Such a cute little place! I love Sushi by the Sea. The owners are friendly and the chef put so much dedication into his work. My boyfriend and I come here frequently. They have some of the freshest fish and the quality is superb. I always leave with a happy tummy. :) come here and you won't regret it!!

Went today for lunch and it was FANTASTIC!!! They have some great lunch specials. I had the California roll with edamame and five pieces of sushi. About as good as it gets! We tried the dragon roll and it was outstanding as well. The star of the meal was the sashimi though.... Tai, tunas salmon and octopus...fresh as I've ever had! My personal favorite was the daily special! UNI! It was GREAT. I loved it!!! I'll be back soon! This place is magnificent!

As a general rule hole in the wall or sushi take out joints aren't that good. I tend to pass them by, but Sushi by the Sea isn't one for which that general rule applies. It is small, it is hole in the wall, it is primarily take out, but its good. Better yet it isn't just sushi but also Peruvian, offering one of the best tasting ceviche mixtos I've ever had. For a small one man operation, the menu is enormous, offering some 17 appetizers ranging from seaweed salads to tuna tartars to baked in lime juice scallops with parsley and parmesan cheese. Then a range of about 8 regular sushi combination plates, 8 roll combinations, a "Nigiri a la Carte" which gives choices of various items including but not limited to snapper, octopus, scallop or eel by the piece, a couple of soup offerings, 30 some sushi roll offerings plus four or five desserts. I've had the "Spider" which consisted of a soft shell crab roll with tempura flake, avocado and a masago which appeared to be sort of a roe. However for a quick snack I go for the ceviche mixto which has a near sweet, not overly acidic taste about it which makes it one of the few ceviches that I enjoy so much I'm sure to finish off every last bit of the liquid, gulping it down as if it were a soup. I know this place has changed hands before and confess that the "For Rent" sign in the window has me concerned, since I'm sure the secret to their present good food is in the hands of the present operator.

Family-owned and operated, Sushi by the Sea holds the crown for best sushi in Fort Lauderdale, hands down. The owners, a Peruvian and Japanese couple, are a gastronomy match made from heaven. They have years of experience and knowledge with Japanese culinary. The menu's mostly comprised of Japanese food, but compliments some notable Peruvian dishes like Lomo and Papa a la Huancaina. As noted, prices are very reasonable for generous portions, and what's certainly not to miss here is the sushi. Best. Sushi. Ever. If you're near Lauderdale by the Sea, and in the mood for sushi, don't miss out on Sushi by the Sea.

Forget the past. The current Sushi by the Sea offers the best and most authentic sushi around. Each plate is a meticulously handcrafted piece of art. The chef takes great care in how he slices the fish to the presentation with skillfully sculpted garnishes made from cucumbers, carrots, etc. My wife is Japanese and I lived in Japan for 3 years. We know sushi. Most of the sushi offered in south Florida or the US is not authentic or made with any dedication to the art. Real Japanese sushi chefs take great care in every aspect of what they do. If you want real sushi prepared by a Japanese chef who is dedicated to his craft then this is the place to go!

This place is so tiny, doesn't look like a restaurant. But their Sushi is authentic, real deal!! Best sushi in town for sure. Their kitchen is always sparkling clean. That's another very important check point when you want to enjoy raw fish. If you want to try real "Sushi" from Japan, this must be the place! They also carries Japanese sweet and Sake. Always something new to try. Highly recommended!

5/8/12 SEE UPDATE BELOW No stars (I have to give it 1 star to record a rating, but it deserves no stars.) This place has the worst sushi I have ever had. The rice was sticky because it was so stale, the ingredients were tasteless at best and off tasting at worst, and it was overpriced in a dingy, dirty little strip mall. Get a hot dog at the 7-11 and you'll do better than this place. This is horrible sushi. For really excellent sushi go to Sushi One on Federal and Las Olas. It's worth the drive from Lauderdale By The Sea (Commercial and A1A) rather than walk to Sushi By The Sea. Sushi One is worth a cab ride. Sushi By The Sea is worth only contempt. UPDATE 5/8/12 I have been informed there are new owners and this place is much, much better. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll give it a chance. Until then, please try it yourself. I hope to raise it to 5 stars my next trip to LBTS but for now, I'll leave my old review up there. Take it with a grain of (old) salt.

Place is small, good for take out (has 2 tables in it). Sushi was fine. Prices were very reasonable. Not fancy set up, but perfect after our day at the beach. I liked supporting a local business. Has a few Asian treats for desert as well. Good Customer Service.
