Been coming here for more than six years, but always have difficulty writing a review. I gave them 4 stars, not because the food is the greatest - but because they succeed at what they set out to do. Plentiful fresh salad, with an extensive list of fresh toppings and dressings (although no meat toppings). Good selection of breads, although sometimes stale and dry from sitting out to long. Multiple soups, basically good, but they all need more seasoning. The pasta leaves much to be desired. Bland, bland, bland. Won't win any culinary awards, but if you want a great salad this is the place.

The kids love this place as do the adults. We go here regularly for a late Sunday lunch or dinner during the week. It's best to have a couple when going as you can feed a family of four for 25 dollars. The food is ok overall but extremely fresh. You have to get over everyone touching the utensils but other than that a good place for a healthy option. We enjoy the variety and freshness of the food here. They always have themes and that changes up some of the salads and soups which is always a nice treat.

Warm fresh baked mini muffins. Made from scatch soups (6 choices). Great salad bar. There are other things there but those are my favorites. Awesome price for a buffet. $11 for adult. $5.29 for 6-12yr old. $3 or $4 something for younger. Fountain drinks and bottled water are extra.

I like this place, because the food is tasty and they have a nice variety of soups and a good salad bar. And there's always coupons in the paper. All-you-can-eat: nice salad bar, flatbread-type pizza, six kinds of soup, baked potatoes, a couple kinds of pasta, frozen yogurt. Right now they're experimenting with pay-a-little-more-get-cold-chicken, but I don't think that's gonna be popular. Also pay a little more for free-refills beverage (water is free, they give you a blue glass instead). I'm torn about this place selling itself as healthy. I mean yes, the food is all pretty healthy, but without some kind of portion size control... so that's why it's full of fat people. Because they think eating a ton of relatively healthy food will magically make them thinner, or something.

In general, I am not a fan of buffets as you are essentially trading quantity for quality. If I must go, Sweet Tomatoes is definitely one of the better options. The salads are regularly rotated so that everything stays fresh and they adjust their menu for the season to provide some variety along with their standard items. Expect a lot of salad options, soups, pastas and breads with a few dessert items as well.

Big salad bar with lots of choices. They had focaccia, all kinds of tasty soups...and our favorite, the sugar free chocolate mousse! Came here twice on a recent visit to Florida. It was reasonable, fast and tasty.

My parents have brought me here probably a dozen times over many years, as they absolutely love this place. Normally on my own, there's only a single buffet in the Clearwater I'll ever eat at (Oriental Super Buffet at 2456 Gulf to Bay), and I'd usually rather shoot myself than do the buffet thing. But hey, they're your parents and you love 'em, right? So you suck it up, and take one for the team. That said, Sweet Tomatoes does what they do very well, serving up a very nice selection of salads, soups, pasta, bakery items, and stuffed potatoes that often changes daily. Even more, every few weeks they seem to feature a rotation through a theme of dishes from different countries that repeats every few months I usually stick to a couple of bowls of soup and a small salad, and I've found a few soups that were very, very good. I don't eat any sweet things, so my choices at the bakery are usually limited to some focaccia breads which are usually mediocre, in my opinion.. As someone else hinted at, on my first few visits I found it waaaaay to easy to overeat here even with the few soups/salads I like, even once puttin' a hurt in my belly that I'd like to forget. Lesson learned, I've limited my portions accordingly. The dining room is nice and usually kept very clean for a buffet. Since everything is self-service (except for the limited wait staff that clears tables), it's tough to give them much of a score on that account. But the value is very high, and be sure to do the email sign up on their website to get discount coupons every week, along with regular updates on their menus changes. Atmosphere: 4 Service: 2 Food: 3 Value: 4 I'm sure my parents would give them 5's all around. ;-)

Lots of choices for salad, soups and even a few choices of pizza. Only complaint here is the so called italian dressing. This was by far the worst italian dressing ever. It was sweet. What italian dressing is sweet? This is what ruined this place for me. If you like the other dressings than it's a great salad place. If you are a fan of house or tangy italian like I am, then don't eat here.

While it is a buffet, this is one of the healthier eating establishments. Plenty of fixings for a make-your-own salad, but the soups, pastas and baked goods were the main draw to me. While the alfredo pasta and mac and cheese were tasty, the blueberry muffins won me over. They were the BEST I've ever had.

All the salad ingredients are very fresh, but the main reason we come here are for the soups. They usually have six different choices and they're always terrific. The Sunday brunch features an outstanding pasta with eggs, spinach, tomatoes, and feta cheese, a delicious spinach frittata, and excellent bruschetta, but the waffles and French toast aren't cooked to order and get cold and stale very quickly after they're put on the counter, and the potatoes O'Brien were practically raw. This really isn't an ideal spot for breakfast, and the warm dessert you get at dinner doesn't warrant the higher price, so keep this on your list for lunch options only. Check out the Sunday paper for discount coupons.

I never say no to going to Sweet Tomatoes! The salad bar is great- pretty much any veggie/salad topping that you'd want and they have a bunch of pre-made salads (Caesar, pasta, potato) that are usually good too. They have a bunch of rotating items that go with their theme for the month- on the salad bar, as well as the other areas, so I go fo these if I'm in the mood to try something new. The soups are always great, the mac and cheese is good and they always have good breads/muffins. I LOVE when they have cobbler for dessert- that with a little vanilla softserve of top is amazing! The only downside is that while you THINK you're going to be eating light and healthy- it's salad, right, there are a lot of unhealthy, filling things (in mass amounts) to tempt you, so watch out!

Everything was fresh and crisp. Loved the Chipotle Tomato Bisque, the focaccia was excellent, Joined their email club before going and instantly received an email with BOGO 1/2 price. Took the advice of previous reviewers and went between 2 and 4 and it was not to crowded or loud. We will be going back.

Everything is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good (CYE) here and you can't beat a buffet that is this clean and not filled with 500 lb people on scooters. The prices aren't bad and even better if you have a coupon, of which they send out many in my area.

I love Sweet Tomatoes! When you have a craving for a FRESH made-to-your-way-of-liking salad, this is the place! Even the prepared ones they have available are fantastic! I tried small bowls of 2 soups today, corn chowder and turkey vegetable, both exceptionally good! The sourdough bread is very good! For dessert, I enjoyed a caramel sundae and a few "dessert" muffins, the brownie bites muffin and the Key Lime muffin. Everything was WONDERFUL! Right now they have a special on Monday through Thursday, 2 to 5 pm, where seniors pay $6.99, including their fountain drink. Strawberry lemonade is delicious, as is the Blackberry Acail Vitamin Water.

I like the idea of this place because it seemed to put a healthy spin on the usual all-you-can-eat obesity feasts we normally see in the South. It has some good features- I like the shredded beets, radishes, squash- things you don't always get in a salad bar. But where I was disappointed was the lack of vegan options and labeling. Labeling their items also helps people with allergies and other dietary restrictions. But to be truly healthy, they would need a lot less cheese/butter/milk in their items. I probably won't go back unless they offered more vegan options. I also wish they offered more organic ingredients. I know that will add to the expense, but you can selectively pick which foods it makes the most sense to buy organic (greens, fruits/veg where you eat the skins, etc.) and keep costs fairly low.

This one of the best deals in the area. There is a huge variety of salads and items to add to the base salad, plus pasta salads, etc. and it is all fresh! It was really busy on Saturday evening, but the staff was positive and up beat. They had 8 soups to choose from, a nice variety of breads and rolls, plus some desserts - all for $10, for seniors. We eat here once a week while we are in Florida and highly recommend it, if you are looking for a soup and salad type lunch or dinner.

Huge salad bar with dozens of choices. Pasta day isn't the best for me but I love sampling 8 different soups with this buffet style. Great fresh baked breads and muffins. Pizza was fresh out of the oven.

I really like this place because the blue cheese salad dressing does not have any MSG so I can eat there. Overall the place is pretty good. Very friendly and good service. They also have fresh baked potatoes and sweet potatoes and real butter. This may not sound like the best recommendation but when you avoid MSG that cuts out 99% of all restaurants so to be able to have a salad and baked potato with real butter is a treat.

A tad pricey (less so if you stick with water for your beverage), but yummy. Fairly good salad bar selections and other options (bread items, good desserts, LOTS of soups, baked potato bar, etc) I think it would be impossible to come here and not leave stuffed. Really something for everyone. Great for when you need to eat right away and don't want to wait for food prep.

I didn't know what to expect since I am not from Tampa. The description on Yelp sells better than what it is. It is a giant salad bar with an addition of a bunch of buffet-style unhealthy options. Imagine a Ponderosa with lettuce.

(ST's food will always get 5 stars from me for being fresh and original. This 2-star review is based solely on this location alone. I live in St.Pete with no ST close to me. This ST location is always such a jam-packed, chaotic, circus of a line-waiting and noisy "adventure," that my family just prefers to make the drive and dine at the ST in Palm Harbor...) I'm a proud carnivore and the nearly-meatless Sweet Tomatoes may still be my favorite chain restaurant in our area! It is a bit pricey for a soup/salad bar/bakery buffet, but I think it is well worth it for the quality and selection. Check your Sunday paper ads for a coupon. It helps a bunch. The pre-assembled salad creations are great and the make-your-own salad selection is likely the most expansive you've ever seen. I would eat a salad like this every day if I had enough energy to prep the ingredients. But it is their Yankee Clipper clam chowder that keeps me coming back, over and over. It is a magical, creamy delight, with lots of clams and french-fry-sized pieces of potato. I like to grab a piece or two of their great parmesan focaccia to DIP (when nobody is looking, of course!). Their chicken noodle soup is also very well done, with giant pieces of shredded chicken and chunky, homestyle noodles. The bakery offerings are always excellent. The cornbread and blueberry muffins definitely earned their "black belts," and could compete and win with any bakery dojo! My only food complaint? Eh... The pasta? Seems to be just cooked noodles, tossed in a sauce in a wok? For shame! REAL macaroni and cheese is born from an oven! You know, with the cheesy and CRUSTY top? You start doing that here and you will win over many more fans! I will always love ST and am hoping they will finally open a location in St. Pete! Until then I will avoid the never-ending chaos here and drive a bit more North!

It's a bit expensive for a salad bar and soup, all you can eat buffet or not. All the food was fine and the cashier was very pleasant. This is a good place for lunch or dinner. We got in and got out right away. The highlight of lunch was the fresh strawberry lemonade.

When this carnivore wants a little break from all the departed animals that I eat. This is my goto place graze. I always think that I'll be eating healthier here, but with all the different add ons to my huge salad I'm sure I'm not. I rarely partake in the pastas that they make and instead grab a bowl of clam chowder that has a good flavor especially after I put in some bacon pieces. A few pieces of pizza and we're good for the night. The prices do seem to creep up over the years, but if you watch for the coupons in the papers it's still a pretty good value. If you can get there before 5:00pm you get more of a discount too. Over all it's a decent meal minus the meat!

This place is an absolute joke. We only come once a year because the kids want to go. Seriously what can you expect from a place like this? Salad is just about the only thing edible for an adult with any idea what good food tastes like. I call this the California version of Hometown Buffet. I give it 2 stars just for not getting ill.
(2)

I would give less than one star if I could. Very basic salad ingredients. No meats at all. Who ever heard of a salad bar without bacon bits? Had to look through half a dozen plates to get a clean one. And the rest of the food was passable at best. The brownies tasted like they were baked with bitter chocolate. All that and yet it was packed enough that we had to wait ten minutes for a table while our salad got warm. What a waste of money and time.

Priced way to high for the standard of food. Salad looked like it had been there for hours the soups looked overcooked never coming back.

First of all, no one gets 5 stars, so 4 is my tops. My first impression as opposed to many of the other sweet tomatoes I have visited, is that it looks very well lit, clean, open, & waitresses did not Hounddog us. There were many more healthy choices that I've not seen before at these restaurants , even great sugar-free dessert options. Some highlights for me were the berry barley curry, the citrus bok choy coleslaw, in the tapioca pudding was phenomenal

Th wow I don't know what to say! Ok so I'm not a fan of all you can eat places. But this...this is good. It's soup/salad/pasta and baked potatoes. They have your basics when it comes to build your own salad with a huge selection of toppings. But they also have specialtiy salads-Chicken Wonton Happiness is a chinese salad with a tangy sweet dressing...that is well happiness. They also rotate salads based on the season and have theme months which is super cool, so it's not always the same. They have a variet of soups to pick from. About 8. I always go for the chicken and noodle. I'm boring sometimes, but this is comfort in a bowl and I don't care if I'm in Florida and it's 90 degrees outside I will eat a bowl like nobody's business. The chicken is super tender and is pletny! The noodles are big. There is also an array of pastas from mac and cheese to alfredo. You can build your own baked potato-regular or sweet is on hand. Mini muffins and breads to accompany. The oat topped mini muffins are my favorite. They have fruit on the inside. Also have fresh fruit and an ice cream machine. They do have an email club that sends coupons for discounted prices. Place is clean, always busy and is a must stop when in the area as we don't have any near home. I always take any new people with me here and they love it.

The salad bar was good! .... That's about it. Super pricy for salad, the rest of the food wasn't that great. Brandon and I made some awesome salads and then tried to get some other food a couple different times and noting was really outstanding. The soup either had nothing in it or giant chunks of chicken that were really chewy. Even the desert wasn't very good, everything we really plane tasting. Wasn't too impressed but if I ever get a craving for a salad I might go back.

This is a nice location, I must say. The atmosphere is very clean and open. The staff is very friendly and attentive to clearing dishes and tables from the dining area without being bothersome. Often they will chat pleasantly with yo has you eat or walk the floor. The food is decent, for a buffet style eatery. The ingredients are fresh, for the most part. One does pay for this, however, and this will be reflected in the bill. It could be argued that it's all-you-can-eat, but the prices are still a bit high for what you get. Do try the strawberry lemonade, the fresh strawberries are a nice touch. Also the tomato, cauliflower, and split pea potato barley soups are great. So far, all of the available salads are excellent. Vegetarians are well take care of as items are listed when they are friendly to those diet restrictions.

Hadn't been to one of these in several years, and never been to this particular location. Was pleasantly surprised because it seems since my last time in they've updated their food to mostly healthy, lighter choices than I remembered. We ended up popping in right at the top of lunch hour on a Monday about 12:00. The line was moving fast and we did not have to wait at all. Salad bar was fresh, well stocked and cold. The tuna salad pasta and the texas cole slaw were really good. I thought the bottled water was a little crazy at $2.59 although hubby pointed out they were huge bottles. Realized after we were seated I could have gotten free ice water at the bar - live and learn. We had the chicken alphabet soup and the clam chowder - both were very good. Not crazy over the top but hot, well stocked, and good flavor. The old heavy foods bar I remembered is gone and has been replaced with a lighter fare - focaccia, a baked potato bar, and a selection of muffins. I really enjoyed the gluten free coconut muffins with real butter - yummy good. The day we were there they also had a hot pasta bar serving three types of pasta, but I understand this changes daily, sometimes serving asian stir fries, etc. so check ahead. The heavy desserts are also gone -- soft serve ice cream with a few standard toppings is as naughty as it gets. The old pies, cakes and cobblers are now replaced with fresh fruits, a light chocolate mousse, cottage cheese, and tapioca. Even though it is a self serve bar there are wait staff to help you with clean plates, fetching a drink, etc. Our server was friendly and efficient and we tipped her the usual 20%, just as we would any person in this role. Our ticket for two, including the overly priced bottles of water, was $24 before tip.

Decided to stop in for mass quantities of salad. One of the nice things about this location is that it is very clean and with buffets that's a big plus! Their food is very consistent. As odd as it seems, I judge salad bars by the crunchiness of their croutons and theirs are crunchy. We used to get the iced tea but it was rather weak and flavorless however, we soon discovered the fresh squeezed lemonade with actual lemon pulp. It will make you pucker! The only challenge is the traffic madness of Largo Mall, it is only for the most motivated restaurant goers!

I can't find any reason not to like this restaurant, besides the fact that I gain a few pounds every time I eat here! The salad bar has everything one could need for an excellent salad. This weekend, through today only they had lettuce wraps which were a healthier alternative to the usual pasta. I can't keep my hands off the pasta. They had a LOT of nice soup options. There was a variety of baked goods too. They have tea and lemonade along with the typical sodas. I love the variety. My favorite part of the visit is a chocolate muffin with soft serve ice cream, topped with chocolate syrup and chocolate sprinkles! If you prefer vanilla, caramel, and nuts they have those options as well. Come ready to have one meal for the day because you can fill up. If you like soup, salad, breads, and ice cream, this is your place. Always take a coupon as they come out frequently and if you can't find one search online for one. They will take it from your cell phone.

Buffets rank low on my list overall, so note that I am giving this 3 stars as this is an A-OK buffet as far as they go. Despite the fact the food is probably cooked institutional style for the masses, things still look fresh and enjoyable. Much cleaner and brighter than your average buffet place. The salad bar is amazing, and there are no excuses to not have an awesome salad because you build it yourself. The soups are mostly amazing. The bread and muffins usually never disappoint. Everything from the bran muffics to the cornbread to the garlic cheese bread is very tasty. I'm usually not a fan of the pasta section, but that's ok because my 5 pound salad and bowls of soup fill me up. And, best of all, you get to top off the meal with ice cream and jello. The drinks are good too, as they almost always have a cool flavor of lemonade or tea. The price is reasonable for the quantity of food you can consume, especially if you join their list and get the coupons. Just beware that even though this place has a healthy vibe, you actually can be unhealthy here depending on what you select and how much you have.

Soup and salads are the main draw here, and they do both exceedingly well. In addition to a wide array of salad fixings for do-it-yourselfers, the restaurant offers ready-made Caesar and Oriental Chicken salads as standards and a few specialty salads that change every ten days or so. These tend to lean towards the "exotic" - greens with pears, walnuts, and gorgonzola or a spicy Southwestern pasta salad, for example - and are never disappointing. The restaurant's strong point is definitely its soups, always made strictly from fresh ingredients, perfectly spiced, and overloaded with vegetables and whatever other ingredients it contains. Here, too, the specialties rotate - a recent Mexican meatball soup was one of the best I've ever had. The chicken soup - a staple - is filled with huge chunks of breast meat and thick homemade noodles. Chili is thick and spicy. There are always three pasta selections, but these tend to be less successful, usually dry and overcooked. Foccacio and pizza (too often underbaked or overdone), a variety of muffins, and baked potatoes with all the extras are also available. Fresh fruit, pudding, and soft serve yogurt for make-your-own sundaes comprise the desserts. The addition of a fruit cobbler doesn't warrant the higher price charged after 4:00pm, since all other menu items remain the same. A major problem with this location is its layout. New diners leaving the register enter directly into the area where people are picking up their soup, pasta, breads, and yogurt, and the result at peak dining times is a traffic jam, if not actual collisions involving food-laden trays, and tables are too close to each other. Best time to visit is between 2 and 4:00pm to avoid the crowds and increased noise level.

The kids love this place as do the adults. We go here regularly for a late Sunday lunch or dinner during the week. It's best to have a couple when going as you can feed a family of four for 25 dollars. The food is ok overall but extremely fresh.

Priced way to high for the standard of food. Salad looked like it had been there for hours the soups looked overcooked never coming back.

This may not sound like the best recommendation but when you avoid MSG that cuts out 99% of all restaurants so to be able to have a salad and baked potato with real butter is a treat.

went there on awednesday before 5 pm, seniors special 7,49 with drink. cant bet it. good salads, fresh baked bread, , pizza bread . had 8 different soups, tryed 2 of them , decent. had a couple of muffins good also. not as dirty as in the past.

Everything is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good (CYE) here and you can't beat a buffet that is this clean and not filled with 500 lb people on scooters. The prices aren't bad and even better if you have a coupon, of which they send out many in my area.

Atmosphere: 4 Service: 2 Food: 3 Value: 4 I'm sure my parents would give them 5's all around. ;-)

(2)Geoffrey J.

As odd as it seems, I judge salad bars by the crunchiness of their croutons and theirs are crunchy. We used to get the iced tea but it was rather weak and flavorless however, we soon discovered the fresh squeezed lemonade with actual lemon pulp. It will make you pucker!

You must try to sweet tomato if you've never been before great soup and salad buffet but doesn't make you feel like it's one of those nasty wants try sweet tomato
(4)Thomas J.
(4)Jason N.

(4)Keith W.
I didn't know what to expect since I am not from Tampa. The description on Yelp sells better than what it is. It is a giant salad bar with an addition of a bunch of buffet-style unhealthy options. Imagine a Ponderosa with lettuce.
(1)John N.
(2)Jason R.
It's a bit expensive for a salad bar and soup, all you can eat buffet or not. All the food was fine and the cashier was very pleasant. This is a good place for lunch or dinner. We got in and got out right away. The highlight of lunch was the fresh strawberry lemonade.
(3)Jerry G.
(4)Michael M.
This place is an absolute joke. We only come once a year because the kids want to go. Seriously what can you expect from a place like this? Salad is just about the only thing edible for an adult with any idea what good food tastes like. I call this the California version of Hometown Buffet. I give it 2 stars just for not getting ill.

(3)Dan R.
(4)Diane H.
Huge salad bar with dozens of choices. Pasta day isn't the best for me but I love sampling 8 different soups with this buffet style. Great fresh baked breads and muffins. Pizza was fresh out of the oven.
(4)Clyde S.
Good selection and mostly healthy choices! Very fast and friendly, and the wait staff keeps the tables clear and clean!
(4)Julia T.
(4)carl h.
went there on awednesday before 5 pm, seniors special 7,49 with drink. cant bet it. good salads, fresh baked bread, , pizza bread . had 8 different soups, tryed 2 of them , decent. had a couple of muffins good also. not as dirty as in the past.
(4)Brandon P.

(4)Brian C.
Everything is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good (CYE) here and you can't beat a buffet that is this clean and not filled with 500 lb people on scooters. The prices aren't bad and even better if you have a coupon, of which they send out many in my area.
(4)TootTootTootsie G.

(5)Day W.
(4)Jessica H.
(4)Gregg E.
Always nice and clean and all the Food is always fresh when I eat here.

Never disappoints. A go to restaurant for our family.
(5)Michael Z.
(3)Suzy G.

Atmosphere: 4 Service: 2 Food: 3 Value: 4 I'm sure my parents would give them 5's all around. ;-)
