We attempted to go for the 5 for 5 special- but it was in the bar only. So, we decided to stay for a sit down dinner. All I remember is the portions were really small and pricy- we spent 150 and left hungry. I'm not one of those huge portions kinda person either. Just have had better.

Love this quaint friendly spot close to home - great dining experience and lovely wines

I definitely wanted to give this place another shot because, as another reviewer said, we don't have many choices in Lutz for good food. I am happy to report that the cioppino was MUCH better this time around, with a generous portion of fish and calamari. Tried the Drunken Goat cheese plate this time, and ... yummy! The subtle flavor of red wine on the edges was lovely. I would also recommend the tenderloin tips. They were quite flavorful, and the portion size was excellent for the $7. The seasame ahi tuna was also delicious.

The vine is an excellent restaurant and a breath of fresh air from the chains we have in this area. The food and service is fantastic. The only thing I would do differently is - I would make a casual menu - a couple of sandwiches and salads for dinner. We would definitely visit more often if there were a lighter menu to choose from when you didn't want a big expensive night out.
(5)Livia A.
Everything is yummy here. The Chilean Sea Bass paired with the lobster Mac n cheese is a match made in Heaven. Not too happy with their wine selections only because every one that I have tried has made me sick with a migraine. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I really like the appetizers in this place. Full bar and ladies night on Wednesdays with $5 martinis. And they have TVs at the bar where we always sit.

My wife and I stopped into the Vine to relax and have a few libations. The Vine is in a shopping center which makes the parking easy. We were greeted by the hostess who offered us indoor or outdoor seating. We chose to sit outside and sat on a cushioned couch in the corner of the patio. Nice background music that was just loud enough, the right amount of lighting, and an overall relaxed atmosphere outside. Our server was friendly, helpful, and attentive. We ordered wine and blueberry martinis to drink and both were perfect. We weren't in the mood for a full meal so we ordered a few appetizers which were all very tasty. The Vine is a great place and a good pick for a date night. It is a little bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for and this place is worth it. We will defintely be back.

After searching our neighborhood for a new restaurant for our date, I stumbled upon The Vine. I checked out their website and then made sure to call and book a table, based on their website's pictures of the dishes they serve. Imagine my disappointment after seeing beautiful dishes on their website, when we arrived at The Vine and were seated, only to be told that it was a buffet. Even more so, because when I booked, I told the lady that it would be our first time at The Vine and that we were looking forward to trying out the delicious dishes that we'd seen on their site. Seriously, throw me a bone and don't let me gush about food that I can't eat... Hungry me doesn't appreciate that. The buffet was nothing outstanding, though I do liked they served Mimosas and Bloody Mary's with it. And it was extremely pricey for two people, even with Bloody Mary's and Mimosas included. We went, we saw, we didn't like it.

The atmosphere of the vine is absolutely perfect for date night. I had the Sunday brunch , and plus drinks (which were perfect). It was my first time there and I honestly had no complaints. I met the owner and manager and all very kind people. The place is beautiful and the menu looks absolutely appealing . I can't wait to go back .

Great and fun place for date night. We shared a few items from the menu. Cioppino appetizer- very good with a kick to it. Had 2-3 shrimp, 1 scallop sliced and some mussels. Short rib appetizer- very good. Grilled veggies side- light and tasty Special risotto of the day- this was our least favorite dish of the night and we were surprised that it was $24, as we were under the impression we were ordering an appetizer. We wouldn't order this again. (Not because of the price. We just didn't care for the dish before we saw the price) Drinks were great, too. Hubby had beers on tap and I tried the cinnamon crunch martini, which was sweet, but good.

One of my favorite go-to restaurants in Tampa area. It's a great menu and good consistent meals for the price. I have been here many times and have never had a bad meal. Snapper is my go-to. The short ribs are also very good and very filling. Reasonably priced menu. Highly recommend!

We chose to eat here for Mothers Day brunch today. This was my second visit, the first leaving me with an impression of good but pricy. I can tell you after my second visit I will not be back. We had a table of 8, I wasn't ready to order so I asked him to start at the other end. When the food came out I realized he had never taken my order. I finally got my meal and asked for another Mimosa which was not delivered 20 minutes later. In a nutshell-- service was terrible. It was expensive and the amount of food on the plates was skimpy given the price. I love to eat out and believe in supporting good family owned restaurants but believe me this place is not worth it.

Great food, very friendly staff, and easy location. The mixed drinks were great. I can't wait to go back and sample the wine menu.

Since my last visit, I went back this time to try their dinner. I sat outside since last time I thought it was too dark. I did like it better, and was happy I can have my dog with me. Our service was good. We had a really nice male server who didn't mind coming outside to check on us. He was great. I ordered the braised short rib and eggplant rollatini to share with my hubby. They were both okay to me. Braised short rib was definitely tender, but the flavor was not as vibrant as I have had at other places. Eggplant rollatini is basically another way of saying eggplant parmagiana. With that being the case, I have had better. Therefore, this place is just okay to me. I did see a lot of people sitting around the bar inside drinking. Maybe they are better for wine and drinks. They do have happy hour during the week with some basic $5 specials.

The vine is at North Lutz, in the same plaza as Publix and LA fitness. We sat at outside patio area which was nice if no one smoking there. Some bread and cheese were served while we waiting for our dishes. I had grill veal entrée. The César salad was average. The veal was a thick piece accompany by mash potato and some spinach. The flavor was good and the the meat was cooked right. Inside the restaurant, there were bar, live music , good decoration. Guests seemed enjoyed the night hanging out.

Is a small bar-restaurant in Lutz. Great ambience outside or inside at the bar or a table in the restaurant. Great selection of wines, liquor and cocktails and very tasty appetizers.
(4)Ann S.
The food was wonderful and the service was excellent! Thanks so much for allowing us to have our Debate Watch Party here tonight! You guys rock!

I visit The Vine in spurts, my last visit being Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014. I am always referring someone to this establishment and I can truly say to date I have always enjoyed myself and those I have referred say the same. Who knows, I may go back to being a regular!

The food is great, the service outstanding, ask for John, and if you happen to be there on Friday or Saturday, there's a girl who is a wonderful singer

I met here for lunch with the Tampa Chapter of National Association of Professional Women. The atmosphere was divine and the food was delicious! I had a turkey club, which sounds simple, but it's made with an herb mayo that makes it special. The french fries were so good I boxed them to heat in the oven later-I rarely do that! I will definitely return for some wine and dinner the next time I'm in the area.

I have heard about the Vine and have a friend that frequents a different location. Late afternoon, after a very long day, and several stops yet to make, a glass or 2 of wine, sounded like exactly what I needed. I am a bar perso and by choice and usually choose to drink and/or eat at the bar rather than a table or booth. This establishment is a bit out of the way for me, just North on Dale Mabry, South of Van Dyke, on the West side of the street. It is just over the Lutz zoning line, so you are not in Pasco County. It is located in a shopping mall, that just happens to have some really good stores and restaurants. As I walked in I was captured by the low key, yet upscale ambiance of the establishment. I know I read the reviews about a good place for date night and I totally agree. On the other hand, I also feel that it is a great place to stop and chillax, unwind, regroup and relax with your choice of vino. On this particular early evening/late afternoon, the temp return was quickly falling outside, to be the coldest night of the year, so far, here in Tampa. The bartender was terrific and made several suggestion for a nice dry red wine, I was even able to sample a few, as it should be in an establishment that specializes in craft beers or fine wines. I asked about specials, perused the menu, while sipping my first glass of a very full bodied Merlote. There were some Happy Hour items and the menu looked absolutely tantalizing. I really wanted to order something to nibble on, but it just didn't fit with the plans I had for latter...bummed. LOL, I wasn't bumble for long, besides the bartender going out of ther way to make my first experience at the Vine exceptional, I realized I had some fellow enthusiasts at the bar. It started out with light, polite & intelligent conversation and I think by the time I left, World Peace and water purity issues had been resolved. I had a great time & it was exactly the afternoon release I was seeking and it exceeded all expectations I had when I entered. BRAVO To the Vine, thank you for a delightful respite in my busy day. I came for the wine, but stayed not only because the wine was magnificent, the surroundings had a cool, but relaxed vibe, service was spot on and the patrons were a total joy. I shall return! My next visit is of course based partially on my initial, exceptional experience, but I have to try the food, with some wine pairings. Yes, I belive all things in moderation, even though I am quite sure the 2 glasses of wine, I had squeezed into my schedule got extended by extra glasses and additional time, that was scheduled to finish my life duties. What's a girl to do? Life duties extend to new experiences, new friends and of course good wines!

The Vine provides inside and outside sitting. We were here with friends after the Flight Festival since they are close at 2 in the morning. But the main menu kitchen close at 10:30. We were sitting outside and fortunately no one is smoking that night. The Vine is a wine bar and restaurant. The inside provide live music for customers who enjoy a glass of their choice. It is very spacious restaurant in north Dale Mabry. We have ordered the braised short rib and the grilled chop veal. The veal is with bone and it is one inch thick. The meat is cook to the order. There is some tendon near the bone area. The short rib is braise and it is in red wine sauce. I think they need to braised it a bit longer for folk tender. The sauce can be caramelized a little bit to make it nicer to appreciate. Overall the restaurant is great to enjoy with good service. The restaurant is well decorated except they have a share rest room with the restaurant next door.

Do NOT go if you are actually hungry. Very little portions, large price, and mediocre service. There is no bang for your buck at this restaurant and the food is nothing special. The restaurant was overpriced and I will not be going back. I'd rather go to Carmel Kitchen and Wine Bar 10/10 times over, where the drinks are delicious, the food is spectacular, and the price is more than fair.

Had an excellent experience at The Vine last night! Went in with a friend after not having been for about three years. Whatever changes were made were good ones! Service was impeccable - and food was delightful. We ordered a bottle of Merlot out of Napa and shortly after, our server came by with a divine basket of bread with cheese and balsamic glaze. We skipped starters due to this pleasant accompaniment. For entrees: My friend had the snapper which she loved. I ordered the lamb which was on special. I didn't love it..which may have been due to the sauce it was served with BUT our server worked very hard and he brought me a couple of alternative sauces to try it with. In the end, I decided that it was probably too gamey for my tastes and enjoyed the mashed potatoes and asparagus instead. The salad was also very good. Next time I will order the braised ribs (I strayed from that choice for the lamb). Ambiance is on point. Trendy, diverse...albeit an older crowd than what I am used to (probably due to the suburban location). Live music wasn't too loud (you know those bars where the music drowns out your voices and your train of thought). The indoor atmosphere was fun, lively and supportive of intellectual conversation over wine (a true MUST in any wine bar/restaurant). Overall: I would definitely return!

Having dined at the Vine previously and not super-impressed, we found that the happy hour was a perfect time to go back and try it again and we were not at all disappointed. Although it is getting warm in the afternoon sun, they do a nice job of shading some comfy couches and high tops on the front patio. Happy hour starts at 4 daily and includes a variety of wines and 4-5 appetizer options all priced at $5. The mozzarella and prosciutto was delicately fried and there is no doubt it was extremely fresh..... the cheese stayed oozing as long as the patty sized morsels lasted and showed no sign of being prefrozen nor made offsite. The calamari was equally crispy and fresh with plenty of tiny Os to dip into your marinara. They offered a red blend that was very refreshing, dry and crisp. Our server had only been working ther a week yet knew the menu and was extremely pleasant to have wait on us-welcoming us back since we mentioned we had not visited in a long time. They appear to have a Monday night occasional wine pairing dinner that seemed exorbitant at $200 per person, but the menu looked divine. The menu is updated and the atmosphere inside is romantic yet still lively enough for group socializing. Definitely a great place to meet up with friends and some great wines and delicious food.

My wife and I have a great time....first time...tapas were excellent, mojitos were well made and service was, excellent. Will be back and would recommend.

For their first brunch this was amazingly good! Attentive staff, great fare, nice relaxing atmosphere. The pastries were delectable, prime rib you can cut with a fork and some very tasty sausages! Congrats on a great opening Sunday brunch! We will be back.

Everything was really good. Swordfish was awesome. Great service too. Gonna come back.
(5)Jeff R.
Awesome food amazing brunch and plenty of wines and spirits to empress me. Open for lunch and live music on the weekend. Great for date night
(5)Becki T.
A great experience. Food very good and service phenomenal. The opening of wine is always celebratory, even for two. But the decanter here makes it even more memorable.
(4)Nicole J.
They have really good food and a good wine selection. Our waiter was friendly and the onion soup was the best I've had! I had the salmon as well and top notch.
(5)Lynne D.
Sorry to have to cross this spot off my list but $9.00 for a mixed drink makes that decision easier. 2 drinks, 1 beer and a $5 appetizer - $31! Had we had a full meal with wine, I can't imagine what the total would be. Food is good but the overall price is just too high.
(3)Mandy R.
It was really yummy. The waiter wasn't sure of the price of the special we ordered, and said 28 well it was 34 each when we got the check. I wouldn't have ordered the steak on special being it was more expensive than their menu steak, but can't complain on the taste just as a family with a small child if you have them you know every penny counts.overall the experience was really good, and they were accommodating for my 3 year old who definitely was out of place, but wasn't aware until I sat. Really nice place overall for a date night, and next time I'll have a sitter.

We have been to The Vine infrequently; so were pleasantly surprised to find the menu completely re-done. All Italian dishes. An added new feature usually reserved for fine Tapa's restaurants: Most of the pasta entrees are offered in full, app, and sampler portion sizes. This is an awesome new twist to the menu!! As with Tapa's; your group can order several smaller, sharing portions and enjoy a wide range of gastronomic delights. Great for a social evening over a couple bottles of wine!! Definitely the way to go.

Since moving to the area about two years ago, my wife and I have been to the vine at least ten times. The first few times were great the daily fish was always our favorite option and the appetizers were always interesting with good variety. The service is extremely hit or miss, we have sat at both the bar and the dining room. Service should be above standard when paying good prices for food and drinks but i can only recall a couple times we had proper service with no issues. The menu always seemed to slightly change but last visit they have moved to all Italian menu. Wasn't expecting to have Italian that night but decided to stay since we already drove there veal chop wasn't what I expected and my wife had the grouper which had no flavor. Mussels had questionable smell that wasn't appetizing, didn't even really touch them server asked if we were done with them, just took them and left never asked if there was a issue since we ate two and left the bowl filled. Change is always good for restaurants to stay fresh and ahead but they must of changed owners or something, dramatically different from our first few times there not worth spending the money for a place so inconsistent. The bathrooms were also very poorly managed seems to be shared with neighboring restaurant which was kind of odd. Might try again for a drink but that's about it.

Located in North Tampa, The Vine offers a small outdoor seating area as well as the main indoor restaurant. The outside is usually crowded at night, but their Happy Hour starts at 4PM so if you go a little earlier you could grab a table or couch seating area with friends outside. The inside is pretty dark but attractive and trendy. Multiple smaller tables and a long bar dominate the room. The portions are smaller, but the food is very good. The wine is by the glass or by the bottle. They have a nice, varied wine list. A tip: At Happy Hour they have a $5 glass of the day's special wines and a $5 appetizer. The wine is a healthy pour. The service is friendly and excellent. I would visit again with friends at a time when I could sit outside.I really enjoyed the atmosphere - its fun! I'll be back!

I discovered this restaurant because my ex-girlfriend wanted to meet me so we can have a civil discussion and catch up. I agreed to meet on neutral ground and this is the place that we decided on. Simply put, this place is amazing. The Atmosphere: Tucked away in a shopping center on Dale Mabry in what is considered Lutz, this place is ideal for all occasions - Happy Hours, Birthdays, Romantic Dinners or sitting alone at the bar (I've done this here before and yes, I'm okay with it). There are high tops with bar stools, seating for small parties or larger ones. The Drinks: The drinks are expertly made with skill and perfection. The first time that we were there we sat at the bar and Beth was our bartender. She was amazing. Great conversationalist and shows genuine interest for her customers. The Food: Just as great as the drinks. I've been here multiple times and have had the St. Louis Ribs, which fall off the bone. The sauce is amazing. I always order extra on the side. The meatballs are giant and succulent and nicely coated in red sauce. The calamari is cooked flawlessly and seasoned well. The Service: Amazing, amazing, amazing! Beth is one of the best bartenders that I've had. There is waiter that works here named Johnnie, who is one of the best waiters. He is intuitive, attentive and honest with his recommendations. The entire staff is professional, but Johnnie and Beth are standouts. B. Major Grade: A+

Great experience! I really wasn't sure of what to expect from the variety of Yelp reviews. Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised! When we were arrived, we were told that our reservation didn't go through. It was Valentine's Day, so I started going into panic mode. Luckily they weren't packed (phew) and we were seated right away. They placed a single red rose on the table, as well. Nice touch, The Vine. Nice touch. Our waiter arrived promptly and asked if we would be enjoying a bottle of wine. When we advised that we would be, he brought us back to the cellar. This totally made me feel fancy. We selected a well priced bottle of zinfandel, which was really nice. I went for the scallops and parmesan risotto, which are two of my favorite foods. Both were cooked to perfection! My fiance' went for the duck breast and parmesan risotto, also very good. We finished off with an order of crème brulee which was the perfect texture and flavor. The atmosphere was nice in here, but not pretentious. While The Vine is a bit off the beaten path (Lutz), I definitely look forward to coming back and trying some more of their food and wine menu!

I was so excited walking into this place, great atmosphere, menu had some great choices too! I was soon disappointed. I went for lunch with a friend, we ordered the meat and cheese player, which came out pretty quickly but was a little skimpy, which I would have let pass of that was the only issue. From that point it took an hour, no exaggeration, to get out meals, which both came out wrong. I ordered a salad and sandwich, my sandwich was wrong, and my friend order and salad and was brought a soup and sandwich. The waiter apologized and promised it'd only be a few minutes. At this point we needed to get back to work and couldn't wait any longer. My friend approached the manager and told him we had to leave. He offered to make our food Togo and brought the check. The manager was very awkward and nervous, it was upsetting that he hadn't come to the table on his own when we were having all of these issues. Our food came, and so did the check with everything on it. We paid $40 for a mediocre togo lunch that ended up taking an hour and a half. When I did finally eat my food, I found that they had just taken my salad (the only thing that was right initially) off the plate and put in it a box instead of making a new one with the dressing on the side. By the time I went to eat it is was soggy and ruined. Overall very, very disappointed with my experience :(

I really enjoyed our first visit there tonight. Good atmosphere, private booth, and attentive service. Waiter was a little rough around the edges, but took good care of us. Brought out water in a glass bottle for the table. Water glass had a slice of cucumber, which I thought was fresh and unique. We went for the Monday night dinner for two special. $60 for an app, 2 salads, 2 entrees, a bottle of wine, and dessert (all from a limited menu.) Food was good, but not great. Bruchetta was pretty tasty. Great balsamic reduction really made it. I had the mahi-mahi, and it was yummy, well-cooked, but could've used more seasonings. Hubby had the ribeye. It was well-cooked, too, but seriously lacked seasoning. Sides were all good. Carrot cake was really good, moist, homemade. I will go back to try something from the regular menu.

My rating would have been a "4", but our waiter was not at all attentive. It was lucky my friends and I were so engrossed in our conversation, otherwise we would have been mad that our drinks took over 20 minutes to make it to our table or that our waiter never came back with an item we requested. Our waiter's rating = "1.5". Not at all impressed. The hostess and the bus boy were extremely pleasant and helpful. They receive a "5". The wine was good, the cocktails were strong, and the food was average. We only had the bruschetta and summer roll, so I have no idea how the other items measure up. I won't be frequenting this spot, but I am also not opposed to going back. Recommend. Nice wine bar. Worth stopping by if you are in the Lutz area and looking for some vino and nosh.

Good drinks, nice local spot when I'm visiting friends more north than where I usually hang out.

I met up with my 2 girlfriends on a Tuesday night for an evening of drinks, food and conversation. I had been to the Vine once before with friends, and had tremendously enjoyed the experience. So, I looked forward to returning with high expectations. We were seated in a booth, and provided with 2 menus for the 3 of us--having been told they were short of menus, even though the restaurant was mostly empty-- not including the happy hour menu, which we were definitely in time for. Our waiter appeared, and got us the happy hour menu and a cocktail menu. The drinks were very good. Our waiter would peek at us, and not actually come back to our table despite our many attempts to wave him over so we could order another round of drinks and some food. We finally got him back and ordered some appetizers, which arrived fairly quickly. We had to hunt him down again in order to order our food and another round of drinks. He swooped by assuming we wanted the same drinks and we had to yell at him to come back, as we wanted to try something new, since it was happy hour. We ordered 2 flat breads to share amongst the 3 of us. Our new drinks arrived and we chatted awhile. At about the 45 minute mark, my friend noticed a roach crawling on the wall behind me. I immediately jumped up, and we asked the hostess to change our seating to a table. We also mentioned that we hadn't seen our waiter and it had been at least 45 minutes since we ordered our food. The flatbreads, when they came were tasty, but extremely small (especially for the price). My friends ordered more wine, but I stuck to water at this point. We might have ordered more food, but we never saw our waiter before he stopped by to bring us the dessert menu. We also noticed that the staff proceeded to seat another couple at the booth we vacated due to the roach. We were enjoying the conversation, and decided to move it to the outside seating area, assuming that since one of our party carried a wine glass that someone would be checking the outside area for any orders. No one came out even one time to see if we wanted anything else. On a side note, a young man stopped by our table a couple of times, dressed casually in jeans and t-shirt, but apparently was a manager? He didn't introduce himself or ask how we were enjoying ourselves, more like picking up the slack for our waiter...The 3 of us decided that we will take our business elsewhere in the future, and most definitely not recommend...The premise is a good one, the execution fails dismally...
