Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Today was my first time at Domenico's. It will likely be my last. Let me say, first, that the food was decent. I had a slice of pepperoni. I could tell it had been reheated, as the crust was basically a cracker. Pepperoni was large and thin, taste was good. The mozzarella cheese sticks were passable. One of them had NO cheese at all. My chicken parm sub was tasty, and my wife's meatball sub also tasted okay. The problems, however, outweighed any positives. This place has no soda fountain--only canned drinks or water. This is a problem specifically when it comes to kids. And that takes me to my second issue: they have NO KIDS MENU. They won't even serve smaller portions of their regular fare. The family next to us had to order a full plate of pasta for a child. It took us more than half-an-hour to get the two subs we ordered. By the time our food came, our companions had finished their pizza and were basically sitting around. This was AFTER we had to approach the staff and remind them we were waiting for our food. There were three men standing behind the counter and only one man serving. He had four tables occupied, and yet it took more than 30 minutes for us to get our subs, while a pizza was out within 15. There are MANY better places for pizza and/or Italian in this city. If you're looking for something nearby, check Salvatore's.

I was missing a decent, casual Italian restaurant near my office until going to Domenico's. Nothing fancy but their pleasant service, overall clean appearance and delicious comfort food makes it OK with me. For one, they catered to an OCD foodie like me who wants plain bread instead of garlic rolls (don't take my elite away, I'm not a fan of garlic). Even though I showed up near closing time (a typical problem with my workaholic hours) I wasn't rushed to finish and was allowed to take my time and watch the movie that was playing. Instead of my usual bolognese, I tried to make it healthy with a plate of spaghetti Calabrese. Served with natural tomato slices, cheese and pasta served just right Aldente it made for a tasty dinner. My Caprese and prosciutto salad was huge, with generous slices of perfectly salted prosciutto and fresh tomato slices. It was a little bit on the oily side , and I prefer it with balsamic instead. I'll just customize it that way next time. Raspberry cheesecake hit the spot with a generous serving of the fruit topping. I was told they also do delivery in Miami Lakes office area, after which I plan to upgrade them.

Great food...not so great service ): service is better if you dine in...don't expect it for take out or delivery...at least 2 hours before it actually gets delivered. Horrible.
(1)Jonathan D.
Great pizza and friendly service! Always prepared and ready to go when pickup order is scheduled. If you love NY style pizza and Italian food, this is definitely the spot to hit up in Miami Lakes.
(4)Francis M.
Love this place!! The "Tortellini Alla Giacomo" is my all time favorite, but of course the pizza and garlic rolls are always a must! And the deliver!
(5)Izzy B.
STAY AWAY! I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza (how hard could that be right?) & a lasagna. Both horrible, the pizza was cold and hard (as my boyfriend puts it 6th grade cooking class pizza). They use meatballs that are sliced in half in place of the ground beef (which had no flavor). The guy taking the orders over the phone sounded like he was doing me a favor. This is my 2nd time ordering from them so shame on me! Save your money and order little Cesar waaaaaaay better then what I just ate.
(1)Anthony R.
First time ordering and will be my last! I ordered chicken parm and the chicken was dry and a quarter of it was black and like a rock. I don't understand how a restaurant can send food to a customer like this.I will post a pic.

My co-workers and I were looking for something new for lunch. Since Miami Lakes is not exactly known for its world-class cuisine, there aren't too many lunch options. I read Nedal's review of Domenico's and thought that maybe we'd found a new regular spot. Today is a rainy day, so the restaurant being empty wasn't really a surprise. The service at first was friendly and prompt, being sat immediately and getting our drinks soon after. However everything went downhill after the drink arrival. Since none of us had been here before we needed a few minutes to look it over before ordering. The waitress seemed a little bothered that we had asked for a minute and ended up ignoring our looks for another ten minutes before coming back over. Keep in mind that we are one of two tables in the entire restaurant, and while we were trying to get her attention she was mostly socializing with other employees. The menu is not very specific for the calzone and stromboli section, stating only that "additional toppings $1.00". I ordered a calzone with pepperoni and meatballs, while a co-worker ordered the stromboli (assuming that without adding toppings, it would just have cheese). Our other co-worker ordered the eggplant parmagiana sub. It was another thirty minutes before the food arrived, during which time the other table finished eating and we were the only table left in the restaurant. The eggplant sub and my calzone came out as ordered, albeit a bit lacking in flavor, but the stromboli was filled to the brim with mushrooms, olives, peppers and several other toppings. Since we had already been in the restaurant for almost an hour, my co-worker decided just to pick out the toppings and try to eat around it. Everything we had was dripping in grease and had no added seasoning. The upside, if you're into greasy food, is that the portions were enormous, easily each entrée could have fed all three of us. After we were finished eating, we had to wait again to flag down the waitress to request the bill and boxes. She brought the boxes right away, but simply told us the bill would be in the front. We walk to the counter and then had to tell the cashier what we ate. No itemized bill was available (they handwrite everything). My meal, consisting of a calzone and bottled water, was about $14.00. Not horrible, but overpriced for the quality. I give them three stars because it certainly wasn't the worst calzone I've had, however it just isn't anything that I would come back for. We ended up being late to work due to the service, and this was with an empty restaurant, so I would advise against Domenico's on your lunch break.

I can only review the take out because I've never eaten at the restaurant. Last week we ordered some pizzas as a friend recommended this place and I got to say I was really disappointed. The pizzas were horrible, the cheese had no taste at all and the sauce was salty oh and the crust was undercooked. Based on this horrible experience I don't think I'll try out the restaurant.
(2)Leo V.
First time ordering and the pizza did not disappoint. Great pizza keep up the good work.
(4)Nadine M.
One of Miami lakes' hidden gems! It's owned by an Italian family, giving it that "at home" feel. The pizza is similar to Brooklyn style pizza, large slices with a thin crust piled on with cheese. I also recommend the garlic rolls, So delicious!
(4)Ed L.
This place has the best pizza in Miami. Try the Domenicos prosciutto sub. The meatballs are out of this world. The fish with pasta is very fresh. They have the best Tiramizzu and Caneloni I have ever had The place is highly underrated. My wife comes from an Italian background and they swear by it. They are Italians. Enough said
(5)Mailin D.
This place is great. The crew have become like extended family. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. We're there weekly and even had my brothers small reception after there after he was married. It was about 50 people and they were super accommodating. We frequently use them for catering also. I've seen some reviews that are not great but if you go to a small mom and pop establishment that is billed as a casual, family style Italian restaurant don't expect white glove service. If you want to go somewhere laid back with excellent food this is THE PLACE!
(5)Keyla B.
This place is so underrated! People don't know what they're missing. One of the best pizzas in Soflo, if not the best. It's thin, chewy, with lots of cheese, and a crispy crust. It's perfection. I agree with everyone else's posts about their über greasy garlic rolls. They're not apologizing for it! Because the rolls are delicious! I've also tried their lasagna, which is equally impressive. Big serving.

A great pizza establishment is hard to find, especially when trying to remain consistent. Ive been coming here for a while, and even though I was dragged in by the pizza, its the pasta and other offerings that keeps me returning. Owned by a hard working Italian family, you notice the warmth and charm immediately upon entering. My first fore into Domenicos started with a slice and a "Domenicos" prosciutto wrap. The pizza, NY influenced, is large, sauce is robust and sweet, crust maintains its compusure and foldable. Foldable pizza is a must have character trait in this business. Toppings are fresh, and I have sampled everything from the Supreme to Hawaiian. The garlic rolls are delicious, and are a must have btw. Order with a side of marinara sauce and your set. If you skip past the pizza, order any daily special pasta. Pasta is made fresh daily by hand and never disapoints. From the baked ziti to the lasagna, their offerings are rewarding. One other note is their beer selection. One of the only establishments I know to carry authentic Italian beer, and im not talking Peroni. Dark Rosa Moretti is my personal fav. 7.9% APV for the brave. For desert, you cannot go wrong with any variation canoli they offer. In all, even though there arent many choices in the area, its worth traveling to. Miami Lake residents all know of this gem, however I recommend people in Pines and Miramar to check it out.
(5)Magda P.
I use to love this place. But there lack of hospitality and the wait time for food eating in its horrible lately. I ordered a calzone with spinach, waited 30 for it (the place only had 2 other tables occupied) and got a calzone with sausage. Seriously? Wtf!!! Excuse my french. I was so upset No one apologized for the mistake, so we left. Will not be returning!!!!

Clearly this is one of my favorite places to eat! It's amazing! I'm here almost every week because I can't get enough of the pizza on the garlic rolls... I've eaten my way through the entire menu and it is all great! It's like a real Italian restaurant in Italy... The pizza takes me back to my trips to Italy very authentic! The staff is friendly and helpful and will even prepare something that's not on the menu if you asked nicely and they have the time but don't tell them I told you! Tried the Domenico's sub, you can't go wrong with the cheese pizza and garlic rolls, and the beer is always super cold!
(5)Natalie L.
Never actually eaten at Domenicos as we normally do take-out or delivery. Their tortellini alla panna is the best! Ordering Domenico's while watching Game of Thrones is becoming our new Sunday tradition. Great service. Great quality food. Always a warm, friendly welcome when we walk in. Definitely a gem in Miami Lakes.
(5)Cid P.
Listen to me and I want you to listen to me carefully; this, IS the best pizza around these parts. Any time I'm in Miami Lakes my friends already know we're ordering from here. I've only had their pizzas. Peperoni and Margherita to be exact. It is greasy and YUMMY. Don't forget to order their garlic bread. They too, are fantastic. #KeepItLocal

Definitely a fan. I work close to Domenico's and usually go for lunch there once a month or so. Sometimes the office will order but as most places, it is much better to eat at the restaurant. The place is a good size, lots of pictures of the family and they all work at the restaurant. Some of the girls in the office really enjoy going there because there are usually a couple of cuties which work the front but the food is what motivates me. I have tried their pizza, baked ziti, lasanga, crab and lobster ravioli and alfredo sauce; I was satisfied with it all. The prices could be more economical for the portions (depending what you get - 6 crab/lobster raviolis for $13.00 for example) but they do bring garlic bread and salad, if you are so inclined. The tiramasu is great, hit the spot. This is a good place if you are interested in changing it up, did not bring home cooked food and are not interested in the restaurant chains in the area. They also serve beer and house wine but I would not know too much about that subject since I come here for my lunch break! :) I will be coming back every so often as I have been and will continue to try new things. If you are ever in the area - let me know. Lets do lunch.

I have been to Domenico's a few times. I have never been disappointed with the food. Its has always been really good and the prices are fair. The Chicken Francese with linguine covered in white sauce is my favorite. The garlic rolls, although extremely greasy, are awesome. With that being said, the reason for the low score, is the fact that the service reeks. The staff is young and are usually extremely slow, chatting in some corner of the restaurant, or no where to be found. If there is a game on the TV forget about it. This is the main reason we have stopped going. My husband refuses to go because he says the service sucks. The disposable utensils/plates are also a big let down.

I'm sorry Domenicos, I hate to do this. Don't know why I've had so many bad experiences with this place. Maybe I just got bad employees on a bad night. Domenicos has been around for a while & at first they were pretty good but over the years the quality has been gradually decreasing. Many times when my mom & I call to place an order we get someone who barely speaks english. Even the ones that do act like they have no idea what we're saying. We tried to order the Chicken Francese & the woman on the phone was completely lost. She had no idea what we were talking about. She had to go & get another employee to take our order because she didn't even bother to familiarize herself with the menu. The past 2 times I've ordered from them were the last straw & I'll explain why. A while back I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. I emphasized over the phone I want meat sauce, not meat balls. The guy over the phone gave a little attitude. I bet you're thinking "oh Katie, well you were kinda being condescending". Let me explain further. On not 1, not 2 but 3 separate occasions I ordered meat sauce & was given meat balls. And no it's not the same. Meat balls have a lot of seasonings, meat sauce does not. I don't care for meat balls for the most part. Several times I have enunciated clearly & politley meatttt saucccce. Since I can't count on the people taking the order to listen to me clearly, I have decided to clarify by saying "not the meat balls but the meat sauce. I have been given the wrong order a few times." Well the last time I justifiably clarified, my order was technically correct, but it didn't taste or look like it. The meat was so ground up it was almost liquified. I thought maybe it taste better than it looks. No such luck. It tasted like dog food with tomato sauce. I know because like many very young children who was curious about their dogs food, I've tried it & have never forgotten its taste. It taste like how it smells, HORRIBLE! I've had their meat sauce before & never ever did it look and taste like it did that night. I felt as though the employees thought I was being insulting & tried to teach me a lesson. I know it wasn't dog food & I'm sure they weren't seeking revenge, but how much can one person mess up a simple dish to the point of being inedible. On to the next & last experience. I will revisit the chicken francese order. You already know what happened on the phone since I explained it up top. Oh, I forgot one thing. The person who I was handed off to was very rude. The chicken comes with a pasta side & at most places & Domenicos in the past, you can chose whatever sauce you want on your side pasta. I asked for tomato sauce & he said no that they don't do that there, the pasta comes only with the same lemon sauce as the chicken. Now I remember having ordered a different sauce there before & I told him that it's never been a problem in the past. His reply "What here?!" me: "yes" Him: "Oh...well that's only for dine in." wtf! Since when? And why is it so hard to pour a different sauce over my damn pasta. It takes like 10 seconds! Anyways, when our order came, it was the worst chicken francese I've ever had. The chicken was bland & the sauce was awful. It was waaaay too thick. To me, it tasted like salted slime with the teeny tiniest hint of lemon. I'm just upset because this place use to be very good. I would order from them quite often. It was cheap & near by, but now it's gone so much down hill. Now I'm not sure if the manager or owner knows about what ever the reasons are for my bad experiences. It may be that this place just has horrible employees and management isn't aware. Well I hope this review will wake them up so they can make some much needed changes. Until they can provide these changes, Domenicos has permanently lost a customer. Sorry Domenicos. I really am :-(, but who knows, maybe enough time will go by & I'll give it another shot & revise my review.

I agree with most everyone on here. The service is horrible! If you guys don't want to be courteous and put up with customers, get out of the SERVICE INDUSTRY! Sheesh, I usually do not wish for a business closing down, but this place does not get any better. I hope they get a new owner that focuses on customer service, or move another business in that location. You guys suck!
(2)Al N.
Very generic, poorly prepared food. The service is terrible. The one server is rude and could care less what your dining experience is. Stay away.
(1)Jorge G.
#1 Half the tables were dirty. #2 Waitress was struggling to keep up, not friendly. #3 Garlic bread very greasy. #4 Can soda ! It's 2014 call Coke get a machine. #5 Pizza very greasy. Will not be back.

Best New York Style pizza you will find in Miami. I have tried several different NY style pizza and none compare to theirs. Great service every time I go. Family oriented location and family business. Would highly recommend to anyone.
(5)Frank M.
I love Italian food but I have to say I wasn't impressed with the treatment or the food. The place it looks like it hasn't been Clean in over a year, the person that took our order she didn't want to be there judging on how excited she was the we ask questions about the menu. Save ur money order domino ull have a better experience.
(2)Drewsie L.
Best pizza in Florida! Just as good if not better than NY pizza. Their pasta dishes are great as well. Authentic, very reasonably priced and just plain deeeelicious! If you are ever in Miami Lakes, you've gotta stop and try the pizza.
(5)Lauren C.
I had a ridiculous craving for pizza for a few days. I finally caved and decided to look up a place with great reviews in Miami Lakes and found Domenico's. I ordered 6 garlic rolls and a medium pepperoni pizza and I just wasn't impressed. The garlic rolls were very small. Probably best described as bite sized and served in a clear plastic lid for a take home dish. The taste was just average. The pizza is thin and greasy on top. I am fine with that. It was a good size for two adults and we had leftovers. Taste wise I thought it was decent. The server just didn't seem into her job and preoccupied. I really don't care except that I felt like I was burdening her to ask for anything extra once the food came. She wasn't rude but it seemed like after she finished the order she avoided following up on the food or refills at all tables. I had to call her any time I needed anything. There were only two other small parties there aside from mine. I spent $20 without the tip. I definitely felt the price could have been a little better considering the whole experience. If the service had been better I would have given 3 stars.
(2)Alex B.
I was looking to switch up the lunch rotation at work. I had the Spaghetti and red sauce daily special. The food was good, small portion though. It came with a small salad and some garlic rolls. I don't like that all the drinks are canned. I drink iced tea and I don't want to get nailed for a can each time I get a refill. Also, they only have sweetened tea. I've had the pizza there before and it was good. They also offer subs and all the standard items at an Italian place like this. Nice place to go to. Its clean, quiet, TV's in the corners, friendly staff. I'd eat there again in the future.
(3)Gina P.
Family run and owned Italian places are always the best and this one doesn't disappoint. Although the rolls are just okay their pies are always fresh and delicious. Go for the Profe Pizza, tomato, basil, Kalamata olives and prosciutto all for $15 and big enough for 3-4 to share.
(4)Carolyn R.
Update: service isn't what it was before. Sorry but had to drop a few stars down. From the Pizza to the pasta...everything is fresh and yummy. I've had the pizza, baked ziti is to die for. They put it in the oven before they serve so it comes out oozing, crusty, covered with ricotta, sauce and cheesy goodness!. Omgggg, mouth watering right now. The rolls are good also. Fresh and always warm with some oil and garlic. The home salad dressing is really good too. I love the pizza here. Best in Miami Lakes. Try the tiramisu also to complete the meal. Prices are good also.
(3)V G.
If you'd like some OVERPRICED Chef Boyardee and some iceberg lettuce with your balsamic vinegar, this is the place for YOU! After reading through the somewhat-okay reviews, we decided to fill my husband's pasta craving by making a quick lunch stop here. BAD IDEA. The garlic rolls were hard, my salad was DROWNING in balsamic vinegar and my husband's spaghetti tasted like it came right out of a can. The chicken didn't have any flavor and everything was drenched in pasta sauce. Neither one of us could down our plates and spent nearly $40 including the tip. The sole waitress isn't exactly loving life, either. It's probably the biggest attitude we've ever received from a server. As far as the atmosphere, there was a "regular" patron that was just walking around the counter, talking really loudly with the kitchen staff. We could hear him from our table, on the other side of the restaurant. It drove us crazy. If you want to know what it feels like to be punk'd, come here for lunch. Only it's real. And it'll cost you $30+. Enjoy.
(1)Daphne T.
OMG This place has the greatest Baked Ziti I've ever had in my whole life. One of the chefs, (Oscar) makes the most delicious meatballs known to mankind. Oh even the philly cheesestake sub is mouth-watering. Lasagna is heavenly :) I can tell you they use the most fresh ingredients and all the food is scruptious. I have never ate at the restaurant, Ive always gone to pick up my food and go back to work but it is always worth it. Deeeelicious food!!!!!!! Never been disappointed with any plate I have had there.
(5)Grisel L.
Dominicos is the neighborhood real Italian joint..not like the mexican owned neighbors in Main street. Their food is really great and authentic. They also cater which is extremely convenient when hosting large gatherings. I recommend their baked ziti and chicken park sandwich..
(4)Daryl M.
I love this place. It's consistently good, small family owned place. They cook with love and care about the customer. Just had an awesome service experience there that you don't see often.

Great Meatball Sub!! Good service.

Best Italian restaurant in Miami. Love the pizza and lobster ravioli with pink sauce is sooooo good. Service is top notch.

I had a little time to kill while in Miami Lakes, and being from New Jersey I love italian deli's. Since i haven't found many good Italian deli's in florida I decided to give domenico's a try(to satisfy my craving). The pizza was excellent. Honestly, some of the better new york style pizza I have tried in Florida. The service was good. I love cured meats, so I had to give the italian sub a try. The sub was pretty good. The assortment of meats was just right salami, cappicola, mortadella and ham with lettuce, tomato, balsamic vinegar and oil. However, being a Jersey loyalist I felt that the meat was good although I don't think that it was freshly sliced(big no no). I am also a fan of red wine vinegar on my Italian subs, and so far in florida the only Italian deli's that I have found put balsamic vinegar or italian dressing on their sandwiches. The bread was decent but I like my italian bread crustier. I thought it was good, but if I had to choose my favorite Italian deli in Florida I would have to pick Gustofino's in the Gables. If anyone in florida is aware of a Jersey style italian deli down here let me know. ciao!
(4)Natalie Q.
I don't know about you, but when I am in the mood for Italian, I prefer the small neighborhood, mom and pop shops, rather than the big chain spots. This one does not disappoint. I do not live in the neighborhood, but I did many years ago. This place did not exist at that time. Stopped in for an Italian sandwich because I was in the mood. Ordered the Domenico Sandwich, one of the sandwich specials for the day. So fresh, so delicious, it was just what the Doctor ordered. I'll be back soon.
(4)Evelyn F.
Meh. The pizza is pretty good. And pretty greasy. But sometimes you just crave a greasy slice. The rolls are decent. The service however sucks. The first time we ordered take out. The guy who took my order didn't give me a time when it would be ready, didn't take my name, didn't give me a total and basically hung up on me after "taking my order". I called back to get a time estimate and he quickly told me 15 minutes before hanging up on me again. When my husband got there 15 minutes later there was no pizza made, they had no record of our order (surprise surprise!) and weren't the least bit apologetic about it. We gave them two more chances after this visit (like to support local small businesses) and the service was equally terrible. Especially over the phone. Hire someone with phone skills and at least pretend you care about your customers. The competition up the street is 100 times better.
(2)Bertha G.
A small family operated, very casual Italian Restaurant / Deli. The staff is very friendly, cute, about college age kids. Decor is plain, very clean, with family photos and TV playing sports. Food was very fresh...homemade. My mom ordered the Chicken Corden Bleu which included 2 6oz pieces of boneless chicken breast, stuffed inhouse with generous potions of ham & cheese. This was served with Ziti in an Olive Oil Sauce. The Hawian Pizza was excellent!! Thin crispy crust. The garlic rolls were very good....with A LOT of garlic!! I had the lasagna and my boyfriend had the Cheese Manicotti - both were good but not wow! All entrees came with a nice house salad and 3 garlic rolls. Overall, good homemade Italian Food and Super InExpensive!!
(4)Eddie B.
Great place to eat, and the staff rocks.

Just by being a true Italian restaurant I'm a fan of this place. First of all I find that it conveys a homey feeling that makes me want to know whats behind the menu. It makes me open it with all the confidence that whatever I try is going to be good. When I sit down I pick the first thing that catches my attention. The first time I went I ordered Mozzarella Caprese, simple yet delectable. The pizza is one of the best that I've eaten. Crunchy, nutty, and delicious dough topped with perfectly cooked fresh toppings. If you're feeling hungry try the Deluxe Pizza or go light with the Nonno's Pizza. If you want pasta try one with white or red sauce,I have to say, they do put a lot of olive oil in the plain ones. The olive oil quantity is fine by me but some people don't like too much of it (like my parents). Now, let's talk about dessert. Before I die I'm going to order a Tiramisu to go.Specially, the almond one. It's good. More than good, è veramente buono. I have never ordered the same dish twice in Dominico's because I want to try everything. I really like this restaurant and I absolutely recommend it.
(4)Amado C.
Ordered slice of pizza and the quality of the toppings was not that good. In addition, added the toppings to the top of a cheese pizza without even trying to put additional cheese. Was not pleased with quality of food for the price I paid.
(1)Vivian L.
Great pizza, friendly staff, good prices too. All nestled in this shopping plaza. Owner's son is my sister's neighbor..small world.
