When you first walk in, Capt. Katanna's seems small and dark with a bar that dominates your first impression at the door. We chose to sit outside and the riverview seating was very nice and comfortable. The decor leaves something to be desired and doesn't look like much. The seating feels "touristy" with plastic tables and deck chairs. However, the building and decor aside... the service is fantastic. Our server Sherry and the other girl "Vee" who greeted us as we came in were both fast and friendly. The entire service experience was great. The bartender (who we assumed might have also been either a manager or owner) also made rounds to make sure drinks were okay and that everyone was taken care of. We never had to wait or ask for refills and anything we requested throughout our meal was brought immediately. We did have a small miscommunication between our server and the bar that resulted in a switched drink. Both our server and the bartender apologized and were quick to remedy the situation. Even removed the drink from the bill to make up for it. Additionally, the food was great. For appetizer we had the smoked fish dip and bacon wrapped scallops. Both were light, fresh and tasty. Scallops are a true test. These were fresh and cooked perfectly. For entrees we had the Katanna's Reef and the Seared Tuna. Both were fantastic and filling. The seafood in the Reef were a little small, but the overall flavors were rich and flavorful. The tuna was done perfect and was melt in your mouth. Came with a great seaweed salad, sides and house made dipping sauces. We heard there was lava cake to be had for dessert but we were so full we didn't even make it that far! Only reason for the 4 Star rating instead of a 5 is the decor -- it's dated and can be a turn off. Overall, great service, and great food.

Inside smelled of mildew when we first walked in so we sat outside on the deck. View of the river was beautiful. Unfortunately outside is the smoking section so we had to breath smoke through the whole meal. My husband order the Maui and it was raw, he sent it back and the second order was raw also. I ordered the Bombay Shrimp. It was awesome, it's sad to see the place was so bad. I just moved here and was looking for some place to take all of our visitors, this isn't it.

Wide variety of items on the menu; seafood, greek, american. The food was satisfactory, but it was nice to sit on the river.

We've been here several times. We've sat inside and out. We enjoyed sitting outside, and like that there is a bar outside. Really love sitting outside and enjoying the view. We get the "bar fare" good when we sit outside and find it a wonderful experience with good food. Sitting inside is ok, but overall the place is dark - even with the lovely windows. That makes it a little difficult when we have older family members with us. The service inside tends to be on the slow side - but they are always courteous and able to answer questions. We've never gotten a bad recommendation from the staff. Overall we like this place, but do wish they would brighten the inside a little.

Great straight-forward seafood! Great prices and amazing riverfront views! Who cares about the furniture and decor if the food is good and the view is excellent! I am old enough to realize that modern design is often passed on to the customer & I don't want to pay for update decor! Very friendly waiter. Super personable with any effort! We will return!

Wife and I went there one Sunday for lunch. Step in the restaurant and it looked straight out of the 60s, so we sat outside. Waitstaff was super nice even though the bartender dropped a beer bottle on the guy sitting on the deck below. Oops! Ordered an oyster Po'Boy and the wife ordered fish tacos. BAD! BAD! Po'Boys tasted rotten, seriously! I've had my fair share of Oysters in my life. My first job was picking them in Wa state. Wifes fish taco was the worse I ever tried, no flavor at all. We will never go back. We were both sick for 2 days in bathroom. No Joke! Anytime we cant decide where to go we say Katanas and laugh.

We were trying to find a nice fancier place for dinner on the water tonight, & chose three places to check out before we made our final decision. We finally picked this place out which had a group on. We were able to save money, eat by the water and enjoy a nice breeze. Our waitress was nice and helpful. we picked out a chicken marsala & coconut crusted fish w mango salsa. We also picked out a chicken quesadilla which had a bunch of chicken and cheese. All of this for $31 the groupon price. I was nervous bc of the yelp and trip advisor review, but our appetizer and meals were a nice tasty surprise. Luckily we were not too annoyed by the wait time bc we were distracted by the wonderful view. I am giving this 3 stars for the oldness of the place bc it was a bit shabby, & how long we waited but again all was well our our orders, & my pretty simple Malibu and pineapple was fresh and yummy. They also have happy hour everyday from 3-6pm. Something like that. If you are looking for a place on the water, with pretty water views, or a place whe r you can park your boat and have a meal or hang at thew bar, check this place out. They say they allow service dogs. I did see a dog there that the people came off their boat, but make sure they know. We always end up finding a place that can have dogs with it even looking. We did not have our dog with us this time.

We stopped on a Saturday afternoon and so glad we did. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and my favorite were the mushrooms, yum! We sat outside and really enjoyed the water view. Will be back for sure!

Started when we got there, 4 open clean tables and 1 dirty table. Took them ten minutes to clean that one dirty table. Honestly felt like I had walked into twilight zone. Not the brightest people, that should have been the sign to walk out. Server was less than bright and the food was nothing more than nasty bar food. Had shrimp tacos the tortilla and chips were stale. Husband steak was tuff, kids meal was slim and stale chips. Pirce of advice don't waste your money or time!!

The view from the desk is lovely and there are several places to dock. I had the grilled Mahi. It was hard to tell it was Mahi as it was horribly overdone. I had asked for very little butter in its preparation but it was a severe disappointment for the price I paid. My daughter ordered the kids fried shrimp and got a fried fish basket. We ate it and she did enjoy the food. The breading on the fish was quite nice. My husband liked his burger. We said we would just order bar food here in the future. Wait staff was a little slow and confused.

Very nice casual dining on the water. The Blt and fries were above average. The waitress was friendly and prompt. I would recommend!

I came her quite a few times a couple years ago and the food was phenomenal!!! However tonight I'm thinking they must have gotten a new chef because the food was bland. We order the conch fritters appetizer which came like rubbery ball hush puppies puppies though I must say that the sauce for them was fairly divine. I asked to try their curry cream sauce and I'm glad I did, so I didn't order it. The sauce all having a good aroma had zip zilch zero flavor. My husband and I both ordered the sea scallops he got his broiled, I had mine grilled, and again there was no flavor.. I started thinking that my taste buds were on strike but it wasn't just me. To add insult to injury, our water had more flavor than our meal and there wasn't even lemon in it. I'm thinking they got a new chef. Three stars for over the top service though. We will probably come back just so we can take the boat out to dinner and hope for a better night.

Coconut shrimp is amazing and the soups are pretty good. The view is amazing outside but, the inside definitely needs some remodeling/updating. Don't get the crab cakes they are mushy and really need better flavor. My crab cake had some crab shell in it as well.

The view is the only good thing about this place. Such a great location it could be a great place. The food was slow to come, over priced and not good. Im sorry to say we will not go back

Great smoked fish dip. Main courses are usually very good. Sitting on the river is a big plus. UPDATE: Since that first review we have been back to Katana's three times. Each time the food was a disappointment. The fish was overdone and/or oversauced or just plain bland. The smoked fish dip, which used to be the best on the river is now soupy and missing some of the flavor it once had. The service and the scenery are still good but there are better places along the river for that. We won't be going back.

stopped in here last night. Mostly to get a beer and see what their early evening crowd was like. Everyone is very friendly. It's a smaller bar inside, and they also have one outside for the smokers. I was also here last weekend for lunch, and although it was a little pricey for me, you couldn't beat the beautiful view of the river. I had scallops last night. They were very good, I highly recommend them! Captain Katannas - I'll be back.....

Our Fish and Chips was pretty good for lunch. The outside patio is nice to sit on by the River and enjoy your lunch. The lunch prices aren't too bad if you don't order any appetizers. The appetizers and Dinner are "WAY" over priced. If your going to try it out, go during lunch to save on money. The wait staff wasn't very good- slow and slow.
