I would hide away from this location. The service was not great. The server left frequently to smoke and left us hanging. The quality of the food was only mediocre and location did not offer much. I would recommend other places.

Pretty pathetic. That fish fry that includes beer is only on Friday nights so we didn't get to experience it. Run down location. Food was a downscale version of diner food--and I do mean downscale. The people next to us got biscuits and gravy and that looked pretty good-so I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.

I have lived in the keys for 30 years. Over the years I have tried many other restaurants but always keep coming back to the Hide Out.. The service was as great then as it is now. I miss the all you can eat shrimp but the fish fry is SUPPER GREAT! I wish this place was still the best kept secret in town because, in order to get a seat you need to be there early. My glass and plate are never empty as soon as i am about to take my last bite here comes more food . Its such a very laid back casual place . Bring your dog no problem you eat outside they even have a special area for Dogs. PRICE, FOOD AND SERVICE can not be beat. CASH only

Hidden Out used to be the Hide Out restaurant. I first heard of it on a motorcycle outing in Wisconsin. There was this guy just talking about the BEST breakfast place he had ever been. I've been going ever since, just every other week or so, and I still think it's one of the best Mom & Pop shoppes in the Keys. Almost everything on the menu is under $10. They usually are only open for breakfast and lunch, but make this little spot a stop, I think you will be very glad you did. Oh, and bring cash, unless something changes, they don't take plastic.

Emily M.
Hmm I will forever refer to this place as Hideout. It is a dive, so anyone complaining about that aspect needs to get over it. It looks like a strong wind would take this place out in a second. But that's besides the point. It's delicious and cheap eats. All the waitresses will refer to you as "Honey". Go here, get breakfast, be happy.

What a great find. Meals may be served on plastic plates but it is EXCELLENT and all homemade. We went for the Fri. fishfry - the best ever including the baked beans, coleslaw & hush puppies. Also had breakfast the following morning - also all homemade & again perfect. Don't miss this if you are around Key Largo. The wait staff is incredible especially Rae & Kathy.

Really great place for any kind of meal. I called it the island country. The menu is extensively large with multiple selections. The food is very homemade and fresh. This place is tucked away in Jules underwater sea lodge. Every time in diving here I always grab a quick meal before my dive to recharge the engine and make sure I stay hydrated. Don't expect fancy, expect inn expensive, great meals and a very warm staff who caters to any of your needs in very little time. This place is one of the many hidden little areas in the keys, it's a gem in its category.

The wife and I are staying with friends who have been Key Dwellers for many years. This morning I woke up with a hankering for biscuits and gravy and my host immediately gave me directions to this little gem. We sat outside on the smoking-friendly screened in porch which overlooks the "boatell." Did you know you can rent a boat in lieu of a hotel room in the Keys? You can. She had the breakfast special - 2 eggs, bacon, pancakes and a drink (included) and I had biscuits and gravy that I'd easily place in the top 5 I've ever had (and I BLEED biscuits and gravy!) We also shared an order of hashbrown casserole which was creamy, cheesy addiction. The total was about $15 - well worth every penny and more. Staff was laid back but attentive and fun. I told our waitress that I wanted a job there just so I could learn the sausage gravy recipe and she informed me that one of the owners is the only person who knows the recipe - he cooks it up when the restaurant is totally empty :) EAT HERE!

First off the correct name is The Hideout! The awesome folks who saved this place from extinction got the name back so let's use it people! I added a new listing with the correct name. This local comfort food joint is the best in the Keys for real home cooked fresh food and friendly folk. Don't come here expecting linen napkins and tablecloths. Any hoity toity reviewers need to go back up to Miami cause down here in the Keys it's have a laid back attitude or go home. We don't need suits and skirts here! Try the blueberry pancakes! The best sausage gravy and biscuits in the Keys are here. Everything is fresh and delicious. The service is fast and friendly. Friday night's all you can eat fish fry is awesome! Just come & leave your cares at the door!

This is a great place for a relaxing brunch. The breakfast menu items are common for the area, with typical choices mixed in with Keys favorites. The service is prompt and friendly, and if you're lucky, you'll get to have a chat with the locals.
Breakfast is by far my favorite meal and I love the diner type breakfast. Hideout (it's mislabeled on yelp) is the gold standard version in the keys. I had cheese grits, eggs and bacon - all while sitting on the ocean. It's a basic place - not fancy but that's the appeal. We also sat next to one of the owners - a wonderful vet, 89 yrs old.

Hidden Out is divey, out of the way, a little crowded, but we really enjoyed the food. We stopped by for breakfast after seeing the reviews on Yelp and we weren't disappointed. I had a blueberry pancake, fried potatoes, and sausage, all of which were great. My husband had a Western Omelette, grits and toast, and raved. They have a great breakfast selection. The service was fantastic, the waitress could not have been nicer. The place felt like we were eating at a relative's house, rather than a restaurant, which I enjoyed. Prices were very affordable. Definitely worth the stop. (Just a note, they don't take credit cards but do have an ATM onsite)

We stopped here for breakfast and it was delicious! Don't judge it by the way it looks. Everyone was so nice and friendly. I had the fish and grits. Don't forget to try there Mimosas. I don't think it's on the menu our waitress suggested it to us, they make it with fresh orange juice.
We were so excited to try this little place after reading reviews on Yelp. After traveling all the way from Iowa to the Keys, we had scoped out a few places we wanted to try during our visit. I have to say that this was one of the worst places I have ever eaten in my life. As a person who loves a good breakfast, I came in expecting a nice, thick omelet for breakfast. Instead, I got a flat piece of fried egg with a few strands of spinach (I ordered a spinach and cheese omelet) and a few scant pieces of cheese. Absolutely disappointing, bland, and cold. I don't know how this place gets a 4-star review from other guests. The good news? The service was fine; the waitress was friendly, dressed in tye-dye fashion. Very divey, and something worth remembering. Too bad the food was way off the mark. The coffee was drinkable; nothing special. What else can I say? This place will never see me again.

If you love homemade sausage biscuits and gravy, you will love the Hideout. I have a hard time finding the good stuff but this place delivers. It is not much to look at. The servers are wonderful. They are funny, very quick, eager to offer advice and very sweet. My husband had something called The Redneck....a biscuit with sausage links and an egg covered in sausage gravy. A must for anyone who wants to kick it up a notch. Very affordable. I will definitely come back for the fish fry if we're in town!

Hiddenout Restaurant Key Largo Fla 47 Shoreline DR Key Largo Fla 33037 While on vacation in Key Largo I had the opportunity to leave the rest my family at the beach one morning. I took this opportunity to go looking for place where I could set down, take my time and just enjoy the quiet and a good breakfast. I found this place at the dead end of a short street. Noticing a couple who were leaving I inquired of them if the food was good and they said yes so I decided to give it a try. I have never seen SOS ( a military mess hall favorite lol, chipped beef in gravy over toast ) on a menu before even though I have made it homemade many times with both dried beef and ground beef and enjoyed Stouffer's frozen as well. Anyhow they had this on the menu so I decided to give it a try. YUM YUM excellent choice !! After it came to the table I remembered that this comes with hash browns or grits. When I ask about the hashbrowns or grits the server ask which I would like to have and I said which do you recommend? She said I will just bring you both. So she did. I'm not talking a couple of spoons of each but whole orders of each at no additional charge. The service was fast, very friendly and the food was yummy !!! I noticed that tonight Friday night was fish fry night and given the fact that we had not yet had any seafood during this trip I decided that this would be a great place to try tonight. Having told the rest of the family, 2 more adults and a 13 yr old about my discovery we returned that night for the fish fry $12.95 all you can eat grouper tonight or Mahi Mahi for $2.00 more. The price included unbelievably all you could drink beer or any other regular beverage. My family LOVED the grouper while I really enjoyed my fried shrimp dinner ( I don't like fish ). This place has definitely earned a place on my favorites list and has become a must visit whenever I am in or pass through Key Largo Fla.

Delicious little hole in the wall. Was very happy with the location and the flavor. The hash brown casserole is to die for, but very rich. I actually ended up with a bit of a stomach ache after since I'm not used to such rich food. But it was delicious. I want to be nice so let's start with the staff. They are very nice and friendly. And that's about it. The place is run down, food overpriced. Hints, if you get the home fries they look raw, the toasts are over buttered. I decided on it because they called it a hidden gem. Well, it's not. Did I mentioned the food was expensive? Very overpriced! And they only accept cash or checks, no ATM. No credit cards.

This must be a local must love... The place has really cute signs, which play into the character of the place. Other than that, there really is not anything spectacular about this place. The food was not bad but it also was not good. I got scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. Bacon was fine and cooked to perfection. Home fries were probably fried on high heat which made them crispy on the outside but they came out dry/half not cooked in the middle. The eggs were the most disappointing. It was very rubbery. Typical jelly's were on the table for toast. This place takes cash or personal check. There is an ATM on site. Waitress did her job well. I can see how she could come off as mean/rude but I found her dry humor (whether intentional or not) was comical. Overall, I would not recommend going out of your way for the food here.

Open at 6 everyday and a good value breakfast. Service is super friendly and atmosphere is relaxed. The food is typical breakfast fare and prepared well. We'll be back here tomorrow!
