When you want a solid breakfast and you kind of want it your way, they'll make it work. Plenty of pancakes, omelet's, grits or if you want a hamburger and greens, you can get it your way. Lunch has a special each day ranging from fried or baked chicken to fried catfish or some tasty grilled ribs cooked over a charcoal fire with some oak thrown in for a light smoky taste. Plenty of sides available. Fast service unless you're a local. haha. Winter brings in the snow birds and business is heavy during breakfast and lunch. The kitchen crew gets food out quick or they'll be getting an earful from Shannon. She's the owner and kind of grew up in the "truck stop" restaurant. She's a good person and manages the restaurant like the pro she is. Prices are typical and you get good size portions. If you don't prefer home style food...I suggest you at least give this a try and you may change your mind.

Well worth the stop on our way home from Sebring. The portions were pretty large and definitely fill you up. Service is quick, easy, and happy to answer questions. It's the most polite restaurant I've been to in a while.

(Visit of Aug 5) This was a good find for breakfast. You must try the Deep-Fried Pancakes with Blueberries and whipped cream. The pancakes are cut into quarters, dipped in a batter and fried. Fattening of course, but we didn't feel like eating for the rest of the day. For two pancakes, $4.89. The combination breakfast we also ordered consisted of 2 biscuits with sausage and gravy, grits, two eggs, sausage, and bacon. The grits and sausage and gravy were a bland but Everglades Seasoning on the table made it more than tasty enough. The price of this massive breakfast was $7.99. Our bill for two people pigging out was $17. The quart-sized glass of Sweet Tea added the finishing touches of carbs. Keep in mind this is a diner. It looks like a truck stop from outside and the wait staff is attentive but not polished. I definitely recommend this for breakfast. We've just discovered this area, which has a lot of great spots to visit, and we'll be back here in a few weeks.

The food was good however don't order the hash browns. They were greasy and looked like a patty that you'd get from McDonald's. The rest of the breakfast was good. Chicken fried steak was good, the service was good and the inside of building looked 100% better than the outside. The outside of the building is in need of a massive makeover. I thought it was an an abandoned business until my husband told me it us open and they had good food.

I love this place. It is about the only restaurant in Lake Placid that I like. Good prices, great food, and friendly staff.
