We are Shula's fans and even had our wedding reception at Shula's on the Beach in Fort Lauderdale. We can't say enough about how great everything is - even the butter is better than average. HOWEVER... This review is for Shula's Steakhouse in Miami Lakes. It is the original. The ambiance is "Old Florida" and though clean and quiet it's nothing special. I believe that the restaurant serves as the attached golf course's clubhouse dining (sandwiches) during the day. The tables wobble and the chairs are very uncomfortable. The bar is unremarkable and a little dysfunctional. Restrooms are clean but obsolescent and worn. This said, the food was great. My wife had the 6 oz fillet and I had the lamb. We cook meat at home better than anywhere, but Shula's has the advantage of better quality than we get at Publix, so it was a treat. My wife loves the Wedge salad, and the I never send back Shula's Lobster bisque although more than half the time I do at other restaurants. With any steakhouse, send your steak back if it's not to your liking. We spoke to somebody in the parking lot who "let is slide" and this is ridiculous - the cost of returns is built into the price everybody is paying, and when you pay $40 for a small fillet it better be great. At Shula's it usually is, but if not they're more than happy to take care of it FAST. We'll never go back to this (Miami Lakes) Shula's. We'll make the trek east to Shula's on the Beach in Fort Lauderdale because in this case the environment is more comfortable and this may make the food taste better,. It makes for a much better value, anyway.

Came here for a business dinner. Loved their mac n cheese. The mushrooms were delicious. Steak? A tad over rated. The ambience is nice. I recommend it for dates and meetings.

I came here with some friends for Miami Spice. I ordered the lobster bisque, 6 oz. filet, and cheesecake. The food overall was okay. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't terrible either. My only complaints are that the lobster bisque came out lukewarm and that the filet was just a tad dry. It took a really long time for us to get our main course dish, despite there not being a lot of people dining. Other than that, the service was great. If the food on the regular menu tastes like the Miami Spice menu, I think that it's definitely overpriced. Overall, not a bad place. But I'd have better steak for less.

Excellent. The filet mignon was heavenly tender and melted in my mouth. The lamb porterhouse was to die for. The service was spectacular. Overall great local steak house for us. Oh and the blackened scallops, yummy.

My steak was perfectly cooked and yummy! Grilled asparagus was very good, too! I subtracted 2 stars as the crab Mac and Cheese was dry and the service for a 75 dollar per person meal was mediocre and sporadic.

Brought my wife and her twin here this evening for a birthday dinner. Our server, Alicia was outstanding and so was the service, as usual. The dinner was excellent. The cowboy steak, bone in filet mignon and the Kansas steak were absolutely scrumptious. The wine Alicia recommended, the Cigalus, is a must try with any of these steaks. We love Shula's for its romantic elegant setting, but the service and delicious foods keep us coming back time after time.

Celebrating another Birthday at my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Shula's always feels like home. From the minute we walk in and are greeted by Patricia to the amazing service provided by our friends, Roman and Alicia, to the always perfect steaks. Shulas never disappoints!

We love Miami Dolphins but You don't have to be a Dolphins fan to love this restaurant. The whole experience was absolutely perfect. The best steak house ever! Sadly I live in California and we don't have a Shula's yet... The service was excellent. The ambiance classic the wine selection was superb and did I mention the food was amazing...! I can't give 10 stars but Shula's definitely deserves a standing ovation.

Good steak great service. Nothing to loose your self. The price is a little high but is a good quality meat. I won't go crazy for it, there are better steakhouses in miami.

Great, consistent steak. There are very few places in Miami that I can honestly say have had excellent steak for 15+ years. Shula's is one of my family's favorite celebration spot. To start, their BBQ shrip is unqie. You get shrip, stuffed with basil, wrapped in bacon and barbecued perfectly. If you want, the waiter will make a presentation of all the meats, carfully explaining what each cut is like. I highly recommend the filet or the bone in cowboy. For dessert, the baked apples and the chocolate lava cake can't be missed. You'll definitely leave happy.

We went for Valentine's , we made a reservation more than 15 days in advance asking for a booth . We were seated in a partial booth so we asked to be changed, they put us on a booth by the bar . Appetizers consisted of lobster bisque and Frite calamari. Good and quick . Entree was the 48 oz porterhouse, not tender , flavorless and sautee mushrooms, 30 minutes wait . Meat was not medium rare . Dessert was molten chocolate with whipped cream and ice cream, no garnier sauce . Another 30 minutes plus of waiting . Our waiter was young and nice but need some training , she didn't offer bread or sauce to go with the steak. We asked for bread and bearnaise sauce . No salt and pepper either in the table . Big deception was the dessert was soooo plain , no strawberry, a touch of green maybe , something special considering it was Valentine's. The restaurant remodeling came out very nice , and it's 5 minutes driving from us , however, next time I will drive all the way to Smith and Wollensky or Capital Grille where for the same price you can get better quality of food and better service .

The staff is co as hell and friendly. I came here on a bday vacation with my girl and I had a craving for some island favor and went with the conch. Oolite ''a menu looked yummy abs affordable without breaking the bank too much. The conch corn-chowder is so freakin yummy and I can't describe it. Try it for your self. Comfort island food meets Americana!

Service was impeccable. I have never seen better. Bottom line, this restaurant had available tables the entire Friday evening while I was there. That should tell you something. For $100 per pound steak, I would say Shula's was average. I had the trio. Three 2 ounce chunks of filet mignon, perfectly prepared to my order. One was presented as peppercorn, one as Oscar (seafood), and one with cheese. The peppercorn was absolutely overpowering. Large peppercorns on a tiny piece of meat were too much spice (and I like spicy) masking any flavor of the beef. The Oscar topping was mediocre and the cheese topping was as well. Sides are pretty basic and unflattering given the expense of the overall meat. 5 kinds of potatoes, 2 kinds of asparagus and spinach. Each sized large enough for 4 people. What do you do when you want some variety for 2? Restaurant décor was functional, but not elegant for this price point. Overall this was a mediocre to average experience for the money. I vastly prefer Ruth's Chris over Shula's.

Good food. Awful service, if ur servers name is Jordan run as fast as u can. Getting a straw and a silverware at this place is harder than task than the Dolphins winning a game these days. Again, the food is good but not worth the aggravation!

If you give this steakhouse less than 4 stars, you obviously do not have the palate of a real carnivore. Period. I came here on a rainy night after hearing good things about this steakhouse. I'm a sucker for a nice piece of meat - Smith and Wollensky, Texas de Brazil, El Porcao, my brother's BBQ churrasco - if it once mooed, I'm game. To make a long story short, my husband and I were not disappointed. When we opened up the menus were were delighted because there were so many choices! Appetizers included things like soups (Lobster Bisque, yum) and seafood such as BBQ shrimp and lobster tail. Entrees ranged from a 12 oz. filet mignon to their famous 48 oz Porterhouse. Their sides included Crab Mac 'N Cheese, Lobster Mashed Potatoes, mushrooms, hash browns, and spinach (just to name a few). In order to fully enjoy the entree, we decided against an appetizer (I would've had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, had I had a choice). We both ordered some red wine and the filet mignon with one side of steak fries and one side of broccoli. The broccoli (my choice of course) was surprisingly a big hit. It came with the most delicious sauce I have ever had (hollandaise sauce). I actually started dipping my steak in it (I know, a mortal sin -sorry!). The meal was DELICIOUS. We looked like we'd never eaten steak before with all the "Mmmm's" and "Oh, my God's" we were inserting between bites. Besides the perfection of the meat, the portions were also perfect. After the meal I had a lapse of judgment and decided we would order a desert to continue to fill up our already overly stuffed bellies. I ordered the Molten Lava Chocolate Cake. It was absolutely heavenly. Please have that. And if not because you're still hungry, just have it for the sake of not passing up such a delectable dessert. Be a glutton - I won't judge! After the meal we sat there for about 20 minutes in a comatose state. Seriously, we couldn't move. And at the same time, we were so satisfied. When the check came and we saw the irreparable damage that had been done to my hubby's wallet, we were actually okay with it. It's expensive. Very. But if you're out for a nice steak dinner, you know what you're in for.

This is the only real deal steakhouse I've found in Miami lakes. As a matter of fact, the best in the shula chain also. I've frequented this location for years when doing lunch business meetings or a quick dinner with coworkers. They have a good wine list, and definitely this is a beef lovers place. The selection on meats are comparable to any steakhouse miami has to offer. In regards to meat temperature, this place can be hit or miss, I assume according to the chef. I always ask what medium rare means to the server, and proceed from there. I hate an over cooked filet. It's a romantic setting too! It's a true gem in the suburbs!!

Had dinner here last night and split the 48oz T-bone with a friend. The chef took it off the bone and it was served sliced with each of us getting some filet and strip. It was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. No need for steak sauce and I could have used a butter knife to cut the meat. Other top steakhouses may have an edge in number of menu items and decor but if it is the steak you are after, Shula's matches up and in my opinion surpasses them all.

I had to come to the area three days for work. When I saw the name Don Shula on the hotel and restaurant I was so happy. I remembered so well this great American football player and coach legend. My happiness was short lived when I found a live beattle on my bed. I went ahead and killed the beattle with my shoe and it landed on a corner of my room. It was my believe that the next day the dead beattle was going to most likely be swept away by room service. It is true that I did not said anything to hotel staff regarding beattle. We live in a semi-tropical peninsula named Florida; so you got to expect once in a while to run into critters. My second heart break came while dining the first night at Shulas restaurant located in hotel. The waiter never ask me if I wanted a drink or anything else. I simply was given water so I went ahead and ordered my food. I had chimichurri steak with black beans and white rice. The black beans and rice were quite delicious yet, the steak was hard and not tasty at all. The second night at the hotel I decided to give the restaurant a second chance. I was seated on a tiny, dark (no light bulb by table) table that makes you feel like you are seated on the hallway of the restaurant. Therefore, I ask the waiter I wanted to seat on a table that was to my right handside. The waiter said despite the fact the table was empty that she could not seat me there due to the fact it was a four people table. This table of four remained empty during my hour dining. This time a different waiter ask me if I wanted a drink. Therefore, I decided to have a frozen Margarita...it was horrible and the waiter not even once ask me if it was okay. The burger that I had was good yet when I went to eat my coleslaw I had to flag down the waiter to get silverware and napkin. I noticed that staff was very helpful to groups of three or more people. It make me feel like my money was worth nothing `cause I was just by myself. I would simply never come back to this place. My heart goes out to you Don Shula...your staff is sinking your ship to the ground.

I don't know how else to say this but Shulas has been consistently consistent for me since as far as I can remember. Everything on this menu is pretty much great. My favorite dish however is the dual 5oz filets, I feel they are the right size to get the internal temp and meat to my liking. They also bake their own fresh bread loafs and drop it off on your table, so fluffy and delicious to top with butter. Hot chocolate molten lava cake is where its at for desert to, give Shulas a try, you won't be disappointed and they use only Premium Black Angus Beef in all of their steaks.

Since they've redone the place it's gorgeous. The wait staff is very polite and attentive. I started with the lobster bisque which was excellent. They came by and pour a little sherry in it. Unfortunately it didn't have any lobster chunks in it. I ordered the 22oz cowboy steak medium rare. It was a little overcooked which I can handle however it was horribly bland. I put salt and pepper but there was no helping it. It's unfortunate for an infamous steakhouse to serve such a bland steak. I was with a party of 15 and the general consensus was the same. I was tempted to go back in the kitchen and show them how to properly season a steak. Dessert was the chocolate soufflé which was awesome.

$140 for dinner for two should be really special and include many finer details. Unfortunately, beyond an excellent cut of $43 steak, Shula's was a disappointment. The waitress was rather rigid and impersonal. The bread was good. However, I didn't come here for the bread. The $10 side salad was simply lettuce tomato cucumber onions and rather runny bland ranch dressing. They couldn't even add croutons. And the pepper came out of a shaker instead of a grinder. Sad. The $10 baked potato was big but dry, not hot, and didn't even come with butter. You shouldn't have to ask for butter with your baked potato. Okay, so they threw in a nice side of scallions, cheese, and bacon bits. Actually that little highlight is the kind of detail I expected, but didn't get, throughout the whole experience. Even though the 6 PM dinner time was a little on the early side, it shouldn't have been overwhelmed by loud golfers at the bar. My wife and I had difficulty hearing one another across the small table and we basically felt out of place especially when we received the bill. I must remember that the Outback steakhouse is just down the street and offers a tastier and overall better deal. I really truly do expect a more complete experience for that kind of money.

This was our first time at Shula's for my wife's birthday and we had a fantastic experience. They have the finest cuts of meat I have ever seen, (they come out with a cart and present them to you as they give you your menus) and grilled to perfection. We ordered the calamari fries as our appetizer, the crab mac and cheese and roast corn for our sides and finished it off with a molten lava cake for dessert which were all amazing! The number one thing for me is service and Shula's has it. Our waiter was very friendly and tended to all our needs, we even got a mini-tour of the restaurant since we mentioned it was our first time there. We had a great experience, and we will be going back.

Not what it used to be. Food still good, and so is service, but upkeep of wine list and bar service? Not so much. I know the primary goal here is to get a steak and that is still good, but sorry. I am one of those that seeks the steak and the peripherals and the experience, not just a hunk of meat. I can get a nice chunk of meat at a market and make it here at home, truly. It just isn't living up to its original fame. I wish it was.

I had a Dinner meeting at Shula's on Wed night. I had lost a bet with my attorney and as a result had to take him and his girlfriend to dinner at a restaurant of there choice. I am a frequent visitor to the big 4 steak houses in Miami ( Palms, Morton's, Ruth Chris, Capital Grill) So i was taken back when asked to go to Shula's in Doral. That was by far the best bet I have ever lost!!!! Hands down it was the best steak I have eaten in over 5 years!!!!!! Both myself and Attorney ordered the Porterhouse. The steaks were cooked to perfection! I like mine Pittsburgh style and they nailed it. The steak was amazing!!!!!! The flavors from the steak were like a cornucopia run wild in my mouth. Truly the best experience I have had in years. The service was on point and the Mgr was very warm and caring. Kudos to the mgmt team at Shula's . In my mind the Big 4 have now been replaced by the only one to go to in my mind Shula's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place adds a touch of class and flair to your meal. They truly pay attention to every detail. Silverware is arranged properly, water goblets remain filled and napkins are properly folded. And that's when you arrive. What happens after, is truly magical. Whether you are eating at a more casual seating, the bar for example, with amazing bartenders Delvis and Marjorie, or eating in a more formal setting at a table, you will be taken care of with a first class style. I can not recommend this place more for the atmosphere, the food, the class and of course, the people. It will be a great experience. The obvious favorites at Shula's Steak House are the steaks, right? Well, I'm going to touch on something that is equally as well known... The Shula's Lobster Bisque. The server pours just the perfect amount of Spanish Sherry into the dish at your table, so you can see it for yourself. THe creaminess of the dish is truly awe-inspiring.

I've been to this Shula's a number of times over the years and within the last few months, so here's my take: Food: The bread, the sides, the main meals, and the desserts are excellent. Everytime I go my steak is excellent. My date got a fish entre this visit which afforded me the opportunity to taste there salmon for the first time. The salmon was light and flavorful and was a more than generous portion size. The steaks are obviously aged and very tender WHATEVER WAY YOU ORDER IT COOKED. Not too many steak houses can manage that. I'm sick of going to some steak houses that take a great thick steak and butter-fly it or worse yet smother it with gravy because they don't know how to cook it.....not hear....if you want a 3 inch thick cut filet cooked medium they can actually do that and still serve it 3 inches thick...hurrah hurrah! The bread is the best too; the sides are ala-carte but the portions are enough for two or three people. They spoiled us with a wonderful piece of cheesecake for a birthday too! And, the cheesecake is tops...it's not a cheap passive freebee....it's really wonderful. Price: It's expensive...but we typically always have leftovers....we never leave hungry. In fact, most times we are there, we can't wait to return. You get what you pay for. The meat is obviously aged to perfection.....and most cuts can be cut with a butter knife. The chef really knows his/her stuff. Kudo's to the chef or chef(s). Service: Well, this is why I provided four instead of five stars. The hostess and the servers are tops....BUT the bartender and the actual waiting service is not consistant from visit to visit with the portrayal of the restaurant. A restaurant in the top price catagory such as Shula's should always cater to its patrons. 1) A bar tender should never tell patrons that our appetizers can't be moved to our table. Finalizing a bar tab should not mean sacrificing unconsumed purchases....and to be told that this is not Chili's is even dumber. I've been to many fine restaurants that clear the bar tab and/or carry over the bar tab to the table...either is understandable. However, if we can't move our appetizer's to a table a few feet away, then they should offer the logistic transfer. But to say NO, is just unprofessional and looses sales. This is when the restaurant becomes to snooty for there own good. We probably would have spent more if that condition did not exist. 2) On one of our visits a few months back we ordered the sauteed mushrooms and they were so salty we could not consume them. We have ordered the same during other visits without any problem. And understanding accidents happen, we just figured they salted them twice by accident. Well, here's the problem....our waiter didn't frequent our table but once to take our order and again to offer dessert. Unfortunately, the servers and other table attendants were unable to understand (language barrier) that we were unhappy with the sauteed mushrooms. So, when the waiter showed up for the dessert request we opted not to get a dessert and communicating at this point the mushroom issue. Visually looking at the FULL & UNTOUCHED serving of mushrooms the waiter did not do anything to please us. It was like he had no ability or training to handle a complaint. And, subsequently no action....no removal from the check and not even an offer to have the manager talk to us. That's just poor training which once again, goes back to unprofessional. I've been to less pretenious establishments where EVERY table was greeted by a manager or assistant manager....and with these prices and a restaurant with only about 10 tables occupied...that would easily be acheivable subsequently offering a patron an opportunity to easily solve issues stated above. To recap: Definitely try this restaurant...as we intend too! However, don't be intimidated by the ambiance....get the manager and get results....tell the waiting and/or bar staff to get the manager...as we intend to do upon future visits with any problems or issues.

A local favorite when you are in Miami Lakes. From the moment you pull into valet you are greeted with a smile. The hostess are always ready and willing to find you a perfect table for that special dinner. The bartender at the bar always remembers your drink and you can tell it's a local favorite filled with locals and golfers during happy hour. If you want a quick meal with great service sit at the bar or the tables near the bar. Delvis and Hector are always on top of everything. When dining in the main dining room make sure to ask for Alicia or Patrone. My all time favorite appetizer is the Calamari's they are huge and DELICIOUS. I also like there happy hour bar menu mini sliders of crab cake, and the french onion soup is to die for. As for dinner, i like the filet mignon with the huge Baked potato loaded. If you save room for desert make sure to ask for the creme brûlée.

I love this steakhouse, I was surprised to see some of the reviews. The place is decorated like an elegant sportsbar. I like the atmosphere. My favorite thing to eat here is the Lobster Bisque, it is delicious! The steak is really good. I have been here three times in the last couple of months and every time has been great!

The food and service can be great but the key is to ask for Edgar to be your waiter. He is an old-timer and a true professional. He'll make sure your steak is perfect or he won't serve it. If anyone else serves you, this place drops to two stars. Service is so so at best. Food often comes out incorrectly cooked. Enjoy this place but ask for Edgar. If no Edgar, go somewhere else.

I can only review for the night we went, I know a lot of places vacillate in their service and their food but we definitely won't be coming back to Shulas. This place is way overpriced and our server made the night very awkward. The food we order was pathetic, the chicken? hard and completely overpowering in taste.

Classic steakhouse look plus football memorabilia. This is not the best steakhouse I've ever been to but its pretty damn good. Had a 12oz NY strip and it was well-prepared. Also had a side of lobster mash potatoes and they were damn good too. I'd go back again.
