Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

For those of you south of Miami, and day-dreaming of Laurenzo's in North Miami Beach, this spot can give you a good fixin'! I walked into here after having a good meal at Tango's across the parking lot in the same shopping strip. Yes, it's tiny compared to the Laurenzo's. Yes, there's less variety of goods. But this market is typical of small markets found in Italy. You'll find yourself going into various rooms from a tiny alley, and everywhere you look, you'll find efficiently stocked goods. No, you won't find fresh pasta here (unless if I missed something). But you'll find pasta - and they're made in-house. And yes, there are the packaged versions as well. There's the meat department that's one glass display long (aka really small) - but you can find reasonably priced meats from mortadella to salami and everything in between (including proscuitto di parma). One thing I must note, in comparison with Laurenzo's, is that I noticed there's more cooking utensils in order to make your Italian food the way Italians do - with Italian cooking utensils (unless if they were also made in China). They have a nice coffee machine in the back to make your coffee (although I didn't ask for one) - and they have a nice and small "party room" in the back that has a really homey vibe - as if you're in some wine cellar with hanging light bulbs. Truly romantic! This mom-and-pop establishment is probably one of the local ones that Miami can be proud of - especially since Anacapri has branched out to become Miami's homegrown Italian restaurant-chain. If you wanted to eat here, I cannot imagine why it may not be okay to snack here although I did not try it. However, should you want to eat, you might be directed next door - to their Anacapri Italian Restaurant. And in case if anyone was actually wondering... yes, the owner of Anacapri is Italian.

This market is actually part of the restaurant Anacapri, in Pinecrest. It occupies the left side of the space and can be reached through the restaurant. The market space consists of three small rooms, a small glass counter, a curio type piece with refined and exotic oils, and two or three freezers that line up on the right wall. It is not a cramped space, yet it is small. The first of the three rooms has dry pastas, flours, polentas, semolinas, cans of tomatoes, cans of vegetables, cakes, panettones, and other things like candy and chocolates. The second room is a deli room with cold cuts and gift baskets. There is no deli clerk and in it's place the cashier will help you here. The usual deli items, like prosciutto, pancetta, mortadella, mozzarella, and sausages are found here, plus some meats I haven't seen at other places. And the last room has several bottles and cans of olive oil, but most importantly, a display where you sample the several brands of extra virgin olive oil available. The freezers across this area are full of fresh pasta, and lots of frozen dinners, like lasagna, manicotti, cannelloni, meatballs, chicken francaise, among the wide selection. You also find some sauces, mainly bolognese, alfredo and pesto. And then the little curio, right across, with the truffle infused olive oils ranging from $50 to $200. I came here looking for some extra fine flour (00) that I wanted to use for making pizza. Yes, that same flour is available elsewhere, something I found out after the fact, but I had been looking for an Italian market in Miami and this fit the description. While here, I picked up some dry pasta I hadn't seen at other places, some olive oil (after I tasted it, which is the coolest feature of this market), and some frozen dinners, just because. My purchase made me happy. I really enjoyed the fresh flavor of the EVOO plus the peppery taste in my throat, but the best thing I got at the market was a frozen meat lasagna. I reheated it in a sea of marinara and mozzarella cheese, and out of the broiler came a restaurant type lasagna, with melted cheese and marinara bubbling around. Without a doubt, the most delicious frozen dinner I have ever had. I immediately made plans to go back. On my second visit I got a bunch of ready made sauces, fresh pasta, mortadella, more frozen dinners, and some dry pasta. I noticed they sell wines, but I have a special place for wine and I don't stray from there. I also got some biscotti, and I secretly wished Anacapri Italian Market had a bakery. Not surprisingly, everything was really good again. The sauces were good, not the best, but they will do in a pinch. The frozen dinners were amazing again, but I was really surprised with the mortadella. I am a big fan of mortadella, ever since I was a kid, and I have eaten it everywhere I have traveled to. This mortadella was outstanding. Next time I go, I have to find out who makes it. Believe it or not, this small little market, with its very limited selection, probably due to the space and the location, is the best we got going in Miami. If you want exotic dry pasta and Italian groceries, the selection is very limited. I guess you could consider Anacapri Italian Market a quick mart type place. But, if you make this market your source of frozen Italian dinners and more, maybe this is the best we have in South Florida. It may all be a matter of perspective... Then again, I don't know. One thing is for sure, the frozen dinners are just that good!

Some people go out to simply eat (boring) and others go out to enjoy each other's company, the food, the ambience and life. My beautiful wife and I go out for dinner at a minimum three nights a week, sometimes with the kids and others without. Since we noticed that Anacapri had more than one location, we decided to visit them all to test on the consistency of the restaurant. Our picks were: Tortalini Bolognese, Meat Lasagna, Pear & Gargonzola fidecco, Veal Rotolato. At ALL locations these dishes tasted the same DELICIOUS! I can't imagine why someone won't appreciate Anacapri. My only thought is that they are in lack of serious attention.

This neighborhood Italian restaurant has lost a lot of its heart & soul that used to be their normal...the service is not up to standards and the food is not prepared with enough care to taste delicious. I have been going to this restaurant as long as I have lived in Pinecrest, but I think this was the last time. My recommendation to the owners are pay attention not only to your updated look and decor, but more importantly to how your staff is preparing your signature dishes. I assure you I am not the only Pinecrest resident that is moving on. Miami has too many places to choose with excellent food and service than to pay a high bill and receive sub-par food. Get it together!

I make a direct beeline to the freezer section and pick up the pear & gorgonzola pasta, ready to bake lasagna and ready to bake eggplant parmesan. Then to the dry Italian pastas and other imported things. Just prior to the holidays, I pick up various and sundry sweet gifts for friends and family. A very nice little market that reminds us of shopping in Italy. Try it. You'll like it.

This is a great place if you are after authentic Italian products. Great selection of dry pasta as well as well as frozen. Love the small shop feel. Just like in the old country.

i think this is a great italian market. Tiny and its wall to wall food and wine. You can pick up the special homemade pasta they make at their restaurants and take them home..for a much lower price than the restaurant (ex. fiyocchi + gorgonzola is 7.99 & 4.99..restaurant charges $20) Anacapri also makes their own pasta sauce that they distribute a block away from the market..so you can bet it's fresh and tasty for your homecooked meals. The meats are okay, although a bit high priced for common meats you can find elsewhere. personally i'd rather get them at whole foods or fresh market instead.. The pasta's aren't fresh...but in the end its all getting boiled..and it still tastes great. Me Likes.

Wonderful small italian market in Pinecrest. Their bresaola is excellent and they have a great variety of italin dry pastas. Their catering is affordable and very good. Recommend them highly.
