda A.
This is the closest Chinese restaurant that I have and I have it a try because of the reviews and it was pretty good I bought food for 8 ppl and it was actually really cheap and the food was delicious, I will be visiting soon

The walnut shrimp was so amazing!!!! The people there seem to be all family and are extremely polite. It's a nice change compared to most rude/careless restaurants and waiters/waitresses. They also deliver close by so that's a huge plus

The food is fresh. .. We loved the crab ragoon, chicken wings, boneless spare ribs. For a very good price.. My son is very picky and he love chef chen restaurant.
(5)Carlos Nd Sally C.
One of the best Chinese food places in the kendall area. Been coming here for years have not bwwn disappointed yet.
(5)Sandra M.
The food here is always good and you can tell it's fresh. I've tried several items in the menu but the general tso's chicken and the egg rolls are hands down the winners. I normally get the same cashier who is always so pleasant. This is my new go to Chinese restaurant.
(4)Odele G.
Once again Chef Chen has come though... Today I ordered for my team at DSW & the family dinner was perfect... The honey chicken, special fried rice and chicken wings were a hit.... The team loved it and raved about it... Thank-you again Mickey & Jessica ....
(5)Kim L.
Excellent food from the Chinese menu! Must try!!!!!
(5)D. C.
Just ordered delivery from these guys. All I can say is blah. No flavor what so ever. We order honey garlic chicken, special fry rice, beef noodles, egg rolls and the cream cheese dumplings. Nothing had flavor. Wait, yes the honey garlic sauce tasted like lemons. I could not eat it. $40 down the drain. I rather order from The Chinese Restaurant at the crossings. I should have not ventured out to the unknown! And no fortune cookies?????!!! Well that's unfortunate
(1)Carolina M.
I just ate my delivery order. We ordered spring rolls, house special fried rice and General Tso's chicken. The food was fresh and tasted good. Nothing extraordinaire, but the extra star is for freshness and prompt delivery. The portions are huge!!! Next time I will order less. I think we'll be eating Chinese food for the next 3 days. I will definitely order here again.
(4)Alejandro C.
(5)Valerie B.
Our entire meal was excellent! We ordered special fried rice, cream cheese wontons, and honey chicken. The rice was not greasy and it was delivered promptly. Our new favorite Chinese restaurant!

Food has really fallin' off... Shrimp use to be big, now they are small, seasoning is off and food is bland.... Just not as good as when I first starting eating there

The walnut shrimp was so amazing!!!! The people there seem to be all family and are extremely polite. It's a nice change compared to most rude/careless restaurants and waiters/waitresses. They also deliver close by so that's a huge plus

The food here is always good and you can tell it's fresh. I've tried several items in the menu but the general tso's chicken and the egg rolls are hands down the winners. I normally get the same cashier who is always so pleasant. This is my new go to Chinese restaurant.

Once again Chef Chen has come though... Today I ordered for my team at DSW & the family dinner was perfect... The honey chicken, special fried rice and chicken wings were a hit.... The team loved it and raved about it... Thank-you again Mickey & Jessica ....

Our entire meal was excellent! We ordered special fried rice, cream cheese wontons, and honey chicken. The rice was not greasy and it was delivered promptly. Our new favorite Chinese restaurant!

Found this restaurant by accident three years ago, and I've been a steady customer since then. The food is consistently delicious. The chicken and beef dishes are outstanding! Plus, the portions are huge and the cost is more than very fair. You can also order Chinese style dishes for authentic taste and appearance.

In the realm of neighborhood staples, Chef Chen is our go to place for Chinese. Always fast, consistently delicious and a serious knack for good customer service.

Best I've had in a very long time. My food tasted fresh arrived hot I even received a courtesy call when my food was ready. I'm excited to try every item on the menu

Food has really fallin' off... Shrimp use to be big, now they are small, seasoning is off and food is bland.... Just not as good as when I first starting eating there

For Under 8 dollars you simply cant beat it I had the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce it came with 6 jumbo shrimp, chicken fried rice and a delicious Won Tong Soup.. Everything was really good and very affordable will def be back

Been ordering delivery from here for 11 years. Always delicious and arrives fast and hot! Price is reasonable as well! They already know me and always throw in some extras for me! Thank you Chef Chen!
