I have been going to The Fireplace for almost the last 10 years. Greasy spoon? I don't get that at all. It's in my neighborhood, it's relatively inexpensive and, if you know how to order, you can get a pretty good meal, usually with a salad and dessert. As it was run by a Greek, Peter, who passed on a few years ago, the Greek staples are always a good choice as is most of the comfort food. The fish fry on Friday is a great bargain as is the BOGO burger Tuesday. Btw, the bread is also great and I recommend the Greek salad as well as the rice pudding. I have had a few things, but not many, over the years I didn't care for and the waitresses always get you something else quickly. They provide friendly and speedy service. Management always has a word and a smile for you. What else can you want out of a restaurant? I would rather eat here than in the manufactured restaurants across the street in the mall. How Chilis and Olive Garden and Red Lobster and Sweet Tomatoes can be jammed and I can still get a table with only a max of a few minute wait on the busiest of nights is beyond me. Lastly, ask for Sherry on any night except Saturday. She's really upbeat and knows what's good in the kitchen.

Had eggs over light with sweet Italian sausage with home fries and biscuit. Excellent quality, waitresses came by often to check on us and freshen coffee. $15 + tip for two. Very pleasant casual interior. Will definitely repeat.

The new owner is pompous doesn't listen to customer requests. Ordered a salad ... Don't know how you can mess up a salad but they did. Tasted old i didn't eat but four bites.. Owner still had me pay for it.

My husband and I decided to try this place after Jimmy steaks and subs on Seminole Blvd told us there was an hour and a half wait for take out. As we were sitting there waiting for the waitress to take our order, I turned to the wall to see a roach crawling up the wall. Needless to say, we walked out after showing the waitress and told them they need bug control.

food was OK, service was terrible!! waitress put my plate down never came back to see if I would need a refill, and I had ordered all you can eat Cod, she never came back at all. I told the man at the registrar, he took a $1 off the bill. He called the waitress over, she asked me if I wanted a "couple of pieces of fish to go" Not sure if I will go back, because as the man said, they were not busy, only a few people eating there and she was not the only waitress.

This restaurant has a new owner. The food has improved. If you're looking for a great place to eat you should check this place out.

We decided to try the lunch at this place, never expected to be treat so rude as soon as step in,our waitress was in a little hurry so she need me to order pretty fast, we order the Cuban and the Philly sandwich, plus two cups if soup, soup was cold, and the Philly too salty, when I approach to pay the bill, I let the manager/owner know my experience she seams not to care at all, so for me I wouldn't recommend this place. You can always go a little further and try anywhere else.

You have to understand this is not an Applebee's or chain restaurant type. It's a local place where local seniors go for an inexpensive meal and that is what you get with variety. They are friendly, hard-working and provide a good service to the local area. THEY MAKE A KILLER GREEK SALAD for banquet take-outs and offer several sizes. Absolutley the best in the Largo area that we are familiar with. All of our employees at work ask me where we buy the Greek Salad when we buy it to compliment our hot dog and hamburger cook-out days. You won't be disappointed.

Every time we drive by this place there's a line out front, so we finally decided to give it a try for breakfast. It must be the low prices that are attracting the crowds, because the food isn't much of a draw. The eggs and potatoes were cold, and the toast was so dark it shouldn't have been served. Worse yet, when we asked for some that wasn't burnt, the waitress told us we should have requested it lightly toasted in the first place! Crowded, noisy, lousy service, and bad food - why are people lining up for this dive?

The most memorable aspect of our dinner was how completely forgettable it was. The only explanation for the long lines out the door morning, noon, and night is that, in order to enjoy a meal away from home, seniors sadly forced to live on an unrealistically low fixed income are willing to settle for terrible food if the price is right . . . and here it's dirt cheap. I was depressed less by the wilted salad with bottled dressing, weak, flavorless soup, and salty, greasy, overcooked fish than I was by the fact that for most of the other patrons, this was a special treat.

As Russ stated in his review, this is a long time local restaurant and they know and understand their clientele. They are family owned and run and the servers and kitchen staff have all been here for years as well. They work hard and recognize their frequent customers. I don't have to tell my waitress what I want - she knows what I always order. That's nice in a day when good service is hard to find. Tip well and you'll be appreciated. Good food - it's our go to place for breakfast. I can't speak to their lunch or dinner menu. I'd rather spend my hard earned money here than give it to a corporate run chain.

The Fireplace Restaurant has been here in Seminole forever. Probably since at least the mid eighties. However in this case longevity does not necessarily mean good food or quality. This place is a greasy spoon diner and I am judging it as such. The menu was heavily breakfast oriented with Greek and Italian flavors thrown in as well. Specializing in your typical diner fair you would think the Fireplace would have no problems making my vegetarian omelet with home fries, and my wife's fruit and cottage cheese crepes. Well that didn't turn out to be the case, as both dishes were nasty- bordering on the inedible. I don't think it is asking too much for my local mom and pop breakfast place to be at bare minimum better than a corporate restaurant like Country Kitchen, Perkin's, or The Village Inn. Well with the way everything tasted you'd be much better off going to any of those chains. The home fries looked very good but were lukewarm and tasted like the past decades worth of burned food on the grill. It had a gross bacon-ham flavor that I could only describe as tasting like an elephant. Think dirty, gray, and sorta like the zoo. Weird right? Secondly, the omelet was more like a flat egg tortilla wrapped around canned tomatoes, white button mushrooms, and green peppers. It was bizarre looking thin/flat mess and completely missed the mark. Give me a fluffy folded omelet over this thing any day. Lastly, the fruit and cottage cheese filled crepes deserve a mention. The "fruit" listed on the menu was actually nothing more than blueberry flavored corn syrup. Fresh fruit would pair nicely with the light airy crepes, instead you got a meal doused in artificial flavor and fake sugar. Worst of all the crepes and syrup were served steaming hot. This instantly started melting the cold cottage cheese filling and whipped cream topping. Within minutes everything on the plate turned into a tepid pool of watery dairy product. Can you imagine eating hot liquid cottage cheese? How does this plate get served like this? Gross. The best things about breakfast were the prices were low and the service was pretty decent. But this was offset by the decor not being nice and the place not feeling very clean. So that is a wash, and nothing makes up for the really bad food. As others on Yelp have eluded to the only reason this place has any business must be catering to fixed incoming senior citizens. So in summary - cheap yes, good no.
