Best, most authentic Mexican food in the Keys. Friendly service. Warm, casual atmosphere.

After reading the other review, we decided to give this place a shot. Yuck! There were only three tables occupied when we got there, and one of the tables had eight young guys. There were three waitstaff, so there shouldn't have been any problems. We had to ask for our drinks twice. When the food arrived, I had to ask for utensils TWICE. My fish tacos were soggy and had little taste. My husband had the crab enchiladas. He said they were ok. The only saving grace was the hot chips. It would be nice to have salsa instead of just tasteless chopped tomatoes. I won't be going back.

Yum, yum, yum! I loved the food here, and the service was great. I had a comboplate, and everything was awesome. I'll definately hit this spot up the next time I am in Marathon.

Stopped by Lenchos for dinner one night on my way back up to Palm Beach. What lousey Mexican Food!! I am probably the worst critic since I am Mexican and I am from California. The guacamole dip was cold (right out of the refrigerator to the table) and blended with no taste. The chips were god (hard to screw that up), and the salsa was ehhh..okay. I ordered Chili Rellenos and they were not that great. In fact ,they had RAISINS in them! Yes , raisins!! Why??? I have never heard of that. When I went to go and pay, she asked how was everything and I said, "ehh okay". She said okay your total is $xx.xx !!! I would not recommend this place to anyone!

So we were on our way to Key West and STARVING!! But I didn't want to stop right after we left Ft. Lauderdale OR when we got to close to our destination...so that left the Keys in between... So right around Marathon Key I begin browsing the sights along the highway...not much to peruse in the Upper Keys, let me tell you. Actually, not a whole helluva lot to stare at in the Middle Keys either! lol We passed about three seafood oriented places that looked pretty darn good but by the time I spoke up, my boyfriend had past the place and being that he was a grumpy head with no food in his tummy...he wasn't turning around. Low and behold: LENCHA'S!!! It's off to the right if your' headed to Key West...little Mexi place run by a family. Lot's of Oaxacan photos adorn the place, very traditional hole-in-the-wall establishment. We overheard a man commenting on how awesome the civiche tostadas are and I suppose we should have gone with that...instead, my man got the shrimp quesadilla and I the chicken nachos. His was FABULOUS!! Mine...well, not so much. Looked more like a little tostada salad...tortilla bowl filled with a few chips and toppings. Not all that fabulous...and not all that much food. The chips and salsa....eh...so-so. All is all...i'd eat there again and maybe go civiche or back the quesadilla. Lunch for two with 4 beers: $37

Homemade and fresh tortilla chips and salsa. Living in the Southwest, I have eaten a lot of varieties of salsa. Lencho's salsa is great! Steak and Carne Asada tacos were very good, as were the beef nachos. There are not a lot of Mexican food options in the Keys but Lencho's is great! I would highly recommend this place for a divey Mexican food restaurant.

This place is fantastic! Ordered combo #2 and #1. Everything is fresh and homemade hit the spot. Great place to come if you need a Mexican fix, especially if you are from Texas! BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN THE KEYS!

Came for lunch! Was very good. Fresh salsa. And if your into super hot sauce, ask for their homemade hot sauce.

One star is generous. I won't waste my time or yours by elaborating. The food and service was AWFUL at best. We found out after we ate that the bathrooms were out of soap and paper towels. Don't eat here, it's atrocious.

Lencho's is decorated like a carnival street in Mexican stereotypical paraphernalia, but that's really half the fun. The restaurant featured inexpensive, generous portions and a full menu of Mexican, Cuban, and fusion food was available. Daily catch fish was a nice substitution option on many of the Mexican dishes, and the corn tortillas were handmade. The Mahi-mahi (dolphin fish) was tasty but the blackening rub was a little too salty. The best part was the refreshing mild salsa and freshly fried up chips served as an appetizer. Plus the server was a sweetheart and kept the water and horchata coming. All around it was the best choice we found in Marathon.

I'd have to say they serve the best Mexican food I have eaten so far in the Keys. I grabbed their "All you can eat Tacos" one day while I was there. Great service, Great Food, and a Great Price. Sweet Tea, AYCE Tacos = $8.18 for my total meal. The service was outstanding so I left a tip that doubled the price of my meal. I WILL BE BACK! Thanks for the service and quality of food.

This place has the look and feel of a dive mexican restaurant. That's good because it is exactly that. The free salsa was bland, but the fresh tortilla chips were good. I ordered a combo and all three items (carne asada taco, chicken tostada, chicken enchilada) were pretty good. The rice that came with it was very tasty. I was disappointed that the beans were just pinto beans in sauce instead of my preferred refried beans with cheese on top. The food is real mexican food and probably would be three stars. It's not the best, but around here the price seemed very reasonable, so I had to go for four stars. $30 plus tip for two adults and one child to eat. My two year old enjoyed the chips and rice and ate a little taco meat. The meat was pretty bland on her taco. I wonder if they serve plain meat to kids....

Really enjoyed this place! The service is impeccable, friendly, and helpful. The menu is your standard Mexican flair with a nod to some Cuban dishes, as well. The prices are reasonable and the portions are HUGE! We ordered the three enchilada dish and it was more than enough food for us to share. I honestly don't know how one person eats that much food. We finished up with the recommended xhonga dessert that I like to call deep fried banana pudding. It was delicious! We will definitely go back and enjoy the food again. Nice break from all the seafood we've been eating while in the Keys...not that that's a bad thing! = )

I am disappointed to say the least with the Island's selection of Chinese food. So far I have had nothing but mediocre and bad Chinese food other than 1 place in the keys. I wanted Chinese Buffet today, and since I had seen this place a few times with a big "Chinese Buffet" banner hanging proudly above the restaurant I decided to check it out. "What?" you might be saying right about now, "This is a Mexican restaurant review." That's my point. I walked in and walked back out of the chinese buffet place noticing the substantial lack of what I am used to at ALL of the Chinese Buffets I have been to. This place maybe had 8 to 10 items to choose from including rice and soup and everything. Not something I wanted to pay for really. So it was off to find something else, and after driving a bit I noticed Lencho's here on my right and decided to check it out. $16 for 3 tacos, a buttload of chips, a bowl of Pico, another bowl or beans, another bowl of some warm hot sauce, plenty of sour cream and guac, a cheese quesidilla and some rice. I has plenty of food, enough to feed my baby when she got back from working. Good Mexican food. Maybe I'm biased because I like Mexican food more than I realize, I dunno. All I know is the girl kept my food up, chips filled, I got a ton of food, my water was always full and she was friendly enough and the price was cheap for what I got. It's quaint, good, filling and does the job. 4 stars.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
