I've lived in Chicago pretty much all of my life, and we do have some great restaurants. GQ magazine pronounced Chicago the #1 restaurant city in the country several years ago. But we just don't have a great Jewish deli. We used to, but they're pretty much gone. We've got Manny's, a terrific cafeteria style deli that cures its own meats, has entertaining people serving the food from behind the counter, and a lot of really good deli food. But with no table service, an out of the way location, and lousy parking, it's not an overall great experience. So when I find a real, honest to goodness Jewish deli like Pastrami Club, that serves up perfectly seasoned and textured pastrami, tongue, great "new" pickles, perfectly seasoned and textured potato salad and cole slaw, crisp and tasty potato latke, and where I can wash it all down with a Dr. Brown's Diet Black Cherry, I'm in heaven all the way. Great service from Sandy (who does not, by the way, partake of that which she serves so competently), easy parking, friendly owner and employees - it just all made for an experience that I cannot duplicate in Chicago. Is it better than Ben's Kosher deli in Boca, which I also recently had the pleasure of checking out? Hard to say. I haven't reviewed Ben's yet, but each beats the other on a couple of items, and I personally would call it a coin toss. I did appreciate being able to get sour cream for that outstanding potato latke at PC, something not available under the dietary laws observed at Ben's. Based on my personal observations, and from what I've been reading lately, the old style Jewish deli is a dying breed. So when I find a really good deli like this one, I'm almost always going to go that 5th star (as I will with Ben's when I review it). And, I have to say, I cannot for the life of me figure out why PC has so few reviews, notwithstanding its solid 4 star average. Does it match my memories of Rascal House, or 2nd Ave deli, or Carnegie? Probably not quite. But that's exactly why restaurants like PC deserve that 5th star - to keep them busy, and to keep them striving to maintain a kind of cuisine that's really hard to come by any more. It took me a good half hour of annoying traffic to get here, but you know what? It was worth it. And I'm going to return more than a few more times while I'm down for the winter.

Have been here twice, both times with (fairly) large groups. Very pleased with both food and service The waitresses are very plesant and take good care of you. I love the way they greet you with a tasty plate of pickles I love the Reuben sandwich here....meat piled high, really tasty. The corned beef was moist and juicy. They gave me extra thousand island on the side, nicely presented in containers which was nice change. The cole slaw is also good. Everyone is friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable. Some delis are too crowded and "frantic", the Pastrami Club makes you feel welcome and you can actually enjoy the food thanks to the efficient service.

Very impressed with the pastrami club. Had my first visit today. Mid afternoon. Place was slow but had great quick service. Had the pastrami and corn beef sandwich with tasty steak fries. Really enjoyed it. You are served pickles when you arrive. There appears to be two varieties. Did not know the difference. What of been kind of cool to have been told the difference. Maybe it is assumed people know. Used 10% off code from Yelp since it was my first visit and I checked in. Waitress was very accepting of that. She actually went on to tell me that there was a Groupon available. I told her I was aware and had purchased it already. She then shared there was a restaurant.com option. Overall very good experience. Not a big fan of that part of University Drive and may have passed it but I have seen their coupons on Groupon several times. So instead of going to a competitor I decided to try it out. Then I realized my Groupon was for two people. I was by myself but still went and I am glad I did. I will be back to use my Groupon in the future. I believe my sandwich had value. Was charged $.50 extra for changing the bread type. Probably the only negative for me. If you like pastrami and corn beef give it a shot!

I love visiting the Pastrami club when visiting the mother in law. I don't know why but we just don't have the rooted Jewish deli's in N.California. I loved the service and the guys handling the food are awesome to talk to. I always love meeting the locals there. This visit had the pickled herring, matzo ball soup and a pastrami sandwich with potato salad. The mother in law had a chicken sandwich and my hubby turkey. The food is always spot on but the hospitality and to chat with others is priceless. This place is a gem.

Really going downhill. Management doesn't seem to care. Nobody cares. Cashier is unfriendly to put it mildly. The food is passable and the long employed waitresses are doing a good job, but the place is really depressing under current management. It's hot too as the air conditioning isn't working properly. Best bet is to avoid this place unless it is sold to someone who knows how to run a restaurant. Sad, but true.

A tasty piece of my childhood, I fondly remember meeting many times here with my grandparents, for delicious sandwiches and a charming atmosphere. Being a pescatarian now, I can only enjoy their fantastic roast beef, corned beef, and pastrami, in memory. That being said, I encourage all meat-eaters to come & enjoy the aforementioned sandwiches ( though avoiding the fries is probably for the best)

It's tough to find good Jewish deli in South Florida, but the Pastrami Club is pretty authentic. They actually had me at the pickles. Yes, I love pickles, but not the kind you can buy in a jar in Publix. These complimentary half sour and sour pickles were genuine New York style pickles and they were delicious! Luckily, Husband despises pickles sonI ate them all! Here for Sunday brunch, Husband had a Brisket Melt. The brisket was lean but soft, tender, and flavorful. I almost drooled at his side of potato pancake. He told me it tasted as delicious as it looked. I did not dare have a bite or else I would have had to order one. Trying to eat on the healthier side, I ordered an Egg White Omelet with Fresh Carved Turkey. The turkey was a bit dry, as fresh carved turkey sometimes is, but it was a nice switch from a veggie omelet. Don't go to the Pastrami Club for the ambiance. It is a bit of a hole in the wall. Service was pleasant and fast. There was also a 10% Yelp check in discount. It was honored with a smile (which was nice since there was a tip stating they were not honoring this deal). I'm sure we will be return and I look forward to trying their other items. Besides, sometimes it's nice being the youngest person in the restaurant!

This should be 4 1/2 stars. At first, i had mixed feeling coming here after reading the most current reviews, but i had a certificate that was expiring. The service was really good. From the cashier/hostess, Sheila, who was very helpful and friendly, the waitress was good, the bus person was really nice and efficient, to the owner who chipped in when it got busy. Everyone we came across was nice. But Sheila was exceptional. Food: I had a bowl of split peas soup, actually better than I expected. It was pretty good My friend and i got different sandwiches so we could share and compare. My friend ordered a "good ol' BLTT," which came with slices of off-the-frame turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickels, and fries. and I ordered a L'Chiam that is a triple decker with pastrami and corn beef (Rye bread) with fries and coleslaw. The BLTT was good, but as a meat person, I preferred the L'Chiam. My friend who doesn't eat a lot of beef really liked her BLTT. The meats were flavorful, especially the corn beef and pastrami and everything was fresh, including the bread and vegetables. I also liked the plate of pickles served as we waited for our food. Both my friend and I said that we will be back. We had a great experience.

The best pastrami in Florida. The pastrami club is the closest and most flavorful pastrami that you will find outside of New York City. The pastrami club is a New York Style Deli, it is very difficult to find good eats like this outside of NYC. I found this gem through Yelp and it did not disappoint, the pastrami and corn beef is to die for. You get complimentary pickles and coleslaw with every meal. I ordered the corn beef and pastrami combo sandwich, this is classic New York City Jewish deli food. Love it. You can order the sandwich by itself or the platter which comes with a choice of steak fries or 1 potato pancake. Make sure to ask for Thousand island dressing. They are very good and very inexpensive, did i mention authentic too.

Strip mall location with not much ambience but very good food and very good service. Meats are tasty, decent size portions, very good potato salad. Servers are patient, knowledgable and they get it right.

My friend was craving a Rueben sandwich and he chose The Pastrami Club after checking Yelp. I was not disappointed in the quaint deli. When you sit at your table, you are given a plate of lightly pickled cucumbers, which was a nice palette cleanser to snack on while I looked over the extensive menu. I got a lunch special, which was a choice of soup and a roll with my choice of meat. I ordered the matzo ball soup and roast beef with provolone. The roast beef was a bit dry for my taste, but the soup was delicious. My boyfriend had the lentil soup and turkey on a roll. He loved his sandwich, and I absolutely LOVED the lentil soup. I ended up eating most of his soup as well. It was tasty, filling, and warming to the soul. There is a great family-friendly atmosphere at the Pastrami Club. They have nice service and televisions up so you can watch the game while you eat. I would definite return for another bowl of soup soon.

My sister and I went to the Pastrami Club where we've gone many times before.. When we got there it wasn't very crowded and we noticed there were new menus. Come to find out it was bought by new owners back in October. We weren't sure if we should stay or not since there were so little people. Could this be an indication that the food wasn't so great anymore?? We decided to stay.. We ordered bagels & lox which were delicious. My sister ate have of the plate of pickles by the time the food came out. Servings are large.. Servers were very friendly and accommodating. Seems a lot more calmer then it used to be. The only issue was that the baker didn't show up that day so they were short on bagels and different types of bread. No biggie, we ate what they had and it was delicious. Dessert was awesome.. had a black & white cookie that tasted the ones we used to get in New York! Will go back again and try other things on the menu. Btw, the matzo ball soup is to die for!

I have been eating here since 1990 and NEVER again. I am from Brooklyn where I worked as a busboy for 5 years for Appy's on Ralph Avenue. I love deli food and I can not believe what happened to this place. I ordered a nice roast beef sandwich. What came out was a dried out meet that resembled a pot roast. The waiter took it back and got turkey off the frame instead. I think it was off the frame of his bed because it was old and dried out. No way was this a fresh turkey. The owner came over and wouldn't even take it off the check. He clearly does not care how he runs a business nor does he care a bit about his customers. What used to be a good place to eat is now an AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

First visit to this place. Not very impressed. The restaurant / deli appeared dirty and dingy. Needs a good cleaning and facelift. Tried to order an Open Faced Brisket Sandwich, they didn't have any Brisket. Decided on the Pastrami Sandwich with Macaroni Salad and Steak Fries. Sandwich and Macaroni Salad were outstanding. Can't say that about the fries. Came out overlooked and hard as rocks. Waitress was nice and prompt. She was on top of her game. Cashier not so much. She sat at a corner table appeared to be annoyed every time someone wanted to pay. I also bought some candy they had on display. She took her sweet time getting it and bagging it up. By this time the line to pay was 5 deep. People started to get impatient. Overall I gave it a 3 star. Waitress, sandwich, and salad were great. Up in the air if I'll be back. Too Jays isn't that far down the road.

A little disappointed. Food was good but what ruined the experience was the embarrassment I felt when the cashier refused to honor the Yelp 10% coupon for The Pastrami Club - she said "I don't do Yelp...". At the end she gave me 10% off but the whole attitude totally ruined what otherwise was a nice meal.

Very good food and was impressed with the deli atmosphere. However I was disappointed last night when I tried to go here and they have new summer hours that were not posted on yelp when I look for place to eat. In all service was sufficient and the food was excellent would certainly go back there in the near future when I'm back in the area.

We had lunch here today and enjoyed it. Good food and friendly service. The extra lean pastrami was possibly the best we have ever had. Definitely get it. That alone would be a 5 star menu item. The matzo ball soup was ok, I wouldn't order again. The kasha was good, also. I would go back if in the area and would get lots of pastrami. Note: checking in on Yelp gives you 10% off your order. Enjoy!

Of course the food is great .... Jewish soul food. Starting from the plate of pickles to the potato knish and turkey pastrami. The waiter was very friendly , helpful and patient. Cashier not so much. My only real disappointment us that I did not also sample the blintzes and matzah ball soup ..... Next time

OMG- this place is as good or better than any Deli in NYC and I ought to know as i have been living in New York for a looooong time and i just took my mom here for lunch today . The service was great ! The cole slaw and pickles were fresh and great and the Turkey and bacon sandwich I had was huge and the meat was delicious - the fries were good and my moms pastrami was lean and the best we ever had!!! The new owner ( of 9 weeks ) is a doll and totally wants to make every meal served there the best- they even sell old style penny candy up front - which makes for a sweet after dinner treat!

Nothing short of the best pastrami you can get! There are no dues or locker room, no golf course nor putting green, yet it is Club enough for me, any day! I wrote the above 2 years ago & apparently forgot to post. No worries. Visiting Mom in Fl for her 95th Bday today (go Mom!), and just got back from taking her to the Club. They still rule -- pastrami to die for for me and a tuna sandwich good enough for Mom to take the 2nd half home. Mark Twain said he would never join a club that would have him. Evidently no one hipped him to the Pastrami Club. His loss. Rock on Pastrami Club!

Today I had a really good Ruben and a New York knish the the meat was very lean with lots of flavor and the bread was grilled nicely. I had a nice time chatting with the owner he is quite freindly and the service was good too.

Stopped here for lunch on the advice of Yelp and was not at all disappointed. Love Jewish deli food, but cannot get it where we live in Virginia!! I had the matzo ball soup and a corn beef sandwich. My husband had a tongue sandwich. Everything was fresh and delicious. There was potato salad and coke slaw that came with the sandwiches and my husband also ordered a potato knish. I would have given five stars, but the waitress didn't bring the kasha varnishkas (sp?) that I ordered and she brought my husband's sandwich hot even though he ordered cold meat, but all in all everything was delicious and I would definitely return here if I am ever back in this area!!

I went to pastrami club this evening and was very disappointed. It was nothing like the reviews would indicate. The food was very poor, with side orders thatseems to have just been thawed out. The pastrami was very substandard, and the only part of the meal that was good was the matzoh ball soup. The servers were very friendly but not very confident and generally seems confused about the service and the menu. The restaurant itself fit not look very clean. I noticed an aroma of Dirt and disinfectants as soon as I walked in. It is a shame that there are so few decent delicatessens in South Florida.

Interesting look - just like NYC. It was pretty empty when we arrived. Seated quickly, pickles came right away. They were ok but I wasn't thrilled. We both ordered the lunch special. The matzo ball soup came quickly along with the potato salad and cole slaw. I liked that it had noodles - many don't. But it was ok, I've had worse and I've had better. Entrees shortly thereafter. Both sandwiches were pretty good. I liked the roast beef on mine - lots of it, tasted freshly done and definitely homemade. Even though the menu contradicts itself - it advertises all the meats from Hebrew National while also stating that "all meats made on premises". Not sure what to believe - a little clarity might be in order. Also, not to nitpick too much (pet peeve). but there are a few spelling errors in the menu and the signs - tilapia (tialpia?) is one I remember. MH's chicken salad was good. I tasted it, and I am someone who doesn't really like rye bread, but this one was enough to make me change my mind! However, the potato salad (which is something I love to indulge in occasionally) was the worst I can ever remember having. It had a pink tinge, should have been a clue, but it was really sweet. Must have had ketchup in it. But it's a personal preference - I don't think potato salad should ever be sweet and up till now I never had one that was. Especially to this extent. I also used a groupon with a value of $20, although our bill came to $18. I was short on ones so asked if I could put the remaining $2 towards the tip, to which I got an abrupt NO. Ok no problem. Scraped it together. Went back to wait for MH (who had stepped away) thinking he might not be done with his food. plus I wanted to finish the water. But lo and behold the table was already cleared and reset. Very efficient. But also not particularly friendly. On the drive home I remembered that the special was also supposed to come with a drink. I had forgotten about it, but the server didn't remind me either. All in all, if it weren't for the groupon I wouldn't have gone, and without it I could not see paying the [relatively] high prices. It was fine, but there are several cheaper, better alternatives closer to me.

Get the L'Chaim which is 5oz of pastrami & 5oz of corned beef layered between 3 slices of Jewish rye, you will say "Oooh-vah" for a total of 10oz of delish kosher deli meat smother it with Russian dressing & add on the potato pancake w/ apple sauce. My new go to NY deli place. -1 star..the pickles served when you first sit down are awful. They are limp, old, & tasteless as well as unappetizing looking sitting there on the plastic plate, one of your reviews from 2010 says essentially the same thing, hint HINT to the owners, bring back the stainless steel pickle service with the pickled tomatoes, assorted kosher pickles, & "health salad" like Wolfie's, Pumpernik's, & Rascal House pleez......

The sandwich was amazingly good. I had the cornbeef and pastrami with provolone. Very very yummy. Reminded me of a place my father used to get a sandwich for me in Orlando. However, I didn't like the accompanying potato salad. It tasted like there was vinegar in it. Yuck! Also, the "new" pickles were a little odd but I think its just because I'm not used to them. My waitress was an older woman, if I had to guess I'd bet she's the regular. She is super sweet and very attentive. Nice, clean place. I'd recommend it. Just not any pickles or salad. The sandwich was PLENTY!

I wouldn't recommend dining here unless you are over the age of 80, but they do make a good sandwich with plenty of meat, soft bread and pretty good cole slaw. So, for an easy to go lunch, Pastrami Club is a viable option.

I've been looking for a kick ass pastrami sa-mitch ever since I moved to SF from NY. 9 years later low and behold the holy grail of all - the most authentic NY / Kosher style pastrami sandwich like I used to get back home on Sunday's with the familia. If you love real deli, then run dont walk to this great jem.

BEWARE if you are using a restaurant.com or groupon coupon. We ate here this evening and told the waitress we were using a coupon. We told her during the meal multiple times we had the coupon We ordered large sandwiches so we could get to the dollar level we needed to be at. As we were short we added some pastries to our order. When we went to pay they told us they are not accepting the coupons. They had a small piece of paper behind the register stating it, that no one could see. There was nothing on the front door stating the information. The food was decent however, I wouldn't come back because of how they handled the situation.

More than a little disappointed over the lunch I had here today with one of my former employees. Going here is the only chance I ever get to have a shopped liver sandwich and they're always good. This one wasn't today. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything to rave about. His pastrami sandwich was much better. Next time I'll order something different.

The old owners are back, you just can't find deli this good anywhere else. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

Enjoy!

Feels like home to me (new york),but the hostess leaves a lot to be desired. No hello or good bye.

Great pastrami!! Been to Katzs in Ny and this is comparable. Close to home and convenient and a great sandwich! Love this place and fantastic service!

I would give 5 stars but they didn't redeem my coupon. The pastrami was great and the potato pancakes were fantastic

Pastrami and corned beef are worth it. Not so much on the matza ball soup. Classic Florida Jewish restaurant. No surprises.
