First - though it's not my duty to comment on other reviews - I'm shocked to see bad reviews of this place! I've lived within five minutes driving distance of Thai Basil on West Bay for three years, and have eaten there close to three dozen times. Carry-out and eat-in. And not ONCE have I had a bad meal there, nor have any of my friends whom I've pointed this direction. My usual order is cheese rolls for an appetizer, and pad thai with chicken, medium spice. The cheese rolls are great: something like a fried spring roll but filled with a cream cheese and shrimp mix. Think of it as Thai crab rangoon, but even tastier. The rolls are two per order and served with a slightly sweet raspberry-based dipping sauce. For appetizers, I've also had egg rolls and spring rolls, both of which are good in their own right, but not as memorable as the cheese rolls, mainly for how unique they are. I've had satay chicken, the red and yellow curry, and pad thai for entrees. The servings are always generous, served piping hot, and very flavorful. When eating on location you'll get a bowl of steamed white rice, but that's absent when doing carry out. I can safely say that I've never missed the rice as the serving size is huge in and of itself, there's really no need. The decor and ambience of the restaurant is very nice. It's a casual establishment but done very nicely. The service has always been fast and friendly, and the prices are pretty reasonable. I wouldn't call them cheap, but very much in-line for the quality of food and service I've received there. I can't say a bad thing about Thai Basil on West Bay Drive and as a long-time customer am really surprised at those who do. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and hopefully the less than perfect experiences are very very few and far between. New/prospective diners, don't hesitate, just enjoy! PS: do yourself a favor and order Thai (iced) tea with your meal...you won't regret it!

Continuously bad service and poor food. My pad Thai was so sweet it tasted like a dessert. The basil rolls were loose and lacked any meat. Even after all that I gave it another try, only to be told they were closed even though the signs said open and it was during business hours. This place has gone from amazing to horrible. It's very sad as this used to be my go-to place for Thai food. I will not be returning. They have lost a long time loyal customer with with their behaviour.

What an amazing restaurant. My wife and I had the same or (Curry Salmon), but I asked for mine extra spicy. Most of the time you cant really tell if that actually listened to you, but this place did and it was AMAZING. We also had the Spicy Tuna and Spicy Yellow tail rolls which were really good. The sushi was fresh, rolled correctly and everything about this place was simply delicious! It was an excellent find in our backyard!

Was so excited to have leftovers from my red curry over the wknd to bring to work. Unfortunately, after I ate a few bites I noticed a WHOLE COCKROACH floating in the red curry sauce. Will NEVER eat here again!

Nice little spot for lunch. Met my new girlfriend there last week, as she likes the place. The pricing for lunch is really good fro what you get. I judge a Thai restaurant by the quality/favor of their Pad Thai. It was really good, with just the right amount of spice for me...that would be a "2" on a scale of '4".....yum! The server was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience excellent for us. So, we got a good meal at a good price, we were not rushed, good service, and nice atmosphere. enough said.

Thai Basil II has the most amazing Thai Food. I love my Thai food to be very spicy and this place definitely delivers on that. I ordered my food "Thai Hot" and it was Holy S*@T hot. Amazing. It was the perfect amount of heat on my rice and chicken. The portions are large and cooked to perfection. I work by Thai Basil II and live by Thai Spice. And I would say that it's a tie for my favorite Thai spot. Which is saying a lot since Thai Spice is voted as the best Thai in Tampa consistently.

I was craving for Thai curry so we decided to find a Thai restaurant on GPS and this place came up. The location is not so great....not many things around kind of remote. When we walked in (like 7:30 dinner time), there were only 2 other groups and we stayed till closing but only 2 others came in after all. But then I realized later that this is their second location on the same street. I wonder why this one came up on GPS and the first one didn't . The one in Clearwater is so much closer to us. So maybe the first location is a lot more crowded than this one. We had a catapiller roll (eel and avocado on top), Panang Curry, and Seafood delight. About sushi roll,,,,I wasnt so sure till I tasted. They are definitely not the best but it was decent (bigger portion than other places too). It was unfortunate that they did not have regular spicy mayo like other sushi places. Their spicy mayo looked a lot different and they said that was their spicy mayo. Panang Curry is alright not the best again but not bad at all. The seafood delight is good too...alot of seafood! But the dessert was my most favorite! Fried banana with coconut ice cream....absolutely delicious!! I was so full but I wanted a dessert and decided to have this one....so glad i did!!! The service is not so prompt but they are very nice and I like the interior decoration and the cleanness too. I still like to try other Thai places around clearwater so I won't be back till later but so far this is my favorite Thai restaurant!

Amazingly consistent food. Thai food is my comfort food, and whether I stop by to pick up take-out or dine in, this food is fresh, delicious and flavorful! Great service, always friendly staff who remember the smallest detail. Perfect chilli basil sauce + delicious drunken noodles.

Have been to many Thai restaurants. First time here. Ordered food to pick up. Got chicken pad thai. Gross. Oily surface but the noodles were undercooked and dry. NO flavor. Chicken was dry and tasteless. Nothing but noodles and chicken to add to the already lacking flavor. Almost no sauce. I had about 6 or 7 bites and just stopped eating it.

Had just a small lunch here by myself. Probably the best Tom Yum soup I have ever had. Everything else was like any other Thai restaurants. Very limited customers during the lunch time I was there and it was a Friday...I'll come back for some soup...

Best Thai I've found so far in this area. I had the red curry chicken, Tom kha Kai coconut soup and the crispy eggrolls. Everything was great. The soup had a nice heat to it as well as the curry. Perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Eggrolls were crispy and tasty as well.

I love Thai Basil, everything is so fresh and delicious. The staff is also very friendly, calling us by our names and making menu suggestions. Everything is made to order so be patient because it will be well worth the wait.

Stopped in to TB2 for lunch during the week. Was very impressed with the decor. The exterior is not very charming, but the inside is ornately decorated. Service was fast and attentive. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with brown rice. I received an egg roll as an appetizer (I guess it came with the meal), which was nicely crunchy and delicious. I received a decent helping of food that I very much enjoyed. The veggies were fresh and cooked but crunchy, the pineapple was browned to perfection, the chicken was tender and juicy, and the brown rice....ahhh, so delicious. Tasted more like vanilla rice, but maybe that was the sauce or something. My friend had the curry duck and was also very pleased. I had enough food for leftovers the next day too. Very much worth the trip and I would highly recommend. Great selection of menu items; very clean restaurant. Don't let the exterior fool you!

I have eaten at this particular establishment at least a dozen times, both in restaurant and take-out. More often than not, I order the Red Curry Tofu, spring rolls and Chicken Pad Thai. The curry is rich and creamy and the tofu is perfectly cooked every time. The Panang Curry is also amazing. The spring rolls are light and crisp and served with a sweet raspberry dipping sauce. When ordering to go, they wrap the curry in plastic wrap to help reduce mess, and cut holes into the containers they put the egg rolls in, to make sure they stay crisp. In over two years, we've yet to have a single dish that we didn't absolutely love. To be honest, the reason they receive 3 stars is because the the location is less than ideal, the service is below mediocre and it can be a bit confusing the first time you go. There is a front desk that is never used, and it's easy to be overlooked for seating. When you pick up a to-go order, you need to go to the bar at the back. Like many Asian restaurants, they are closed between 3 and 4.

It is a sad day..... This used to be our favorite Thai place but our last three take out orders have been awful. We really tried to stick with them but three strikes and your out

Came for dinner with my mom. Great food, quiet and relaxing evening. Pad Thai with chicken was excellent and Panang Curry was a great recommendation from our server. The shrimp in the curry was cooked to perfection and and the veggies were so fresh. Good servings, plenty of leftovers for lunch!!!

I pass by this place almost everyday but never dined in until recently. The outside decor is very bland and has no welcoming appeal to it. But the indoor decor was definitely Thai influenced with beautiful wooden art work. I was in a rush since this was during my lunch break so I didn't get to try all their famous dishes that yelp friends were raving about. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai without peanuts. The order came with a coconut curry base soup. The taste and texture was alright. I could be biased since I'm not a coconut curry lover. The Pad Thai was a little on the wet side. The sauce was good but I wished the noodles were not so wet. It was like ingesting soup noodles. Perhaps they rushed the cook time. I'll definitely come back in the near future for a second chance. Service was excellent! Water was constantly refilled and the restroom was clean.

Middle of the road food and service. Nothing horrible and nothing great. Red curry was nice, but not outstanding. Quiet and relaxing, because the place was empty.

I work central to this location and the other Thai Basil on E. Bay in Largo. Decided to switch it up today and see how this one was (I know, I'm so spontaneous). So glad I stopped in here! Now I'm going to be conflicted on which one to go to LOL. But I guess it doesn't matter since they are the same owners? Interior is nicely decorated, lots of dark wood tones and typical Thai decor. Sign to seat yourself when you walk in. Sushi bar to the left and lots of seating available around the restaurant. I ordered the toasted tortillas and chicken larb- mild (I'm a wimp). The nice lady gave me a water and wonton soup while I waited for my to go order. Not sure what exactly was different with my toasted tortillas, but they were REALLY good here! Better than I've had them before. The shrimp/chicken mix inside of the tortilla had a firmer texture and I really liked it with the chili sauce that came with. My chicken larb was perfect! Not too spicy and superbly seasoned. They also weren't stingy on the cabbage which I was happy about. I can't believe they weren't more busy at lunch hour when I went. There were only a few tables there. Great restaurant and service. Will definitely be back in the future.

You can never go wrong with their chicken fried rice! Always a favorite of mine. Their stuffed mushroom caps are phenomenal, and really good sweet & sour chicken. Beef massaman curry was okay, not good or bad. I took another Yelpers advice and tried their cheese rolls? However unauthentic they may be, they were delicious. Ambience inside is nice, although I have yet to actually eat inside. Instead we have always ordered take out. They have always been really nice with service.
