My husband & I went there for DInner: I must say the food was outstanding & service great!! We started out with Ceviche ( great taste, very small portions), Crab & Lobster Stuffed mushroom ( Loved it), Lobster Stuffed Red Snapper w passion fruit sauce & Jerk Chicken. For desert we had the Puerto Rican Rum Cake. Our cocktails were also delicious... This restaurant a definite must try!!! Please check out pictures.

My family went there when they first opened. I had the coconut rice with fish. My rice was undercooked, the fish was good. The rest of the food was just okay.

Was invited here by our neighbors for a birthday dinner. Been here a few times over the last 10+ years when it was the Bizarre Ave Cafe. The last 2 visits were bad. This first visit to the island was great. Service was amazing and fun. The owner came to our table twice and chatted. There was live music and come to find out, that upstairs they bring in all types of entertainment. Entertainment like rock bands, reggae bands, burlesque shows. Full bar too. The next time I go will be for the burlesque show; I hear it's a fun show. Back to dinner; I had snapper stuffed with lobster meat over mashed potatoes . The only complaint I have was it was a tad too rich and a tad too salty. But that's me. The mashed potatoes were perfect and ib tried 2 different specialty drinks. I was feeling pretty good. Great first visit, looking forward to the next one.

Just opened but the open faced blackened fish sandwich was very good. Homemade sour dough bread too. The fried potatoes are excellent! This place is NOT Asian Fusion but Caribbean.

Cute atmosphere. Dinner takes a Long Time to come out. The drinks are amazing. Especially the naked pirate! We got eggplant Parmesan and steak. Which were good we then got dessert which was the biggest disappointment of the nite. We got the pineapple rum cake which let me tell u. Sucked. It was just a pineapple upside down cake. No rum. No rum cake at all!!! Go for drinks! And a cute atmosphere! And the cute waiter with the deep voice :-p

Top quality! You can tell the chefs take pride in their craft. Blair (Owner) is passionate and welcoming, the band was entertaining and the bartenders are super friendly! I first tried this place on Aug 1st, went back yesterday and can't wait to go back again. So glad we ordered the Filet Mignon. You can cut it with a butter knife! The upstairs experience is a must for those who like it lively. Regardless of whether you eat upstairs or downstairs, it's flavor popping good!

We ordered all appetizers. Wings, coconut curry tofu and the island burger. The wings had a great rub on them, the burger was very delicious, well cooked. Our favorite item was the coconut curry, it was very good but the $20 price tag was a little steep. We had a groupon when we went, we probably wouldn't go back unless we had another. I think the prices are a little in general. The atmosphere was nice, live piano player in front which was different and pleasant.

The food is rich in flavor and the plate is big. & the wine is good and sweet. Over all if you want something romantic and not afraid to pay, then I recommend here.

The staff was very attentive but the food was not very good. The staff blamed the food quality on a new kitchen staff. The Island is EXTREMELY overpriced for what you get. I would not recommend it.

Great new place in Lake Worth although I miss Bizarre. The food was good but the soup was cold. The Roti with curry was amazing. Most of the things on the menu are too expensive though.

Food was excellent! The plantain hummus - my first - was delicious: perfect texture and taste. The fish tacos and the coconut crusted snapper were fabulous. We will come back to eat again. Ambiance is very pleasant. Service was very good. Parking was easy.

It really pains me to write this review because I had such great expectations for this restaurant. We first discovered it when we were going to Bizaare Cafe only to find it is now The Island Restaurant. We decided to try it out since we were planning a special birthday dinner in the future. The decor was lovely and we received a warm welcome from Bob, our waiter. He guided us through the menu and we (3 of us) settled on sharing the stuffed mushrooms which were outstanding, then the coconut shrimp ..also delicious then followed by the lobster stuffed fish that did not disappoint . The flavors were wonderful and the fish done just right. I must say, though, that the service is very slow and not very professional.. and the waiter pointed out the "manager" who was sitting at the bar, having a beer shooting the breeze. Would have been nice if he had some interaction with the customers.. But we decided that the food and comfortable atmosphere won out, so we would have our special birthday dinner there. BIG MISTAKE!!! Our reservations were for 7:30, though we had to call in to change at the last minute to change to 8:00. Bob answered the phone in a flustered manner - he was ok with the change as he said they were "very busy." We arrived a little before 8pm and the restaurant was not full. Our table was not completely set up, and to my dismay had stenciled filled water glasses that looked as though they came from a beer garden with straws in them at each place setting. It was all downhill from there! We ordered drinks, then ordered all appetizers and entrees at once. We were very disappointed to find they were out of stuffed mushrooms!!! Appetizers came out after quite a wait - the crab cakes tasted of salt and spice (not crab), the caesar salad was bland, and the fish tacos had a taste of fish going bad! Everyone did enjoy the wings, though. We waited and waited for our entrees, and by 10:00 we still had not received them (and none of the wait staff were anywhere in sight). Not one of the staff came over to explain what was going on. I went into the back multiple times to check on the status, and was told 'It's being plated." After 10 more minutes passed, I went in to the back to let them know this was unacceptable; their response was that they were "very busy" - though there was only one other table of two in the entire restaurant! When I responded that that was no excuse for such a long wait, the answer back was ...." do you want to cancel?" So, our dinner consisted of a birthday cake that I brought to the restaurant!! There is obviously a huge problem in the management and training of the help and surely in the kitchen. It would have been an entirely different experience if the staff had communicated the wait, been apologetic, and been present throughout our meal to reassure us. This is so sad to see as this restaurant, if managed properly, has potential. Vis

Two stars is generous. The food was not good the waitress didn't know ingredients of the dishes and the drinks (margarita) was undrink able. Would not go back and would not recommend. Oh and it is quite expensive. Lose lose
