I ate here for lunch yesterday, had the revuelta(everything) pupusa which was not that great. For my main course i had the Chili Rellenos stuffed with cheese, they were really good, the sauce was different, kinda of a light red or orange colored and tasted kinda veggie. This is not a formal or fancy lunch place, it's a mexican greasy spoon, I would eat here again....and I did! I ate here a second time, had the steak and enchiladas. The enchiladas as far as I could tell were just some corn tortillas covered by lettuce, crumbly cheese and avocado slices. The steak was very tender and tasty and the avocado was delicious! Walking around the store next door I saw a huge fried thing it was about 16" around and looked like an elephants ear, turns out it was pork skin. Go try this place.

Food was really good but beware of the prices on the menu. When I questioned that I was being overcharged, not knowing if the waitress understood what I was saying, she just walked away. I questiond the cook and he said the prices don't accurately give the correct price. I said that I thought that was really wrong and they should correct their menu. I reluctantly paid $7.00 more than I should have.

I have been looking for the real Mexican food experience since moving to Pinellas County. Don't let the outside fool you. This is the real deal. Thank you!

YES! Now that is how you make delicious food! Located in a strip mall, you walk in and one section is a small grocery, and the other larger section is the restaurant. First impressions were good, hole in the wall places typically offer up some authentic grub. The waitress came up to me immediately and took my drink order. Salsa and chips were brought out. The salsa had a chipotle taste and definitely had some heat. It grew on me as I ate it. I ordered a carnitas burrito and a pork torta. I seriously underestimated the amount of food that was about to be bestowed upon me. The burrito was huge, and the torta was nothing to scoff at either. The pork torta, ahhhhh, the pork torta. The pork was moist and juicy and flavorful, the bread was great, everything about it was phenomenal. The burrito was also very tasty. They brought out a very large cup of sour cream and a bottle of green sauce as well. I ate enough for two people and my total bill was $14.42. The chef also poked his head out and wanted to make sure everything was to my liking. Yes, yes it was. This may be my new place for Mexican cuisine...actually, I've decided: this is my new place for Mexican cuisine. I can't wait to go back, I can't get that pork torta off my mind.

I have lived in or around Clearwater for the better part of 20 years and I'm pretty sure this is the most authentic Mexican food I have had the pleasure of experiencing. The 1st trip earlier this week I simply saw the reviews here on yelp and figured I should try it. I ordered a few Bistec Tacos and a couple Campechano (steak and sausage). I preferred the Bistec and was very pleased with the excellent flavored Beef, and the simplicity of the limes, cilantro, and chopped onion to accompany the protein inside the home made corn tortillas. I also enjoyed the Campechano, which was the same beef mixed with what I think was Chorizo. The atmosphere was clean, and made me feel like I walked in off the street in Mexico as Soccer was on TV and there were many actual Mexican patrons enjoying Modelo and listening to music. Very cool place!! This time I got the Bistec con enchilada which had about 4 pieces of thin steak on top of real enchiladas and a side of wonderful authentic rice and insanely good beans. They have 2 sauces that they give you with the tacos, a green (verde) and rojo (red). The red sauce packs a spicy punch, but I could probably drink it, as it has an incredible taste. I preferred it over the verde which was also good. I posted pics of the menu the best I could (1st post on yelp) and when you order you are going to need to speak your order in the best espanol you can muster up. I also spoke with the chef/owner (I am assuming here) and he was very helpful and pleasant! Enjoy!

If you like really good Mexican "street tacos"...This is your place. I have never been disappointed going here. It is my go to spot when I want authentic Mexican food and a cold Corona. Brush up on your Español and bring cash so you can leave a tip for your server.

I ate at Los Amigos Taqueria a number of times on my search for the best taquerias in Pinellas. While few of the taquerias come close to the flavors I've found in the southwest, my goal has been just to find the best we have and enjoy. This taqueria is located in a strip mall on Missouri Ave, inside Los Amigos grocery market store, just turn left once you enter the building. The interior is neat and clean, there are about 8-10 tables and booths with plenty of space for dining in, and the service has always been quick and efficient. I will say that Los Amigos has many atmosphere ingredients that I've found are usually signs of a good taqueria: 1. Few or no one dining there that looks like me, meaning the flavors are usually authentic. 2. Menu in Spanish. 3. A soccer game on the TV. 4. Great Mexican pop and Mariachi music blaring through the sound system. 5. Cold Tecate beer (big bonus points as in many local taquerias you can't drink beer in the dining area onsite, even if it's sold in the grocery store). The Spanish menu is extensive, but I usually stuck to the tacos, which were quite tasty, filling, and well-seasoned. Prices are quite reasonable, and I thought a very good value. A bit of knowledge of Mexican dishes is a great help. If you don't know the Spanish names, the wait staff is very eager to help. So far, La Cabana del Tio is the best taqueria I've found in Clearwater, but LAT is a good bit above average. My scores for LAT on a Pinellas taqueria 5-point scale: Atmosphere: 4 Service: 4 Food: 4 Value: 4 Don't forget to shop the well-stocked grocery store if you like to cook up your own Mexican fare at home.

This is for the tienda only. It's a small place, but carry authentic Mexican specialties. They have Coke hecho en México!!! ....among other sodas made with real sugar instead of corn syrup. *there is a difference*

Disappointing. I tried the tacos and the chile relano. The pepper was bland, soggy and incredibly oily and the ranchero sauce it was topped with was bland and oily as well. The chorizo taco meat was black and burnt and the al pastor and chicken tacos were unmemorable. Will not be back.

Eating as I type, it's THAT good. Wanted something "different" for lunch today... and I have heard nothing but great things about this place. Authentic Mexican "corner store" with dining area, dancefloor, & pool tables. I don't speak much Spanish, but I know what I wanted... The Pork Torta. Picture a stubby "hoagie roll" full of delicious roast pork, avacodo, sliced tomatoes, chopped onions, & some kind of black bean mole? I only waited about 5 minutes or less, and it's out of this world. Yum. Yum. YUM.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
