Excellent! The Beef on a Weck absolutely melts in your mouth as does the pulled pork that my aunt had. My husband ordered the Cuban. He loves Cubans and said this was the best one he ever had. Ofclose, the Philly cheese steaks are awesome. And John provided fantastic service!

I have eaten at Big Jim's at least 20 times over the last couple of years at both locations, but I will not be back. After writing an honest review of their new location, I received what I consider to be a threatening email from Jim's father. I will quote it here: Subject: Your personal comments about my son "My name is Jim from Big Jims, In your recent review on Yelp you made some very untrue comments about my son who you know nothing about. While you are free to review my restaurant there is no need to slander my family,we are working very had to make our new restaurant a success . In the future if you feel the need to verbally attack someone direct it towards me or better yet stop by and do it in person , I am sure that would get some good reviews" I reread both of my reviews of the restaurant and now, unless "Jim's" son is a french fry, I'm not sure how he interpreted my review of the restaurant to be a personal attack on his son. However, let this be a warning to anyone considering patronizing their establishment-BEWARE!!! DO NOT DARE to write an honest review if it contains anything critical of their place (which is nowhere near as good as the old one). Jim-I want you to know that I have forwarded your veiled threat to Yelp! and to the police. You have a problem, sir, and I take your threat seriously.

Eating in is really good....but calling in a to go order lacks customer service. 20 min additional to the 30 min pick up time I was given...plus they send you to a busy bar where no one wants to actually check on your to go food order

We sat at the bar for dinner. The food was overcooked (baked potato was way overdone and burger was well not med-rare). Both bartenders (although nice enough to us) were very rude on multiple occasions to a server who had a table asking for one beer sample each. This made us uncomfortable and we will not be likely to ask to sample new beers here if we return at all!! The manager was not engaging and stirred different kinds of beers that had been sitting too long at the bar with the same straw to make them look fresh (hope no one at that table has allergies to wheat or gluten as he haphazardly uses the same draw over and over to stir up the beers!).

We love Jim's! We used to go to the old location all the time so we had to stop in and try the new one! The atmosphere is so nice and everyone who works there is awesomely friendly! The food is always delicious, I usually have the chicken philly but Brandon goes back and forth between the cuban and the reg philly. I wish they opened earlier is my only complaint the last two times we were there we either showed up right as they opened or last Sunday we went at 11:30 and they didn't open until noon for Sunday hours :( We had to go else where because we were starving!

Today tried the chic taco salad which was very good and huge. For dessert vanilla ice cream and their hot apples.

This was my first visit to the new location. I was mostly pleased with my experience and the new food items. They've expanded the tap selection to 50 and there were several beers I would drink. Unfortunately, I found the beer prices much higher than expected. I would expect to pay $6 for 25 cl of Southern Tier's Creme Brulee at the tap houses around town (Dunedin House of Beer, for example). Jim is selling that same beer fro $8.56 (a good 30% higher). Yikes. New menu item - Smoked Chicken Wing. These were AWESOME!!!!! There's a good amount of spice on the outside and a great smoky flavor to the meat. They also top them with sauteed onions. That was a unique. I wound up mixing the onions with our other food instead, so they didn't go to waste. My wife and I really loved these wings. There are many places that are doing baked and smoked wings lately. These are our favorites, by far. I was a little disappointed to see the small cheesesteak sandwich disappear from the menu. They still have a cheesesteak, but it's a foot long and comes a side and a much bigger price. Their cheesesteaks were decent before (not quite Delco's, but pretty good) and I'm sure they're about the same at the new location. Anyway, we opted to try some of the BBQ instead. We got a sampler with 4 ribs and about a 1/3 pound of brisket and 1/3 pound of pulled pork. The ribs were very good. Nice smoky flavor and the meat came off the bone nice and easy. It was good with the sauce provided, but would have been fine without sauce as well. The brisket was pretty good. Usually, I prefer pork, but in this case the brisket was tastier. The pulled pork was a bit of a let-down. It was much drier than expected and had very little flavor. We brought some of the pork home as leftovers and the mediocrity of the pork really came through the next day. Our server was pleasant and we didn't have to wait long for anything. The building looks nice and is much easier to get to without the construction that plagued the old location. We'll be going back for more smoked wings and to try some of the other foods. We're hoping that the gouging on the beer was unique to that one specialty brand and not an across-the-board 30% increase over regular prices. I'm sure I'l update this review as we continue to patronize this place. UPDATE - The beer prices for other offering were much better - $5.50 for a pint of CCB Maduro, $6 for Bold City Duke's Brown. Apparently, the Creme Brulee from our last visit was an anomaly. We got the smoked wings again. They were not seasoned like the first time. They only seemed to season the sauteed onions that they put on the wings. They were still really good, but not as mind blowing. We tried the Boom Boom Shrimp this time. They were decent, but the $9 price tag for about 15 tiny shrimp was a bit much. You can get twice as much at Longhorn for the same price and the quality is as good, if not better. The service was still good and fast, despite being very crowded for St. Patrick's Day festivities. We'll continue to go back and try more of the new menu.

Famous Jim's was a family favorite. We used to go after hockey practices. Sometimes other families would join us. It was our local family joint where we could be ourselves while enjoying some really good pizza/bar/sandwich food. They've since moved to a location on Seminole Blvd. The new location is an expanded version of their old expansion effort in that there are still TVs hanging on the walls with ESPN streaming away on all of them. There was some crappy music blaring through the restaurants speakers in lieu of being able to hear the TVs. Not sure how it all melds but I think they are trying to appeal a more upscale clientele while maintaining their roots. The menu has tried to step up a pay grade in fare with the inclusion of bone-in steaks, bone-in chops, flatbreads and pastas... with some of the old favorites like their famous Cuban hanging on. There was no pizza to be found. We ordered 3 appetizers. The fried mushrooms were ok. The mozzarella wedges were ok. The Mac and cheese bites were ok. My wife's burger was not ok. My Cuban was not pressed hard and crispy like I remember and was ok. The kids chicken fingers were already sauced with BBQ sauce and hot sauce and were ok. The fries were ok. Missing altogether was my favorite chunk of famous spicy pickles. All in all it was ok and not cost effective. Sandwiches are $10 a pop. This is definitely not OUR Famous Jim's anymore. It's no longer that hole in the wall we were oh so proud to have found. Now it's just another restaurant that's just ok and pricy. I get that people always want bigger, better and more. Sometimes when you have something good... you should just concentrate on that. Sorry to do this, but there's a Famous Jim's I'll always remember and miss, because it's gone.

Great food! Our server John was amazing! He recommended 3 items and was 3 for 3 on deliciousness!

Use to be the place to go eat. But since they moved the quality of the food has gone way down. We got it to go. Fries & Philly cheese steak we had 10 fries and the Philly was twice as small. We will not be going back. Which makes me really upset because it was the place to go get the best Philly in the area.

The best pulled pork, ribs that fall of the bone, tender brisket, and awesome philly beef and cheese sandwich around here anywhere. Home made baked beans and potato salad. Very impressive. Very clean and nice inside. The waitress was very sweet and of course let's not forget the 50 bears on tap! If you haven't tried Big Jim's, you don't know what you're missing!

They MOVED. New address is: 10395 Seminole Blvd. Seminole Fl (corner of 102nd and Seminole) I only mention this because I called for take-out tonight and wasn't told and drove to the old address on Ulmerton Rd. They need to update their website and tell people on the phone because it's the SAME number. Food was very good! Totally missing the spicy pickle though... :(

I had the "Lunch" special, Steak Wrap. It was like chewing shoe leather, the meat was extremely tough and the pieces were too big for the wrap. Even had difficulty cutting the meat with a knife, not a good situation for a "steak" place. I won't recommend!!!!!!!

UPDATED 7/2015: I will be all over the place with this review because, well, the menu is all over the place and we can't really pin down if this is a bar and grill, a BBQ joint or sandwich place.. It tries to be all of them and does them good enough that we've come back several times. (By the way, Music is fixed not too loud anymore.) Menu ranges from dinners to sandwiches, burgers and BBQ with a large selection of beers on tap. The BBQ is great, I recommend the sampler and get at least 2 sauces on the side rather than on the meat so you can try more than one flavor. Family favorite is the gold sauce. Sides are mostly good including a nice side salad which isn't just iceberg and tomato. Not a fan of the Mac and cheese,we found it too saucy for our tastes. Appetizers so far are spinach artichoke which they do well and a must have is the smoked wings. Nothing like a fried wing, these babies have no sauce and don't need em, meat falls off the bone. The burger is a big well made fresh patty on a good bun, cooked on a grill..can't go wrong with that. As far as sandwiches go we had a mixed bag with the Philly Steak, one time it was good the next it had no taste at all, so hit or miss but the Cuban is awesome, with real pulled pork not sliced lunch meat and a good sauce, it's their version of a Cuban but very tasty! Flatbread pizzas have been good too and helps out with variety as they suffice for the one in your party who wanted to go out for Pizza instead. Their shepherds pie is very rich with a wine tasting sauce just as a heads up. If you want a small local restaurant that is casual yet nicely decorated, plenty of TV's, a decent sized bar, lots of beers on tap and almost too many types of food to choose from, this is your place.

This is our first and last visit here. It is one of those local places that makes money in spite of itself. Empty tables but 15 min wait. No diet soda of any kind (they ran out). Bar staff not at all friendly or encouraging to get a drink while waiting. A young couple with baby tipped the go-box while trying to pay. I would have thought they would replace the whole sandwich that went on the floor. Stingy, not friendly.

I loved it when we went to the old ulmerton road location. this new place is a misery. it's a heart breaker too, because the food is really good. i have a decibel meter on my phone and because of the hard surface acoustics and tvs running the room and people trying to talk over each other averaged 96 decibels the whole time. just so you know, relatively that is "Boeing 737 or DC-9 aircraft at one nautical mile (6080 ft) before landing (97 dB); power mower (96 dB); motorcycle at 25 ft (90 dB)." it was miserable. According to OSHA, you can't expose your employees to a whole shift of music that is 90 decibels or more, a volume that is high for a restaurant, but not uncommon in bars and nightclubs. Even at sound levels that OSHA says are safe, it is likely you'll get lots of guest complaints. According to Stephani Robson, Ph.D., a senior lecturer at Cornell University School of Hotel Management, a study found that the average noise level in restaurants measured about 70 decibels even though the volume needed for comfortable conversation is around 60 decibels. Flip through any restaurant review, and you may see guest complaints about not being able to hear their dining companions over the noise. Part of the problem is the way restaurants are designed today. For example, there are lots of hard surfaces, no carpets, and tables packed close together to maximize capacity, all of which can make a space seem very loud. But music that is playing at too high a volume also is a big contributor to uncomfortable noise levels as i said, this place has great food- maybe i can get something to take out or if they get their patio in place we'll return, but until then, my ears take precedence over roast beef

Stopped in for the first time after having been to the Ulmerton location several times before. First of all, they did a great job of renovating the building, creating a great restaurant/taphouse feel for us in the Largo and Seminole area. Secondly, the fried mushrooms and fire roasted wings were amazing. I look foreword to exploring the menu further.

I had the Chicken Philly Sandwich tonight. It was very good. The roll was soft, the chicken well cooked and flavorful. The new restaurant has a great atmosphere and the service was superb!! The only reason I did not give this a 5 star review is because of the French fries. They were the typical cheap frozen type with no flavor. How about some seasoned fries, curly Q's or fresh cut? What a great addition that would be to this great menu and food.

Really liked your old location SO much better. Music was way to loud to the point I left with a headache. Air was ridiculously cold. I miss the sports bar hole in the wall. Sorry. Don't feel like going back now.
