Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. This Village Inn in Lakeland FL is fairly new to our area. I have now eaten here about five times. Every single meal has been absolutely delicious! Not often do I get to report that I have not (yet) had a disappointing meal... and the service is really good. I often come in for "early bird specials" for a filling meal for a great price and a free slice of pie. yum! I recommend this Village Inn and lets hope they continue their good work. Karen

I am very impressed by this location. I have been to Village Inn in other states, and I like them. However this one deserves the 5 stars. Very friendly and always prompt and courteous service from the staff. The prices are for the most part very reasonable, especially the Early Bird Specials. There is not a better deal in town. Entire meal from the small salad to the meal and dessert. All for under $9.00. Village inn has some great pies to choose from. The restaurant is roomy, attractive and has always been clean. I haven't had one problems there, and I eat there frequently.

This place is great, in the month it's been open I've been 4 times. The inside is well laid out and decorated. The menu has something for everyone and priced reasonably. The servers still need to work out a few kinks but the food quality makes up for that. Oh, make sure to leave room for some pie!

Horrible service - selection is just like Denny's at a 50% markup. Management doesn't even remotely stop by your table so when your meal arrives incorrect you can't tell them just like you can't tell your server. Coffee is also very week. I usually try a place 2 or 3 times before crossing it off my list but this one earned a no return on the first visit.

I normally reserve 5 stars for fine dining--you know, expensive, romantic, decadent. But I have to give Village Inn top props for its magnificent first impression. Seated quickly and swarmed by a drink taker who also made sure the table was clean with a quick eye to its neatness, my order went in swiftly and came out quickly, much to the shame of many other breakfast restaurants in the area. I ordered pepper jack benedict, a spin on the traditional poached eggs with sautéed green & red peppers smothered in melted pepper jack cheese over a tasty sausage patty atop a muffin, a delish combo. The hashbrowns were done to a perfect light golden brown (my favorite way, I know others like them crispier)--just the right amount of food, costing about $9.50. While their food prices are higher than most of the mom & pop's, they're in line with Keke's, Bob Evan's or Denny's (and less greasy). Cheapest breakfast on the menu (served all day) was a yummy sounding oatmeal at $5.49. I saw some inviting bacon-hamburger stacks pass by. I do think the brightness, cleanliness, server efficiency and food consistency makes the value worthwhile. I must say server quality tipped the scales to the highest rating. Everyone was busy but exuding positiveness. After a recent visit to an upscale restaurant with 3 servers ignoring customers and dirty tables while they sat with their screens, it was a breath of fresh air to see the hostess vacuum the entryway when she was not busy or a second waitress come by with coffee and syrup to insure everyone was well taken care of. Hats off to the management for setting the expectation of service. with a smile. I must confess I succumbed to pie in a take home bag--a slice of caramel pecan silk supreme which also exceeded my expectation! Can't wait to go back for some strawberry-rhubarb. I know what I'm bringing to my next potluck, too! 7/2015. Also yum--tomato basil soup, new Paris sandwich, meat loaf sandwich, reuben, lemon meringue.

I'm going to be straightforward here. I'm writing this on Mothers Day. I know it's crazy. After waiting an hour, we were seated. We expected to wait that long. When we sat down, our table was filthy. It took forever for our server to get our drinks in. (I know she is busy) She finally came with our coffee mugs. Two of the mugs had lipstick stains on them! (Kudos to the lipstick company) We were grossed out and decided to just leave. All the manager said to us was "I am so sorry". If I were a manager of a restaurant, I would have offered a discount for a future visit or a gift card. Especially on Mother's Day. Highly disappointed in mgmt.

Awesome breakfast we frequent Village Inns on a regular basis wherever we travel because they're good. This one is by far the best and the service is great. I recommend the chicken fried steak. And the free piece of pie on Wednesdays is so good.

Was super excited when I found out this opened (kind of out of nowhere, on the DL, in the old Mimi's Cafe). Service is always good but the food, no matter how busy it is, always takes FOREVER to come out. Two times it's been really good and one time it was just blah. The menu does have a huge variety and they serve breakfast all day so everyone will find something they want. However, pass on the biscuits as they're frozen and microwaved. The restaurant itself is clean, modern, and colorful. During the week at lunch time it seems to really be the 80 and up crowd (we were the youngest ones in there by about 45 years easily). Gets busy at lunch and on the weekends for breakfast.

Our server was great and the food was delicious. Huge portions for a reasonable price. But we were seated at a dirty table, and after taking a couple bites I discovered bright purple lipstick on my spoon!! We will give it a second chance (in a few months, when I recover from the trauma of eating off a stranger's dirty spoon) before deciding to never go back.
