This is a neat little place located in a Shopping Center. Once inside, you'll find a nice set up complete with a decent length bar, and table and booth seating. The menu provides a nice variety to choose from. I've eaten here a couple of times and each time the food was good. The nice thing about the food is that it isn't greasy like most "bar food". The nachos are probably my favorite. The portions are good sized and the prices are very reasonable, actually on the low end. The staff are pleasant and attentive, the environment is pleasant, the food is tasty, and the price is right. I try not to go to the same place too often, as I enjoy trying new things, but I may make an exception for this place.

Good place for drinks and sports. Trivia on Wednesdays.. not crazy about the menu, but I don't come here to drink anyway.

Nice local bar. Decent selection of beers and they have a full bar which is nice since a lot of brew places only serve beer and wine. The food is good for bar food we like the baked chicken tenders, the salads and burger are all very good. Service is just whatever not the most welcoming bar tenders. Can bring our dog on the patio out front which is a huge plus for us. Overall good food, enough tvs to watch games good spot for Sunday football.

Tender French Dip and Plentiful Draft Choices. This sports pub gets 5 stars because it is excellent at what it does: offering large portions of excellent quality pub fare, appetizers and a huge selection of draft, IPAs and Cider with myriad TVs around for those watching sports events. On the Southeast corner of Van Dyke and Dale Mabry, it is a long narrow venue so do not be deterred when you see the occupied high tops and booths near the front. Walk toward the back and you will likely find a booth on the left that is ready for you. The service is very attentive and helpful, providing informed advice when asked. Call me crazy, but everything on the menu is $8.99 or $9.99! Don't go looking for an exception because I am sure you will find it but those prices are definitely the most common. I started off with the pork potstickers. They were perfect - light, tender and filling the plate - at least 6! Normally you get 3 in an appetizer!! There were two sauces - spicy and peanut. Both were good, but try the peanut and you will be very happy. They also offered bruschetta, drunken cheese bread, nachos and many other appetizers. The entrees centered around burgers, sandwiches and salads. Given the pub atmosphere, I ordered a French dip sandwich. Not a big fan of dipping cold condiments in hot broth, I had them hold the horseradish. Absolutely awesome!! A huge hoagie roll loaded with extremely tender prime roast beef covered with melted cheese. The Au Jus was rich and flavorful and served in a very generous portion. It was so good I ordered another to take back to my son and he loved it too!! The crowd around me were more into the IPAs and Brews than I was, but the server offer another helpful tip: Woodchuck Amber Cidre on draft. Wow, good suggestion! If you have only tried hard cider in a bottle and missed the opportunity to taste the draft version you are missing out. I couldn't believe the depth of flavor and taste in the draft cider. I will go back for that alone! Don't believe me, go try it yourself!! Enjoy!

Great place great service. Lots of tvs for sports. Lots of different kinds of beer. The red pepper hummus is amazing. Love this place!
(5)Melanie R.
This place is great! Buffalo chicken dip is my favorite for sure. They have a huge selection of beers and a full bar too. Lots of TVs for game day and comfy outside seating for nice nights. The staff is super friendly too, definitely a win all around.
(5)John S.
This is a great lunch spot. They have a lunch special...$5.99 for a Half Sandwich with soup or salad. I had the Caesar Salad and Meatball Sub and it was delicious! The place is spotless and the staff friendly and attentive.
(4)Amy Z.
This place always has really good live music, great food, and a super selection of beers! Service leaves a bit to be desired, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. Every meal I have had there has been super delicious. The chicken salad sandwich was only OK, but other than that...kudos!
(4)Robin R.
Best service, super cold beer, full liquor and great menu. They truly care to get to know their customers. Great happy hour and daily specials. Plenty of TVs to catch all the games.
(5)Benjamin C.
Great service!! Tara and Sam were awesome!! Great beer selection and full liquor bar'!! Nachos were HUGE!!!! Great spot to watch the game!!

A few months ago, we moved away from Lutz and I really miss our weekly trips to HOB. It's the perfect neighborhood bar/restaurant to relax on a Friday night. They have a superb selection of beer with something for everyone. My husband loves very hoppy, strong beer and I love anything not too hoppy or sweet, usually a brown. They always have a few of both of our favorite options. They usually have a beer of the month that you can buy for a great price, and it's usually a great beer. They also have some fruity and fun mixed drinks. I brought a non-beer-drinking friend there once and she had no problem finding something she would enjoy. The food is your basic bar grub, which is probably my favorite type of food. My husband loves their sliders and I usually order the grilled cheese and tomato soup. So good and it goes perfectly with beer. Most importantly, order the buffalo cheese dip. It's a must have at HOB. Sometimes, we would just go in, order a couple beers, and the dip. We always left happy.

Great Local Brew House. Awesome selection of Beer and food! Great place to watch the games, College or NFL. Good specials for happy hour and game days. Jaime, Anne and their staff are great, make you feel welcome every time you walk in the door!

You would never know this place even existed unless you went into the plaza and drove all the way to the end. It's pretty big inside. They have a full bar and the bartenders are always so nice. We came towards the end of the night looking for a nightcap and the wine place next door 'closed earlier than stated'. It was nice to walk in and get instantly greeted. The bar end was full and there were a few people out by the outside seating area. Everyone is nice and it seems like a total local bar because everyone knew each other. On to the food. By the looks of the reviews the food is good and made from scratch. I guess we were at a disadvantage because we came so late and wanted something to eat. We ordered the salsa & guac (which i thought would be safe) but when she brought it out it didn't look too appealing and the taste was right there with the looks. Someone asked about what else they were serving and she said ya no don't get anything now just get a drink. So maybe we'll go earlier and try out the food end coz the bar end is great!

Unreal. Get here! They don't have fryers, and they make their menu from scratch. Bread delivered 5 times a week. Unbelievable Tap selection and Menu. ANNNND, the wait staff is actually (wait for it....) FRIENDLY and they LIKE working here! Don't wait, do it now.

I am one of the few that are not avid beer drinkers. Occasionally in the Summer, when it is really hot or out of necessity are the few times I will drink a brew. The establishment sits in a strip mall among other businesses. I was there during the week and the place was overflowing with people. This smallish place was standing room only & it was loud. Did I mention it was loud, like everyone yelling to be heard. It appeared 5hat the crowd w as enjoying themselves & having a good time. Service was slow and the wine offering were minimal. House of Brews appears to appeal to the loud masses, but personally it just isn't my style. I'd take a honky tonk any day over a loud sardine can, just my personal preference. What's a girl to do? Go find a place a bit quieter where you can hear yourself. Yup I need to talk to myself some days, my bad!

nice little gem of a bar in the Lutz area ! Me and the misses was looking for a bar to satisfy our late night thirst and ended up here. Nice local spot that basically has what you need, a great selection of liquor & beers with accompanying bar food to match. Plus our bartender was very gracious and friendly and served us what ever we wanted with the quickness. we wanted a little light late night snack so we ordered the chips & guac. the salsa was a little on the watery side but i thought the guac was decent and not too bad. They have a cool patio set out in the front which is a nice alternative to sitting inside. sort of like cool looking pool side patio furniture but none the less a nice alternative to the interior. on their boards they touted a few good happy hour specials which i will be sure to come back and check out with the misses for the next time. they also have various live music acts here so be sure to check the calendar. based on the overall vibe of the place, those nights can sum up to a kick ass time!

Local, clean, and friendly pub style joint located in a fairly new shopping center on North Dale Mabry. My girlfriend used to work nearby and always bragged about how great their food was especially the fish tacos. I finally decided to give it a try a was very impressed. Although I didn't order the fish tacos, I fell in love with a tender sliced ribeye steak hoagie for 8.99. The steak was perfectly seasoned and the vegetables on it were nice and fresh. Their food menu is huge with something on there for every craving. Didn't get to drink any of the beer but saw that the menu had over 50 different beers including bottles, cans, and drafts. I cant wait to go back and try the fish tacos and a specialty beer. Actually, I might go back this weekend lol. 8-28-2014 - So I tried the fish tacos.....they were not the best fish tacos I have had but they were good. The order comes with 3 tacos made with tilapia, chipotle mayo, slaw, pico, and rice w/ black beans on the side. It was definitely filling and worth the 11.99 I paid.

More like 3.5 stars. Average strip mall bar and their draft selection is decent. Service was excellent - didn't have to wait long for refills. Kind of a small-ish place and they have bands there supposedly but I have no idea where they'd fit them in. Was there on a Wednesday night and they had trivia, which is always fun, except when people use their cell phone to cheat, like the people next to us. Idiots. But yeah, I'd probably go back.

My dad and I came here one afternoon after a day of shopping and decided to grab a quick drink. The bar itself was pretty packed for a Friday afternoon around 3pm, but that's okay because we were still able to grab seats and order. The bartender was pretty friendly and took our drink orders quickly. I was excited to be able to order a Yuengling (we don't have them in STL) so I happily ordered a pint and enjoy sip. My dad and I were chatting and observing the other patrons. The couple next to us ordered the loaded nachos (or something like that) and they were massive! I don't know how anyone can eat that many nachos, but they seemed to be enjoying them. My dad was in need of a snack and opted to order the tacos since they were a smaller menu item. They were delivered quickly and looked tasty. He asked for some extra salsa, but I think the bartender forgot. I could tell she had a lot going on. She did offer us refills on our drinks which was great because I needed another. Once we finished our drinks we chatted for a bit longer and then had to leave since we had plans at home with the rest of the family. It was definitely a nice little relaxing afternoon at House of Brews and I would recommend checking it out.
(4)Bradley H.
Everything about this place is mediocre. For a place with "brews" in the title I expected more of a beer selection and more of a pub feel. Friendly staff and clean environment.
(3)Jeff L.
Service is great. Bartenders remember what you drink and what you like. Live music on Fridays and Burger Night on Thursdays! Best combo of craft beer and alcohol around. Very friendly and laid back.
(4)Lisa D.
My husband and I have been going to House of Brews since it opened and love it being close to where we live. What we enjoy more is their happy hour with great brews and tasty appetizers. We've not had bad service ever. My husband drinks a combination beer called black magic, which is Guinness and magic hat 9, we only recently learned it is a pain to make, but have always had it poured perfectly. The owners, Jamie and Ann are conscientious people making sure things go smoothly. They offer a frequent visitor card where you receive a $25 certificate for every $250 spent. The live music they provide is always an added treat.

I think I've found my go to place for a beer and a burger close to home. I'm in that plaza all the time for various reasons ( girlfriend drags me to Homegoods while I'm like a kid in a candy store at Golfsmith.) and finally gave this place a try. Boy, am I glad I did! It was absolutely packed on a Friday night, and for good reason. The food is delicious ( obviously went with the Burger) and the prices are great. While they do have a variety of delicious beers both on Tap and in bottle, I feel like a place called " House of Brews" should have more Draft beer than it actually did. Just a minor complaint from a beer snob! Won't keep me from coming back though!
(4)Darren E.
It's not Cheers quite yet (they don't yell my name when I enter), but still big props for knowing my name. Menu for beers is extensive, and they never run out of my favorite. ...Yuengling. Food menu is diverse including pub like favorites and other assorted yumminess. My better half like the buffalo chicken dip. Im very partial to the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The loyalty club is worth filling out especially if you practice a healthy diet of of thinning the blood stream. Stop in and say hello. Well, not to me.....someone will talk to you.
(4)David D.
I usually stop in once a month to give the Beer of the Month a try. They do a really nice job rotating the drafts. Always something new and usually nothing that I have had before. The owners are great. A real friendly , welcoming feel. Food is better than you would expect. They do some good work out of the kitchen. They are busy afternoons and evenings so something must be going right. Give it a try if you find yourself up north and in the need of a cold one, or two.
(4)Greg D.
I've been meaning to try this place for a couple years now, and glad I finally did. Fantastic food, friendly staff, and a good beer selection. The food was very fresh and most of the menu items aren't fried, which is awesome for "bar food." The drunken cheesy bread was legit!

There are some tasty beers at House of Brews, and they're reasonably priced. If you're in a wheelchair, however, keep in mind that the round booth (with a cut-out big enough to roll up into) is far in the back. On our way in and our way out, we were obliged to ask other patrons to please stand up from their stool-chairs, push them all the way in, and stand aside in order to have barely enough room to squeeze by, then repeat the process at the next high table. Our server was very helpful in finding vegetarian food for me to eat, which is not too easy when the fare is mostly straightforward pub grub, but I ended up with a hummus and veggie wrap and it wasn't bad. I'd come back here to meet friends. I'd come back here if we were in the neighborhood. For most occasions, the friendly folks here simply work in a restaurant that isn't for us. And that's OK, if it's more your style.

I really enjoyed this place. Food, beer, and great atmosphere. Hit the trifecta there. Food wise: the buffalo chicken dip is delicious. It comes in a bread bowl and you get tortilla chips with it. Nice little dish to share with the table if you are there primarily for drinks. They have a full menu, but at a place called House of Brews, I for one am not looking to have dinner. Great beer menu also. If you are going to call your establishment House of Brews you pretty much need a great beer list. I recommend this place for anyone who just wants a beer, and maybe an appetizer or sandwich.
(4)Jessica M.
House of Brews has great food (especially the chicken quesadillas and flat breads) and a decent craft beer selection. The patio is nothing special, just overlooks the parking lot. They have a decent craft beer selection on draft and in the bottle, but it doesn't change very often. Live music is sometimes nice, but the volume is sometimes overwhelming in the small-ish space of the restaurant. We go there because it's close to home and they have a good happy hour.
(4)Allison F.
Great neighborhood bar that is very low key. Great food, nice selection of beers, and plenty of booze. They offer a decent happy hour on drinks and food. Plenty of t.v.'s if your a sports fanatic. Definitely a place you will wanna keep coming back to.
(5)Rob B.
If you're in the area in need of a beer check this place out. The beer menu is extensive but not all that impressive if you're a beer geek like me. There is a small set up for outdoor seating that's okay but not great, still beats being inside on a cool winter's night. They do offer food but I have not eaten here.

Perfect spot to catch a game and get THE BEST WINGS IN TAMPA (they are baked not fried). This place is tiny but it has fun servers and bartenders, some tv's, a solid selection of brew and THE BEST WINGS IN TAMPA. I would definitely suggest this for some solid bar food, beer and a relaxed atmosphere. I believe it is locally owned which is great, I love to support smaller companies if they are good. Did I mention to GET THE WINGS????
(4)Norm H.
The Best Little Beer Bar In Tampa!!! But wait it's not just beer, they have an entire liquor and wine bar with some of Tampa's best bartenders!! If you've wanted and looked for a neighborhood bar this is it. They have 24 of the most outstanding draft beers in the world along with a huge assortment of bottled beers. Not a beer drinker, then the bartenders will make you any cocktail you desire. It's friendly like no bar I've ever been to in Tampa. I've met some of the nicest people there. If you're hungry they have good pub grub and the kitchens opened late. Most any day of the week there's some kind of great special going on. Friday and Saturday nights they have live entertainment. If you love craft beer this is the place to go. Everyone in your group will be pleased since they have great beer, wine, cocktails and food unlike many of the craft beer pubs. HOB has the best prices on premium beers in Tampa!!
(5)Robin P.
It does not get much better then the House of Brews! Great staff, food and drinks. It's my cheers.
(5)Tim A.
I've been in this are for years. Not able to find a good local bar I have tried many in ybor, Tampa, citrus park, all close to work or on the way home. Living in Land O Lakes it gets hard to travel into Tampa on the weekends. I'm so happy I've found a great place with many beer selections, full bar, and good food. Thank you HOB!
(5)Lacey S.
We absolutely love this place! The staff is super nice and helpful! If you are in the hospitality industry, make sure you get a hospitality card so you can get any draft beer for $3 after 10pm! They have a nice selection and can make recommendations as well. The food is pretty good as well.....we LOVE the buffalo chicken dip and the chicken nachos! It would be nice to have normal bar food sometimes to counteract the alcohol, but since they dont have a fryer, you have to get the healthier version :-) All in all, fantastic place, good live music and nice cold beer!
(5)Jeff G.
Sometimes you get lucky and find a place you never knew existed. That's how I feel about McAnderson's House of Brews Tavern & Grille. I use a location based rewards app called foursquare. I won't go into what it is, but you can look them up. One day while I was checking in somewhere else, House of Brews showed up as a local business. Since a house full of brew is one of my favorite things, I knew I needed to check it out. Now that I've been a few times I really wish I had discovered it sooner. House of Brews is not just your typical "beer bar". They have a full menu full of wonderful food and they also sell liquor which just adds to the greatness of the place. I'll start with the food, since I am feeling hungry at the moment. I always order the Steamin Soft Pretzels, which come with great dipping sauces and really get you in the mood for some beer. The baked wings are also tremendously spicy and have quite a unique thing going for them. Along with many great appetizers, they also have a great selection of salads, wraps, sliders, and a truly incredible chili dog. Their take on bar food really helps you settle in for a nice day of drinking beer. The House of Brews doesn't have the vast array of beers to choose from that places like World of Beer and The Brass Tap do, but what they lack in quantity they more than make up for in quality. You can find choices from Abita, Bell's, Cigar City, and Chimay, among the 50 different bottled beers and almost 30 on tap. They also have a "mystery" beer on the menu, which of course I ordered, that ended up just being one of their regular beers they carry. I was hoping for some kind of blind taste test in a black mug or something, but what the hell. It seemed like a good gimmick. Much like other beer bars, HOB also lets you mix and match your favorite bottles of beer to take home with you. This is a great way to sample many kinds of beer in the comfort of your own home. You know, so no one sees you spit out the ones you don't like. If you are in the mood for something stronger, there is a nice selection of specialty drinks on the menue as well. From funky martinis, to their take on the Manhattan, and even a vanilla vodka drink with an Oreo on top, if you like drinks you can't find anywhere else you'll have a good time trying them all. It's nice to have a choice between beer and liquor, and the House of Brews is smart to not limit themselves to just their wonderful brews. On our most recent visit, we came for beer and NFL football on Sunday. This is a great place to watch all of the games, except the Bucs of course, and the many different groups of fans makes the day quite entertaining as you follow them on their team's highs and lows. There was a good crowd of people, but not overly packed, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. (Except for the Denver fans. As Oakland scored their 20th touchdown of the game, I imagine many of them were wishing they had stayed home.) The staff always seem to be happy to be there and knowledgeable about the beers they are selling. Nothing grinds my gears more than someone working in a beer bar that doesn't drink the beer. It's like going to buy a car and having the salesman tell you he's never driven any of them. I haven't met them all yet and don't have a favorite yet, but so far so good. If you like having cute girls bring you beer and serve you food, I doubt you'll have a problem with the waitresses there. At each table, and on their web site, is a calendar of events for each month. Each day something different is going on and it makes you want to go back and check each one out. There's a "Buy the Draft, Keep the Glass" special on Mondays, which is great for folks that like craft beer glasses. I know I do and this keeps me from having to shove my favorites in my wife's purse before I run out of the bar. On Wednesdays they have bring your own mug night, which I think is just a clever ploy to have you bring back a glass you took from them on Monday and leave it on your table in a drunken haze. Thursday nights are extended happy hour until midnight and drafts are $3. Can't beat that anywhere. Friday and Saturday night feature live music like most places. So as you can see, there's always something going on at HOB. My recommendation is that you head to the House of Brews next time you are in the Northdale/Lutz area. It's a fun place with a great menu and plenty of tv's and people watching to keep you happy. I know I'm making it a weekly must for my wife and I and it's so close to home that I'll probably go even more than that. Just don't tell The Brass Tap. They might get jealous.
