It took a while for us to find a Carribean restaurant but my wife and I finally found it! Donna's is that quaint little spot that you secretly keep to yourself because the food is so good that you don't want anyone else to know about it. Well, selfishness be damned, Donna's is a winner! Upon entering, you walk down a corridor towards the front of the kitchen where the food is all ready prep'd and ready to go. The first thing I noticed were the prices a little pricey but well worth it (you'll see why in a minute!), the plus side all the dishes are the same price for the same size regardless of what you choose; a large jerk chicken costs the same as a large curry ox tail. We've been to other caribbean restaurants were this was not the case. The best thing about Donna's has to be the shear quantity of food that you get! I'm gonna be honest, when we got there, my wife was going to order a dish and I was going to order something else but, when I saw how HUGE the large was, we decided to share one dish. That's right, it was just that big. Right in front of the register, there's a beverage cooler where you can pick your favorite soda and just next to there, is the entrance into the main dining area. Spacious, clean and nice, this area had two flat-screens on running the news and it is large enough to accomodate a bar. From what I saw they difinetly serve beer and wine, but I'm not too sure about spirits though. The cool thing about the dining area is that it is technically seperated from the ordering/take out area so it isn't as if you're trying to enjoy you're food and you have the hustle and bustle of bodies coming in and out of the entrance and parlaying around while waiting for their food. The food itself was phenomenal. We ordered a large curry chicken and I must admit that this was some of the tastiest curry chicken I've had, the chicken was succulent and falling off the bone, it was delicious, it had an authentic taste and you could tell that the cooks in the back love what they do. It had both flavor and heat, mix that in with some fried plantains, rice and peas and a salad and dinner is served. While we were there, the restaurant was definitely busy people kept comming in for take out which leads me to believe that this is more of a take out joint than a sit-down eatery, shame though, if it is true, because the the dining area, I think, is a really neat space. In total, my wife and I spent $12 for a large curry chicken and two sodas. Usually in the other Caribbean/West Indian restaurants that my wife and I have gone to, we would spend roughly the same amount for 2 dishes but, I have to give it up to Donna's portion size as well as their lunch specials, which start at $3.99! If their lunch special is even half of the large, then it's a bargain and can't be beat! There are a select few places where your dollar goes a long way and Donna's is it. Congrats Donna's, you are my offical Caribbean Restaurant!

The food here overall is authentic. I especially like the Curry Goat and the patties. Just don't expect service with a smile.

The Brown Stewed Chicken is so good! Actually, most of the food I've had here is delicious. I've had the fried chicken, jerk chicken, curry chicken, and oxtail. This is weird, but funny..my cat attacks me when I come home with my lunch from Donna's. She's a weird little creature, not really a beggar unless I'm making homemade Sicilian Gravy or I bring home Donna's. Oreo approves and so do I!

I love the weekend brunch. Curry goat, ackee and salt fish, jerk chicken, mackerel run down, liver, kidney, fried fish, bammy, rice and peas, dry dumplin, yam, banana, plantain and so much more. All for $20. I often stop by for the take-out. But the counter service isn't always the best. The food is always good though, and they have lunch special pricing during the week.

I went to Donna for the first time tonight and, I seriously hated every bit of it. Firstly, Donnas customer services SUCKS!!!. The lady and guy that serves are just plain rude. I asked them some questions and the lady was laughing at me, the guy had a sarcastic look on his face and he looked like he was not happy with his job and was not happy where he was. Secondly, the food!!! If I wanted rotisserie chicken, I would have went to publix because the price is way cheaper. I bought jerk chicken for like $8.50, and it was dry and stale looking, no jerk sauce what so ever. The rice was dry even though I told them to put gravy on the rice. I regret ever thinking of trying this place. Dutch pot is way more affordable than here, and has way better Customer service than Donnas. I would never recommend this jamaican restaurant to my friends or families. In conclusion, Donnas suck, really bad. I have to say it's one of the worse jamaican reataurants I've ever been to. If there was a zero star option I would pick that one. Donnas need to step their whole game up. Get rid of the mean, Un friendly servers and also rethink the menu because at that rate they are going, they won't be doing too well in the future. The food is really bad and not fresh. I will be speaking to the managers about my experience and hopefully they take my advice.

When you think your top shit opening outlets all over the place what you get is the worst Jamaican food ever . Donnas started out great but duplicated themselves to be just like the rest of trash Jamaican cuisine around, so sad to see that they cant even capture the shear essence of the Tasteful and delightful Jamaican flavors and aroma. Cook at home or find a Jamaican friend that knows how to cook great and take him or her the ingredients , your much better off

This place is hit or miss for me. I love their fried chicken. Best out of all the Jamaican restaurants in the area. But today I decided to have some goat soup. Halfway thru I came across a giant piece of plastic. I'm kinda pissed. I get that stuff ends up in food, but boiling a piece of plastic in a vat of soup isn't ideal. I'm 7.5 months pregnant... I sorta don't need to be consuming soup with plastic boiled out in it.

Service SUCKS!! You can have the best food on the planet. If you lack customer service, you might as well shut your doors. The servers, especially the women are rude and nasty. I have gone to this location on several occasions and each time, I received the same "Cocky" attitude. The wait is extremely long and the portions are not generous. They overload the container with rice, to give the illusion, you are getting your monies worth. EVERYTHING is an additional cost. The prices are relatively high. I suggest you learn how to cook the meals, or gain a Jamaican friend. I will not patronage this location anytime soon! Not feeling IRE!!

Ask that your food be weighed, if ever ordering their "curried goat" by the pound; at times, you may wish to order only the meat of the meal....and add your own rice or veggies etc. Your order will be weighed out of your sight, and they will insist that "it's okay, mon". They are so unprofessional at serving food to the public.

Had to find hostess to be sat. She tried to put 8 ppl in 6 person booth when plenty tables were available. The food was very good. Our young male waiter was very polite and professional. They were out of ranch, fritters, oxtails, red pea soup, and goat, lol. Was a bit of a guessing game of "Guess whats left to eat". I would suggest going before 730pm for sit down dinner if you want full menu option.

  • Oscar A.

They don't take orders over the phone and there's always a long wait, Is really inconvenience for people that are on the rush and have a short lunch break.

I'm so upset with Donna's in Lauderhill :(. I come to Donna's every Sunday just about. I was turn down dining service cause they had a buffet brunch. I'm a manager at a restaurant. I would never turn guest away. Plus im a big tiper. Still can't believe it. Well I will never come back there ever again.

Due that im of Jamaican descent, reviewing Jamaican cuisine can be very critical. Of all Jamaican restaurants in SFL, Donnas is one of my favorites. WHen you walk in the vibe is great, reminiscent of the island itself. As for the food you cant go wrong. The jerk chicken very tasty, but dry in my opinion. Jerk pork is my favorite, the other dishes ive tried (brown stew chicken) you cant go wrong. Portions very favorable

I went there for the Sunday brunch. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the food (very Caribbean) , the choices of juices (you have to try the carrot) and the desserts.

Went to this place for brunch on a Sunday with the family. We had a good time and food was decent. They had a big buffet of Jamaican food, breakfast and lunch. I would go back. I loved the juice bar also they had a juice called sour sop and it was pretty good

This is for the dine-in experience, the food is great otherwise both dine-in and take out. I went on a Sunday (not for their brunch buffet though) at around noon with my mom. After the young waitress told us we could sit anywhere, we did. So we wait about 5-10 minutes before she even gives us a menu...and then she doesn't ask us what we'd like to drink. So we keep waiting while she starts to seat new people and chats with them casually (I guess she knows them?). When she comes back another say...10-15 minutes to take our order (small Brown Stew Chicken and Oxtail) she asks us for the drinks too. A water and coffee, no big deal right? So we wait a further 15-20 minutes and remind her asking for our drinks. Once again, nothing, and we flag the older waitress and she goes to check on them...which leads to nothing. After some time passes, we get our food! Now that's fine and all, but we still don't have drinks, and the older waitress asks our younger waitress where our drinks were (I think she was better off getting it for us instead). The older waitress brings the food and apologizes which is fine. After we basically are halfway through the food, she FINALLY gets us our drinks. Keep in mind she offers no apologies or anything, just a "here you go" sort of attitude. As for the food, they offered great portions for a small size (it seemed larger than the lunch special portions that I normally get for take out). We chose the rice and beans, which was a bit drier than I'm used to and it came with sauteed or steamed vegetables (don't know how they prepared it) which were eh. My brown stew chicken wasn't as soft as I'd like but the sauce was on point as was my mom's oxtail dish. All in all, I wouldn't come back for dine in (at least with that young girl) and I'd stick to the lunch specials they have for $3.99 on weekdays. I told my mom to not tip, but we chose instead to give it to the competent waitress. On a side note, the brunch buffet looked pretty good and it has other items besides Jamaican breakfast/brunch fare like mac and cheese and scrambled eggs etc. I probably wouldn't try it for $13.99 though.

I just love Caribbean food. Coming from India, I have tasted a lot of different curries, and methods of marination, types and blends of spices. Jamaican and Guyanese food come very close to Indian food and these cuisines, I have learnt, derive huge inspiration from Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi food. Back to Donna's food. I went there for the first time in spite of average reviews since I am on a Curry spree since last few months. They have a huge seating area especially indoors. I have come to rate a Caribbean restaurant by its Curry Chicken - yes that's just me I guess. So I ordered a small Curry Chicken it cost me $7.94 (this was their dinner price - lunch is $3.99). After filling the box with about 4 dollops of rice, she brings out a fresh dose of Curry Chicken. That made me shake my head in approval. That "small box" could easily feed up to 2 people in my opinion. The amount of chicken deposited on the rice was huge and she asked me if I wanted Curry gravy - "Yes Please" was my answer. So I had rice with beans, curry chicken, and salad. I was grinning all the way to my house thinking about how good this is going to be. It turned out to be one of the best Curry Chicken I have had. The chicken was very well blended with spices, cooked very well. The rice and beans were good. I'd try the white rice next time for a change. The salad was fresh too. This was at around 9 pm at night. The best part is they are open till 12 am. This solves a big problem of finding food options after 9. Will try their insane cheap lunch next time.

how can they call themselves a Jamaican restaurant and serve such under flavored food? i have been to donna's twice. the first time, i got a jerk chicken and a jerk pork. the jerk pork was bland and fatty.. the chicken was dry. a few weeks later, i decided to give it another go - it was friday at 6pm and they were out of everything... mind you, they wouldn't be closing for a few hours. they had some oxtail and fried chicken left. so i tried the ox tail.. the guy was scraping the bottom of the try to make my dish..it looked like it would be tasty.. but that's just it.. it was only in the looks. it was bland like the other dishes i've had there... and the oxtail was so fatty. i couldn't stomach the rest.
