Delish! Pregnancy craving heaven! Get the 'bayou' it's like a cheesecake pecan bar... I get sweets here before showing up to any dinner at someone's house. Always a hit.

Visited four rivers for coffee and cupcakes to celebrate finishing of an exam. They had a small but good collection of cakes and other sweets. Lemon cake was a little too oily and sugary. But I guess it has to be that extra. They serve Peet's coffee, which has become my new fav for sometime now! I kinda like the smokey aftertaste it leaves. Enjoyed our visit. Will go again.

Well, I checked off the BBQ aspect of 4 Rivers Smokehouse in Winter Park, FL. But then, I noticed they had a separate bakery, The Sweet Shop, and, well...duh, I had to check that out. It's a common habit, we eat with our eyes first. These desserts were pretty eye catching with their large, grand size and their perfectly confected baked goods. They offer cupcakes, cakes, ice cream and brownie bars, to name their most prominent items. They also have some really novel and unique items such as their Cupcake Milkshakes (your choice of a cupcake dropped into a milkshake and blended up into a shake that is sure to bring all the boys to the yard...Kelis...) and their Mountain Dew Dorito Cupcake (novel, yes, but sorry, I wasn't too interested in eating one). I certainly have eyes a bit bigger than my stomach, and had to get a few things to try. Their desserts are not for the weak, each one is large and hefty. I first had their Double Chocolate Cookie with nuts. So, if you haven't worked out in a little while, fear not because this cookie can double as a weight for arm curls, weighing in at around 1lb. It's huge, but the chocolate flavor and sweetness are actually more on the mild side, allowing you to make your way through more of it. It's also a little fudgy on the inside, almost like a brownie. Next, I got their Kryptonite Brownie (pecans and caramel), another huge portion. The brownie was rich, moist (I hate that word) but also not overly sweet either, allowing the sweetness and creaminess of the caramel to take that spotlight, and adding the pecans for a nice nuttiness and crunch. I think Superman would have been pretty happy eating this one. Last, I got their Texas Bourbon Pecan Bar, which, was hands down, my favorite. The bourbon absolutely comes through, giving it a really rich, warm flavor. And who doesn't love the taste of a little booze in a delicious treat? The whole pecans were coated in a crisp, sugar crumble coating, giving the bar a sandwich effect of crunch from the pecans and the bottom crust, and the contrast of the creamy, oozy boozy center.

While the BBQ side of the restaurant is one of the best you will find in the whole Central Florida area, the sweet shop is a little more hit or miss. Some desserts like their cupcakes are a bit bland at times but their Blondie brownie and Texas Bourbon Pecan Bar are two of my favorite items around.

Barbecue and bakeries typically don't go hand-in-hand, but 4Rivers has mastered both tastes. It's impossible to pick a favorite sweet treat here, but the Blondies and Red Velvet Cupcakes are worth the indulgence. The Sweet Shop is tucked behind the main restaurant area and the display and presentation makes these treats impossible to resist!

This review is completely for their delicious homemade ice cream. The ice cream case is tucked over to the side of the sweet shop, so it's easy to miss, and it's less eye-catching than the brightly-colored cupcakes and giant slices of cake in the bakery area. BUT you should not miss it! We had two flavors today, and they were both utterly fantastic. Airplane Cookie tastes exactly like those delicious Biscoff cookies you get on a flight, or, in my case, on the Eurostar train from Paris to London. Creamy, sweet, a tiny bit crunchy from the crushed cookies, and comes with a bonus flood of travel memories. The second flavor was a Bourbon Coffee flavor with chocolate chips in it (I can't remember the exact name but it has the words Bourbon and Buzz Buzz in it, so, hello, you know you can't go wrong). It was SO tasty. The texture was perfect. Melts quickly in the Florida September heat, but worth every bite and sip. They also do this thing called a drop-in shake where you choose a cupcake and they mix it with ice cream. But, seriously, the ice cream can stand alone without any upstart, whippersnapper cupcake having to help it along. Mmmmm. Ice cream.

The pastries are stale and hard, not sure how long they try to keep their stuff on the display shelves. The staff is not very friendly and gave major attitude when I didn't tip her for basically "doing her job" by ringing up my purchase. Pretty much can get better tasting desserts and service at Publix.

It's definitely a feast for the eyes when you walk in. You see all these very elaborate cupcakes and they are over sized. But as it has been previously reported, the cupcakes are not actually that much better than supermarket. I would even venture to say they are worse. We did not finish them and took them home, and then still did not eat them. The cookies are ok. And we did not try the ice cream.

I had the same experience as others after buying several slices of cake to take home. We found the cake to be stale so I gave them another try and when I told them i was sold stale cake they seem not to care. My next purchase of cake was fine. So I figure it was just a fluke until I was sold stale cake again. I will no longer purchase cake from them.

Not a good coffee shop. Sure, they have an espresso machine but when I asked for an iced Americano the girl looked at me lost confused, looked back at the menu, looked back at me and went "Uuuh..." to which I asked for just a large coffee. She didn't ask me what kind I wanted when they clearly had a light, dark, and decaf, but instead said that she gave me the freshest brewed and said "they all taste the same." o_O child please. I've been working in coffee for 6, almost 7 years now. Not all coffee is the same. So how does the coffee taste? Like burnt toast. As far as the food goes, I've got no idea. I just wanted anything other than Starbucks.

the 4 River Sweet Shop is definitely a feast for the eyes. As soon as you walk in the door you are immediately drawn to the case full of huge cakes and the display of equally large cupcakes, cookies, and whoopie pies. And to me, the ability to see them actually baking and working on the sweets is a draw as well. Unfortunately, things fall a little short after that. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy their cupcakes, but they aren't the best cupcakes I've ever had. My favorite is the cookies and cream one. Chocolate cake with an oreo inside and cookies and cream frosting. It is just all around delish. But the two i've tried since then, the peanut butter cup cupcake and the orange cream cupcake, didn't impress me. I loved the peanut butter/chocolate frosting, but thought that cake was just so-so. I enjoyed the tanginess of the orange cream frosting, but the cake was blah and I didn't like that it was COVERED in white chocolate chips. They seem to have the frosting down pat, but are still working on the cake part. I'm not sure if its due to the mass amount of cakes and cupcakes they make, or if they aren't getting translated well from cake to cupcake. I will continue to try their sweets when I'm there, but at this time I wouldn't go out of my way to get something from there.

Wow!!! Love the atmosphere. Not too sure if I like the benches. Coffee and sweets are great!!!

I love my sweets, and the oreo cupcake was DELISH! Attentive, friendly staff, and not even close to the wait in line as it is at their restaurant. Wish I could have tried everything, definitely a must-return, and soon! A great finish after eating their delicious BBQ!!

Let's be honest. The baked good here are not much better than a supermarket bakery cupcake. They look colorful and pretty, but they are not delicious at all. If you want a dessert, get some ice cream or a milkshake. The cupcakes basically suck. If you want a good cupcake, go to Sweet! by Good Golly Miss Holly. Try that and then come back to eat one of these dry cupcakes with spackle for frosting and...well, you'll see why they just don't compare at all. Fortunately, there's a GREAT BBQ stand a few feet away. Go have some delicious smoked meat and forget the cupcakes here.

After picking up carry out from 4Rivers proper, we popped over to the Sweet Shop to grab desserts to take home for our kids. We selected four different cupcakes, Red Velvet, Carrot, Chocolate, and Potato Chip and Coca Cola. The desserts were very stale, and lacked any quality beyond a from the box creation. My kids who will eat any dessert ended up throwing away 75% of their treats. We will not be returning for the desserts any time soon.

Tried a slice of the creamsicle cake. The cake portion was overly dry and dense, very large crumb and air pockets. The orange frosting was made with granulated sugar, rather than powdered/confectioners sugar. So every bite I took had that gritty/sandy feel, as the sugar granules were not dissolved. By far the worst piece of cake I have had in a long time. I feel they are probably using the same batter for their cakes and cupcakes, which is not the way it should be. Cupcakes need to be denser to hold up to being eaten by hand. Cakes need to be lighter and fluffier, as they are eaten with a fork. The price was reasonable at $4.75, but the quality was dismal. I might give them another try for the ice cream, but I won't be buying any baked goods.

I wanted to give it 4.5 stars but... This place is really good, though I am skewed from my time living in Texas. It earns the full 5 stars in my book because it beats any other Florida BBQ and watching the success of a local business become so successful so fast is wonderful and I give it my support! By the way, get the burnt ends, you will not regret it!

Had the pecan pie cupcake -- yummy is all I can say! Also liked the Cheerwine cupcake. Am going to try one of their muffins next time I'm in.
