I've been here before and have never been disappointed until today. I asked the waiter what he's favorite dish was.. He recommended the fish. Little did I know it was a full fish with head and eyes. Lesson learned from now on I will make sure to ask if it's a full fish with eyes, mouth, scales and everything. I can't do it. I couldn't even look at my dish. I guess I'm that person. However, I told my waiter and he said I would charge it anyways. He didn't offer an alternative. Then he said he's get the manager and I said please do. Manager arrived and didn't introduce herself. I explained the situation and said it was no one's fault. I said I'm hungry and I guess there was miscommunication. She was not accommodating at all. She tried to blame it on the waiter. I quickly defended the waiter and explained no one is to blame. She never offered another option or anything, just walked away. At which point my date lost his appetite and now we were waiting their verdict. I had to get up and ask for her again. I asked her to charge me for what I had consumed only. And she still wanted me to pay for everything even though I didn't touch or eat anything. I stated that I lost my appetite after her arguing with me when all I wanted to do was eat. That I was hungry. I even offered to tip the waiter due to miscommunication. I was willing to pay for two meals if needed as long as it was corrected but all she did was argue. When I went to the counter to pay, the phone rang and she answered. To what I guess was the owner because she proceeded to speak about the entire situation in front of me. More of the story: Ask questions before ordering.

This place does not seem like much from the outside, but it's definitely a rich place to eat if you are into Central American dishes. I personally love their breakfast menu. I usually order the huevos con chorizo, meat of choice, home style beans, and corn tortillas. I'm never disappointed with the food or the portions. If you want to eat a complete meal and feel satisfied, this is definitely the place for you, best of all the prices are reasonable. The most I ever spend here is about $40 bucks and that's including meals for three people with tip included. The service is always great and staff here are dedicated to pleasing your needs. I will keep going back without a doubt. Tip, get here early if you are going for lunch because it's a packed house, however I never wait more than 10 minutes for a table.

We felt rushed to order but the food was delicious. The inside could use some updating/cleaning.

The outside might not be that inviting but the food won't disappoint. I'm a Miami local (and Guatemalan) and this place is definitely one of my favorites-- been here countless times. The tortillas are freshly handmade and simply amazing. fyi: the tip is included on every check even if it's just 2 people

The only reason why I am giving this place a one star is because of the repeated rudeness and un-friendliness of all of their waitresses. I work close by and the food is good, however every time I come I get horrible service. Every single waitress that has taken care of me, has an attitude, no matter how nice I try to be. This has been the same experience of my other coworkers that also come here and have lunched on other occasions. Their unpleasant nature overpowers the good food. I will rethink coming back here again just because of this. If anyone has suggestions of similar food and quality with a nice environment, it would be really appreciated.

We love to come here, as the food is so good and always on point, I honestly can't say anything bad about this place. Anything that you order will taste great you wont be disappointed at all.

I've been here many times and I always go for the smaller plates (appetizers) because an entree is too much for me. I suggest sharing with someone if you are going to order a main dish. The pupusas and enchiladas are great, the flavors are authentic and delicious. The corn tamale with cream is an easy choice, if you're feeling something quick and tasty. My only complaint is the plate they serve the enchilada, its the size of the actual enchilada so most of the food ends up on the table. Even if you eat carefully, you'll find some of your peas and food jumping off the plate so if you choose to order it, be sure to ask for an extra plate or a larger one. Tip: ask for your bill after getting your food because otherwise you'll be waiting a while for your check. The servers tend to huddle around and talk instead of serving their tables.

Came for lunch last week. When we got there, there was no wait, but shortly thereafter there was as steady wait of a few minutes. The service was non-attentive and not at all pleasant. The waitress would come over to take our drink and food orders and would not smile and basically just said what do you want and that's it. Whenever we wanted anything we had to flag down a server. I orderec the Antojitos Chapines, which has two tacos, an enchilada, a chuchito and a pacaya. A pacaya is made from a type of palm tree. The chuchito is basically a tamale. I enjoyed the food, but it wasn't wow. The prices are good for the portions.

I like to come here with fiancé. It's in Calle Ocho and it's an authentic Guatemalan spot :)

This place is a joke. I called to lace an order double check twice and asked me to come in 20mins. Get to the restaurant and they have no idea who took my order and is not In The computer. No one apologize for the inconvenience and sat there for 10 more min with no one addressing the issue. Didn't order and left. Terrible service but can't speak about the food.

I love this place!!! Its small and always full which is the only problem I have with it, but that just tells you how good it is. I think this is where I went to eat for my highschool graduation and many times since. If you're from Guatemala, go there it tastes just like home, if you're not and want to try food from a different country, go there as well. The place is decorated like Antigua Guatemala, which is an old colonial feeling. I always get pupusas, but the Meal Of the House is good too and is big enough for two people to be seriously full. And if that didn't convince you: freshly made tortillas. Nuff said.

I have visited this restaurant a few times as the food is not bad bit salty but ok. However, the service is deplorable. The last time I went we stood there waiting to be seated for at least 20 minutes, no one even acknowledged our presence (most of the waitresses were talking amongst themselves)yet 15 minutes in another group comes in and they are quick to attend to them and of course I complained since I had 2 kids with me that were very hungry and they had us just standing there. We also noticed a big difference when our check came. Seems that if you have a group of four or more (doesn't mater if they are non eating babies ) they will charge you their mandatory tip. I guess this is why the waitress could care less how they perform if they will get the same compensation regardless. If what you are looking for is central american food I suggest go elsewhere, their are *many other places near by that have far better service', with probably better food, and they dont include tips on the bill,

The BEST Centro American restaurant in MIA. I used to go when the restaurant was in a shopping center. Difficult parking but it was worth the hassle. Now, after 13 years that they have being at this location; I'm still their fan. The BEST PUPUSA, Great customer service and I feel like home. Lo mejor de Miami.

This is the second time I visit this Gem of a restaurant. My mother in law is from Guatemala and highly recommended that we go there to enjoy her culture. The place is large but the seating is tight, however the great food MORE than makes up for it. We went with two small children and five adults. As an appetizer we ate pupusas de queso and chicharron with the BEST being chicharron! I HIGHLY recommend the Pickled PORK and the tortillas are FRESH! We will go back again soon!

My brother was in the mood for Guatemalan food and I had never tried it, so I joined him for lunch at this place. As I walked in, I was surprised to see that it was filled with a decent amount of customers. I had driving by this unassuming place for years but I began to think hat I had been missing out. We took our seats and the waitress quickly gave us our menu and took or order. We ordered a chile relleno(stuffed pepper) and pupusa(cheese filled tortilla) as an appetizer. The chile relleno was a bell pepper stuffed with flavorful shredded beef, dipped in a egg batter, and deep friend. It was served in a little ramekin and smothered in a tomato sauce. The pupusa was a tortilla stuffed with cheese and served with a vinegar cabbage coleslaw. Both were good. Our order came shortly afterwards. I had the cerdo adobado(seasoned pork) which came with all the traditional fixings of frijoles molido(re-fried black beans), creama(sour cream), quajada(queso fresco), and corn tortillas. The pork was grilled and seasoned with an annatto marinade which the left the pork tinged a reddish-orange color. The marinade charred on the grill and left dark crunchy patches of smoky caramelized goodness. The side dishes were tasty my only complaint was the quality of pork used. It was tough and chewy. My brother ordered the pacaya, a traditional Guatemalan vegetable, which is battered, fried and smothered in tomato sauce, just like the chile relleno. The pacaya was the surprise, because I had never tried anything like it in my life it. It was stringy and bitter. I wasn't fond of it but it unique to try something new. Some research later uncovered that pacaya is the immature male flowers of a palm tree species and is considered a delicacy. I would rate this food as average. Nothing surprised as being over the top or excellent but the food is good. I will definitely be back again to explore the menu and try new Guatemalan dishes.

They have the best Guatemalan food in Miami, restaurant is nice inside. I've been coming here for years. The pupusas are really good here I'm surprised better than in many Salvadorean restaurants. If you want to try really taste food and at a good price I recommend you to come to La Antigua Guatemala.

First time trying guatemalan food, i have to say it was excellent. I order the churrasco de asada so delicious. The pupusas were really good, being that it is a Guatemalan restaurant and not a Salvadorean restaurant. The platanos con crema y frijoles where so good.
