Great Licks sells Queenie's ice cream (one of a handful of area places that do sell it). The staff is friendly, and samples are encouraged. I always, always, ALWAYS get the Dutch Chocolate. To. Die. For. I get a "small," which is very large-after our first visit, when I ordered a medium and found it was tooooo much! I always get it in a cup with a cone on the side. :-) The husband tries out other flavors, but favors the cookies and cream. There is an inside seating area attached to Island Visions (neat place!) and some outside tables with umbrellas...and an old school coin operated ride! We visit the area several times a year and always make the trip out there several times. We even have a frequent buyer card! :-)

I'm a fairly new local resident and I've been looking for fun and tasty places to eat since moving here. Unfortunately, I've found that there are not a lot of great restaurants in the Cape Coral, Matlacha/Pine Island area. I really wanted to like Great Licks Ice Cream Shop. I like the location in Matlacha and the fact that it's attached to the gallery next door, with a pleasant little sitting area in between. However, we have had ice cream there several times (taken our out-of-town guests when they've come for a visit) and everyone's consensus is that the ice cream is weak tasting. I tried the black raspberry chocolate chunk and the raspberry was nearly undetectable. The chocolate pieces were the only really tasty part of the ice cream. All together we've probably tried at least 10 flavors, and we all agree that there's just not enough flavor intensity. I'm disappointed as I love ice cream, and as I said enjoy the location, but it's not worth the cost of this ice cream for the little flavor payoff. Too bad.

Very good ice cream, good service. Mint chocolate chip is excellent. The kid cones are super small but my 3 year-old daughter wanted hers in a cup, still very small (like a small Dixie cup) with a small pink taster spoon that she loved. Just the refreshing treat I wanted after a long day at the beach.

Good selection of flavors, excellent service and some creative sundaes to choose from or ability to customize exactly how you want it.

Here on vacation. This is a great halfway resting point if you're shopping up and down Matlacha. The guy behind the counter was super nice and had great recommendations. They make all of their own flavors! After tasting just about everything, we settled on Key lime/toasted coconut in a bowl. The Key lime is a little weak for my tastes, but the coconut was very coconutty, so it was perfect. We sat in the little outdoor café area and spent a nice little time talking and watching. Right at $10 for four scoops puts it on par with most other ice cream shops. Yummy.

Great ice cream and great service! We got to try samples of all the flavors, and they had plenty to choose from. I had the mango sorbet. I was informed that the mangoes are locally grown and were freshly picked just a day previous to my visit! Best sorbet I've ever had. My family had various flavors of ice cream including the black raspberry, vanilla, coconut, and of course chocolate. They have tons of options and toppings to try. When you're done with your ice cream you can head outside to see their old fashioned quarter horse. The best part of this fun ride is its free! Just flip the switch and your child can ride to their little hearts content! Definitely will be returning!

Super friendly service! Coconut and Key Lime ice-cream made on the island itself. Both were delicious.

We stopped for Great Licks ice cream twice during our week of vacation. The first time, we arrived at 8:00 p.m., not realizing the store was trying to close. I think they would have locked the door if another small group hadn't walked in just before us. They were very nice and let us order even though that meant they were staying late. We ordered the kiddie cones for our kids, and they were astonishingly tiny. It was fine considering it was almost bedtime and our kids are little, but I secretly felt guilty for the mini-treat-tease, and a bit annoyed at the price! The ice cream was good, though, so we made a point of stopping again later in the week. That time we got our kids the regular single scoop cones, as it was earlier in the day. Our favorite flavors were the black raspberry-chocolate chunk and mint chocolate chip. In spite of being very busy, the staff was upbeat and accommodating. They also have an old coin-operated horse outside, except there is no coin required. A local plugged it in for us and showed us how it worked. Very exciting touch for two little guys high on ice cream and vacation!

Sunny, warm, on vacation, near water... all I was missing was ice cream and what ice cream I found! The couple who I was staying with told me about an ice cream shop that's attached to an art place, so I figure this must be the one they recommended. I am a boring ice cream chick, and tend to order the old fashion Vanilla. But I couldn't help but be curious about the Key Lime Pie & Toasted Coconut flavors. GOOD HEAVEN BABY JESUS! They were PERFECT. Both were very tasty without being too abundant with artificial taste. I ended up with a 1-scoop cup that comes with 1 scoop each (1 + 1 = 2, not sure how that's a 1-scoop cup but hey, I like this kind of math!). All for a very reasonable price of $3.75 plus tax. MUST TRY if you're in Matlacha!

YUM! This is an excellent choice when you are craving ice cream. It's extremely creamy and tastes delectable. Fun flavors and inventive new ideas that you will just have to taste test. Another perk is that many of these flavors are nut-free!
