My husband and I were out on a Friday night and didn't know what we wanted for dinner.. I was torn between Italian and Spanish. We pulled into the parking lot near the Italian restaurant and noticed "Gordo's Grill" next door. We stopped to check the menu and decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! I had the Pollo Saltado (forgive me if I spelled it wrong... I don't speak spanish) and cilantro chicken soup. The soup was delicious and could be a meal in it's self. While waiting for our meal the server brought us fried corn, I had never this before but I LOVED it. My dinner came out and I was impressed with the portion, taste, and freshness of it. I really enjoyed the side of sauteed vegetables, they were cooked with chucks of fresh garlic and perfectly seasoned too. My husband had the churassco (spelled wrong I'm sure) and said it was wonderful. Let's just say he cleaned his plate... Not something I am used to seeing him do. We were a bit nervous when we arrived since we aren't Hispanic but the staff made us feel at home. They answered all of our questions and even explained how things were made. I highly recommend Gordo's. This is a must try if you are in the area.

Great place! The service is excellent, the food very tasty, and restaurant is very intimate. I had never tasted Peruvian food before I ate here. And I was pleasantly surprised, I will defiantly be back. The steak is excellent, and also the baby back ribs, the ribs had some sauce on them when they brought them out to me. But they were kind of bland. So I asked for some extra sauce, and they brought me some awesome homemade spicy BBQ sauce which I had never tasted before, very good.

Family of seven decided to try it instead of the Italian next door. What a mistake.after we were received and told sit anywhere as he walked away, the same guy took the order. After 15 minutes the drinks came. After 45 minutes 1 plate came in. We ask him about the rest of the food and replied it is coming. 10 minutes later, finally the food arrived. Stone cold and tasteless, my wife ask for steak and it tasted just like when you defrost and fry. Tasted like liver, a skirt steak? My daughters food stayed in the plates, they try to eat but it was nasty. We asked for the manager and guess who was the bold man that received us and treated us like he didn't care, same guy that did not apologize or care to say anything. We will never go back and be ready if you go, get ready for a bad service and food quality is horrible, even starving as we were.

Amazing taste. Huge portions. Great price. Couldn't ask for much more. I'll be back, Lomo Saltado was excellent.

So I'm excited to be writing my first review. I'm a huge fan of Peruvian food. Gordo's Grill is a simple place. I've come here a few times and the food is great. One of my favorite things to get here is the spicy ceviche. It is always fresh and tasty. The sweet potato is delicious. I've had the Jalea frita as well the lomo saltado and they both are delicious. My favorite thing to get here is the Arroz con mariscos. Sometimes the service is slow but I don't mind. The prices are very reasonable here. They are open until midnight on Friday. I look forward to my next visit.

Love the food here and the service is great! It's a simple, whole in the wall but the food is authentic and the service great! Highly recommend!

My Peruvian friend and her parents brought me here for lunch one day and it was FANTASTIC! For starters we order the papa a la huancaina, ceviche pescado, anticuchos de corazon, and chicharron de calamar, which were all delicious. I haven't had ceviche at a Peruvian restaurant before and LOVED eating it with the sweet potato. My friend's parents said the other ceviche I've had before wasn't real ceviche and I could see why! As someone who hasn't had beef heart before, I thought the anticuchos were good and just tasted like grilled meat to me. For an entree, my friend and I shared the arroz con mariscos. While I enjoyed it, I was a little disappointed because the menu described it as seafood paella so I was expecting crispy rice at the bottom of the pan. The portion was huge though and definitely enough for both of us to share. My friend's dad gave me a bite of his tallarin saltado, which I wish my friend and I would've order because it was very flavorful and I would've happily stuffed myself silly with noodles. For dessert, we ordered the picarones, which my friend described as a Peruvian donut and her dad swiftly disagreed and said they are much better than donuts. I would have to agree with her dad and say they were much more delicious and fluffy. Overall, a great meal that was made even better by my Peruvian company. Would love to come back and try more dishes...or even just eat the same things since they were that delicious!

Decent food but it didnt blow us away. We had shrimp ceviche as an appetizer and got it medium. It was pretty strong even at that level but was overall good ceviche. We had a seafood dish and shrimp soup. The seafood dish with white rice and a cream sauce was just ok. The sauce kind of made everything taste uniform which kind of made it boring. The shrimp soup was good and was served nicely hot. Seemed to have some nice spice in it that gave it a pretty good flavor. Restaurant is a pretty simple place in a strip mall and not that much atmosphere but ok just to get something to eat, not a destination in itself. Service was pretty good but we were just one of three tables and i did have to ask for water a couple times.

I was really excited about trying this place after all the favorable yelp reviews. but i have to say that i am completely underwhelmed. my friend and i ordered a ceviche to share. i ordered the tacu tacu with steak and a side of yucca fries while he ordered the fried rice with fried tilapia. the ceviche was tasty.. nice and tart. the fish was in huge chunks and cutting them was difficult. i don't know if i have had fish that tough before. but the corn and the sweet potato that came with it was delicious. i ordered my steak medium.. but it came out well done. the tacu tacu was mushy and tasteless. the chimchurri that came with the steak was horrible. it tasted like a vinaigrette salad dressing instead. my friend's fried rice was greasy and i am just not a fan of tilapia. the yucca fries were my favorite. they were crispy on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside.

Great food. They even have lunch specials on Saturdays which is a great deal. Fried yucca was surprisingly good since I don't usually like yucca or potatoes. Chicken chaufa, anticucho de corazon, stuffed avocado were all very good. The dulce de leche dessert was to die for. Ceviche was excellent!

This place was open till midnight one Friday and we decided to try it. I got the churrasco and it was AMAZING. soooo yummy. The chicken was also really tasty and so were the rice and beans. We've been coming here now at least a couple times a month. The food is always very good. I would definitely recommend going to gordos and getting a churrasco !

For me, this was just ok. Decor was sparse. Ceviche was just ok, steak was just ok. Veggies were from a frozen bag. Salad dressing was Kraft. Not worth a second visit.

Stopped in for a casual lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was not full, but plenty of tables were occupied. We were seated within a minute of walking in and looking around. Unfortunately, we were led to a table that still had crumbs from the previous guests. After a couple of minutes our waitress came along and proceeded to clean the table for us and handed us menus. We decided to try the pollo saltado with black beans and fries and churrasco a la parilla with black beans and maduros. Instead of bread a bowl of corn kernels was placed in front of us. They were simple, salty and tasty. Once you pop one in your mouth you can't stop, but keep pulling one out after the other and eating them. They were all gone long before our food arrived. Even though I ordered my churrasco medium-well it came out only medium. I was a little worried, because I'm not used to eating my meat still pink, but it turned out ok and was still tasty, but left me confused nonetheless, especially since the waitress did confirm medium-well with me. Then again, maybe their cooking style may be a bit different. My fiance enjoyed the pollo saltado thoroughly. However, it did take a while for the food to come out. All in all it was pretty ok and the menu looks to have plenty of interesting choices to warrant another visit, but I cannot see myself in a hurry to come back to Gordo's.

went for lunch, met the waiter half way in, he started picking his nose as he showed me to my seat. Should have walked out at that point. Lots of food and free soft drink but all of it was stone cold, even the chicken soap was lukewarm.

Very good anticucho de pechuga de pollo. Great service.

Best Peruvian restaurant I've been to in a while! The food was delicious! Especially the shrimp and fish ceviche! Im very impressed and I'm definitely coming back as well as recommending to friends!

We tried 4 or 5 items on the menu and all were fresh, well prepared and very well presented. Ceviche was outstanding, as was skirt steak. Ambiance is a bit cool but who needs ambiance when staring at outstanding food anyway? Try it!

Yelp members steer me right again....Thanks! Finally a fantastic local Peruvian restaurant. I was immediately greeted by Jose who is actually the owner. He was extremely welcoming without being overbearing. Now for the food, I ordered the seafood chaufa. It was loaded with scallops, shrimp, calamari and mussels not to mention the generous portion of delicious stir-fried rice. It was served with a special homemade hot sauce that added amazing favors to an already great dish. The portions were so large I didn't have room for dessert which I was looking forward to from the reviews I had read. Since I will be back often, I am certain to try them in the future. Bottom line: Great service, Great food & Great price
