"Do you like donuts? Delicious Donuts? Well if you do, then you deserve some donuts!"* This donut shop on Merritt Island (aptly named "the Donut Shop") is the ONLY place we go for donuts (or, if we're feeling more fancy; "doughnuts"). It will provide for you not only delicious donuts but the charm of a family run old-school diner with two person booths, coffee in mugs and donuts on paper served in little red baskets. The interior is NOT FANCY, but it's homey and comfortable. THINK: would you rather have your donuts served to you by apathetic high-schoolers, or by a smiling family of donut makers? If I need to sway you even more, the multigenerational family who runs the shop are friendly and always have cute homemade seasonal aprons. Now to the donuts: are they good? The answer is yes! They are also very sugary (but what donut isn't...except for one of them, which I'll get to in a minute) - we're talking, if you're going to get a yeast raised chocolate dipped donut (a classic staple in the donut world) not ONLY is it chocolate dipped, but glazed as well! Make sure to get a coffee or a water to wash down the delicious sugary sweetness. For those of you who hate sugar and accidentally wandered into this shop and have just .85 in your pocket and haven't eaten for days, there's also old fashioned non-glazed donuts. Don't forget a few extra pennies for tax. My own personal favorite donut is the Buttermilk donut, although I risk creating a scarcity of them by even mentioning their tender goodness, because it seems to be one they create only in small batches. Imagine a donut made from a coffee cake, and then dipped in glaze. YUM. My husband's favorite is the "heavenly delight" which is like a Boston cream, but instead of a custard filling, it has a filling reminiscent of what's inside a twinkie! You can feel your pancreas crying insulin tears as you eat it. Other notable donuts include: glazed chocolate donut with chocolate dip and chocolate chips, cherry donut (if you like maraschino cherries), coconut donut and the assorted donut holes. They also have breakfast sandwiches and some "fancy" coffee drinks, but I haven't tried any of those. Bring cash, it's an inexpensive place to get a quick breakfast, and they have a credit card minimum. *if you get this "Pugs and Donuts" reference, you should message me because we will be instant friends if for some reason you also followed the youtube videos of Drew from Toothpaste for Dinner in 2007

I just discovered The Donut Shop. It's a small one-off donut shop with a nice menu. I went thru the drive-thru to place my order. The lady at the counter cheerfully took the order and came back with it in no time. I'd ordered a Custard Filled Chocolate Glazed and a Plain Cake Donut. Both were delicious, and so fresh! I will say that the plain cake donut was the best I have ever had. I can see that The Donut Shop will become my favorite donut shop. I am so lucky it is on Merritt Island.

What's not to like? They have donuts, muffins and other stuff and it all tastes like someone made it instead of a machine making it. I grab these as a personal treat on the way home from early morning bike rides to/from the gym and I take them in to work for the ocassional treat for the fellow cube dwellers I work with. Trust me when I say that people can tell when it's not some DD chain donut...and they like it too!

You just can't beat this place. Very polite staff, amazingly fresh and delicious donuts. Homemade bagels are great. Prices are very low. It's a 40 minute round trip from my house, and yet I find myself making the trip often on Saturday mornings. Two thumbs up!

Always love coming here and getting fresh donuts! Service is always great and fast. Sandwiches and other breakfast items are quick and decent. Wide selection of donuts! I highly recommend the Strawberry Shortcake donut...but hurry! They seem to sell fast!

I have been thinking about their iced chai tea since I had one a few days ago. It was delicious. The donut I had was good. I wasn't impressed with the breakfast sandwich.

Best biscuits and gravey in town but you have to get there early enough before they sell out cause the secret is out. Very friendly staff they know what your regular order is just love this place and the people that run it. Usually use the drive through but when we have the time the experience of going in is always present. Hope it always remains one of Merritt Islands "jewels". Lynda Ayers

It's hard to go wrong with donuts. When we saw this place en route to KSC we made a quick turn and got a half dozen in their convenient drive thru. The menu is pretty standard and the service was quick and friendly. Their coffee was ok, better than some quick stop places but not as good as coffee shop coffee. The donuts themselves were average. Again, better than Dunkin Donuts but no where NEAR as good as Donut King (Minneola, FL). The old fashion sour cream donut was so dry no one even wanted to eat it, and that's saying something!

The best donuts on the island. I grew up here and would stop in on my way to school every day. The owners are different, but the donuts are still the best. If you love cake donuts, here's the spot. I live up north now, but always make a point to stop in

Best donuts hands down. Love supporting small businesses like this. Very nice family and their operation and menu are simple (in a good way). would choose this place over Dunkin any day!

Okay, to start off, I love how small and authentic this place is. There aren't very many donut stores around here that are not chains. After reading reviews, we decided to give it try and it did not disappoint. There are tons of different donuts to choose from, a long with a variety of coffees and breakfast sandwiches. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese croissant, delicious! The croissant itself is huge, very well portioned and a crispy fresh flavor. Definitely didn't skimp on the cheesy goodness either! Also ordered a toasted coconut donut and oh man, I think I love coconut now. Huge donut with a sweet crunchy coconutty coating, only need one of these. Service was friendly and fast, can't complain about that! I will start coming here regularly now, I'm just sorry it took me so long to get here in the first place.
