I have been on a taco salad kick lately so that is what I ordered. The shell was decent. However the filling (chicken was my choice) was a gooey mess and ended up soaking into most of the shell. At the end of my meal it was mushy. The chicken was not bad though. Keep in mind that it appeared to be dark meat only - if that kind of thing matters to you. The lettuce was iceberg lettuce, which I am not a huge fan of, but it will do. Mixed greens and some guacamole on the salad would help kick it up a notch. Weird color chips (bright green was one of them). I was a little scared of the chip color. I stuck to the chips that were "normal" colors. Salsa was not bad. Friendly service. My coworkers loved what they ordered. I might get what they get on my next visit (tilapia, burritos, etc) The prices were good (less than $10) for a lunch. I will keep the place on my team lunch rotation.

I finally dined in at Habaneros the other day with my girlfriend and our good friend. Our server, Anthony, was attentive and very sweet. Our food was delicious and our drinks were strong but not overpowering. I had the arroz con pollo and it tastes like perfection every time! The cheese sauce they drizzle on the chicken and rice is phenomenal. I orders the house margaritas 2 for 1 hey!! They were refreshing. We definitely enjoyed our visit.

The atmosphere is nice. Servers were polite and the food came out quickly. I ordered the soft chimichanga with ground beef. The food is mediocre. I would come back maybe but it won't be something I crave.

Stopped here with a couple of friends for an early dinner. The food was very good, although it wasn't the most memorable meal I've had. The service was prompt and friendly and the bill was easy on the pocket. We would go here again if in the area, but for me, it wasn't one of those places you make a special trip for.

I wouldn't call it "authentic" Mexican, however I would call it very good Tex-Mex. I didn't see soft tacos served with lime and cilantro, beef tongue, and other questionable items like I've seen in "authentic" mexican eateries. Habenero's menu is huge, and they do offer items that one wouldn't see in a typical Tex-Mex joint, but wouldn't be afraid to try. The service was pleasant and professional, and the prices are reasonable. It is worth a visit.

I was here with a few friends for lunch a couple of weeks back. Surprisingly, it was my first time here, even though this place has been around for a while and I've always known that it was there. I guess I just always preferred more "mom and pop" places ... and Tijuana Flats. It takes a lot for me to pass up a trip to Tijuana Flats, so that probably is the biggest reason as to why it took me so long to get to Habaneros. For lunch, I had a veggie combo meal, which consisted of a bean burrito, a cheese quesadilla and maybe a tostada (I'm not sure about that last one). Everything was pretty good, though I didn't have anything that really stood out. As Ernie C. wrote in his review, Habaneros offers items that you can get at just about any other similar place (i.e. Amigos in Altamonte Springs), so I don't think I'd come back here to get any one item. I would come back again at some point, though I could go elsewhere for a comparable meal, I think. Still, I found the food portions to be pretty generous and everything tasted just fine. The service was very good, which is why I am giving this four stars and not three. (I wish I could give it a 3.5, really.) We interacted with several employees, each of whom regularly checked in on us and thanked us for coming by. The restaurant didn't appear to be overly busy, so everyone we met with had the opportunity to check in on us and took advantage of that. Our food came out very quickly and our beverages were promptly refilled. If you enjoy having draft beers that you won't find at most restaurants, Habaneros may have some treats for you. When we were here, Negra Modelo and perhaps Dos Equis were available on tap. I hadn't had a Negra Modelo on the draft (not that I recall, anyway) prior to my trip here, so having one was pretty interesting and fun. There may be even more draft rarities here, though I don't recall the entire list.

Sometimes you just get crappy service. This was definitely one of those times. We waited about 10 minutes to order as other customers that arrived afterwards were getting their orders taken, and about equally as long for our drinks. And 1 of the things we ordered never came out even after reminding our server that we didn't receive it halfway through the meal. I think he had a party of about 8 or so that he was attending to but that's not really an excuse in my eyes to ignore someone who comes into your restaurant. My boyfriend ordered 2 tacos, rice and beans off the ala carte menu because we noticed it was a couple bucks cheaper for some reason to do that! Our server explained it was cheaper to get the combo even though the menu said differently. We shrugged and said "okay" and when we got the bill, we were correct and he was wrong. They should consider changing the menu. After waiting an incredibly long amount of time to get our check after asking even ANOTHER server for it, we just paid it without incident and took off. We ended up getting more help from other servers than we did our server out of frustration. For food that is pretty average and readily available from different locations, I'd say it's not really worth it. I loathe to write bad reviews from one off night but it was some of the worst service I've ever received.

Came here at 2pm on a Sunday so now I have been here when it's very slow and it was excellent. Got the bistec and shrimp with red sauce. The quality of the ribeye is excellent and the shrimp were grilled perfectly. Really love this place more with each visit. Great job!

I love their happy hour -- ridiculously cheap 28 oz beer and margaritas -- and the service is very quick. The food is solid Mexican. It's definitely not upscale or anything, but it's reasonably priced and I know I can go on my lunch break without having to fear I won't get back in time. The chips & salsa are the only thing that really isn't very good hear. The salsa is runny and soupy, but they give you tons of it!

A Delicious Mess. We were once again on the prowl for some authentic-ish Mexican food and remembered Habaneros. It had been a few years since our last visit and neither my wife nor I could figure out why. It simply fell off our radar. If first impressions were indeed everything, we would have run like hell. We walked into a packed lobby with no visible hostess or opportunity to give our name. All waiting patrons were simply lined up in the lobby. We shuffled in behind them (it was around 7 on a Friday night, understandable that they would be busy) and waited. Annnnnd waited. Every so often, one of the servers would ask "who's next" and seat the party that raised their hands. It was a good (far from good) 20 minutes before we were seated, which would have been a lot more tolerable had there been a more efficient system in place. Once we were seated, our server promptly took our drink orders and brought us the requisite chips and salsa. Chips were just meh, salsa was good but not great. His command of the English language was similar to my interest in womens' professional sports, which is to say casual at best. Still, we broke through the barrier much like Babe Zaharias did so many years ago and managed to procure a half-pitcher of the "homemade sangria." It was so sickeningly sweet that I expected the wall to bust open and a giant red talking pitcher to exclaim "ohhhh yeahhhhh!" Unfortunately, this didn't happen. Appetizers arrived quite quickly, given the crowded house. We got some queso fundido (exceptional) and a chicken quesadilla that was quite possibly the greatest quesadilla I've ever tasted. Our little dude's kids' meal (taco and burrito combo) arrived shortly after. He enjoyed it. There was a substantial wait for our entrees. Not sure if something got screwed up in the kitchen or if our order got parked behind a large party, but the wait was long enough to where my wife and I debated just getting our entrees to go as we were starting to fill up. Oops, here comes our food. She got the white enchiladas. You can tell they're white enchiladas because they carry themselves with a sense of entitlement and can't jump as high as their non-white enchilada friends. But seriously folks, they were good if not great. My little camarones de diablo (or something to that effect) were scorchingly magnificent. I attempted to tell our server that the kitchen could make them as hot as they pleased, and I'm not sure if I broke through the communication barrier or if they're normally that spicy...but regardless, those little bad boys set my world on fire. In a good way. All totaled, around 50 bucks for a feast of a meal with a half-pitcher of sangria. Not too shabby. This place actually made me hate Cantina Laredo even more, as a similar meal would have been at least twice (if not three times) as expensive there. Will we return? Probably in another 3-5 years when we once again realize that we haven't been to Habaneros in a while. Good food, but forgettable enough to warrant a 3-star rating rather than four.

I've driven past this place for years but never stopped in, so decided to try last night. Unfortunately, the menu is a carbon copy of any other Tex/Mex chain establishment. All menu items come with the obligatory rice and refried beans. I got carne asada, which was basically two small strips of razor thin meat overcooked and with no flavor. The wife got two tacos, which were simply watery meat and cheese inside a bland shell. Only basing my opinion on these two dishes, can't imagine that we will be back. On a positive note, and why I gave this a second star, the service was extremely fast and friendly.

Did take out tonight with the same dinners we usually get. I was impressed. The tin foil dishes were filled to the top with all the goodies you get in the sit down menu. The take out order only took 15 minutes to get ready even though they were packed tonight. I love this place.

was our "go to" now is out "stay away from" tex mex. poor quality beef fajitas could not chew; chimmee was so small hard too see amongst the beens.; service was so so at best from top notch. typical--was getting busy and started making smaller portions and poor quality and ther you go i guess if you want the drink menus they seem to get a rating for the drink specials in the evening but otherwise we are not happy campers

Went with friends after church last Sunday. We had a party of 6 with kids. The servers were attentive and handled our party well. Drinks, chips/salsa, food were all out fast and together. I had the carnitas dish...Carnitas A La Mexicana--all I can say is WOW...such flavor...and for me -- I had left overs for 2 more meals. Although I do not live in the area...I would go there next time I am in town.

I've driven by this place for YEARS and never stopped by. We had our favorite Mexican joint so we didn't shop around. However, when that favorite joint ended up on Channel 6 with a roach infestation... well, we decided it was time for a new favorite Mexican place. So we gave Habaneros a try. The building needs to be updated. Maybe that's why we never stopped- it doesn't look very inviting. Once inside the dark, drab decor don't help the place out at all. There is also that vague musty odor. We were seated in a comfortable booth and helped by a friendly, attentive server. We tried the tableside guacamole which was delicious. Nothing beats fresh guac, and you are able to customize it on the spot. Our meals were both very good. We agreed, we'd been missing out by not trying this place before. I must say though, that the fried ice cream was not good at all. I compare all fried ice cream back to the old Chi Chi's (remember that place?). This stuff did not seem flash fried at all but merely coated with some kind of cereal. It was a poor excuse for "fried" ice cream and shouldn't even be called such! Overall though a nice meal that we plan to repeat.

Habaneros is okay. The positive is that it's easy to get into and find seating for groups. Nothing special about the food. It's Mexican and every meal seems to be the same no matter what you order. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but I wouldn't avoid it, especially if I had a group and didn't want to wait in line somewhere else.

My second visit was good. I wanted to have something quick so I opted for the chicken quesadilla. It was very good. I went on Saturday and they have 2 for 1 house margaritas. The server was very attentive bringing us chips and salsa. Hands down the place is good.

The salsa and chips are on point! Our food came out hot and with lots of cheese! The margarita's were average but the decor was fabulous and authentic! The fajitas came out sizzling with a more than hardy portion. This is a average Mexican restaurant that I'm sure you've frequented some time some where just with a different name.

Usually this place is good but recently I came here and got horrible service. Asked the waitress 3x for a to go cup and never got it. I don't know if she was too busy or just delivers bad service... Might be my last time smh

My wife and I went there for my birthday last week and we went around 9pm. When we got in the hostess seemed very tired and was not very friendly and quickly sat us at a booth. When my wife asked if we could be seated someplace else that was not so noisy because it was near the bar she gave us an "are you kidding me look". And quickly brought us to another booth that was more quiet. The waiter was good though and always asked if everything was good. Our food came timely and it was good.

One star for dishonesty, four stars for food. Habaneros has a happy hour special, a "gold margarita", I ordered one yesterday. Our waiter went to the bar to prepare it and I happened to walk through the bar on the way to the bathroom. The waiter was preparing my drink with no-name, well tequila. Jose Quervo Gold has a distinctive color and bottle shape, this tequila did not. He noticed me looking and quickly put the bottle back in the bar well. This was my drink - there was nobody else in the bar and we were this waiter's only table. When he delivered my drink, I asked if the "gold margarita" meant "Jose Quervo Gold Tequila". He emphatically said "yes, it does, it's Jose Quervo Gold". I asked if he used Quervo gold in my drink and he emphatically said "yes, I did". Not true, he substituted a cheap imitation and charged me full price. Sorry Habaneros, you lose my business for deceit. The food was OK but I won't be ripped off.

A great place in Longwood/Apopka for mexican food! The margaritas are stiff, and they often have specials around happy hour time. They do a fantastic taco plate, with soft tortillas, and great little bits of steak and cilantro. Order a bowl of guac to go with the hot chips on the table, and you'll still have plenty left to put on your tacos by the time your food arrives!

We had a party of about 15 people for my birthday lunch recently. The food was excellent, the service was terrific. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the weekend lunch prices are a little high and when I asked if they did a "swirl" (frozen margarita swirled with sangria) what they brought me was all mixed up together, which doesn't taste the same. However, I cannot complain, we had a great time and everyone really enjoyed their meal!

Good food, friendly service. The nachos supreme are yummy!! Also, ask for the homemade Habanero sauce if you like it spicy!!

Great food, inexpensive, and fast friendly service. I love the chips and salsa they bring to the table while waiting on your order. But it never takes long to get the entrees.

This place is a sorry excuse for Mexican Food! First off the margaritas were nothing more than orange juice, with a shot of tequila and a salted rim glass. The salsa might as well been Pace Picante sauce. I ordered a Chile Relleno that wasn't even deep fried! It was just a green chile pepper with cheese on the top of it. The "Spanish" rice looked more like fried rice that had peas and carrots, the Tamale I ordered didn't even come in a corn husk, but instead in a plate smothered in red enchilada sauce and cheese, the refried beans might as well have come from a can. When I seriously questioned the meal our waitress called it Tex-Mex style. Hell I am Mexican, and I was born and raised in Texas, and this was by far the worst attempt at Mexican food. If the food wasn't bad enough so was the service. In the middle of our meal our waitress disappeared never to have returned from her break, yet we constantly had to remind here to bring a bottle of hot sauce before hand. I would not recommend this place to anyone! If you want real Mexican food let me cook you a real authentic meal!

As a Texan living in Florida, every Mexican restaurant is a possible Papasittos. Not this one. If you want a quick Mexican meal with little flavor beyond fat, then Habaneros will do you. The interior ambience is authentic Mexican, but the food is not. Also, the service was slow.

Christmas Eve at a Mexican joint sounds like a bad Renee Zellweger film in the making, but... ...well, it's my family. At least it was this year. We didn't feel like cooking. Also, we had congregated in Orlando. And you can't NOT have Christmas Eve dinner just because no one wants to cook and the only places open tend to be Mexican joints. Luckily -- a sibling recommended Habaneros, and they delivered. Ten of us were promptly seated and the obligatory review of the standard Tex-Mex menu ensued. It was exactly what I expected with some notable exceptions -- not every entree had the same bland combination of refried beans and rice. For someone who hates refried beans, it was a nice change of pace. Most everyone ordered various taco, burrito and enchilada combos. My wife chose a carne asada steak dish. I snagged the salsa verde steak. I asked beforehand if it was hot (my stomach wasn't 100% on board with the Christmas Eve menu). I was told it was hotter/spicier than the rojo steak, but I went with it anyway -- I love a good verde sauce. Indeed, it was hot -- a very dull but good heat. The portions were good, and the flavor was just right. Everyone seemed to enjoy the meal. It probably also helped that on Christmas Eve, it was... ...two for one margarita night. That's right -- half the table ordered margaritas, and, to our surprise, the other half got to drink for the price of the first half. It was a nice touch to good service and good food on a holiday night. The staff was prompt and attentive, and on a holiday night when they might've preferred to be with family, we were thankful they stayed open to serve us. Next Christmas Eve...sushi?

since moving to the orlando area this always the place the family wants to go... and i never have a problem joining them.... good food, friendly service, tasty margaritas, cold beer, great prices....... only 1 gripe i have is every single time i tell my server hey u can just save the sour cream i don't eat it.....yet every time here comes my side plate w/ lettuce ,pico, and guess what else?????? yup you guessed it a heaping pile of sour cream..im just trying to help you guys save money... dairy is expensive..

Authentic Mexican in Longwood. Sounds kinda like an oxymoron, but Habeneros is probably the best Mexican in the area. The salsa is out of this world, and makes you wish they would bottle it, it's also very plentiful here, as the waiters will always quickly bring you out more. And that's the thing about this place, everything is very prompt, the food comes quickly and refills are quick. All of the staples are there, from enchiladas to burritos, and I am particularly fond of the fajitas, it makes my mouth water just writing about it. The Mariachi Band is a fun surprise and a seriously added bonus, plus the margaritas pack a punch.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We've been to this particular Habaneros several times. Always good food and the two for one drinks don't hurt. As my wife likes to say, "It's not mushy food."

Best habenerro salsa ever love this place

I love their happy hour -- ridiculously cheap 28 oz beer and margaritas -- and the service is very quick. The food is solid Mexican. It's definitely not upscale or anything, but it's reasonably priced and I know I can go on my lunch break without having to fear I won't get back in time. The chips & salsa are the only thing that really isn't very good hear. The salsa is runny and soupy, but they give you tons of it!

Decent food. OK prices. Minus the all the flies we had to keep swatting away from our table. There are probably better Mexican Restaurants near by.
(3)Gus F.
Good food and reasonable prices. It's down the street from my house, so I've eaten here several times. Gets pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights.

I really enjoyed this place. Friendly staff. I had burritos w cheese, spinach and potato. It was delicious.

was our "go to" now is out "stay away from" tex mex. poor quality beef fajitas could not chew; chimmee was so small hard too see amongst the beens.; service was so so at best from top notch. typical--was getting busy and started making smaller portions and poor quality and ther you go i guess if you want the drink menus they seem to get a rating for the drink specials in the evening but otherwise we are not happy campers

(4)Beth F.
Good Tex Mex food. Great service with polite, handsome guys! Fresh, varied menu and good prices. I like my food spicier than they make it, tho. That's why only three stars. But I will be back!

Service is good, staff is friendly, salsa is perfect and food very good. Cannot wait to try tje mix margarita and Corona. So will definitely come back

(3)Shilley T.
My second visit was good. I wanted to have something quick so I opted for the chicken quesadilla. It was very good. I went on Saturday and they have 2 for 1 house margaritas. The server was very attentive bringing us chips and salsa. Hands down the place is good.
(3)Sarah G.

(2)Eric D.

We love Habaneros We have been coming here since 2004 and they treat you like family. Food is always good and they have the best Margaritas in town!
(5)C. R.
Tried it a while back for lunch. Party of 4. Prices were ok bit the food was just ok...
(2)Tiffany Y.
We frequent Habaneros... either with the family or as a date night... atlas once a week! It's definitely our "go to" mexican restaurant! Our personal favorites are the table side guacamole and the house margaritas! Enjoy!
(5)Jeffrey F.
The margaritas are the best around. My wife & I like the lunch specials & the service we've received has always been excellent.
(5)Paula A.
Service is terrible tonight. Two waiters for the whole restaurant. The guy just disappeared. The girl tried to pick up the slack. The food is good. Have had better. Salsa was good it eas
(2)Derek G.
Maybe I should give it another shot. The food was just okay. The service was horrible and worst of all the salsa was 100 lacking. I mean Pace has better salsa.
(2)Sheila K.
Fajitas for two are delish! Ask for the habaneros sauce if you want to kick up the heat. Service was friendly but extremely slow.
(4)Allison M.
(4)Christina C.
(4)Jenise C.
Good food, friendly service. The nachos supreme are yummy!! Also, ask for the homemade Habanero sauce if you like it spicy!!
(4)Loren K.
Great food, inexpensive, and fast friendly service. I love the chips and salsa they bring to the table while waiting on your order. But it never takes long to get the entrees.
(5)Wendy R.

Best value, best food! Yummy!!!!
(5)DrDan Q.
The food is consistently very good....and the service is fast. A great combination. The best overall Tex-Mex in the area IMO....
(4)Elizabeth B.
As a Texan living in Florida, every Mexican restaurant is a possible Papasittos. Not this one. If you want a quick Mexican meal with little flavor beyond fat, then Habaneros will do you. The interior ambience is authentic Mexican, but the food is not. Also, the service was slow.

Whenever I am in Orlando, I make sure I visit this place. I love their Monster Margaritas. The place is always busy, but not too busy to find a table. Thursday they have a Mariachi band. The staff is very friendly, always with a smile.

(4)Anna M.
Great authentic mexican food at great prices. Service is always good and friendly. You won't be disappointed with the margaritas either!
(4)Michael C.
