Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Worse than bad. Salsa is runny and unspicy. Food is bland. Margaritas lack flavor. Disappointment.

We keep coming back, had enchilada with ground beef and red sauce-she loved it! I had pork quesadillas which had tons of flavor! You gotta try the Choriqueso, great appetizer and hard to find in other restaurants in the area. Ceviche is yummy also. Always very friendly service and the chef is always checking through the window to see if we are satisfied-thumbs up all around. We'll be back soon!

We have been here at least five times and it is one of our favorites. The staff is personable and pleasant . The food is delicious and obviously made from scratch. My favorite is the Chimichanga but everything is amazing!

I have tried this place a couple of times. Food seems ok but lacks some flavor and service is not the best. Chips could definitely use an upgrade

Me and my dad gave this place a shot in a Sunday afternoon. We were scared because it had it's share of bad reviews. It is now on our favorites list. Everything we tried was wonderful and had it's own authentic taste. I loved the signature burrito, the La Valentine burrito. Dad had the carnitas and he liked those. We shared the nachos, also very good. Fresh teas to go and the service was polite and fast. Enjoyed a live mariachi band during the afternoon, very nice atmosphere.

They say they deliver, but every time I try, they aren't delivering on that day. As to their food, the Carnitas are pretty good, but overall it is all pretty generic food. Nothing really stands out.

They have really good food. Their salsa could use some work that goes with the chips (both complimentary). Their portions are very sharable but I don't! I want leftovers!! LOL Their carnitas are so delicious and addicting. You can order beer or wine as well. I must go again soon. I usually go here for lunch or early dinner.

Summary Pros: Entertainment Unlimited complimentary chips and salsa Clean Cons: Food quality just over cafeteria food High prices Small portions It only makes sense to come in here for Friday night karaoke, and Sunday mariachi bands. Otherwise, you're paying premium price for food that is only a small notch above cafeteria food. My wife ordered the chimichanga without Pico. Of course, it arrived with Pico. The food in general had an unfortunate blandness to it. The rice was overcooked. Tried the choriqueso, which is too high priced for what you get. Maybe if they threw in 1-2 more tortillas, it might begin to be worth it. Couldn't order desert if I was going to be paying almost $50 for the (lack of) quality of food that we already got. Service was ok, nothing special, no personality. She was more interested in chatting it up with other employees than with customers. But I recognize some people prefer that, so it doesn't bug me too much - just observing and reporting. The chips and salsa were ok, and they were complimentary and unlimited so that's good. The place was pretty clean too. The guacamole didn't have much of a avocado taste, was too creamy tasting for me but wasn't bad. Some like that, I just don't prefer it. While there were some good qualities, I truly had a 2 star experience, but I have to give it another star for the entertainment possibilities. It would make good party food, but nothing beyond that. I would rather go an extra 5 minutes down the road to Bajio for a much better and cheaper meal. Maybe I'll come again, but it doesn't seem likely.

Extremely lacking in decor and help, but was overall clean. There were only two waitresses working the front, and an overworked cook with a dishwasher in the back. They were running their butts off the entire time. The waitresses split their attention between seating customers, the phone, bar tending, bussing tables, bringing food... they did it all. It took way too long to get menus and drinks once seated at a dirty table. Food took too long to come out, which I expected from being short staffed. The waitress forgot my tortillas, and I was forced to eat directly from the searing hot iron planchette, as she wasn't back to check on us for a while. The complimentary salsa was watery and bland. It was served in a tiny plastic cup with a large basket of chips. The pico de gallo was very tasty however. I would have preferred that to be served with the chips! Drinks ran dry a few times. I almost went to the soda machine myself to refill. Why not? It's right there by the front door! Who set this place up? Stevie Wonder? The food was good and quite tasty. Chicken was tender, and there was enough for leftover lunch the next day. The waitress was quite nice and apologetic, as she knew what needed done, and what she only had time to do. There's really nothing here that would make me want to come back again.

There aren't too many good and reasonably priced Mexican restaurants in Ft Myers. We Finally tried La Valentina and we were not disappointed. Great food, good service for the most part. Only had one server but the place wasn't too busy. I'll definitely be going back soon!

Called to have food delivered because they advertise delivery service and the employee that answered the phone said, "Oh...we don't have anyone with a car"...yikes! Not a good way to do business, folks!

Excellent authentic Mexican food. Have had dinner there 3 times. Service is great and prices are very reasonable

Started going here in June 2013. The tacos are really excellent and everything is cooked fresh. Dining room is basic but clean and new. The chips and salsa are so-so with thick, hard flour tortilla chips and salsa that is a little thin. The Gringos Tacos are excellent, among the best I've ever had. They also serve a rice milk drink which definitely worth trying on a hot day. Prices are reasonable and staff has been good especially the owner.

Overpriced and disgusting. 12$ for lunch, really? The place more of a carryout/pizza place. I don't see this place surviving much longer..

This is far from Mexican food. I grew up 3 hrs from Mexico and have eaten Mexican food my whole life. The enchiladas were smashed tortillas with cheese and tomato sauce on top, topped with a lot of lettuce. Disqusting. My husband's steak burito tasted like their grill hasn't been cleaned, ever. Needless to say we will never go back. Germans probably cook better Mexican food than this. Horrible, doesn't even deserve 1 star!

We were greeted and sat right away, which was the fastest part of our service. Ordering took over 20 minutes. Luckily there was an entertaining ( but very loud!) mariachi band to pass the time! Definitely not a place for a quick lunch on sunday. Tables that sat after us got served and got their food BEFORE us. We waited 30 total for our food and never got it-so then asked for it to go. The waitress then got a tad annoyed when I did ask for togo saying she would have to see if possible... really? Put it in a box vs a plate. Either way it is going in a box. And then they served on a plate anyways 8 minutes later. The manager did come up and ask what was wrong and did highly apologize saying it was their busiest day. And offered a free margarita while we were leaving ( a to go margarita? Whattt?) Where we politely declined. Food presentation was basic.
