Of course, we continue to return every time we are in the area- at least twice a year. Sadly only one hush puppy these days w my clam platter- but still divine. We bought fresh huge, brown gulf shrimp on 2 separate occasions to take back to grill. Hands down THE best shrimp we have EVER eaten. Bought some black Grouper as well- husband deemed it delicious. Going back for Labor Day- we will be eating here & buying shrimp to take back home.

We didn't come for the market, although it sounded like a great idea -- we came for dinner. This would have been three stars: A-OK, but other issues dragged it down. The food was OK, if you don't mind people smoking at the tables near you... it's covered outdoor dining, so smoking happens. When the reviewer said, "depending on the time of day," that was more significant than I'd thought. We love places that are open on the water, usually. We got there after 6 pm, hoping to enjoy dinner and sunset and hear live music -- and discovered that unlike every other place in that area, the Olde Fish House had a band that stopped playing in mid-afternoon that day. Couldn't check this on the Events Calendar on their website because they stopped updating that calendar last October (that's why two stars instead of three). So yes, the food was OK, good fresh fish. Ambience: picnic tables with benches on a shaded deck. View of the canals around the marina, but not of sunset (sun sets behind the coffee house just across the bridge). Local fishermen like it and eat here, but then again a lot of them smoke, so be aware. Misters operate at the edges of the roof during the day - mixed blessing but fun for the kids. Our server was the only one working the place.

Well this is my first review of the year. I must say its good. This is a market & eatery. You cannot get it any fresher. It comes from the ocean to your table. I had fried mahi mahi. Cooked to a golden brown. With tasty cole slaw, hush puppies and delightful garlic french fries. My server,Brandon, was outstanding. Very knowledgeable and attentive. Not a fancy place you are on the water and out doors. Plates are paper or such. A bit pricey, but all seafood is expensive in Florida. I believe they charge more so the Government can get more tax money. ( There is no income tax in Florida) Everyone I talk with were great. My only issue was leaving the parking lot. A bit of a struggle with only a 2 lane road. Despite this I highly recommend you give them a try.

Well worth the backed up drive through traffic to buy grouper and shrimp caught today!!! The voucher purchase for getting $20 worth for half price was icing on the cake!!! The place was packed, but all staff was friendly and helpful. We are two very satisfied customers who plan to take advantage of this savings again!!

Definitely a dive bar. That being said what I had to eat was really top notch. I had the grilled grouper sandwich. It was cooked perfectly, Juicy and flakey. The roll was nice and soft and the toppings were crisp and fresh. The service was friendly and prompt I will be back when in the area.

This time around I tried somethign different. I got the blackened scallops basket. The scallops were seasoned and seared very well, the hushpuppies are always good, but the fries could use some sprucing up. I used the $20 for $10 deal so that was a nice bonus and as always the service, view and music were great.

Came in the first time in June. It was like 3 pm and the place was empty so I pulled a table right next to the waterfront to order a beer followed by a Shrimp Po Boy sandwich. Service was friendly and the food was good. Great views of the lagoon there sitting at the dining spot. Next time I came to buy some fish from their market inside the place. Got a nice fillet of Red Snapper that I took home to bake in the oven myself. Was not cheap by any means at $22 a pound but the quality and freshness was incredibly awesome. They said their fish and seafood are locally caught plus brought in that day. Not a tremendous selection there but decent enough to find some fish to buy to take home. They even put some ice on top of the product inside the plastic bag for me even though I only live a few miles away.

This place had gotten even better. Whoever took it over is KILLING it now. Love the food, and the scene is excellent! I always use their market when I need fresh seafood to cook up at home.

The food was good but the quantity for the price was embarrassing. 2 small pieces of grouper small order of fries. Tiny order of coleslaw and a hard hush puppy served on a paper plate. $18.00 and I was very happy that I had the $10 for $20 deal it was not worth $18 at all. Too expensive for what u get. . Sorry.

Best soft shell crabs ever!! Only 4/5 stars for very slow service But food was worth it!!!!

Definitely a funky place with decor from grandmothers attic. Try them on Taco Tuesday for a truly great fish taco. I really like fish tacos and have had them at many places during my travels and I rate them right up with the best. I had mine blackened and the fish was super fresh. The slaw with shredded coconut in it was also super tasty. The band playing while we had a late lunch was very good with one band member playing beer bottles and old wash board. Very creative. The wait staff can get challenged when it gets busy, but kick back, relax and remember you are on Island Time! Enjoy!

Whatever brings you to Matlacha, this spot is the place to go. Two dollar beers, loud devout blues bands and bench seating takes all your troubles away. The hush puppies are perfect and I enjoyed one of the best fried groupers around. Eat slow to enjoy live music, the old fish house outdoor misting system and the facinating customers.

We got a selection of items at our table including gator nuggets, coconut shrimp, shrimp pi-boy, tile fish sandwich, shrimp platter and blackened chicken sandwich. Everything that was fried was soggy, like the oil wasn't hot enough, and the shrimp were rubbery. The coconut shrimp were pretty good and the dipping sauce that came with the gator was great. The service here was extremely slow but it was busy so that could play into it. Sitting by the water while the band played was nice however, we will not be back. We went based in good reviews and a $10 for $20 deal on yelp. Even with the discount it wasn't worth it to us.

The food was better than I expected while waiting! The atmosphere isn't ideal for kids after around 6 pm as the band started and it got loud and smokey pretty quickly. Fish tacos, fried oysters and blackened grouper were all really good! Service was a little slow but they were pretty busy.

Finding good fresh seafood is surprisingly difficult in the Fort Myers area. Luckily I found the Olde Fish House Marina! Stopped in again and enjoyed a table on the waterway, with locals catching fish right there! How fresh can you get?? The grilled grouper was great, the clam strips fabulous. But my favorite thing was the absolute BEST hushpuppy I ever ate!!! Went to the Olde Fish House twice this visit to FL!
(5)Devin A.
I can't find a place in southern Florida where the fish is more fresh! Great food, great vibe and awesome people. Check out olde fish house marina and you won't be disappointed.
(5)Andy S.
We had the coconut shrimp, french fries, hush puppies, and beer-battered fried snapper. Everything was really delicious and not greasy. The service was decent. I used a Yelp coupon here which I purchased ($10.00 for $20.00 off) and they had no issues with me using it. That was my first Yelp coupon purchase so I wasn't sure what to expect. No beers on tap--all bottles. This is a very cool area if you ever get the chance to visit. No hesitation at all in coming back to this restaurant.

Great food...mediocre service. We arrived around 7:45 and got right in, but waitress let us know that they closed at 8 and could tell that she was not happy about waiting around for us to get done. Also be prepared if you go after dark that the bugs will be out. Friendly woman at next table loaned us her bug spray. That being said, the food was very good. Had the fried shrimp and hushpuppies...very good!

THERE IS A BOYCOTT OF OLDE FISH HOUSE MARINA Matlacha, FL DOES NOT SUPPORT LOCALS, ESPECIALLY MUSICIANS. Instead of paying local professional talent to perform a decent rate, he would rather pay for travel expenses and overpay for a hack from Toledo who cannot sing in key if you put a gun to his head. It is disrespectful of local community to just hire his buddies from up north and the same for people who support him. Regarding the hack from Toledo, check out demo at his site to see what I mean about hack; reverbnation.com/jefftuc… He doesn't make it better for himself that this Jeff Tucker sleaze spends all of his time picking fights with locals in craigslist mocking them as wannabes and "faggots" and people would rather hire him then musicians from "Flori-Duh" as he likes to call or great state. Customers to Olde Fish House are supporting this problem. There are so many other better places who respect and support locals and leave OFH for gullible snow birds with tin ears

Been here twice and I just don't get it! It's like pulling teeth to get service only to sit at a picnic table outside for food that's not all that good
(1)Rebecca C.
We have tried numerous offerings from the menu and have not been disappointed! My favorite is shrimp and my husband is addicted to the grouper. This is casual, al fresco dining and depending on the time of day you go, live music will entertain you. Another plus is their cole slaw! We have been to 3 additional restaurants in the area and Olde Fish House wins for best seafood hands down!

Unpretentious and xtra kitschy prepare yourself to be charmed. The number one thing this eatery offers is friendly wait staff who act like there really is a link between great service n return customers. We compare this experience to Reds near pine center. Snow crab clusters at reds were 19.99 but no sides and one # size at that price. At fish house same offering is $17.99 with two sides plus loaf of warm bread. Drinks from the full bar at both spots have a clear winner in the fish house. Bartender can mix a good drink- reds not so much... They have been overwhelmed at times. Neither place has an inspired wine list we r talking Kendall Jackson Chardonnay .... We love both places for different reasons. Can't beat the window seats at fish house . It rests w the kitchen and cooking expertise as reds edge out fish house on that ! I had prime rib at fish house ( I know....it's a FISH house)! It was so so. Snow crab clusters tasted better at reds as they were served hot n moist. Fish house served a lukewarm product but larger serving for the money. Fish house used frozen veggies n reds use fresh. Fish serves hot bread ! Three stars for frozen veggies n so so prime rib.... We will continue to visit this utterly charming food hall w it's view on the water n enthusiastic wait staff n fabulous bar mixologist n hope the chef stops w this frozen vegetable nonsense.this review is for sandy hook n got here in error

We really enjoy the seafood market. We had Red Grouper that was filleted as we watched, then iced down and away we went. It was Delicious. We have also eaten there for lunch many times and have always had great food. Love the slaw and the Snapper Ruben. Always fresh seafood. It's always Great to get fresh seafood in a fishing area as some places on Pine Island don't sell local fish. I just can't believe other places are not selling local fish and supporting their community.

2nd place we tried to spend some money at on this shit-hole island today. Walked in and stood there waiting for somebody to greet or maybe seat us. After being ignored by several employee's we asked to be seated loudly. A young bimbo who was not sure where she was said we could that table and sit there pointing to a dirty 4-top. I asked if we went out on the dock if someone would wait on us? Yes sure I will be right out. After 15 minutes of sitting on the deck and no sign of a waitron we got up and left. That was 0 for 2 on this island today. Hope all of these so-called hospitality industry professionals are going to school, as they will never survive working for tips. Stay away from this place.

Update: Please read my original review. In additon, we had the opportunity this winter while traveling in Florida to try other places that are similar to Olde Fish House (fresh seafood, prepared by the water, very casual). We knew this place was good, but after trying others, Old Fish House is the best we've ever had. The others were fine; but, with this place, we are always planning how many times we'll be able return that trip.

Grouper plate was great blackened. live music was a nice surprise.

OMG! Best fish taco I have ever ate... TO die for.. Out of this world, good.. I love the funky seating on the water. I will be going back

Superb seafood! As fresh as it gets with reasonable prices. My family enjoyed the fish cakes (made with grouper), the shrimp po boy (great even though it was served on a hot dog bun) and the blackened grouper platter. Everyone kept saying "mmm" while eating and not much talking going on. The atmosphere was cool too. A few old salty guys were sitting and chatting over some beers, locals were frequenting the store and the other patrons felt comfortable enough to talk table to table and discuss how much they liked their food too. One should note, if you want to be waited on and if you need an upscale dining room - this is not it. This restaurant is down to earth and charming, not pretentious or elegant.

It's your traditional pub grub Florida style menu which can be pricey (think 9-13 for a sandwhich that doesn't come with fries) BUT the food is truly delicious. Had the grouper reuben blackened. YUM and the coleslaw is amazing with a hint of cocont. My husband did the Jerk chicken and I was amazed it was good. Hard to make grilled chicken good sometimes but seasoning were a hit! Portions aren't generous tand youll walk out very satisfied not stuffed! Great live music added much!

Stopped in for a Grouper sandwich for lunch. The fish was quite good. The little cup of slaw was excellent - they add a bit of coconut to it which leaves you wanting more. The staff was friendly and helpful. Only downside - wish the plentiful bun had been steamed or at least microwaved a few seconds to soften it up rather than just out the bag. Didn't eat most of it. Fries or hush puppies (they were out of 'em) are extra, and the prices seem touristy high. I'd go back, though.

Located in Matlacha, Florida on the water. Stopped in on a Thursday mid-afternoon and there was live music. We loved and highly recommend the blackened shrimp po'boy and homemade hush puppies. We also tried the fish cakes and thought they were just so so. Loved the ambiance with waterfront casual dining and live entertainment daily. We also visited their fresh seafood market that had a large selection of fish and gulf shrimp . Staff was very friendly and hospitable, prices were reasonable. Will definitely be back. .

This is another great island spot, I was surprised with the food although typical in its flavor, however the atmosphere was great with a band playing and the views of the pelicans near by it was great. Just remember to slow down, this is island time.

Just had lunch here. Was drawn in by the yelp deal. Awesome food. Our server Brian was really informative and prompt! Will most defiantly be returning!

Great place for fresh seafood. Our server, Audrey was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended the scallops and the combo platter which my friend and I ordered. In addition to delicious seafood, the hushpuppies were also excellent. Matlacha is a very friendly, welcoming place for tourists with lots of charming shops and eateries. Would definitely return to the town and this restaurant specifically.

What a wonderful surprise. We've been going to the Olde Fish House Seafood Market for years but never ate at the restaurant until yesterday. The food was great. We had the Grouper Platter blackened. Doesn't get much better than this. The cole slaw was the best we've ever eaten. Sitting outside on a beautiful day is great too.
(5)Gregg S.
If you are in Matlacha and looking for a great grouper sandwich or fried oysters, this is the place. The fried oysters may be the best I have ever had, fresh, soft, not over fried. Their pink sauce is to die for. The place is as funky as Matlacha. Enjoy the moment.

I had a blackened mullet sandwich and a bowl of fish chowder. The mullet was just OK, but the fish chowder was terrible. It was water with a few pieces of fish. I don't know how they classify it as a chowder on their menu. They charged $6.00 and I guess it was about a cup. I think it was worth, at most a buck or two. I live year round here on the island and visit the local eateries on a frequent basis. Once was more than enough for this place.
