You have to work to get a five star rating from me and the folks at the Barracuda Grill did just that. Was it the best food I have ever had to eat... No but what they lacked in meeting my odd tastes they made up for by being attentive and making efforts to make me happy. The chef came out to check, the head waitress stopped at the table as well as the greeter. As a matter of fact everyone working the floor made an effort to see how we where doing. What about the food yeah, yeah, yeah. Food I guess that is why I went in. Best mashed potatoes I have had outside of my kitchen! And I did not even order the dish with the mashed. I had there meatball dish which was very well prepared and a salad that they made an effort to make sure it had what I liked in a salad! Carrots! By the way all the salad dressings are made there! I will recommend a must try if your in Marathon, Fl or just passing thru and also are not on a budget! Everyone eating there seemed to enjoy there meals which is a good sign. The place has an air of being posh but there is no dress code that I could see. Which always makes me happy when I go out to eat. One other very nice touch. I asked when do they close...and was told when people stop coming in. Thank you! More places need to have there attitude when it comes to feeding there customers. Only suggestion or request is serve real lemonade or get a few gallons from Wendys and don't tell anyone.

Ah what a pleasure, nice slightly upscale beach restaurant. Nearly everything on the menu sounded wonderful. Had the Shumai dumplings, which were GREAT! Sort of like an Asian fusion of Dim Sum and the rack of lamb which was awesome. The waitress was a little high strung (but nice) if she slowed down a little bit would have been appreciated.
(5)Jay B.
Tuna tataki was a little burnt on the bottom--had to cut some off to avoid the charred flavor. The peppercorn salad dressing was very good-- had a little kick to it. Ordered the short rib entree and a duck entree with an apricot glaze. Both were good but not amazingly memorable good. It was a solid average above-average as one past Yelp reviewer put it. However for the price the food should have better.
(3)Tartufo F.
This place is really really expensive for both food and drink. Yes-overpriced. For example, a bottle of wine that can be purchased at the grocery store for $10 is priced at $43 at this restaurant. Don't get the peppercorn salad dressing. It's way peppery and undesirable.

Fine dining in Marathon! Try this gem if you are looking for a more sophisticated meal. Menu is updated daily. They make their own hot sauce which is on a lot of the dishes and really tasty. The owner/chef came out to see how our food was which was really cool. We got the calamari app, side salads (ranch dress was 5 stars!!) and the great grouper and megs meatballs as entrees. Basically everything was great. They have beer and wine so dont expect to be drinking any cocktails here. We would go back. Only giving 4 stars bc of price being just a little high.
(4)Marsha B.
The tipsy cherries were probably the best thing I had. The entrees were over priced for the quality of food. Things were lacking a little seasoning. Our waitress on August 14, 2015 was Ashley, I believe. I don't think she enjoyed her job. She was attentive but was definitely lacking in personality. When you spend as much on a meal as our party of six did, you expect some friendly service.
(3)Amber L.
Cute restaurant. Spicy calamari and shrimp is to die for. Grouper was mediocre after such an amazing appetizer. Key lime pie was delectable.
(4)Jim B.
Hope you don't need a table on your schedule. I was told to "wait in the parking lot OR run an errand while they clear a table for me". WTF? Are you kidding me? I even called ahead and was told twenty minutes. I'm actually changing my previous review. Things in the south are a bit more leisurely paced compared to most other places. I'm learning that that sentiment is magnified here in the keys. After having the opportunity to eat at several "top rated" establishments in the keys, I'm actually finding out that my previous rating for this restaurant was way out off base. I'm now realizing that the Barracuda Grill is the best restaurant I've been to in the Keys. Although I shouldn't be asked to wait in the parking lot for a table, I've found that that is a very minor thing compared to what I've experience here in the Keys. I plan on stopping in to see Lance and enjoying his triple tail dish again before I leave.

Fantastic place. Small, upscale (for the middle Keys) Family run restaurant. The food is amazing. Much of the food has a nice bit of heat to it, but not a lot. The only down side is that the portions are huge. My wife and I split an appetizer and an entree and still did not finish it. I would suggest doing the same. My Daughter got an entree and barely made a dent. It seems such a waste to throw away such great tasting food. I wish they offered half portions. Love the artwork!!!! Update: we went back for a second meal. It was as delectable as the previous night. We split the shrimp dumpling appetizer dish which rocked. I had the short rib entree which was also fantastic. I left some behind so we could have Key Lime pie for desert. My wife and daughter split the red tai curried shrimp with noodles entree. It also was awesome. 2 for 2 is very hard to get right in my book, but they accomplished that very nicely.
(5)Brandi S.
Food was excellent! The portions are really large so go hungry for sure! A little pricey but it was worth it...
(5)Julissa C.
My family and i arrived at 6:25 on the dot and were the first table for the night. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and sat down by the window. The menu was skimp and the dishes were pricey but not out of the ordinary for decent restaurants in the keys. We ordered clam chowder for appetizer which came in such a big portion that we each had 1.5 bowls. Our salads were also delicious and the endless bread was warm. When the main courses arrived, we were delighted. Everything was delicious and the portions were huge. Even though my sister and I ordered the New Orleans seafood spaghetti to share we still had a whole portion left to be taken home. My mom's shrimp scampi was also very tasty -- the shrimps were expertly sauteed. My stepdad's hog fish was the perfect size and he highly recommends it. Overall,we highly recommend this place the next you go through Marathon. Just arrived early it does fill up fast!
(5)Michelle C.
My husband wants me to mention how attractive all the servers were. The hostess, a lotta much. And as beautiful people are usually not that nice, they must be paying them well. Cause' this was friendly, quick, bubbly service. But all that is just a bonus. Because you came here for the food. (There is no ocean view, sad to say, so just check out your waitresses ass again.) My husband won, but it was a close call. (Whoever orders the better dish wins.) He got the short ribs and I got the rack of lamb. I would recommend both. Even the bread was warm and crusty and the blue cheese dressing on the salad incredibly chunky. Such a fantastic find.
(5)Trisha J.
We were there the week after Christmas. The food was superb and the waitstaff very attentive. Meant to review sooner but time got away and I didn't remember until we were planning our next trip this year. This was recommended to us by a local, and we can't wait to go back. My husband had the spiciest dish, and absolutely loved it. Definitely leaving room in our luggage for some of your sauce this year!
(5)Vidoly ..
Went during fantasy fest, on way to key West. Best meal and service of any other place, I visited. Great looking interior decoration of barracudas
(3)adam s.
Average-above average quality food. Nice decor, friendly staff. My sweetheart had the baby steak filet. I had a taste and it was pretty good. I had spicy seafood pasta and was not very impressed. The sauce just had heat, no other flavoring to speak of. I think I just made a poor choice ordering, Had I ordered steak or fish I'd probably be giving 4-5 stars. Definitely would give it another go and a great Yelp deal $20 for $40 made it worth it.
(3)Thomas B.
Service was fast & efficient. This place is very nice for Marathon Fl. Definitely a step up from the local flare in town. I had the tenderloin which was prepared perfectly. There is a lot of different seafood options. My wife had the scallops, mother in law had the shrimp & lobster scampi. They both were very pleased. We will be back next time we are staying in Marathon.
(4)Allison G.
I have to say that this was the best meal that we've had by a long shot on our trip to Hawk's Cay! We had the seafood scampi, Caesar salad with chicken (one of the best that I've ever had, and I've had a lot of Caesar salads in my life!) and my children had the spaghetti and meatballs and BBQ chicken from the kids' menu, and we finished with the brownie with vanilla ice cream. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was fantastic. Don't miss this place if you're in the Marathon area!
(5)Paul M.
Not worth the $$$$ spent for dinner. The food was good, but not the $60 spent per person good. If you go here at the early seating, they'll push you out to turn the table. We had 3 people within 60 seconds ask to pack our food up before we even were finished eating. If you want a fresh seafood dinner in Marathon, go to Brutus Seafood Market to save a lot of money and get better food.
(3)David B.
Disorganized confused staff that are downright rude. Food is mediocre, not worth waiting for the idiots at the door to figure out the simple list of who is seated next. Save your money and spend it elsewhere.
(1)Warren F.
These people are the best. An extremely local staff who cares about customer service. The food was amazing. The ranch dressing alone would have been enough to warrant a trip half way across the country. I don't normally eat steak in the Florida Keys, but when I do I eat at Barracuda!
(5)Donna G.
We stopped here based upon Yelp reviews. The reviews were spot on! After a brief wait (we had no reservation on a Friday night), we dined outside on the patio. Everything about the evening was delightful. The hostess was helpful, our server Sarah was great - cheerful, efficient and enthusiastic. (A diner at the next table was overheard to ask her "Are you *always* this happy?") Our meal was delicious: hogfish, short ribs, scallops with pesto pasta and pasta marinara (at our vegetarian's request, with grilled portobello substituted for the meatballs). A nice credo salad cane with the meal. Go for the house dressing - a garlic peppercorn bomb of zesty deliciousness. Save some bread to mop up the extra dressing. Add a generous pour on the wine, and you have or beat meal in the Keys! The generous 20% Yelp discount made this a real bargain, to boot.
(5)Seneca G.
This place was pretty good. Large amount of food and kind of expensive but worth it. We ate a lot of seafood and the key lime pie was great! Please note if you are going during the December holiday season, the service can be slow. Our waitress was reallly nice.
(4)Vicki B.
I was highly impressed. I have driven by multiple times and finally had the opportunity to try Barracuda Grill. I had the new england clam chowder and the short rib dinner. Everything from the food to wine to the wait staff was great. I cant wait to go back.
(5)Dave T.
I am lucky enough to make a yearly pilgrimage to the Florida Keys. I am more excited to eat at the Barracuda than be on vacation. You would not believe it from the road but this is the best restaurant in the Florida Keys. Nothing you order here will let you down. It will be cooked perfect every time, you will taste the love. Rack of lamb is the best I've ever had, blue cheese salad is extremely smooth and delicious and my wife swears by the spicy calamari.( you don't have to order it hot). Pair a perfect meal with amazing service and it can't be beat!
(5)Justin F.
Fantastic menu. My table had the grouper, shrimp scampi, scallops, and I had the filet. All were delicious. I had a sample of each and I gotta recommend the grouper. It was delightful. Great atmosphere, delicious drinks, and 20% off a restaurant like this is too much to pass up. Eat here, you will love it.
(5)Elise K.
Two thumbs up for this place! Awesome menu, beverages included. Andi, our server was extremely knowledgable and friendly. Love the atmosphere here and would highly recommend it!
(5)A S.
This is more of a 'fine dining' kind of place than the usual Keys eating house but not so posh you have to dress up! The food was really good; very tasty and cooked well. They have limited choices on the menu but that's not a bad thing. It is quite pricey though. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Would recommend this place if you fancy something different to the seafood and casual dining you find in excess.
(4)Blaine B.
Both the food and the atmosphere were sensational. The staff was cute friendly and inviting. We had everything from braised short ribs to scallops pasta to portobello and escargot in a Madeira wine sauce. All sensational. Don't miss this gem on the way through Marathon. It's a quick trip down the road from Duck Key as well.
(5)Ramon R.
Great food. Huge portions. Thai Shrimp appt tasty, to share among 2-3. Dishes overall very good. Extensive dessert menu. No bar. Only beer/wine.
(4)Frank D.
My family went to this wonderful grill after a long day. We arrived early in the evening, because the previous day we haed seen the parking lot completely full and more than 20 people waiting in the front. After arrival, we were immediately seated and ordered our food. Prepare to pay over $50 per person. However, the food was spectacular and the dessert portions were massive. A couple awesome things about the diner were the extraordinary decor and service. However, the server asked us twice if we wanted to order alcoholic drinks, even though we had two teens with us.
(4)Gus R.
Been here 3 nights in a row and each meal is an even better experience than the last one. Best food and best service anywhere in the keys! Rachel is a fantastic waitress and the owner/chef is a magician in the kitchen. If you've been here you know what I mean. If you haven't...
(5)Robert S.
A really great experience food was excellent service friendly and efficient fresh fish great steaks
(5)Blair D.
Thanks Yelp. 8 of us went Thursday and everyone's meal was great. The calamari and shrimp appetizer had the best sopping sauce I've had in many years. The rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and delicious. Hats off to their chef who cooked everything to perfection.
(5)Brian N.
By far the best meal we had while visiting the Keys! It started with the salad. The peppercorn garlic was to-die-for! I even had to ask our excellent server, Sarah, if the restaurant bottled and sold it. I would have bought a gallon. The main course, beef spare ribs, was equally delicious. No knife needed. They were also accommodating to my wife, who is a vegetarian by altering one of the pasta dishes to include portobello mushrooms instead of meatballs. Sarah was an excellent server, making sure our glasses were full and our meal satisfying. Do not miss this gem!
(5)Teresa F.
Great atmosphere, excellent food, and friendly staff! Love this place! The Clam Chowder is the best! Homemade blue cheese dressing is excellent!
(5)Ashley R.
Rachel is so great!! The food was so delicious we practically had to be rolled out. Definitely get the spicy shrimp and calamari!!!
(5)Cheyenne G.
Well, we got the deal on here for $25 for $50 worth of food and upon arriving at the restaurant based upon the appearance of the outside we were skeptical; however, once we got into the restaurant all of our doubts were quickly washed away. We got there close to opening so there was only one other table, but throughout the time we were there it quickly started to fill up. When we were looking at the menu, since there wasn't many people in the restaurant, the chef/owner actually came up to us and sparked up a conversation. Very nice guy! The wait staff was also very friendly and we were constantly checked on. I ordered the baby steak and it was fantastic! It was so tender and juicy it just melted in my mouth. It was a little bit on the pricey side, but you got your money's worth and having the deal helped a lot too! We are definitely going back whenever we visit the Keys again, and I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for high class food, with a laid back environment.
(5)Alistair D.
Upon arrival, we were skeptical because of how It looked on the outside..but once you entered, it was awesome! Not expecting to find a high class place like this here! Very friendly staff, great atmosphere..and most importantly, the food was impressive!! I had the roasted duck which was the best I have had, and my girlfriend had some of the best steak she has ever had. Highly recommend you try this place! We will be back.
(5)Patty B.
This is definitely the BEST food in Marathon, FL. We have had dinner here about 10 times in 3 weeks. I would highly recommend anything on the menu; the grouper, the rib eye, the tomato soup, the clam chowder, the escargots with portabello mushrooms, the voodoo stew come immediately to memory. We love this place! The food is flavorful, the portions large, we share an entree and still have take out. The service is excellent and the outdoor dining is exquisite. The decor is very nice with something to look at everywhere in the restaurant. Don't miss this restaurant, one of the best places we have ever eaten. We're from San Francisco Bay and have eaten in some very nice restaurants, Barracuda Grill is right up there in our top five.
(5)Kim G.
Barrucuda Grill is my favorite place for dinner!!! One of the top restaurants in the keys. I live in Marathon and when guests come to visit I make sure it's on the agenda. Their Barracuda Sauce is so good you can purchase a bottle to take home!!!! I hesitated to write this review because I didn't want our towns secret out;)!
(5)Barbara S.
Randomly picked this restaurant from the side of the road after checking some yelp reviews-- just hoping for a good experience. The restaurant is a husband and wife team sharing their love of food with us. The menu changes daily and everything from soup to desert is prepared from scratch on site. I ordered the tomato soup, boring I know, however it was unbelievably excellent with a rich depth of flavor. It was more than the hot comfort soup I was looking for after the long day of driving. My son ordered hogfish and my nephew ordered Ahi. The dishes had very different preps; the hogfish prep was Southern and the Ahi, Asian with matching sides to the preps. The decore was totally fun, with barracuda paintings and barracuda's made out of wood, glass as well as what looks like a family photo with a child holding a barracuda. Everyone was welcoming and attentive. Katie, our server, was the bow tie to our fabulous experience.
(5)Vivian S.
Food was excellent; nice size portions. House sauvignion blanc was very good. Lobster bisque was the best we ve had. We will definitely be returning. Service was good. A little slow at the start, but very attentive afterwards.
(5)Susan R.
I almost never give 5 stars. That being said, Baracuda Grill is one of the best restaurants we ate at in Marathon. Service was very friendly. Rachel, our server was extremely knowledgeable. The hogfish was one of the best fish we have had and it's preparation and presentation very good. It is more pricey and fancy than many other restaurants, but not overpriced at all. White tablecloths, white cloth napkins, good wine selection will raise the cost a bit. I am a fan of Barracuda Grill!
(4)Gassan K.
Have visited this restaurant with my family for the first time today on Jan 2, 2015. Came in around 6:15 pm. The restaurant was filling up pretty quick since they do not accept reservations. We got a table very quick, but waited for service to begin for about 30-40 min. The food was good, but to our surprise at the end we have waited about 1 hour to get the bill paid. Be aware the 20% tip has been included in total bill. I am disappointed with the service. I do not thin that I will go there again.
(2)J. D.
Overpriced for mediocre service& subpar food...after reading some of the reviews, we really expected better...the saving grace for us was the warm bread rolls (which we had to ask for)...and the pork appetizers in plum sauce... I had a bbq grilled chicken& mashed..was ok but my hubby had the mahi mahi and it was not the freshest...overall a disappointing meal...
(3)Anna S.
A group of us were in Marathon, Florida in September 2012 for a diving trip. It was the last evening before the trip was to end. We had been cooking our own dinners and I wanted a night out for dinner. I happened upon a yelp coupon for this restaurant.....and it was SO worth it. There were four of us and we all ordered something different. Being it was so long ago, I only recall that we had grouper, lobster bisque, and cherries soaked in Crown. Everything was superb and we all agreed, it was SO worth it. Keep in mind, this is not an inexpensive restaurant but the portions are representative of the price (good-sized). I know my boyfriend and I would definitely go back if/when we are in the Keys again.
(4)Jeff J.
Tried the hogfish, very light and tasty.
(4)Pete S.
I recommend, tasty and if you like large portions this is the place. I had the shrimp scampi, my wife had seared rare tuna. Both were excellent. Our server, the red headed beauty was fun and very professional. I understand why they've been in business for 20 years!
(4)Jenna W.
Best restaurant in Marathon! I have been to about every restaurant in the town and this is my favorite!!!! It's so much cleaner than all the others too.
(5)Dave M.
Barracuda Grill was very good. We sat on the patio in front and enjoyed the warm breezes. The seared tuna was tender and tasty, and the wasabi cleaned out the nasal passages. The seaweed salad was especially flavorful and enjoyable. My companion liked the red snapper and veggies. The key lime pie was very good, significantly better than the Cuban family seafood place down the street. Service was fast-paced and perky.
(5)G C.
We got the yelp deal and the food was great!! Got a seared scallop with garlic pesto pasta. The portion was very generous and there were a good amount of scallops. It was delicious!!! Even though we got charged $2.99 and didn't know why, but waitress were nice so we didn't question them. Would definitely come back if the deal is still on.
(4)Paula Y.
This is our favorite restaurant in Marathon. We have made it part of our annual tradition to eat here at least once during our stay in the keys. Amazing food! The chef/owner is always so nice and welcoming. The menu isn't very large, but you are guaranteed to find something for everyone in your group to love! They're really great with catering to individual needs as well. A family member has a very serious seafood allergy, and they always take extra care to give multiple safe options for them to order from. You must give this restaurant a try! The clam chowder, tuna, potstickers and shrimp scampi are always a hit! Keep up the good work, Barracuda Grill. We love you.
(5)R.B. D.
Let's start with the cons first, it was expensive. At least I think so as we spent about $120 for three entrees two apps and a beer. The pork dumpling appetizer was exquisite and the star of the meal. The rest was good fare, but nothing worth making the 30 minute drive from Duck Key. Service was good, if not a bit absent minded. The Mahi which was the fresh fish of the day was bland and unremarkable. Were it not for those damned good dumplings, the rating would be lower.
(3)Lori A.
If you like your seafood with a kick, you MUST TRY the Voodoo Stew (if you catch on the frequently rotating menu). The more you eat, the better it gets. I guess that's the voodoo -- that and the fact that you can eat a meal's worth of any entree at Barracuda Grill and still have enough food left for the next day. Plan ahead since they're open only Wed - Sat starting at 6:25 pm.
(4)Danielle S.
My husband and I had an amazing meal here. He had the the grouper, and I had the shrimp scampi. The seafood was fresh, pasta cooker perfectly, and the sauce very delicious. We had the pork potstickers appetizer and bananas foster dessert. Everything was fresh and delicious. The staff and chef were very friendly and made our dining experience even better. We will definitely come back when we are in town.
(5)Jay T.
Great food and service, though a little expensive. I guess everything is in Marathon though. The best place we ate out of 4 restaurants in the keys.
(5)Laura B.
We had dinner here three nights in a row! Have never done that before. We happened upon Barracuda Grill quite by accident. After driving by many cheesy, touristy-looking places, we saw it, shining like a beacon in the night. We wanted something special as we were celebrating my birthday and we were not disappointed! The first night we shared the escargot and portabello appetizer. Served with delicious, crunchy on the outside---soft on the inside, golden rolls with chilled pearls of sweet butter, this dish was a show-stopper. The escargot were plentiful and cooked to a turn, as were the portabellos. The Marsala-Garlic-Cream sauce was incredible and unlike anything we had ever tasted. The sauce is a perfect pairing with the rolls, which by the way, are made fresh all evening long. We both ordered the "BIG Juicy RibEye Steak (22 pure ounces, no bone!)" for our entrees. It comes with a salad, which was tossed just before serving. No traces of plastic wrap here. I chose the bleu cheese dressing and my husband chose the garlic peppercorn. Both were amazing. Worth every calorie. We ordered a lovely Decero Malbec to complement our steaks, but it was also great with the salads and appetizer. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, the pièce de résistance appeared. We both gasped when the enormous, perfectly cooked steaks were placed before us. Each plate was also graced with a lovely mountain of perfect mashed potatoes and a bright, crunchy medley of fresh vegetables. Bottom line? Barracuda Grill is awesome. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but neither is it over-priced. The quality is top-notch and the portions are enormous. This is a not chef who hides behind fat and salt. His sauces are light and fresh. You can taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite. We were unable to finish our entrees, but were awfully happy to have them for lunch the next day. Even reheated, everything was delicious. As for the dessert menu, we can only imagine how wonderful it is. Alas, we were too full to take another bite. But seriously, Bananas Foster? What's not to love? Next time, we plan to start with dessert. I'm not kidding. On another note, the decor of this restaurant is clean and lovely. It has local flair, without the cheese. The art is gorgeous, the white curtains are magical and the cracked glass candle holders on each table are charming. I would buy them for my own table. Even the dinnerware and stemware are beautiful---elegant and simple. The service was excellent in every way. We asked to pay our compliments to the chef and Chef Lance appeared from the kitchen. He was gracious, gregarious and made us feel very welcome. We had a wonderful experience at Barracuda Grill and knew we would be back soon... Stay tuned for our second dining experience at Barracuda Grill, the very next night.
(5)David C.
I failed to see what the big deal is here. Everything is above average but nothing struck any of the four of us as great. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but while we had nothing to complain about, I don't see a return trip in our future. Clearly a bit more upscale than the relative competition and pretty darn pricey as well. Appetizers were great, but the entrees were pedestrian. We had four different entrees from across the menu so it was a wide sample. I was not impressed.
(3)Matt B.
Best Meal in the Keys! Handsdown. Finally... A keys Restaurant that can Continually Satisfy with a Fine Meal. I'm an incredibly picky eater that dines at fine restaurants on a regular basis, and this is the only place in the keys where you can expect a great meal to mean something more than just "fresh grilled seafood (not that there's anything wrong with that)". For an OCD eater, I can literally eat almost the entire menu. It's incredible. NOTE: Ambience: not on the water (this is not the place to go if you're trying to soak in a sunset, be on the water). Place is dimly lit inside, nice waitresses. It's clean, basic inside with white table cloths. Nicer than most places. This is my new spot.
(5)Bill J.
Excellent from start to finish. Tuna was excellent as were the olives soaked in vodka. Ashley was an outstanding server.
(5)Lee H.
This is an excellent restaurant. The garlic peppercorn dressing is great. I had black grouper it was a huge piece of grouper and was excellent. Other members of our group had fried shrimp, and short ribs. Everyone was pleased with what they had. Don't miss this place.
(5)Wei Z.
Best Seafood ever.
(5)John C.
Traveling to Key West from Chicago.....First off let me say that we were greeted with open arms when we showed up a half an hour prior to The Barracuda Grille's scheduled time of opening. We sat down, had a few drinks and got to speak with some of the staff who kindly gave us great recommendation as to where to stop, eat, drink and go fishing while in Key West. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that not only were we just speaking to staff members, but the owners (Lance & Jan) themselves. They were very kind people and gave us the history of their restaurant, made recommendations off the menu, and were genuinely interested in our travel plans. We started off with the spicy calamari, seared tuna, and Asian potstickers (all great, but the spicy calamari was definitely my favorite). Then came on the Scallops, and Crab Cakes, pretty amazing stuff!!! The Barracuda Grille is certainly a hidden treasure and a staple of the the Keys! P.S We'll be back next year!! John and Taylor
(5)Tai Z.
The food was good, but WOW is it expensive! We ordered a squid appetizer and it was totally not worth the price... I think it was $25 or $30? I was just looking at my credit card statement and was reminded to review this place. $190 for three people. Ouch.
(3)John D.
Best meal we had in Marathon
(4)Bennett G.
Not at all what we were expecting. We did have high hopes for great food, service and ambiance...turned out to be average for all three. Definitely not worth the price, I would not recommend or return. :(
(3)Chris C.
All of our food was very good, but it was a bit pricey. We were dressed in the typical Keys/vacation attire and felt out of place. I'm in the Keys pretty often, and I would definitely try Barracuda Grill again.
(3)Ashley R.
First let me say, I am not the owner nor a friend of the owner. Just a foodie traveling from New Orleans with the amazing recommendation of Barracuda! Simple Look with exceptional food. Shrimp dumplings, hot and spicy shrimp and calamari, homemade peppercorn dressing, crispy duck, mashes potatoes, baby scallops and spinach, seared ahi, and grouper were all delicious! It was hard to stop eating, not to mention how large the portions are. Service was great and so helpful with my 2 yr old son! A must stop in the keys!

Very good seafood, with plentiful, nicely seasoned portions. Spicy shrimp/calamari is tasty, but is overly saucy (actually submerged). Staff is friendly, and decor is contemporary. Would definitely go back again!

The Barracuda Grill came highly recommended by the owner of our hotel. He considers himself a "foodie" and said it was upscale and that we would love it. I beg to differ. We did not have a great experience there although i will say, the restaurant is nicely decorated. The menu is very limited and had such things as Spaghetti and Meatballs and BBQ Pulled Pork and only a couple of seafood offerings which really was a surprise. I was served coffee that was just at room temperature, my entree was served with lukewarm mashed potatoes and lukewarm sauteed vegetables that were seasoned very strangely. My friend just got a couple of appetizers because there wasn't much that appealed to him so he got the baked brie (which definitely wasn't baked as it had just been microwaved and the cheese wasn't oozing out the way it should have been if baked) and he got some Asian inspired dish of dumplings in a very sticky sweet sauce that made it just too sweet to eat after the first couple. The waitress never came back after serving our food and at that point, we ate what we could and asked for the check. Didn't even want to think about dessert or anymore coffee. Very disappointing especially when our bill came to close to $100 considering we had just one beer. I do think its funny to read the reviews to hear things like "this place is so underrated, its shocking".... I can only assume the owner or a friend of the owner wrote the review as we just didn't have one thing go wrong with the food, it was right down the line from one thing to another to another from the food to the service.

this was the best meal during my entire vacation to the keys. seriously. i know you don't want to believe me because i am the first to review it, but i speak truth!!! the most delicious, most perfectly seared ahi tuna i have ever even seen -- i normally don't use such hyperbolic statements as "perfectly cooked" because... well, diff'rent strokes. but here you are-- this was hot on the outside with that amazing crust you only get from a screamin-hot pan, the inside was warm and blood red. and there are no adjectives in existence to describe the wasabi drizzle. boyfriend had snapper with mango salsa -- a man who does not even LIKE mango. we're in the tropics and he still wouldn't eat a mango! but he did here, and is now a believer. also not to be missed is the conch ceviche, which has ruined me for all other ceviches. i'm tempted to take .5 stars because they only have beer and wine, and also because the ambient music bordered on muzak but with food this good, one can find forgiveness in previously unknown crevices.

Did someone say garlic???? Garlic Fans take heed, the house blue cheese and garlic dressing is worth the trip by itself could seriously be served as an appetizer with some pita chips or toast rounds. Also in attendance were some fantastic pot stickers, which where tender and succulent with a slightly spicy plum sauce. The key lime and caper sauce Mahi Mahi was the highlight in a class of all stars and finally the unique spin on Tuna Tataki was fantastic as well. Both the food and service was top notch, not only did our server keep a keen eye on our needs; we were also visited by a second server and the manager. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance of this gem in the keys; looks are deceiving. The building is older and has a look of something that would hold a pub or business, but what lurks inside is really what you're looking for if you want your taste buds tantalized and your expectations exceeded. This is not your typical tourist fare and the pricing is on par with the quality you will receive. A few extra bucks is well worth avoiding some greasy deep fried fish platter with premade coleslaw and frozen hushpuppies.

Nice atmosphere, simple clean decor, a more refined look than many other places in Marathon area. We all had very good meals! A bit pricier than other restaurants but portions were good and worth paying more for.

Absolutely amazing food. Edamame and shrimp/calamari appetizers are off the charts. I had the tuna for entree and it was, bar none, the best I've ever had. Friends had the steak and grouper and raved. This place is so underrated, it's shocking. Rachel (redhead server) NAILED the recommendations and provided outstanding service. Opens at 6:25PM sharp.

They ran out of grouper by 6 pm... inn the keys of all places. That being said, I ordered some landlubber fare and it was amazing. My advice is to get there early and your wont be disappointed. I gave it the five stars as the alps were amazing and the duck was one of the best I've ever had especially considering this is a seafood restaurant. Enjoy!

The food was fair. However the quality and quantity for the price was very, very, very poor.

Inventive cuisine. Friendly, casual atmosphere. At first it seemed pricey (and it ain't cheap), but not when you consider the nice sized portions.

Barracuda has wonderful 'drunken cherries', drowned olives and similar drinks to go with their outstanding menu. The edamame is the best we have ever tasted and their hot 'n spicy calamari and shrimp is to die for... the sauce is especially delicious for bread dipping. Unquestionably the best dining in Marathon.

Average at best. Overpriced for the quality. Good service, though.

What a treat! Wish we had gone sooner on our trip down. Love the candle light and the decor. My husband loved the wine list and the Lamb. Mine was amazing fresh grouper and we both loved the key lime pie. Casual, low key, comfortable and delicious....

Don't let the outside looks deceive you! It doesn't look like much but the food was great!! Super fresh seafood in very generous portions. New menu each night based on what's fresh. Great service and a cosy ambiance- I would definitely go there again!

Outstanding food, service and affordable wines. The menu has a wide range of options for the more casual diner to more upscale choices. I had a ribeye that knocked my socks off and my wife had the grouper. The head chef and owner is in and out of the kitchen all night long working the room and checking with his guests. It's a modest room, well decorated and comfortable. If your looking for fried fish, there are other places. We've dined all over the Keys and this place is consistent in quality, selection and price. Highly recommended!

Just finished eating the leftovers from our trip to Barracuda last night. I had the Crispy Duck and my wife had the Short Ribs; both were amazing. The red hot calamari appetizer was the stuff of legends (as we had been told). We have lived in Marathon for almost four years and this is our first trip to Barracuda, I guarantee it won't be our last.
