Amazing as always. The beef sausage combo was on point. The bread is incredible. You feel like you're eating a great home made meal made by your grandparent. Love this place.

I've had my route for 3yrs now and today is the first time I've stopped in Bono's. Needless to say I will be returning. The Italian beef is sensational and the owners are sweet as can be. I recommend stopping when in the area.

I love this place. It is difficult for me to get the opportunity to stop. This is a small hot dog stand on the side of Ulmerton Rd. It is run by a couple. The food is wonderful. Hot dogs are very tasty. The hot dog buns have always been fresh. The toppings for the hot dogs are very fresh. I would suggest trying the original Chicago dog. It was very good. Has a great tasting mustard, spicy peppers, and celery salt. Initially I wasn't sure how good it would all come together however, pleasantly surprised. I will continue to stop any chance that I have. Keep in mind they only take cash.

Never been in before, such a quaint spot on the side of a busy road. Walked in, asked way was good, and got a small sandwich AND Chicago dog for under $10. Roast beef was good with the dipping sauce and the Chicago dog was awesome! I'm definitely going back!

I've been several times, but have only ever tried their hot dogs. I typically get three hot dogs per meal, so I've tried all of their combinations. I would have to say that their Chicago style hot dog is my favorite. The hot dogs are the best in the area, hands down. You may want to time your visit slightly before or after the lunch rush as this place is not a secret, and it can get pretty packed. Parking is also at a minimum. As others have said, this is a hole in the wall mom and pop shop, but it is totally worth it. After reading the other reviews, I'm going to have to go back and try their subs.

This place is great! That italian Beef is the star of the show! I'm not a fan of the Chicago style hot dog so I can't comment on those as I don't eat them. Just a matter of personal taste. Know before you go: This is as bare bones mom and pop as it gets. Don't expect ANYTHING beyond that. We're talking no salt, pepper condiments or silver ware of any kind. Cash only. At lunch you'll wait 15-20 minutes for food. It's worth every minute, trust me. I am not from Chicago so this is not a memory lane thing for me. But that roast beef is some kind of special. Real special.

Love the Italian beef sandwich with the au jus dipping sauce. The bad long wait just to place an order and dining room is to small.

I grew up in Chicago the birth place of our well loved Italian Beef... With that said this is " The Very Best Italian Beef I Have Ever eaten" lets put it like this. If I was on death row and was asked what I wanted for my last meal without hesitation I would say Bonos Beef!!!!!

Fantastic food, great service, takes a little while but I call ahead, so when I get there it's ready. Very nice folks.

Let me say first that the folks that run this place are very nice. This is the closest I've come to a Chicago hot dog in Florida. However, close doesn't mean it passes the test of someone born and raised in Chicago like myself. Vienna hot dogs are a requirement so that's a good start but the condiments were lacking somehow and the bun, while poppy seed, was stale. The fries were dry, hard and overcooked and the portion small - you shouldn't be able to guess the number of french fries in your serving +/-1 just by looking at it when you are first served. And if anyone thinks this is good Italian beef, they have never been to Al's or Mr. Beef in Chicago. So if you are craving something that resembles Chicago-style food but have forgotten what great Chicago-style food tastes like, this may fit the bill.

Just like grandma used to... wait! To be perfectly clear I've been to Bono's at least a dozen times in my lifetime, if not more. The sign actually reads "Bono's Famous Chicago Style Hot Dogs, Subs & Salads". Since I recently started reviewing places I've been and because I ate there today for lunch, I decided it was high time I wrote to tell you about this little gem. This place has been here so long, that as the road widened (Ulmerton) they actually lost the front of their parking lot. So be prepared as parking is a premium and you may have to walk from up the block, but it's worth it. Let's start with the decorum. This is a basic building painted bright yellow with red trim. It's eye-catching but not very attractive. Don't get me wrong the paint is clean and fresh but overall when you think of a big bright yellow building you don't think fine dining. Inside you'll find a simplistic layout with approximately 10 deuce tables with simple chairs in a room with very little decor. In fact it's so plain it's easily forgotten. As you walk in there is a counter immediately to your left with a small menu board on the wall much like a picture. It contains nothing fancy, basic sandwiches, salads, and a couple of side items with Coke products to drink. For entertainment, there is always a newspaper on one of the tables. Let's talk about the food. I've had at the Chicago style dogs and the Chicago beef sandwich on previous outings and they're both delicious. Today I opted for my favorite here which is the cheese steak. Today I ordered the six-inch but I really should've ordered a 12 inch as I always forget just how tasty it is. It all starts with the bun which is lightly buttered and toasted perfectly with just the right amount of crisp. He uses a cheese whiz type sauce now (more on that later) which covers the tasty flavored shaved steak, and you can get optional mushrooms and onions which I always enjoy. All food here is cooked to order. That "he" I am referring to is the elderly gentleman who serves as the cook and owner. I've never actually heard him speak but that's mostly because he is hidden partially behind a wall with a chrome pass-through and he is always slammed with business every time I'm there. This place is only open from 11 to 3 PM on weekdays. Did I mention that he wears a Greek sailor cap? The other half of the ownership belongs to his lovely wife who is in the front of the house taking your order and getting the drinks and side items for you. I'll never forget my first encounter with her. I ordered a cheesesteak 12 inch, a side order of fries and a large Coke, now my standard order, and I had asked her what comes on the cheesesteak, she replied "it comes with Swiss cheese". Not really a big fan of Swiss cheese (well the kind with the holes anyway), as I voiced my opinion she scoffed at me and said, "oh you'll love it dear", I then inquired as to whether or not I could get peppers, onions and mushrooms, she smiled almost sarcastically and said "mushrooms and onions it is". She's quite the spicy one, but you'll learn to love her like you do your own grandmother. This last outing I decided to sit outside and enjoy the Florida sunshine. The concrete small round 2 person tabletops are nothing fancy, painted white, but I really just wanted to bask in the sunlight. When she brought my sandwich out, my fries were missing, and when I asked her about them, she said at first that she had forgotten them then she stated that she had burnt them. Either way it's part of the charm. Unfortunately, this time when they did come out I had already finished the majority of my sandwich. She apologized several times which I found to be quite cute and endearing. I didn't really care, to be honest, as I don't really need fries, well at least my waistline doesn't and it turned out to be a good thing as today's fries seemed a bit freezer burned, plus, the packets of ketchup which she supplied in ample amounts seem to be quite vinegary for some reason. By this time, I was really turned off by the whole thing. I had eaten a couple of fries but that's about it. I had already finished my sandwich at this point and stacked the 2 baskets up, gathered my Coke, and headed inside to bring her the baskets. By now a line 6 people deep had developed but she brushed everyone aside, came out from behind the counter, noticed that I hadn't eaten my fries and said apologetically again and in a slight whisper, "I'm giving you $2 back" I refused a couple of times but she insisted saying that she would feel better. I couldn't really resist. She also topped my Coke off as well, and halfway through asked me what I had after partially filling it up with root beer, all part of the charm really. So with my impromptu refund, lunch set me back $7 cash. (Edited for yelp)... Small things... will keep you coming back....

Just discovered this place a few weeks ago and the food is incredible. This is a shame, because I've told many people at my office about it and the other day I had 4 others who wanted to try it too. I called to place a pick up order for 5 sandwiches. This was around 11 and we wanted them around 1230. I figured an hour and a half would be enough notice for 5 sandwiches. After being on hold for a considerable amount of time while listening to the employee engage in conversations with other customers she comes back, asks if I'm still there, and proceeds to ask me "can we do this another day?" Who says that? Apparently they aren't equipped to handle all the business they get. If you aren't prepared to make money, don't open until you can. I found this to be very unprofessional, as I've never had anyone from a restaurant ask me this before. Huge disappointment. No one in my office could believe it. Their food is so good so this is a real shame. From now on we will be ordering from Bruce's down the street. They have actual normal business hours, take credit cards, and seem to be able to handle volume with no problem.

Great place for lunch! They have 9 specialty subs that include hot sandwiches like beef, sausage, and meatball hot subs or turkey, roast beef, and Italian cold subs. They also have different hot dogs, salads, and sides you can choose from. I tried the Chicago style dog and the specailty Bono's Beef sub. The dog came on a soft poppyseed bun with all the fixins and was great! The beef sub came on a toasted Italian roll with Giardiniera peppers and au jus and was delicious! Great prices! Small place but fills up for lunch with Business pros. Cash only and closes at 3pm! Check it out!
