Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Epic fail this visit. Came again to eat at the bar. Bar was filled with 12 guests and 2 tables. The poor bartender was overwelmed and had little help. He was also making the drinks for the rest of the busy restaurant. We left after 30 minutes having not even ordered yet. Got waters and menus but no service

AMAZING service and food! We were staying at the Long Boat Key Resort and the concierge suggested this place for dinner. We sat outside for the view - had wonderful bruschetta for an appetizer - our main dishes were delectable and you could tell they were fresh and the pasta was homemade - and all of the waiter servers were extremely friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning on my next vacation!

Mediocre. Are we eating at a private club or a hotel restaurant-very difficult to tell the difference. You must be a resort guest or a club member but found the food to be below the fare at typical full service hotels such as Marriott or Sheraton. Does not feel like a club because the service was so indifferent. I think the Longboat Key Club needs to decide what they want to be when they grow up-a membership club or a destination resort.

Good food and good service. Old money restaurant. Live music with nice bar. Menu had lot to choose from.

I am in from out of town visiting my folks. I wanted to take them out for a nice dinner on my final evening here, so we went to Portofinos... The views and outside area are great. I loved the homemade fresh rolls that started our evening out. However, the service we had was terrible and everything took a long time. Lobster bisque is terrible, it had no substance. It was like a broth, very watery. I ate less than half and even told the waitress I didn't care for it because it was watery. Still cost me $7... they offer a salad add on to entree for $3, they should consider that for soup too. It can be a cup rather than a bowl. Food was average(for all of us, no ones meal stood out as anything special). I would probably only go back to drink some beers, order apps, and listen to live music when its offered. It will be awhile before I even given it a chance for that.

Wait staff is nice, sunset is nice, food is ok but that's it. Long long waits and and an over worked staff. Don't come here if you're hungry.

Between the excellent staff, live music, and excellent food, I will be returning to the marina & Portofino's very soon. For a high end restaurant, you are paying for quality food and service.

The food was delicious but for some reason did not sit well with me. I found it difficult to conversate due to the loud music being played inside; it would have been better to sit outside if it wasn't so hot. There was a nice view of the marina.

You might think that reserving an outside table well in advance, and then confirming that table yet again might insure you'd actually have an outside table awaiting you when you arrived at the restaurant. Naïve you! Instead, the hostess will shrug her shoulders and offer you the chance to dine indoors or go elsewhere. But that's not the only thing they do differently. In a hat tip to France their waiters are paid by the hour, and the restaurant adds a 20% "administration fee" for good measure. This insures that the service can suck ass sans repercussions just like in France! And suck ass it does, with the waiter vanishing into the environment like a sniper with awesome camouflage. There was not a single menu item that stood out for our party of six. Take that fact, couple it with the crap service and set it all in a distractingly loud venue - and you have a lousy restaurant, the inside of which I won't be seeing again in this lifetime.

All of our food was excellent! 6 of us were here for dinner and it was fabulous. My husband had the gnocchi and I had a pizza.
