Extremely unaffordable. I paid close to $30 for 18 basic sugar cookies with crystal sugar sprinles. The taste of the cookies leave much to be desired. Highly disappointed.

Two substantive yelp reviews steered me toward this place (yay, yelp) despite short, gutless reviews on google. I called last Friday morning to see if the shop might have a small cake available for an impromptu surprise party. I knew that I probably couldn't get a fancy cake, but my mom's tastes are simple. We agreed on a white cake with vanilla mousse filling and buttercream frosting. Marcy promised me a delicious, beautiful cake and my expectations were exceeded. The service was sweet and homey. The cake had four delectable layers. The cake layers were a luscious texture that was both densely rich and delightfully spongy without being either mushy or dry. The filling between the layers was smooth and flavorful without being excessively sweet. They know what they're doing. It looks like she keeps pretty busy with special events such as weddings. The sample displays in the window are highly elaborate and festive. When we arrived for the pick-up, she was decorating a wedding cake by hand and it was obvious that she puts a lot of love into her work. Now a little more background--the shop has been there for 70 years and Marcy has been in the shop since she was a little girl. She isn't computer savvy and was unfamiliar with yelp until she asked me how I heard about her shop. Ignore the google snipes and enjoy a wonderful cake from Mathers'. It sounds like she can make any fancy cake as long as she has some notice such as tres dulce de leche or anything else. Like I said, I opted for a simple cake and even that was delish.

What to do, what to do when you're 1200 miles from home and you need a bakery in the Melbourne, FL area??? Call Mather's!!! Once again I turned to Yelp for the answer. Seems like most of the bakeries had some sort of eatery attached within, something I didn't think seemed right. If I was looking for an eatery I would have looked that up. What was distinctive about Mather's Bakery is that it is a bakery and when I read the cake shop did cakes for one of the local hotels ( Crowne Plaza) I had some hope. What I truly after was a cheesecake which I didn't think any ordinary bakery/eatery could deliver. Upon talking to the helpful Marcy, I put my order in for a double decker cheese cake with a blueberry topping. The morning I picked up my order I walked into the bakery, a small cute shop with cakes showing off Marcy's true talents.. as I continued Marcy greeted me with such a southern charm... she's a really nice person. She went into the back to get my order and carried it to the front. I was so impressed with what sat before my eyes as well as the others that were around..... The biggest, beautiful cheesecake I had ever seen!!! She really did a fantastic job. From there I brought it to my parents house straight to the refrigerator. This was no ordinary cheese cake and it wasn't an ordinary event. This cheese cake was for my mothers 70'th Birthday so it had to be spectacular. All at the party were delighted by the sight of Mather's creation in front of them. So many compliments were given on velvety texture and the fresh, oh so fresh blueberry topping. I'm a cheesecake snob!! This was truly one of the best cheesecakes I've had. Marcy had mentioned that it was her fathers recipe. A true Italian cheesecake!! Thanks, to Mather's Cake Shop and Marcy for coming through!!

I live in the San Fransisco Bay Area. I needed a yummy birthday cake for a party in Melbourne, FL. Read a few 5 star reviews about Mather's gave them a call. What a nice lady Marcy is. She took care of everything. The chocolate cake was delicious and moist. Also.... The way she decorated the cake with hand made flowers that look real and presented it in the box.... Just primo. I totally recommend this cake shop.

Mather's has been here for as long as I can remember and I have had a number of cakes over the years. Most recently we had a cake made for my daughter's birthday party and it was awesome! This place truly has mastered the art of cake making and decorating. The cake and frosting was as good as it gets and the decorating was masterful!

We were referred to Mather's because she is the go-to-bakery for the Crowne Plaza, where we were having our wedding. Our cake tasting was amazing and the wedding cake turned out gorgeous. The bottom layer was vanilla with strawberries and a custard...yum! The middle layer was chocolate with chocolate ganache and raspberries...super yum! The top layer is marble and will be eaten next year on our anniversary...but I'm sure it's yum too! All my guests loved the cake. Now, my only advice, don't be deceived by the slightly flamboyant cakes you will see in Mather's shop. She can make anything you want. My cake was pretty simple and basic...and did I mention gorgeous. Two thumbs up here!
